CORRIE’S Kirk Sutherland has never exactly been a knockout with the ladies – but his luck might just change after he gets punched in the face.
The gormless knicker-packer is hit in the mouth by a burly bloke who has had a pint thrown over him by gobby factory worker Beth Tinker.
Lovable Kirk, played by Andy Whyment, falls to the floor outside a rough Weatherfield pub in upcoming soap scenes — and Beth (Lisa George) ends up rolling around in the gutter with him.
She is later spotted leaning in close to tend to his wounded jaw in his Underworld van.
Could Beth be about to plant a smacker of a different kind on Kirk’s kisser?

Coronation Street star Lisa George has praised the decision to pair up her character Beth Tinker with Kirk Sutherland.
Romance begins to blossom between the unlikely couple this week after Kirk saves Beth from a nightmare date.
Tonight's (September 17) Coronation Street double bill sees Beth head off to a pub to meet a potential boyfriend named Dave after making contact with him on a dating website.
Kirk gives Beth a lift to the meeting, but he later turns out to be her knight in shining armour by rescuing her when Dave turns nasty.
Grateful for Kirk's support, Beth begins to see her factory co-worker in a whole new light - and it could be love between the pair.
George told Digital Spy of the storyline: "It's really nice having one-to-one scenes. There are some lovely scenes coming up between Beth and Kirk, and it gives the audience a chance to see another side of Beth.
"Usually the viewers only see Beth as the really gobby person in the factory. But there are some really nice, tender little moments in this storyline, and Beth is quite open and honest with Kirk. I think it's really nice that the audience will get to see that."
Asked whether Beth and Kirk would make a good long-term couple, she replied: "Yeah, I think they would actually. I wonder whether she'd be able to keep him under the thumb - usually she's quite strong and he's quite a soft character, isn't he? But I think it'll be quite funny, getting them together."
George added that she is delighted to be working closely with Andrew Whyment, who plays the role of Kirk.
She said: "He's absolutely lovely. He's so gracious as an actor, really giving, and he's lovely to work with. I hadn't worked with him before so I was a little bit nervous, but he's absolutely adorable."
Coronation Street kicks off the storyline tonight at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV1.

Despite the fact that Beth's condition is easily treatable, the scare gives Kirk food for thought and he decides that he wants to make their relationship more official.
Later, Kirk confides in Chesney that Beth's health scare has made him realise how much he loves her and wants to marry her. Will he pluck up the courage and propose?

Beth and Kirk's wedding episodes are expected to air in the New Year, after they have spent the festive season putting the finishing touches to their ceremony.
As shown in the pictures above, the comic couple will go all-out with the '80s theme as they strive to have a wedding that Weatherfield will remember forever.
Sinead Tinker, Tracy Barlow and Maria Connor will be bridesmaids at the happy event, while the wedding car will also be eye-catching as a classic campervan is used for the occasion.

With Beth and Sinead working at a factory with access to sewing machines and fabric, I`m surprised they didn`t try to make a wedding dress and bridesmaids dresses there.
Hayley ill with cancer managed to make a beautiful wedding gown for Carla. I`m sure Carla would have allowed Beth to use the Underworld machines knowing how lovingly Hayley made her gown.

Coronation Street's Kirk Sutherland is to take centre stage in his own online spinoff.
The hapless character, played by Andrew Whyment, will star in a five-part mini-series titled What Would Kirk Do? over the next few weeks.
Coronation Street has aired webisodes in the past, but this will be the first series to include an interactive element.
Fans of the show will be given the opportunity to help Kirk work out some pre-wedding conundrums before he marries Beth Tinker.
As Kirk has a number of issues to overcome, viewers can determine his fate by picking from one of three endings to each of the episodes.

The show will also see Kirk joined by different characters each time, with Maria, Eva, Craig, Sinead, Chesney and Beth all playing their parts.
The first episode of What Would Kirk Do? will premiere on the show's official website tomorrow (December 12). Further instalments will then be released on December 22, December 29, January 5 and January 9.

Coronation Street has unveiled the first official pictures from Beth Tinker and Kirk Sutherland's wedding.
The pair are to tie the knot with an outrageous 1980s-themed wedding airing on Friday, January 9.
Beth channels Madonna for her bridal outfit, while Kirk chooses Adam Ant as his inspiration for the big day.
Sinead Tinker, Tracy Barlow and Maria Connor will be bridesmaids, dressing as 'Venus' group Bananarama. Best man Chesney and usher Craig dress as the Blues Brothers.
The '80s theme is not just for the wedding party, with the couple's guests also attending the wedding in costumes. Sally and Tim attend as pop duo Dollar, while Sean dresses as George Michael.
However, Beth won't be happy when she discovers that Sophie and Maddie have also turned up in Madonna-inspired outfits.

