Coronation Street viewers will see Ryan Connor's behaviour spiral out of control next month as he attempts to do a runner from Weatherfield.

Ryan (Sol Heras) causes more heartache for adoptive mum Michelle in the coming days when she realises that he is high on drugs again, leading to another furious argument between the pair.

As the dust settles, Ryan decides that it's best for him to leave the cobbles as Michelle would be happier without him.

Putting a plan into action, Ryan stuffs a few things into a bag and grabs Michelle's factory keys. Checking that the coast is clear, he then makes his way into Underworld and begins searching the place for petty cash.

Ryan gets more than he bargained for, however, when Rob Donovan (Marc Baylis) arrives and goes on the attack - failing to realise who the burglar is.

As Ryan lies unconscious on the floor, a shocked Rob considers calling the police. But will Michelle let Ryan be reported to the authorities for a second time?

Sunday

Hour-long episode

Ryan tells Michelle that he thinks he should leave, as she'd be happier without him. However, she rightly points out that he has no money to go anywhere else. Later, Michelle shares her concerns with Steve about Ryan possibly doing a flit, but they're interrupted when Tracy turns up. Tracy explains that she has a job interview, so Steve will have to look after Amy. Impressed by Tracy's efforts, he agrees.

Alone in the flat, Ryan comes to a decision. He stuffs a few things in a bag and grabs Michelle's factory keys. When Michelle discovers that Ryan has gone, she and Steve head off to find him, leaving a furious Tracy in the lurch. Ryan, however, is hiding and watches them leave. When the coast is clear, he heads to the factory. Searching the place for petty cash, he's in for more than he bargained for when Rob arrives and goes on the attack, mistaking him for a burglar.

Soon afterwards, Michelle arrives at the factory to find Ryan semi-conscious. Rob is all for calling the police, but Steve urges him not to. Relenting, Rob instead helps Steve to get Ryan to A&E. After being checked over, Ryan claims that he wasn't breaking in - he was only looking for Michelle. Rob asserts that Ryan is lying, but Ryan retaliates by telling the doctor to call the police - he wants to report an assault. Rob is shocked by Ryan's behaviour - he's still on probation so if he's found guilty of GBH, he'll go straight back behind bars. He pleads with Michelle to open her eyes - Ryan is lying.

Later, after he's discharged, Ryan finally breaks down. He admits that he was planning to rob the factory to find cash for a fix and he hates what's happening to him. As Michelle holds him, he promises to tell the police the truth to save Rob. Deciding that he can't let Michelle cope with Ryan on her own, Steve decides to move in with her. How will Tracy, still seething at missing her job interview, react to this?

Meanwhile, Rita tells Tina that Owen is advertising for someone to do the books - it might be a job she can do in addition to working at the pub. Tina asks Owen, and though he's reluctant at first, he finally backs down and gives her a chance. Later, Tina proves that she's an asset to Owen, who gives her the job full time.

Back at home, Tommy has good news for Tina too - he's got a night job at a warehouse in Salford. They work their shifts out and realise they won't be seeing much of each other over the next few weeks, but maybe at last their run of bad luck is at an end…

Elsewhere, Paul gives pride of place to a hideous vase that once belonged to Lesley. Not wanting to hurt his feelings, Eileen can do little but accept this. Later, Eileen is cooking dinner for Jason and Maria and invites Sean. To save face in front of a passing Marcus, Sean declines and invites a hot date. Eileen then invites Marcus and Aiden instead.

Later, Sean arrives home slightly worse for wear and keeps up the pretence that he's been on a date, until an irritated Aiden calls his bluff. Sean's emotions proceed to get the better of him and in a drunken stumble, he heads towards Lesley's vase before Eileen can stop him.

Also today, Sunita is horrified when it turns out that Karl's smoke alarms are all faulty. She has no other option but to face the music and confess to Dev that she's cleared out their bank account.

Monday
Despite being exhausted, Tommy is pushing for extra shifts with the security firm to pay off his debt to Tyrone as soon as possible. It's clear that working so hard is taking its toll, and later Tommy falls asleep in the café, almost missing his shift delivering pizzas.

At the same time, Kirsty reminds Tyrone that it's pay day for Tommy, and she'll deal with it. Tyrone insists that he'll do it after work, but Kirsty ignores this and goes round to see Tommy herself, demanding the dosh. Later, Tina takes the money to Kirsty and insists that she deals with her in future. Furious that Kirsty keeps berating Tommy for losing Tyrone's money, Tina begins to bite back. Will Tina's words lead to Kirsty's rage spinning out of control?

Meanwhile, Michelle is delighted when Steve secures Ryan a job at Dev's kebab shop. The job had originally been offered to Tracy, who turned it down in disgust. When Tracy sees Ryan working in her place, however, she hatches a plan and goes back to see Dev. Later, Ryan is surprised when Tracy arrives at the kebab shop, announcing that she's his new assistant. But what are her real motives for taking a job she earlier felt was beneath her?

Elsewhere, Eileen does her best to make sure that Paul doesn't notice the missing vase. Browsing online, she finds a shop with one in stock. Sean is shocked by the price tag, but Eileen reminds him of how much the vase will mean to Paul - it was part of his life with Lesley. Later, with the new vase in place, Paul starts to tell Eileen a funny story about it. However, what will he say when he notices that the crack that's been in the vase for years has somehow repaired itself?

Also, Karl tells Sunita that he has a few hours' work driving cabs - will she be impressed?

