Coronation Street star Natalie Gumede has revealed details of Kirsty Soames's next big meltdown.

Kirsty and her partner Tyrone (Alan Halsall) are currently enjoying happier times on the cobbles following the arrival of their baby daughter Ruby. However, this doesn't last for long as Kirsty begins to struggle with the pressures of motherhood once Tyrone returns to work.

When Ruby won't stop crying on a particularly difficult day, Kirsty begins to smash things up at home in a moment of rage. Tyrone is later left horrified when he arrives back and surveys the wreckage, fearing that unstable Kirsty could have harmed their child.

Gumede told All About Soap: "She's on her own in the house and swipes the plates off the table and shouts at the baby. Obviously that's an awful thing to do, but in the realms of what people might expect from Kirsty, this is quite mild! She never harms her child - she's just frustrated and upset."

She continued: "[Tyrone] walks in and Kirsty's thrown the baby mobile across the room so that's by the door. Then he sees the smashed plates - so he runs across the room to Ruby, pushing Kirsty out of the way.

"He picks Ruby up and runs straight to the doctor - he jumps to a conclusion. It's more about his perception of what has or could have happened, because he's suffered at the hands of Kirsty."

Tyrone's trip to the medical centre reveals that Ruby is fine, and he finds himself covering up the reasons for his concerns in front of the doctor.

However, when Tyrone discovers that Kirsty has been lying about attending her counselling sessions, he realises that he still cannot trust her.

Gumede concluded: "Her reasoning to Tyrone is that she's heard it all before and counselling wasn't helping, she couldn't face it and she felt too ashamed. But she promised over and over again to go and hasn't.

"The one thing Tyrone was holding onto was that she was finally admitting what she was doing was wrong, and now she's gone back on that. The promises of being ready to change are not ringing true. She's not ready in her own mind yet, and that's what worries him."

Coronation Street airs these scenes on Monday, September 24 on ITV1.

Coronation Street's Ken Barlow gets a surprising blast from the past later this month as he comes face-to-face with his ex-lover Wendy Crozier.

The story begins when school headteacher Brian Packham hears news that the chair of governors has died, and immediately decides that Ken (Bill Roache) would be the perfect replacement.

Brian (Peter Gunn) has an ulterior motive for approaching Ken, as he is keen to ensure that the vice chair Mrs Papadopolous doesn't take over. Having been well and truly buttered up by Brian, Ken eventually agrees to put himself forward as a candidate.

Later, when Ken arrives at the school's election meeting, he is introduced to the other governors. However, he is in for a shock when he meets Mrs Papadopolous for himself, as he remembers her from when she was known under another name - Wendy Crozier!

Ken is unsettled to be spending time with Wendy (Roberta Kerr) again, and quickly regrets getting involved in any of this.

When the election votes come in, Ken is declared as the winner but he immediately wonders if he should stand down.

Brian's advice is that Ken should go ahead with his new position and keep things professional with Wendy - after all, they're both adults and their affair was 20 years ago.

However, Ken's anxiety remains - Brian has no idea what the name Wendy Crozier can do to Deirdre…

Coronation Street airs these scenes on Monday, September 24 at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV1.

Monday

While Tyrone is away at work, Kirsty is clearly struggling to cope as baby Ruby bawls her head off. Tyrone asks Fiz and Sally to pop round to Number 9 and offer Kirsty some support. However, when Fiz and Sally call on Kirsty, she isn't impressed to see them. Sally lets slip that Tyrone asked them to pop round, and Kirsty quietly fumes at this.

Later, Ruby won't stop crying so Kirsty starts to wreck the house in her rage. When Tyrone returns, he's horrified by what he finds and takes Ruby to the medical centre…

Meanwhile, when Brian hears news that the chair of his governors has died, he instantly decides that Ken would make the perfect replacement in order to prevent the vice chair Mrs Papadopolous from taking over. After being well and truly buttered up, Ken agrees.

At Bessie Street's election meeting, Ken is introduced to the other governors. Ken's thoughts couldn't be further from school matters, however, as he is shocked to come face-to-face with Mrs Papadapolous, who he remembers from when she was known under another name - Wendy Crozier…

Elsewhere, Lloyd worries about Mandy when she tells him that she's been thrown her out of Jenna's house. He heads to Jenna's clinic, but will his new found daughter be pleased to see him?

Also, Michelle is finding it hard to accept that Ryan is besotted with Tracy, while Gloria bars Norris.

Tyrone takes Ruby to see Doctor Carter, convinced that Kirsty may have hurt her during her rampage. There are no signs of damage, so Tyrone bluffs an excuse for his concerns, claiming that Ruby's pram collapsed with her in it.

Later, feeling guilty about lying, Tyrone tells Fiz what really happened. Tyrone then informs her that Kirsty has beaten him in the past, and Fiz is stunned. Fiz tells him that he and Ruby can stay at Number 5 whenever they like. When Tyrone returns home, he phones Kirsty's counsellor for advice. But when he does, he doesn't like what he hears and he's faced again with more of Kirsty's lies…

Meanwhile, Mrs Papadopolous is none other than Wendy Crozier. When Brian finds out about Ken and Wendy's past, he is intrigued to find out more. Ken feels uncomfortable and wishes he'd never agreed to any of this.

When the votes are in, Brian declares Ken as the winner. Wendy congratulates him, suggesting that judging by his speech he's clearly not lost any of his passion. Ken wonders if he should stand down, but Brian reckons they're both adults and the affair was 20 years ago. Ken is anxious, though - Brian has no idea what the name Wendy Crozier can do to Deirdre…

Elsewhere, Lloyd tries to talk Jenna round as she asserts that she wants nothing to do with him. She tells him to leave or she'll call security. Later, Lloyd turns to Eileen for advice and decides to make an appointment at Jenna's clinic so he can be alone with her.

