Coronation Street fans see Lloyd Mullaney's life change forever later this month as he discovers that he is a father.

The drama begins when Lloyd (Craig Charles) has a chance meeting with a former flame named Mandy in an upcoming episode.

Lloyd is delighted to have the chance to catch up with Mandy (Pamela Nomvete), as he's always thought of her as 'the one that got away'. However, while he is keen to have her back in his life again, Mandy seems hesitant to revisit the past.

When Lloyd persists with Mandy and pops round to her house, he is stunned to see that she has a daughter named Jenna (Krissi Bohn), who she had failed to mention in their earlier meeting.

Back on the cobbles, an intrigued Lloyd tries to work out how old Jenna is. With the dates matching and Mandy's sketchy behaviour speaking for itself, Lloyd realises that Jenna could be his.

Confiding in Eileen about the full story, Lloyd explains that he'd always been keen on Mandy, but his best mate Johnny got in first and married her. Johnny - who has since died - wasn't the best of husbands and for a while Mandy turned to him for comfort, leading to an affair.

When Lloyd confronts Mandy with his suspicious over Jenna, she instantly dismisses them. However, Lloyd can't let this go - convinced that he is right.

In the end, Lloyd heads back to Mandy's place, leading to an awkward atmosphere as Jenna is present once again.

Jenna soon realises that something is amiss, and when she learns that her mum had a fling with Lloyd, she immediately has questions of her own to ask!

Having always thought that Johnny was her father, how will Jenna react when she learns that her dad is actually Lloyd?

Coronation Street airs these scenes on Friday, September 21 at 7.30pm on ITV1.

Monday

Tina tries to make Tommy see that the surrogacy plan will make no difference to their relationship, but he won't listen. Tommy then heads off to see Owen, and begs him not to make Tina do the surrogacy. At the same time, Tina pours her heart out to Rita about the state of her and Tommy's relationship, without giving away too many of the details.

Encouraged following her heart-to-heart with Rita, Tina decides to have another go at persuading Tommy that she's doing the right thing, but he insists that he wants nothing to do with it. Tommy tells her that he can't promise he'll be at home when she gets back and leaves Tina in pieces. Later, when Rita tackles Tommy for hurting Tina, she's stunned by what he tells her…

Meanwhile, Kirk stays silent as the factory is buzzing about the bloke Beth is hoping to bag, but he later offers to give her a lift to her date with destiny. When they arrive outside a pub on a rough estate, Kirk notices that Beth is quite nervous beneath the bravado. He bolsters her confidence by telling her that she looks gorgeous. Kirk then watches forlornly as she heads into the pub.

Inside, Beth is taken aback when her date Dave looks nothing like his web picture. After knocking back his drink, Dave suggests that they should cut to the chase and go back to his place. Beth scoffs at this, asserting that she's not that easy. When Dave reckons at their age they can't afford not to be, Beth goes on the attack. She then leaves the pub with Dave in pursuit. He starts threatening her, but thankfully she has a white knight waiting to swoop in to the rescue…

Elsewhere, Sunita tells Karl that Dev offered her a job at the shop. To her surprise, Karl tells her to take the job as they need the money. Later, Dev is cold and business-like to Sunita at the shop. Soon afterwards, Dev hears Karl discussing plans to cook a special meal for Sunita. He grins, hatching a plan…

Also, a discovery in his cab gives Lloyd an excuse to visit Mandy.

As Owen watches on, Rita tackles Tina, who confirms Tommy's bombshell. Rita reminds Tina that what she's doing isn't legal, before offering her money if that's what she needs. However, Tina insists that she knows what she's doing and the legalities will be fine if no-one finds out.

Later, Tina returns home and crumbles when she realises that Tommy has gone. Owen sees Tommy at the bus stop with his bags and tells him that he's a fool for leaving - Tina's making a sacrifice to rescue him from his own mess, and doing something wonderful for Gary and Izzy at the same time. Owen's words have clearly had an impact on Tommy, but will they make him change his mind?

Meanwhile, picking Kirk up off the ground from where he's been floored by Dave, Beth quickly helps him into the van and tells him to drive. On the way back, they run out of fuel. Kirk heads off to a service station with Beth, who's still grateful for his intervention and horrified that he was hurt.

