View Full Version : Dale Cregan is a Legend
What on earth is wrong with society when people in the UK can label criminals legends and heroes.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2205209/Dale-Cregan-OBE-Vile-Facebook-page-set-tribute-fugitive-arrested-police-women-killed-chief-constable-blasts-hold-folk-hero.html
Some sad and twisted individuals have set up a Facebook page labelling the alleged murderer of the two Police Officers in Manchester as a hero and a legend and think he deserves the OBE. Two innocent police officers going about their lawful duty brutally killed allegedly by a person whom the police suspect of at least two other murders. How can anyone describe this vile apology for a human being as a legend or hero.
The real heroes in this affair are the two unarmed police officers who were killed in the execution of their duty by this scumbag.
That is just sad but however there is people like that out there.. Look at the Kray brothers, evil evil people but they are deemed legends by a lot of people. I personally don“t understand the mentality of some people that believe this is ok cause it involved police officers.. sick!

Yes, it's a very sad reflection of some people in our society that they can turn thieves and murderers into legends. Perhaps if they were on the receiving end of some of these people they might think differently.
It makes me wonder what they are teaching children in schools today
How delightful to read about the death of yet another legend. Charlie Richardson the convicted torturer passed away yesterday after collapsing with peritonitis. No doubt his family will grieve his passing but i wonder how many of his victims and their families will.

How can you possibly say that it is delightful to read about the death of anyone,it shouldn't matter what a person has done or not it is not delightful to read about them dying.

Alan is right.I'm sure the friends and families of the people that Charlie Richardson and the Krays tortured were absolutely delighted by their deaths and wished it could have happened earlier. Perhaps you're glad that Hitler survived the assassination attempt on him so he could go on to murder over 6,000,000 people in his concentration camps.

Of course there at many deaths I would be delighted to see and read about. Ian Huntley springs to mind. The brave criminals who murdered friends and colleagues of mine, the paedophile who abused my niece. What's more I would dance on their graves. Sorry but I do not believe in turning the other cheek.

Tried to let this thread go by without comment ,but as a retired police officer had to speak . Raoul Moat was alledgedly aided by 6 or 7 ordinary local residents when he went into hiding , the place where he met his end had to be controlled due to the volume of flowers being laid, some of the messages written with the flowers beggar belief. I should say I was in another constabulary, and was told this by an old police friend of mine. Heaven knows why these people get worshiped, even more worrying by ordinary people. Many police officers loose count of the number of 10 to 14 year olds they pick up wandering the streets at 1or2am . You take them home and get a mouthful of abuse off the parents, and equally from what I would call middle class folk .As for this latest slaughter I am lost for words for two so young. I have just seen on the news that one author of a facebook page has been arrested.
I'm glad there's so many on these boards who empathise with the victims of crime, and not the criminals. It makes me feel like I'm in good company.
As for being delighted when someone who's caused others pain and misery without remorse dies, I'm with Alan on this one. I don't believe in the death penalty because innocent people die, but I do believe that people who commit evil deeds don't deserve to live.
It's good to hear that the author of the Dale Cregan Facebook page has been arrested.

Alan is not right, and to say that I am glad that Hitler survived the assassination attempt on him so he could go on to murder over 6,000,000. is very insulting, but I would expect nothing less from someone with your attitude.

So you would have been delighted if he'd been killed then.

I disagree re Ian Huntley, but only in that I would prefer him to stay alive in jail and be subjected to more attacks by fellow prisioners.
A slow painful suffering would be more suitable in my opinion than a quick heart attack and curtains
my one big bug bear over this -why the hell was this piece of scum out on bail??
what is wrong with our justice system that lets someone accused and charged of possibly two killings, to walk free until his Trial?

Whats the difference between murderers. The people who murder police officers or civilians deserve to suffer the same fate. Please come back when you have experienced a bit more of the real world. Try having your attitude when you see colleagues shot and killed beside you or blown to bits by terrorist bombs. If these people had been taken permenantly out of circulation when they first committed murder then there would be many people alive today.
They may be legends and folk heros to you but they are scum to me and I can speak with some authority and having witnessed the aftermath of crimes committed by your heroes. I just hope it never comes to your door

Please get your facts right before replying, at no time on this thread did I ever say that these people are legends and folk heros.

In that case, N.Fan, I have to tell you someone is impersonating you because someone using your name told us all that Ronnie Biggs is a legend.

I'm currently studying criminology with the hope of becoming a PC and I often wonder why the public acts like this. I find myself bringing up the public's behaviour as just 'inept' but I can't quite understand why some behave in this way. As you say, why did local residents aid Raoul Moat? Also the reaction you got from parents is equally odd. I assume it must be something to do with feeling suppressed and deprived (by politicians and the economy) but this isn't the police services fault.
Law breakers are definitely not heroes. Far from it. Dale Cregan is pure evil and the killings of the WPC's were tragic.
The Killing of any police officer is disgusting and should be a capital crime.

Quite right.
In connection with the original post re the murder of the two young police officers , a "fancy dress " hire shop in Manchester City centre displayed in its front window, presumably for hire ,two female police officer uniforms both with bloodstained blouses.
After outrage by members of the public and other interested parties they were removed. Tango_Victor please do not think these incidents reflect the majority attitude to the police service ,imo they don't. far from it. I wish you every success for the future. I had thirty good years in the police and like any other career ,good and bad days .Would do the same again given a choice, good luck

Glen1,
That sounds appalling that the shop would put those on sale. It is sad to see that even murders now can often be used for money making. I am glad that they were removed as obviously it was in very bad taste.
I understand and agree, not all the public have a bad attitude, it's just highlighted by the few that do. I think things like social network sites have just increased the ability for people to show their admiration.
Thank you kindly :) I originally started training as a pilot and got my private pilots license but unfortunately due to the economic situation jobs are hard to come by and therefore it's harder to pay for more hours and ratings that I required and next year I turn 30 and so really need to follow a different career path, hence why I'm going for the job of a PC. Hopefully I'll be successful. It sounds like you had a lovely career and I'm sure there are good, bad, happy and sad times to look back on, but the job is definitely worthwhile.
When I was younger, I was taught to respect the police. They were there if I need help and also to keep the criminals off the streets. It seems more and more nowadays that it is the criminals that are getting the respect and the police the abuse. I teach my kids to respect police, they sometimes have a very thankless job.

At least there are some good people like you, Siobhan. A lot of people tend to be rather reluctant to show support for the police. Nowadays when my friends complain about the police I just say 'Well if you think you can do better sign up and become a special constable, it's a volunteer officer and I'm sure you'll be very valuable' Naturally they tend to shy away from the subject then.