When Kirsty hears of Julie's plans to move, she slyly mentions the fact that Jason is selling the flat. Later, when Julie asks Jason for a viewing, Tina is anxious that she's about to become homeless. Tina asks Julie how she found out the flat was for sale. When she finds out it was Kirsty, Tina is baying for blood.

Later, Kirsty's mischief continues when she orders a pizza. When Tommy rocks up to deliver it, she kicks up a fuss, claiming it's the wrong order. After replacing it, he misses his bus to the security job so takes the pizza van instead. But as he sets off dead on his legs, his fatigue is about to place him in peril…

Meanwhile, Michelle and Steve are taken aback to discover who Ryan's new work mate is. Tracy ignores Michelle as she curses under her breath, though Steve is pleased to see that she has finally made the effort to get a job. Later, Tracy invites herself to the flat for a nightcap, knowing that Michelle and Steve are out. As she cranks up her seduction tactics, Ryan feels himself slowly succumbing to her charms…

Elsewhere, Eileen admits that she thought Sean had caused the crack, so she replaced the vase. A laughing Paul admits that he always hated the vase - he just thought since Lesley had loved it Eileen might too. Later, Paul feels terrible that he's made Eileen feel uncomfortable in her own home. Eileen insists that it's his house too now - it's high time to make it their own. They decide to give the place an overhaul.

Also today, Karl begs Stella to take him back again - will she buckle or stand strong?

Wednesday

Stella and Eva are woken up by somebody banging loudly on the pub door - and they're shocked to find that it's Gloria, Stella's mum. Stella and Eva listen as Gloria explains that all is not well in Spain and she needs to lay low for a while.

Gloria is upset to hear of Karl's affair and manages to wangle his address from Eva. She heads round and demands to know exactly what's been happening. Karl points the finger of blame firmly in Sunita's direction, seeing Gloria's arrival as a chance to win his way back into Stella's heart.

After meeting her long-lost granddaughter Leanne, Gloria engineers a meeting between Stella and Karl, hoping they can sort their problems out. However, Stella's reaction takes them both by surprise.

Meanwhile, Tina falls to pieces when the police inform her of Tommy's crash. As the word spreads, Kirsty is apathetic - but Tyrone is clearly shocked by the news. Tina arrives at the hospital with Rita and they find a groggy Tommy suffering from a broken leg. The doctor tells them that it will take up to three months for Tommy to recover from his injuries. There's no way they'll pay off their debts now.

Things take another turn for the worse when Tommy's pizza parlour boss arrives with devastating news about the van that Tommy has written off in the accident…

Elsewhere, Michelle and Steve are stunned as Tracy emerges from Ryan's room. Michelle practically drags her out of the flat, despite Ryan's protests. Michelle and Steve try to make it clear to Ryan on how many levels his relationship with Tracy is wrong, but he won't listen. Later Ken suggests a tactic to Michelle and Steve about dealing with Tracy. Will it work and will Michelle be able to follow his advice?

Also today, Eileen and Paul clash over colour schemes - who will come out on top?

Coronation Street star Kate Ford has admitted that Tracy Barlow finds her upcoming relationship with Ryan Connor "very flattering".

Tracy makes a play for Ryan (Sol Heras) next week in a desperate bid to annoy Michelle and Steve, as she is furious that the former couple have reunited.

With Ryan up for some fun, it's not long before Tracy's latest scheme is working perfectly as they begin dating.

Ford told All About Soap: "Ryan doesn't put up a fight. I think he loves the fact that she's outrageously flirty, and he quite likes that his mum is going to be annoyed with it.

"And I do think he fancies her as well, which is very flattering because he's young and really good-looking."

Ford continued: "Michelle just can't believe it - it's her worst nightmare come true. Michelle loves her son, and she's spent all this time trying to get him off drugs, and then she finds him with her rival Tracy - it's brilliant.

"At the moment, I think Tracy's just enjoying the situation she's created. She's getting to sleep with this beautiful boy, and she can see that Steve and Michelle are getting more and more wound up, which is exactly what she wants."

Coronation Street kicks off the storyline on Monday (September 3) as Tracy and Ryan begin working at the kebab shop together.

Coronation Street star Kate Ford has admitted that she was "nervous" when she heard about Tracy Barlow's upcoming fling with a younger man.

This week's episodes see Tracy embark on a relationship with Ryan Connor (Sol Heras) after they begin working together at Dev Alahan's kebab shop.

While Ryan is delighted with the new romance, he is unaware that Tracy's main aim is to annoy Michelle and Steve.

Discussing her initial reaction to the story, Ford told itv.com: "I was quite nervous, actually. I'm 34 and obviously he's a lot younger, so I felt slightly out of my comfort zone. When we did the first kissing scene, we were both really nervous, however now we're absolutely fine as we've done it a hundred times!

"What is great about this story is that it's quite funny and I was looking forward to doing something comedic rather than dark, so it's a laugh."

Meanwhile, asked why Tracy wants Steve so much, the actress replied: "I think it's that old classic of wanting what you can't have. I don't know how she'd feel if she ever got him, whether she'd be bored after a year or two.

"I think it's because she's never truly had him that she's so anxious to have him in her life. She can't bear the fact that he doesn't fancy her and he doesn't love her."

Coronation Street kicks off the Tracy and Ryan story tonight (September 3) at 7.30pm on ITV1.

Tonight's episode sees Sue Johnston's first scenes in the role of Gloria, who arrives on the cobbles to pay a visit to daughter Stella.

Unable to resist interfering, Gloria eventually heads off to see Karl and slaps him as they come face-to-face again.

However, it's also clear that Gloria has a soft spot for Karl, so when he confesses that he's still in love with Stella, she vows to play peacemaker by sorting out their differences…