During the walk along the hard shoulder, Beth and Kirk share tales of their lacklustre love lives. Beth reckons it's never been easy, but Kirk tells her that he can't understand why - he thinks she's lovely. Are the pair getting close enough to share a goodnight kiss when they get back to Weatherfield?

Elsewhere, Lloyd presents Mandy with the bracelet she left in his cab last night. He doesn't notice her reticence as he invites himself in for a cuppa. As Lloyd sips his tea, Mandy subtly tries to get him to go. When he doesn't take the hint, she tells him that she has no interest in revisiting their friendship and asks him to leave. Later, Eileen tells Lloyd that it's probably for the best - there's little to be gained from harking back to the past. Lloyd supposes she's right, but it's clear he's not entirely convinced.

Also, Dev ruins Karl's romantic gesture by keeping Sunita back late, while Gloria reads about a Pub of the Year competition and forms a plan.

Wednesday

Lloyd is restless as he thinks about Mandy, and eventually decides that he won't take no for an answer - he wants her in his life somehow. He returns to Mandy's home and is surprised when a young woman named Jenna opens the door and claims that Mandy is her mum. Lloyd leaves hurt that Mandy told him she didn't have any kids.

Later, Lloyd explains to Eileen that he'd always been keen on Mandy, but his best mate Johnny got in first and married her. Johnny wasn't the best of husbands and for a while Mandy turned to him for comfort - they had an affair. As he's working out how old Jenna is and when she must have been born, Mandy storms into the cab office. She rails at Lloyd for coming back to the house. What will she say when Lloyd asks her outright if Jenna is actually his daughter?

Meanwhile, though glad to be back with Tina, Tommy is still awkward about the surrogacy. Things become more stressful when Kirsty flips as Tina pays the week's money minus 20 quid. Also, Tommy reveals that the pizza parlour have decided to settle out of court, but he still owes them two grand and has to start paying immediately. Tina decides that she has no other option - she has to ask Owen for an advance on her surrogacy fee. When Owen says that he can't help, there is some hope as he offers a solution to another problem.

Elsewhere, when Beth is evasive about her date, Fiz clocks Kirk's eye and knows something's up. She tackles Beth, who tells her what really happened. Fiz has a go at her for taking advantage of Kirk. It soon becomes clear, however, that Beth is actually quite smitten with him. Fiz encourages her to go for it.

Also today, Gloria convinces Stella to take part in the Pub of the Year competition, but she enters herself as the landlady.

Friday

Lloyd has had a sleepless night after his encounters with Mandy and Jenna. He is growing increasingly convinced that regardless of Mandy's denials, the girl is his daughter. Eileen tells Lloyd that he needs to stop his train of thought, forget he met Mandy again and move on.

However, Lloyd decides that he can't, so he goes back to Mandy's. Discovering that Jenna is once more alone, he asks if he can wait for her mother. Jenna agrees and is soon being charmed when Mandy lands. Mandy orders Lloyd out, but he insists that he needs answers. When Jenna learns that Lloyd and Mandy had a fling years ago, she soon has questions of her own...

Meanwhile, it's a busy day for Tina with her first trip to the clinic to fit in with moving into Owen's flat. During her one-to-one interview, Tess the counsellor lays down the bare facts of what Tina is about to embark on. Izzy and Gary are clearly concerned about Tina having second thoughts, but she assures them that Tess told her nothing she hadn't already thought about herself. Once again, however, she is concerned that she won't see any cash until the process has started and this is still weeks away. For a second time, she turns to Owen for help.

Elsewhere, Stella arrives home and is stunned to discover that Gloria has turned The Rovers into a B&B. Her mother is in deeper hot water when the full picture of the chaos she has created emerges, including barring Norris.

Also, word of Beth and Kirk's budding romance gets round. The only person who doesn't seem to know anything about it, however, is Kirk!

Lloyd and Jenna try to take Mandy's revelation in, as she attempts to find excuses for her decades' worth of deceit. After Jenna leaves in disgust, Mandy rails at Lloyd for blowing her family apart. Lloyd leaves feeling guilty, not sure that he can ever fix the situation he has stirred up.

Later, when Eileen and Paul have taken Lloyd for a drink, his hopes are buoyed when Jenna appears. He suggests they go somewhere to talk in private, but Jenna refuses. She'd like everyone to hear what she has to say….

