Emmerdale star Dominic Power has said that Carl King is "pure evil" in the soap's ongoing blackmail storyline.

Power's character Cameron Murray is currently under pressure to buy Carl's silence, after the scheming businessman uncovered his affair with Chas Dingle.

Next week's episodes see Carl (Tom Lister) continue to harass Cameron for the cash. He even shows no mercy when doctors reveal that Sarah - the daughter of Cameron's partner Debbie - is developing leukaemia.

Power told Inside Soap: "What's so alarming about it is that Carl seems to have no sympathy for Sarah's illness whatsoever. Cameron is shocked that a human being can be so evil and callous at what is such a painful time.

"Carl wants his cash, and he moves the goal posts from one moment to the next. Cam gives him money, and then he wants more. He seems to like playing these mind games.

"Carl keeps sending Cam threatening texts at the worst possible moments, and that makes him so angry. Cameron always knew Carl could be a menace, but he never knew he could be this malicious. This shows how purely evil Carl King really is."

Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV1.

EMMERDALE bosses will kill off one of the soap's most loved characters while two weddings will take place during the 40th anniversary live episode.

The top male star, who we have agreed not to name, will be bumped off in spectacular style next month.

But news of a death will come as a major shock to fans.

"We want to avoid speculation as to which character dies but suffice to say it will have major, far-reaching repercussions."

Speaking about the soap hunk who will meet his maker, Stuart added: "The soap gods always get their man and this one has it coming!"

Carl does fit the bill but he is one of the soap's most loved characters?

Cain or Andy also fit the bill

its got to be carl - maybe fact that the actor playing him is planning a big thing abroad for next year fits with him not being in the show much longer??? Alternatively Cameron - but I'm thinking more Carl now

Coming up on Emmerdale, Jai Sharma is forced to miss Rachel Breckle's baby scan as the pressure to keep their big secret intensifies.

Jai (Chris Bisson) is eager to get a glimpse of his unborn child as he heads to the hospital for the appointment. However, he is stopped in his tracks when he suddenly spots Gennie and Nikhil coming out of the lift.

Gennie (Sian Reese-Williams) has paid an unexpected visit to the hospital because she is suffering pains, so Jai is forced to quickly come up with a cover story - falsely claiming that he rushed to be with them after Rishi told him what was going on.

Later, there is relief all round when Gennie and Nikhil (Rik Makarem) are told that her pains can be attributed to Braxton Hicks. However, Jai is in turmoil because he now has to maintain his deception by staying with the pair and missing Rachel's appointment.

At the same time, Rachel (Gemma Oaten) is left alone wondering where Jai suddenly went - and is ultimately forced to go ahead with the scan without him. Can she forgive him for this?

Monday - first episode

Laurel receives a call from Gabby's teacher to explain that the youngster is sick. To ease relations at home, Marlon has bought Sandy a surprise mobility scooter, but Sandy is unimpressed. Home from school, Gabby causes problems for Laurel and Marlon and is then upset to see the couple kissing. Gabby shouts at Laurel, telling her how much she hates her and how she is not her real mum. Marlon tries to get through to Gabby, but she lashes out and runs upstairs.

Not long afterwards, Laurel is taken aback as a tearful Gabby claims that Marlon has hit her, just like Ashley hit Sandy. Marlon protests, but Laurel wants some space and heads out. Later, Marlon is alarmed to learn that Laurel wants to tell Ashley what has happened with Gabby. She is determined to sort things out, blaming Ashley for Gabby's actions.

Meanwhile, Cameron warns Carl to back off now he has got him the money. However, Carl ups the pressure by demanding that he gets Chas to return, or he will tell Debbie about their affair. A desperate Cameron asks Ruby for Dan's number, explaining that he needs to get in touch with Chas. Cameron leaves her a message, and then finds himself under more even pressure, as he has to cover to Zak and Charity when the customer of the 'stolen' car drives off from the garage.

Elsewhere, a frustrated Jai books Rachel in for her scan when he realises she has not booked it herself, Priya admits to David that she has been trying to make him jealous and they kiss, while Gennie dresses up to seduce Nikhil into wanting some special time together - but he's worried about hurting the baby.

Tuesday

Laurel keeps Gabby off school, afraid that she will tell the teacher Marlon hit her. Laurel is determined to sort things out with Ashley and explains what has happened, telling him they need to put a stop to it quickly. A guilty Ashley goes to see Gabby and asks her if she lied about Marlon hitting her so she could live with him instead. Diane reluctantly agrees when Ashley then asks if Gabby can move into the pub, but insists he squares it with Laurel first.

Later, Ashley braces himself as he informs Laurel that Gabby is moving into the pub with him. Laurel is angry, but shows a brave face as Ashley leaves with Gabby.

Meanwhile, Jai is at the hospital for Rachel's baby scan, but he is caught out when he sees Gennie and Nikhil coming out of the lift, as Gennie has come to hospital after suffering pains. Jai quickly covers that Rishi called, so he has rushed to the hospital to be with them. Gennie and Nikhil are told that her pains can be attributed to Braxton Hicks, so Nikhil insists that Gennie must go on maternity leave as soon as possible.

At the same time, Rachel is left alone, wondering where Jai suddenly went - and is ultimately forced to go ahead with the scan without him. Jai is gutted to have missed the scan, but when he spots Rachel in the village later, he is unable to talk to her as he is still with Nikhil and Gennie.

Elsewhere, Debbie is not happy about looking after Jacob as Sarah has only just come out of hospital, Cain arrives home to find out about the 'stolen' car, while Cameron discovers that Chas is on her way back but is angry she has not been in touch.

