Syed Masood risks his future with partner Christian Clarke on EastEnders next month as he shares a kiss with newcomer Danny Pennant.

Gary Lucy will soon make his first appearance as city banker Danny, who immediately strikes up a bond with Syed when they meet at the Argee Bhajee.

Desperate for a way to solve his worsening financial problems, Syed (Marc Elliott) subsequently consults Danny on a number of occasions for his guidance and advice.

In a fortnight's time, however, things move further between the pair after they arrange to meet up at the R&R.

Although the main topic of discussion is initially just business, they go on to have a heart-to-heart - and Syed soon gets lost in the moment by kissing Danny. What does this mean for his relationship with Christian?

EastEnders favourite Sharon Rickman will be the latest Walford resident to face trouble with bad boy Derek Branning next month.

Sharon (Letitia Dean) has spent years lying to her young son Denny about what really happened to his late father, but Derek is about to put her in an awkward situation by revealing her deception.

Magazine reports have revealed that Denny is present when a tactless Derek (Jamie Foreman) talks loudly about Dennis's fatal stabbing in an upcoming episode.

Having previously been told that his dad died a hero, Denny is deeply confused by what he is hearing - leaving an emotional Sharon with a tough choice to make as she must decide whether to confirm what Derek has said.

Meanwhile, with Tanya and Jack both close to Sharon, how will the Brannings react to Derek's latest bad behaviour?

EastEnders airs these scenes on Tuesday, October 9 at 7.30pm on BBC One.

EastEnders' Whitney Dean makes a decision she may end up regretting next month as she responds to advances from Joey Branning.

Joey turns his attentions to Whitney (Shona McGarty) as they both attend Abi's belated 16th birthday party in an upcoming episode.

When the pair are alone in the kitchen, Joey (David Witts) can't resist bad-mouthing Whitney's boyfriend Tyler Moon, having previously fallen out with the ex-antiques dealer.

The Walford schemer than moves in for a kiss with Whitney and she finds herself responding.

Although Whitney pulls away shortly afterwards, Joey is smug over the encounter. Will he keep quiet about what happened between them?

Monday

Lola returns home from the youth court after making a plea of not guilty. Billy tries to assure her that everything will be fine, but the realisation of losing Lexi becomes too much to bear and she takes shelter in the charity shop, feeling judged by the local residents.

After Cora dishes out some tough love by urging Lola to fight to get her daughter back, the troubled teen heads to see Trish with Billy. Lola apologises to Trish for her behaviour the day before, but as the strict social worker begins making further notes in her file, Lola soon loses her temper and throws the list of damaging notes across the room. Trish warns that Lola may never get Lexi back if she carries on like this.

At the same time, Phil confronts Lola to see whether her claims about Ben are true. Despite her promising that she isn't lying, Phil struggles to accept the news that Ben is Lexi's father.

Meanwhile, Alice decides to get a makeover to shed her 'daddy's little girl' image. She is delighted when Poppy and Tanya transform her appearance at the salon, but Derek is far from impressed with their handiwork and warns Tanya that she will regret this.

Later, Alice shows off her new look at The Vic, but runs off upset when Derek continues to complain about what she's done. Fumbling with her phone outside, Alice catches the attention of a mugger, who pushes her over and snatches her bag. Ray chases after the culprit but fails to catch him.

Elsewhere, Zainab panics when Masood wants to use some money from their savings accounts, while Syed has a secret meeting with Danny and is surprised when Danny wants to invest some money with him.

Tuesday

Lola and Billy are disappointed by the result of the interim care hearing, which is that Lexi will stay in temporary custody for the next eight weeks at least. An emotional Lola blames Billy for the situation, telling him that he should have fought harder. Billy then begs Phil to help him and Lola, but Phil refuses to do so - ordering him to sort out his own mess.

Later, Billy is encouraged when Jay urges him to keep fighting for his family. He then calls Trish and convinces her to bring Lexi to visit tomorrow. At the same time, Phil reconsiders his harsh attitude towards Billy and Lola after Sharon gives him some home truths about his behaviour. Phil finally offers Billy his help, but Billy has changed his mind - slamming the door in Phil's face and saying they don't need him.

Meanwhile, it's Abi's belated 16th birthday party, but there is tension among the Brannings as Derek continues to blame Tanya and the makeover for the reason that Alice was mugged. Derek's overprotective behaviour continues when he is fuming to learn that Alice has left the party to thank Ray for helping her yesterday.

When Sharon accuses him of overreacting, a spiteful Derek tells Jack that he should stay away from Sharon unless he wants a knife in his back just like Dennis's dad. Hearing every word, Dennis rushes out of the house in tears. A furious Tanya then kicks Derek out of the party, but he warns that she's making a big mistake.

Elsewhere, Whitney responds when a mischievous Joey kisses her at the party but soon pulls away as she feels guilty, while Syed is forced to take a loan from Danny when Zainab asks him for some of the money she gave him.