Meanwhile, Tina opens up to Owen about how much his kindness means to her and Tommy. She lays this on thickly, as she's preparing to ask him for money again. She doesn't need to, however, as later Izzy tells Owen how much Tina means to her and Gary - she'd hate it if anything went wrong.

Owen realises that things may indeed go wrong if Tina doesn't get an advance, so he turns up to the flat and presents Tommy and Tina with £5,000. Tina can't wait to see Kirsty's face as they pay Tyrone off in one fell swoop. However, Tommy insists that Tina gives £2,000 to the pizza parlour to pay off the debt he owes them.

Elsewhere, still going on about the Pub of the Year competition, Gloria installs a comment box in The Rovers. She mithers the punters to place their complimentary comments in the comment box in order to win the competition. Stella gets increasingly annoyed by Gloria pestering her customers, and in despair she warns Gloria to stop harassing everyone.

Also, it might be love as Kirk and Beth get closer.

Coronation Street star Lisa George has praised the decision to pair up her character Beth Tinker with Kirk Sutherland.

Romance begins to blossom between the unlikely couple this week after Kirk saves Beth from a nightmare date.

Tonight's (September 17) Coronation Street double bill sees Beth head off to a pub to meet a potential boyfriend named Dave after making contact with him on a dating website.

Kirk gives Beth a lift to the meeting, but he later turns out to be her knight in shining armour by rescuing her when Dave turns nasty.

Grateful for Kirk's support, Beth begins to see her factory co-worker in a whole new light - and it could be love between the pair.

George told Digital Spy of the storyline: "It's really nice having one-to-one scenes. There are some lovely scenes coming up between Beth and Kirk, and it gives the audience a chance to see another side of Beth.

"Usually the viewers only see Beth as the really gobby person in the factory. But there are some really nice, tender little moments in this storyline, and Beth is quite open and honest with Kirk. I think it's really nice that the audience will get to see that."

Asked whether Beth and Kirk would make a good long-term couple, she replied: "Yeah, I think they would actually. I wonder whether she'd be able to keep him under the thumb - usually she's quite strong and he's quite a soft character, isn't he? But I think it'll be quite funny, getting them together."

George added that she is delighted to be working closely with Andrew Whyment, who plays the role of Kirk.

She said: "He's absolutely lovely. He's so gracious as an actor, really giving, and he's lovely to work with. I hadn't worked with him before so I was a little bit nervous, but he's absolutely adorable."

Coronation Street kicks off the storyline tonight at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV1.

Coronation Street actor Chris Fountain has spoken about the impact of character Owen Armstrong on rescuing his on-screen relationship.

Fountain's alter ego Tommy Duckworth is on the verge of leaving Weatherfield in tonight's second episode until Owen's intervention.

Tommy's planned departure comes about after his girlfriend Tina (Michelle Keegan) agrees to be a surrogate mother for Izzy and Gary.

"Owen tells Tommy he'll never find another girl as good as Tina and his words hit home," Fountain told What's on TV.

"Tommy does appreciate the sacrifice she's making, but it's a huge dent to his pride."

The actor further explains: "The whole situation is too much for him. Their lives are in such a mess that his girlfriend is having to have a baby for someone else.

"He's hurting a lot and thinks everyone would be better off if he left for good. He's at the bus stop with his bags packed when Owen finds him."

Further details about Coronation Street's forthcoming surrogacy plotline have apparently emerged.

Tina McIntyre (Michelle Keegan) will have doubts about carrying a baby for Izzy Armstrong (Cherylee Houston), according to the Daily Star.

However, when Tina tries to back out of the arrangement, she is threatened by Izzy's overbearing father Owen (Ian Puleston-Davies), who says that he will hurt Tina's boyfriend Tommy Duckworth (Chris Fountain) if she changes her mind.

Tina was seen arguing about the surrogacy plans with her reluctant partner in Monday night's double bill (September 17).

A delighted Tommy then approaches Rita Tanner (Barbara Knox) for the money to pay Owen back - unaware that the builder's threats have caused Tina to change her mind again and go ahead with the surrogacy.

"Tina goes to the clinic behind his back," a show insider said. "He's distraught, but of course he doesn't know she's only doing it to protect him."

Coronation Street airs on ITV1.

Yep I can see Owen being a bully