Wednesday

Rishi is puzzled to hear that he had apparently called Jai about Nikhil and Gennie going to hospital. Soon afterwards, Jai visits Rachel to apologise and explain what happened. She allows him to keep the scan picture. Later, Rishi is holding the fort at the factory when he finds the scan photo - with the name 'Breckle' typed on it - stuffed in Jai's desk drawer. When Jai returns, Rishi confronts him and he is forced to tell his father the truth.

Rishi is furious, telling his son how stupid he has been and how he needs to decide what to do next. Jai is determined to keep things as they are, but Rishi questions him over it - is this baby worth risking his marriage over? Rishi admits that he is fond of Charity, and Jai is horrified when his father suggests that he could be the one to tell her about Rachel…

Meanwhile, Diane suggests that Ashley should look for his own place, as Chas and Dan will be moving in when they return. Later, Laurel takes Arthur to The Woolpack to visit Gabby, and feels uncomfortable when a tentative Ashley asks her to stay with them for tea. When she eventually agrees, Ashley is pleased that things are thawing between them. Gabby spontaneously hugs Laurel when she leaves, but Diane thinks Ashley is making more trouble for himself as Gabby now thinks the family will get back together.

Elsewhere, Debbie is given her induction date but it clashes with Chas's wedding, while Chas returns and is exasperated when Carl tightens his grip by insisting she gets the money from the pub.

Thursday - first episode

Carl again suggests that Chas should use the pub takings to pay him off, ordering her to have the money by tomorrow. Deeply shaken, Chas visits Cameron to tell him about Carl's threat and his suggestion of robbing the pub. They're both at a loss over what they should do, but Chas eventually tells Cameron to steal the money as she can't take it from Diane herself.

Later, Cameron tells Chas to leave the money on the table as they prepare to rob the pub. That night, Chas tells Diane that she will cash up and lock up, and then pretends to be drunk as Diane, Dan and Ashley head for bed. In the shadows, Cameron approaches the back of the pub, ready to break in…

Meanwhile, Jai knows not to push his dad any further over the Rachel situation, and Nikhil picks up on the tension between his father and brother. Jai is determined to prove to Rishi that he can do the right thing, so he takes Rachel some money to buy furniture for the new place. She is pleased when he promises to look after her and the baby. Later, Rishi knows Jai is sincere about how much he loves Charity and Noah, so he promises to keep quiet.

Elsewhere, Priya is frustrated that secrecy is preventing her and David from being a proper couple, Jimmy is horrified when he discovers Charity's plan to offer Rodney's jobs to the new guy for less money, while there's panic when Gennie suffers pains - but it turns out that she just has indigestion.

Thursday - second episode

Cameron breaks into the pub, checking no-one has heard anything. The next morning, Ashley and Gabby come downstairs to find the pub has been burgled. Chas tells a tearful Diane that she didn't lock the money away, believing that Cameron took it as planned. The police arrive at the pub when Dan suddenly emerges from upstairs with the box of money, explaining that he had seen it and taken it upstairs. Chas feels terrible as she answers the phone to an irritated Cameron, furious for his fruitless efforts.

Cameron tells Chas that he will now have to sell his van, which gives Chas some relief. They're both relieved when Jimmy offers to buy Cameron's van, seeing it as a way of getting one over on Carl. Chas takes the van payment money over to Carl, and he can't help but show the strength of his feelings for her. Chas is gutted when she leaves as she has realised it was never about the money as that is worthless to him - it is all about her and him.

Later, Carl comes into the pub and Chas stands up to him, daring him to tell everyone about her and Cameron. She knows he will not let this lie and will continue to punish her.

Meanwhile, Rodney tries to keep his dignity when he tells Jimmy that he can't return to work for less money. Carl sneers at Jimmy, telling him that he deserves everything he's going to get as Charity has got a plan.

Elsewhere, Rachel feels awkward when Rishi offers to find a car for her to loan as he feels a sense of duty to his grandchild, Priya tells David that she's booked them a holiday in Spain and he agrees to ask Pollard to look after Jacob, Diane is feeling down about news regarding the insurance, while Rhona returns and she bitterly tells Marlon that he got everything he wanted in the end.
Cameron breaks into the Woolpack1 of 2

Friday

Chas warns Cameron that Carl is not going to let the matter drop, despite now having his money. At the same time, Carl is furious to learn that Jimmy has bought Cameron's van, realising his blackmail money is actually Jimmy's. Back at the garage, Cameron squares up to Carl as he winds him up, but when Carl leaves, he takes out his mobile to make a call.

Not long afterwards, the police turn up at the garage, wanting to take Cameron in for questioning about the robbery. Debbie is confused to hear what has happened from Cain. At the police station, Cameron is caught out when PC Bright says they have a witness who says he was involved with the Woolpack burglary.

A frantic Debbie goes to see Chas, who is floored when she is told what has happened to Cameron. Chas tells Debbie to give Cameron an alibi. Later, a steely Debbie heads to the police station, where she lies that Cameron was with her all night and insists she would have noticed if he had gone anywhere. Debbie doesn't believe Cameron when she later quizzes him about what he was really up to, unable to hide her unease.

At the same time, Chas feels wretched as she tells Dan they'll have to cut back even more on the wedding plans. Dan can't believe how cheap it's going to be. Carl enjoys winding Chas up, but later he opens up to her, confessing that he wants to be with her and believes they belong together.

Elsewhere, Edna is disgusted to witness Charity's delight over the fall-out between Carl and Jimmy. Charity asks Jimmy once again about buying him out and he is clearly struggling not to give in, David is thrilled when Pollard agrees to look after Jacob so he and Priya can go away, while Val senses Kerry is not as weak as she is making out.
