EastEnders returnee Sharon Rickman will be seen battling an addiction to painkillers in a new storyline.

Magazine reports have revealed that Sharon (Letitia Dean) heads to an addicts' support group later this month, giving viewers their first glimpse at her secret struggle.

Sharon finds herself under pressure in upcoming episodes as Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) plans a revamp at the Queen Vic, which includes asking his former lover to get back behind the bar.

Unfortunately for Phil, Sharon isn't at all keen on the idea due to the bad memories that the pub holds for her.

When Phil seems reluctant to take no for an answer, Sharon begins to crack under the stress of the situation - struggling to resist the temptation of the addiction she's been hiding since her return to Albert Square.

Keen to stay in control, it's at this point that Sharon visits the support group at the community centre to pour her heart out.

Reports say that Phil later apologises for his harsh behaviour towards Sharon, so it seems that she could be staying at the R&R where she feels more comfortable. But will Sharon be able to beat her addiction, and is there anything in particular which drove her to this situation in the first place?

EastEnders kicks off the storyline on Monday, September 24 at 8pm on BBC One.

Roxy Mitchell's love life is likely to keep Walford gossiping in upcoming episodes of EastEnders.

It's been revealed today (September 11) that Roxy (Rita Simons) will be getting passionate with AJ Ahmed towards the end of the month, after they bond over drinks at the Queen Vic.

The pair get talking after Christian Clarke stands Roxy up at the pub, and it's not long before AJ (Phaldut Sharma) takes his admirer back to the Masood house and into his bedroom…

At this early stage it's unclear whether this will stay as a one-off, or if either will want to see the other again.

What we do know is that Roxy will subsequently be getting involved in ex-boyfriend Michael's storyline following Janine's departure, attempting to help him when she sees that he is at breaking point.

Roxy wants to provide support for Michael (Steve John Shepherd) as a friend, but will the time she's spending with him raise eyebrows on Albert Square? And could the lines become blurred for either party?

EastEnders airs the latest Roxy dramas from Monday, September 24 at 8pm on BBC One.

Over on EastEnders, romantic sparks fly between Roxy Mitchell and AJ Ahmed.

When Roxy (Rita Simons) is stood up by Christian in an upcoming episode, it coincides with AJ also feeling bored - so he suggests that they should go for a cheeky afternoon drink together.

The pair clearly enjoy each other's company and there seems to be a chemistry between them, so AJ (Phaldut Sharma) later decides to take things further by inviting Roxy over to the Masood house.

When the pair arrive together, Zainab is left seething over the lack of respect that AJ has for her home - and Masood backs her up by making it clear that Roxy should leave.

AJ reluctantly shows Roxy the door, but can't resist going in for a kiss as he does so! Realising that Roxy really does seem to be keen on him, AJ risks the wrath of his family by sneaking her upstairs…

EastEnders airs these scenes on Monday, September 24 at 8pm on BBC One.

Monday

A lonely Phil receives some bad news, but continues to throw himself into sorting out The Vic. Soon afterwards, the day gets worse when Cora arrives and reveals that someone has vandalised The Arches by spray-painting 'RIP HEV' across the doors. The reasons why become clear when Phil spots that the Walford Gazette has published a front page story regarding Ben's trial.

When Sharon pays Phil a visit with some ideas for the R&R, he snaps at her to forget about the club and run The Vic for him instead. Already feeling uneasy about being upstairs in her old home, Sharon refuses. Phil vows to fire Sharon from the club unless she agrees, but she stands firm and warns him not to threaten her. At breaking point, Phil blurts out the real reasons for his bad day - he has learned that Ben is being tried for murder, not manslaughter.

As Phil takes his place back behind the bar, he is short-tempered with the locals and bars Jay from the pub. At the same time, a stressed Sharon has headed over to an addicts anonymous group at the community centre - and she steps forward when the counsellor asks if anyone would like to speak…

Meanwhile, Tamwar panics when he spots a cheque stub missing at the restaurant, as he cannot account for the discrepancy. Syed is keen to cover up his recent theft, so he tells his younger brother that he has called the bank and it was for a small amount made payable for cash. Tamwar says that it must have been his mistake, an assumption which Syed is happy to go along with.

Elsewhere, Roxy spends an afternoon drinking with AJ after Christian stands her up. When things get flirty, AJ takes Roxy back to the Masood house and risks Zainab's wrath by secretly leading her upstairs. Zainab is appalled to hear laughter and giggles from AJ's room as she feels he is disrespecting the family home.

Also today, Patrick catches Lola and Abi stealing cleaning products from Butchers Joints for her new business idea. Patrick reminds Lola that with her track record, she can't risk losing Lexi by getting up to no good.

Tuesday

Masood realises that Syed may be struggling when he spots him handing over some cleaning products to Lola. His suspicions are confirmed when AJ lets slip that Syed's business deal with Michael fell through. Keen to find out what is going on for himself, Masood pays a secret visit to Syed's lock-up and is stunned to see the huge amount of products he still has left to sell. Masood realises that Syed may be up to his old tricks, so he starts to go through the accounts at the Argee Bhajee for peace of mind.

Syed becomes aware that Masood has been doing some digging when he visits the lock-up and finds his father's ID there, which he had earlier dropped without realising. Syed immediately decides to sell all of the stock at an extremely low price just to get rid of it. Later, when Masood confronts his son about the cleaning products, Syed produces a cheque for the sale - falsely implying that it's just a deposit, not the full amount.

Masood has also discovered discrepancies at the restaurant, but Tamwar explains that he is to blame for this as he made a mistake with a missing cheque stub. Zainab forces Masood to apologise to Syed, who's left feeling guilty about his brother being blamed for his deception.