Thursday

Sharon is distraught as Dennis continues to question her about what Derek said yesterday. She urges her son not to believe Derek's claims about his father's death. Struggling to cope with the situation, Sharon breaks into the filing cabinet at R&R to search for her pills. However, just as she is about to take some of the pills, she becomes disgusted with herself and throws the entire bottle against the wall.

Later, Jack is concerned when he spots the pills all over the office at the club. He demands answers from Sharon, who insists that she doesn't need the pills anymore. Sharon throws them down the sink at Jack's flat after he challenges her to do so, but he sees that she has still kept some of the pills in her other hand. Opening up to her boyfriend, Sharon tells Jack that she hasn't taken the pills for years but keeps them just in case she can't get through the day. She hands the rest of them to Jack, asking him to keep them safe for her.

Meanwhile, Derek's vendetta against Tanya continues when he discovers that she was the one who encouraged Alice to leave Abi's party to see Ray. Soon afterwards, Alice overhears Max leaving Tanya a message which warns her to be careful with Derek and stay away from him. Alice immediately demands an explanation from Max, who reveals what Derek said in front of Dennis. Later, Alice forces Derek to apologise to everyone, adding that it was the expensive phone he bought her that attracted the mugger, not Tanya's makeover. As a sheepish Derek says sorry, will peace be restored?

Elsewhere, Christian is surprised to stumble across the wedding invitations, as Syed was supposed to send them out a week ago. He enlists Zainab's help in sending them out, but Zainab isn't pleased by the list of guests and insists on rewriting it! Christian grows frustrated with Zainab's controlling behaviour and tells her that he will never feel a part of their family. Can Zainab make it up to him?

Also today, Syed calls Danny for another meeting, while Lola is allowed to spend some time with Lexi when Trish brings her over.

Friday

Sharon is worried that she won't be able to keep lying to Dennis about his father's death if they stay in Walford, so she packs their bags to leave. Jack tries to convince her to stay by pointing out that Dennis will find out the truth anyway, but Sharon is convinced that she is doing the right thing. However, Dennis once again gets upset over the thought of leaving Walford. Sharon eventually realises that she can't keep deceiving her son, so she finally tells him the truth about what happened to his dad.

Soon afterwards, Sharon resolves to stay in Walford after all, but the B&B is now fully booked so she has nowhere to stay. Phil offers them a place at his house, but Sharon declines this as she still doesn't think he's a good influence on Dennis. In the end, the matter is resolved as Jack agrees to let Sharon and Dennis stay with him.

Meanwhile, Billy worries about an emotional Lola when he finds her ripping Lexi's baby mobile to pieces. Billy once again turns to Phil for help and is shocked when Phil offers to put in a residency order so that Lexi can live with him. Billy isn't so sure that it's a good idea, but quickly decides that they don't have another option. As Phil starts to take control of the situation with Lola, Billy feels sidelined.

Elsewhere, Syed heads out for a drink with Danny as he is desperate for a return on the investment. The pair end up having a heart-to-heart and Syed gets lost in the moment by kissing Danny. When Syed then pulls away and runs out of the club, Danny is left confused and follows him outside. Sparks fly between them once again as they're unable to deny their attraction and kiss passionately. Unbeknown to them, a shocked Masood is watching.

Also today, Tamwar considers incorporating some home truths about his family into his stand-up comedy gig.

Tanya and Derek's feud intensifies in tonight's (October 9) EastEnders episode as they have a big argument at a family party.

As the Brannings gather for a belated celebration of Abi's 16th birthday, tensions are running high as Derek still thinks that Tanya (Jo Joyner) was to blame for Alice's mugging.

Derek (Jamie Foreman) isn't best pleased with party guest Sharon Rickman either, accusing her of speaking out of turn when she repeatedly voices her opinion on the situation.

Losing his temper once again, Derek warns Jack that he should stay away from a woman like Sharon - unless he wants a knife in his back just like Dennis's dad. However, a shocked Dennis hears the whole thing and runs out upset.

Tanya is livid with Derek for his latest outspoken behaviour and kicks him out of her house, warning him to stay away from her family from now on. An angry Jack backs her up, but Derek warns Tanya that she's making a big mistake by crossing him…

EastEnders bad boy Derek Branning surprises everyone by making a big apology to Tanya in tonight's (October 11) episode of the soap.

Derek (Jamie Foreman) is forced to reconsider his recent behaviour when his daughter Alice finds out that he's been giving Tanya a hard time over the mugging incident.

Alice (Jasmyn Banks) is quick to inform her father that the makeover she received from Tanya (Jo Joyner) wasn't the reason she was targeted by the thief. She is also equally appalled when she learns that Derek managed to upset young Dennis at Abi's birthday party.

Given food for thought, Derek finally pays a visit to Tanya's place and says sorry for all of the trouble he's caused. Is he just trying to appease Alice, or is he being genuine this time?
