Neighbours has cast a fashion model and former reality TV show contestant in a two-month guest role, it has been confirmed.

Rhys Uhlich, a winner of Make Me a Supermodel in 2008, will appear as Scotty Boland, a love interest for newcomer Georgia Brooks (Saskia Hampele).

Scotty - described as a "country boy" - will arrive on Ramsay Street with a secret that gets people talking and changes things for Georgia, who is cousin to Toadie (Ryan Moloney).

"Ever since I got into modelling, acting has been something I've wanted to pursue," Uhlich explained to TV Tonight. "It sounds cliché, but it's a natural progression to want to move into other areas of the industry.

"I grew up in the same town as the Hemsworth boys [Philip Island], and to see the careers they've made for themselves is pretty inspiring."

Uhlich, who was a primary school teacher prior to becoming a model, began work on Neighbours last week.

He added that he was impressed by the positive reception that Scott McGregor - himself a former model - received as Mark Brennan, and joked that "some friendly competition" might tempt the Offspring star back to Ramsay Street.

His character will make his on-screen debut during December in Australia, and in February 2013 in the UK.

Neighbours mechanic Chris Pappas receives a shock in an upcoming episode when he realises that Scotty Boland may have a romantic interest in him.

The story twist occurs as Chris and some of the other Erinsborough locals take part in a charity camp-out, which has been organised by Scotty's girlfriend Georgia Brooks to raise money for the hospital.

As Chris gets settled in his tent, he is surprised when Scotty (Rhys Uhlich) decides to pay him a visit. Chris is then left totally flummoxed when Scotty says something that could be construed as making a move on him.

James Mason, who plays Chris, commented: "There is definitely a serious side to this storyline because everyone thinks this guy Scotty is straight, including his girlfriend.

"However, there are some funny moments as well with Chris Milligan [as Kyle Canning] leading up to the big revelation, which were great to play."

The latest twist in Chris's personal life comes after he recently split from Aidan Foster, played by Bob Morley.

Mason laughed: "Yes, nothing like a break-up to kick start the year. I definitely miss Bob - we played opposite each other on and off for 18 months so started to finish each other's sentences."

Chris's new storyline with Scotty begins next week in Australia and from April 4 on Channel 5 in the UK.

Neighbour's Scotty Boland will make a move on Chris Pappas for a second time, it has been revealed.

Last week, show bosses confirmed that Chris (James Mason) will be left stunned when Scotty hints at a romantic interest in him in a future episode.

Although Scotty soon convinces Chris that he misread the situation, his denials don't last for long as he later tries to kiss the mechanic shortly after Toadie Rebecchi's stag celebrations.

Rhys Uhlich, who plays Scotty, told TV Week: "There's no mistaking this. He's really put it out there now, but Chris doesn't go for it. So he kicks Scotty out of the house, but even then Scotty doesn't realise what the kiss means."

When Chris confides in Kyle Canning over what happened, the two men agree that Scotty's girlfriend Georgia Brookes needs to know the truth.

However, when they next see Georgia, she is on cloud nine as Scotty has just proposed to her.

Saskia Hampele, who plays Georgia, explained: "Scotty takes [her] out to breakfast and proposes. At the same time, Chris and http://www.soapboards.co.uk/forums/images/smilies/searchme.gifKyle have decided that they need to tell Georgia what happened at the bucks party.

"They're on their way and Georgia turns up with a ring on her finger. They can't bring themselves to break her heart and remain silent."

Chris split from boyfriend Aidan Foster earlier this year.

Neighbours airs these scenes next week on Eleven in Australia, and in April on Channel 5 in the UK.

Dropping by Chris's tent for a visit, Scotty makes conversation before suggestively asking whether the mechanic is warm enough in his sleeping bag.

Scotty leaves the tent shortly afterwards, but Chris (James Mason) is flummoxed - should he tell Georgia that her boyfriend seemed to be making a move on him?