Meanwhile, Sharon is working at the R&R as usual, but she is feeling severely tempted to take some of the painkillers she has stored inside her bag. Later, an apologetic Phil makes one last attempt to convince Sharon to run The Vic, but she refuses due to the bad memories it holds for her. Keen to push forward, Phil announces to Jean and Fatboy that he's going to completely redecorate the upstairs of the pub. At the same time, Sharon locks her painkillers away to avoid temptation and gives the key to Joey, asking him to look after it for her.

Elsewhere, Michael hires a private investigator to help find Janine. However, his most immediate concern is trying to juggle work and looking after Scarlett. When he bumps into Roxy, the pair end up exchanging childcare tips. Michael then invites Roxy to dinner, where they bond further over parenting.

Also today, Lola tries to convince Patrick that the cleaning business would be a good idea - but he stands firm by insisting that she mustn't get involved in anything that isn't 100% legit.

Thursday

Syed faces even more problems when debt collector Adam arrives at the Argee Bhajee, demanding the repayments. However, Syed continues to cover his tracks by telling Tamwar that Adam is a salesman. Syed manages to get rid of Adam for a short while, but when he returns, he tells Syed that he must find £9,000 within the next ten days.

At the same time, a group of city boys arrive at the restaurant - with charming Danny Pennant clearly the leader of the pack. When Danny gets talking to Syed and senses that he is troubled, he encourages him that it may be useful to confide in a stranger. Syed then confesses all, revealing everything including his financial problems and how the Masoods struggled to accept his sexuality. Danny encourages Syed to just be honest with his family about the money troubles.

Back at the Masood house, however, Syed has clearly decided that honesty isn't the best policy and he lies to Zainab, claiming that Tamwar has got them into a lot more debt than they had originally thought. A shocked Zainab immediately reveals that she has savings accounts for Tamwar and Kamil and will use the money to pay off the debt. Syed is left feeling more guilty than ever…

Meanwhile, Joey is keen for him and Alice to see their mum on her birthday, but he is busy running a junior disco for Sharon that afternoon. Keen as ever to build bridges, Derek offers to give them both a lift once Joey has finished work.

A cunning Joey soon launches a new plot by reminiscing with Derek about his old car, saying that it would be great to have a ride in a 'Triumph Stag' for old times' sake. Well aware that Derek will get hold of the car illegally, Joey then phones the police to report that there will be a stolen vehicle outside R&R that afternoon. Will his plan pay off?

Elsewhere, Lucy wonders where she stands with Joey after he fails to invite her to meet his mum, while Roxy agrees to pay another visit to Michael as a friend - vowing to ignore the gossips who are talking about them.

Friday

Michael wakes up to find that Scarlett is no longer in the house. He initially wonders whether Janine has returned, but it turns out that Roxy has merely been to the shops with her. Struggling with his current situation, Michael takes his temper out on Roxy by ordering her to leave - insisting that he doesn't need her running around after him.

Later, Jack notices that Michael is behaving strangely when they are busy discussing a potential sponsorship deal. Jack then asks Roxy to come over to help with the situation. Roxy arrives just as Michael is showing the sponsorship client round, so she goes into the office to check on Scarlett. Michael is furious that she is getting involved in his life again, and struggles to stay calm in front of the client.

Alone with Roxy, Michael admits that he's had news from the private investigator - Janine left the country eight days ago. He then confesses that he was relieved when he thought Scarlett had gone this morning. At the end of his tether, Michael hands his baby daughter over to Roxy, pushes her out of the office and closes the door…

Meanwhile, Danny turns up to see Syed at work and there is a clear attraction between them. Danny then asks Syed out for a drink that night. At that moment, Christian arrives unexpectedly and is oblivious to the chemistry between the pair. When Syed arrives home, he is surprised to see that Christian has invited over Zainab and Masood - they're all having a night together with no kids. Soon afterwards, Zainab hands over her savings to Syed as planned. Later, Christian notices that a guilt-ridden Syed is distracted. It's clear that he has a lot on his mind as he looks at the money from Zainab and Danny's card…

Elsewhere, Phil asks Roxy to take over as the manager of the bar and also ploughs ahead with his plans for the re-decoration.

EastEnders fans see Gary Lucy's guest stint begin next week as his character Danny Pennant strikes up a bond with Syed Masood.

City banker Danny arrives at the Argee Bhajee just as Syed (Marc Elliott) is facing a particularly difficult time in his life, struggling to cover his tracks after stealing from the restaurant.

Danny turns up with a number of other city boys, and at first Syed clearly isn't impressed by any of them as he overhears their conversations.

However, when Danny later starts talking to Syed alone, events take a twist as he shows a caring side, sensing that the Walford resident is troubled.

Danny suggests to Syed that it may be useful to confide in a stranger, and soon enough he is listening intently as Syed opens up about his financial problems and much more.

The next day, Danny pays another visit to the Argee Bhajee and there is a noticeable chemistry between him and Syed as they enjoy a business lunch. Danny surprises Syed by inviting him out for a drink later, but at that moment Christian (John Partridge) arrives unexpectedly.

Christian is oblivious to the fact that there may be an attraction between the pair, but with reports of a love triangle on the way, should he be worried?

EastEnders airs these scenes on Thursday, September 27 and Friday, September 28 on BBC One.

onight's episode sees Joey (David Witts) attempt to manipulate his dad as they chat at the R&R, reminiscing over Derek's old Triumph Stag car.

When Joey admits that it would be good to have a ride in a Triumph Stag for old times' sake, Derek (Jamie Foreman) immediately promises to make it happen that afternoon.

Convinced that Derek will get hold of the car illegally, Joey makes a phone call to the police to report that there'll soon be a stolen vehicle outside R&R.

Joey believes that he's found the perfect way to drop Derek in hot water, but fans will have to wait and see whether the Albert Square villain falls into the trap…