Also, Michelle suggests that Ryan starts paying rent to stop him spending his money on Tracy, while Stella finds herself bartering for Norris's custom.

Wednesday

Tyrone is still steaming due to Kirsty skipping her counselling sessions. After telling Kirsty that he won't be leaving her alone with Ruby again, Tyrone asks Kevin for time off and Kevin begrudgingly obliges.

Later, Kirsty's mum Alison turns up out of the blue. She has plucked up the courage to leave her husband Ed and go behind his back to see her granddaughter for the first time. However, Kirsty panics when she thinks her dad might rock up.

Tyrone insists that Alison should stay with them, as he thinks it will help sort Kirsty out. Kirsty agrees, but reckons it's a bad idea as her dad will come looking for her. Later, as Alison settles in and there's a furious banging on the door, it looks like Kirsty was right to be worried…

Meanwhile, Michelle cringes when she realises that she has booked to have her hair done at the same time as her nemesis Tracy Barlow. While there under the dryers, Tracy just keeps winding Michelle up until she can take no more. Michelle drags Tracy outside, where the curlers start to fly. Michelle bans her from the flat in front of a mortified Ryan.

Elsewhere, Lloyd makes an appointment at Jenna's clinic under a false name. When she sees him there, Jenna is furious. However, Lloyd manages to talk her round to get her to meet with him for a proper chat.

Also today, Ken tells Brian that he wants to resign as the chair of governors as he is worried about the effects Wendy could have on his marriage. Brian then sets up Ken and Wendy in a meeting. Wendy asks Ken not to resign, but will he listen to her?

Friday

Kirsty and Tyrone are grateful for Alison's help and hope she will stick around. Later, Tyrone is with Ruby in the yard when there's a smash from inside. Hurtling in, fearing Ed has returned, Tyrone discovers that Alison has merely smashed a bottle of milk.

When he returns to the yard, however, Tyrone is in for one of the biggest shocks of his life - Ruby is nowhere to be seen…

Meanwhile, Lloyd is taking a new approach to winning round Jenna and takes her to the Bistro, which Lloyd describes as his regular "haunt". However, Jenna sees right through Lloyd. Has he made another terrible mistake?

Elsewhere, Michelle reiterates that Ryan will not bring Tracy home. He ignores her, however, when Tracy rings the buzzer wanting to spend the evening with him. When Michelle returns home early, she's furious to find Tracy and chucks her out. Michelle then turns on Ryan and they have an almighty row. Later, Ryan emerges with a rucksack, but where will he go?

Also, Ken and Wendy meet for a cuppa and agree to put their past behind them for the school's sake, while Izzy, Gary, Tina and Tommy prepare for their first fertility session.

Kirsty is horrified that Ruby has disappeared from her pram, and searches frantically for her with Tyrone and Alison. Alison suggests they go back into Number 9 and call the police. When they do, they find Ed standing there cradling Ruby. Kirsty demands that Ed hands over Ruby, which he does - before telling Alison that she's coming home with him.

Alison goes to pack, but Kirsty won't have it - she rails at Ed for being a tyrant and a bully. Tyrone tries to diffuse the situation, but in doing so Ed loses his temper and punches Tyrone, which results in a fight spilling out onto the street. After her parents leave, Kirsty still rages. Will Tyrone yet again bear the brunt of her fury?

Meanwhile, Tracy is taken aback when Ryan lands on her doorstep with his bags. She tells him she'd love him to stay but Ken wouldn't approve - she won't impose on Ken's goodwill. Later, feeling dejected, Ryan tells Sophie that he has nowhere to stay. She offers to talk to Sally about Rosie's old room. Sally agrees, but what will Michelle say?

As the day continues, Michelle tries to make Ryan realise that Tracy just doesn't want to live with him - but Ryan won't listen…

Elsewhere, after Jenna confesses to a delighted Lloyd that she's more of a pie and chips girl, the pair escape the Bistro for the comfort of The Rovers. The pair bond over hotpots, and Lloyd assures Jenna that he has no intention of replacing her dad. Can Lloyd finally be on the path to having a meaningful relationship with his daughter?

Also, Wendy and Ken catch up on the last two decades, while Izzy snaps after Owen fusses around her following her return from the fertility clinic.

Coronation Street's Natalie Gumede has confirmed that a "fight" will break out after her character's baby is abducted by her father.

The Weatherfield actress, who plays Tyrone's violent girlfriend Kirsty Soames, said that she does not initially suspect cruel dad Ed has stolen baby daughter Ruby.

She told ITV.com: "When Ruby goes missing her first reaction is not that it has anything to do with dad.

"Kirsty has been having a nap upstairs and Ruby was sleeping in the pram outside. She is just in a blind panic knocking on doors and desperate to see if anyone has seen or heard anything."

The star further confirmed that the storyline would end with "a lot of anger" and a "fight" between Tyrone (Alan Halsall), Kirsty, Ed and Alison.

Gumede also expressed her gratitude to producers for bringing her parents Ed and Alison - portrayed by David Lonsdale and Dawn Hope - back to the cobbles.

"I am thrilled that Kirsty's parents are back, it gives such an insight into Kirsty. [Alison] is found at the bus stop by Tyrone and he thinks that this may be the answer to the problem," she added.

"To have the mum there helping out eases the pressure on him and the worry. Her mum says that she has left her dad because she can't take the abuse any more and Tyrone suggests that she stays with them to help with the baby.

"But Kirsty is not immediately receptive, she recognises straight away that dad will come looking and that by mum being at the house they are all placed in danger."

The scenes will air in Corrie's double bill next Friday (September 28).