Coronation Street's Lisa George has described her character Beth Tinker's wedding to Kirk Sutherland as "a dream come true" for Beth.
Beth and Kirk are due to marry in an '80s-themed ceremony in the New Year, but the couple run into trouble when Kirk experiences cold feet.
"Beth is so excited," George said. "It's a dream come true for her. She can't wait to marry Kirk and have a ring on her finger so it's official.
"Beth is a real '80s girl. A '50s theme was suggested too but that is more me - Lisa - and not Beth. I thought it was absolutely brilliant to have her go as Madonna - it's definitely very 'Beth'.
"Tracy isn't very happy - she thinks it's ridiculous and tells Beth she thinks she's making a joke out of her own wedding and isn't taking it very seriously. But actually Beth does take it seriously - this is genuinely what she wants for her big day."
George added that she enjoyed working with the actors playing Beth's family, describing the on-set chemistry as "fantastic".
"It was as though we'd all been working together for ages, it was comfortable and we all clicked really well," she explained. "I loved it. All of Beth's family are as bonkers as she is, so we had lots of fun.
"It was a full week of filming and I worked so hard on the scripts. I knew it inside out - I even knew everybody else's lines! I was on a real high filming these scenes. There was a lovely energy to it."
Coronation Street airs Beth and Kirk's wedding on Friday, January 9 on ITV.
Coronation Street's Andy Whyment has revealed that his character Kirk Sutherland considers pulling out of his wedding to Beth Tinker on the morning of the ceremony.
Kirk and Beth are due to marry in an '80s-themed ceremony next Friday, January 9 - but a spanner is thrown in the works at the last minute when Beth's family arrive for the wedding.
"[Kirk] is an absolute bag of nerves," Whyment said. "He is convinced he is going to do something wrong and he is worried about every aspect of it, from his costume to his speech. He isn't coping well with the stress of it all."
Whyment explained that Kirk's anxiety stems from his first meeting with Beth's family, who are disappointed when they realise that Beth is not marrying Jason Grimshaw.
"[Beth's family] mistake Jason for Kirk at first and they are very excited," the actor said. "When they finally realise Kirk is the groom they are less than impressed! Kirk is really hurt even though Beth tries to convince them Kirk is the best thing that has ever happened to her."
Kirk continues to feel miserable during his stag party, even telling the other stags that he doesn't think he can go ahead with the wedding.
However, when the groom goes missing on the morning of the wedding, he soon realises that his love for Beth is too strong to abandon the ceremony.

"He does want to do a runner, he doesn't feel worthy," said Whyment. "But in his heart of hearts he would never do that to Beth - I think he just needs to clear his head."
Whyment added that while Kirk and Beth may have originally appeared to be an unlikely match, they have fast become a couple who could go the distance.
"[Beth] loves [Kirk] to bits and she would be very upset if she knew he was feeling so bad about himself as a result of her family's reaction. She is the love of his life, his soul mate. People were surprised when they got together but they are a great match."
The actor also revealed that viewers can continue to expect drama from the couple after the wedding, promising that their married life will be "fun and a bit crazy".
"It will be interesting to see what the writers have planned for them after the wedding," added Whyment. "There is certainly some drama just a week or so after the big day!"

Coronation Street kicks off a brand new storyline for Beth Tinker next week as it becomes clear that she is hiding a dark secret.
Viewers will see Craig (Colson Smith) share his ambitions to join the police force in upcoming scenes, but his career decision will threaten to unveil something that his mum Beth has been keen to keep hidden.
Following through with his plans to join the police, Craig sets off to attend a Special Constable Information Day, leaving Beth (Lisa George) overwhelmed with pride for her son.
However, Beth's mood soon changes after a conversation with Tracy, in which she muses that Amy could never join the police force because of her family's criminal record.

The situation intensifies when Craig works through his police application form and asks Beth if there have been any convictions in the family.
Beth lists a couple of minor offences, but it becomes clear that she could be hiding something more serious when she later lies to him by saying she has posted the application form.
When Craig later finds the application form in Beth's handbag, he angrily demands some answers, but she covers by insisting that she's just worried about him embarking on such a dangerous career.
Suspicious, Craig starts to wonder if Beth is harbouring a dark secret, but could he be right? And if so, what is Beth hiding?

Just had a look on Wiki and Lisa George is 43. If Beth is a similar age, and Gemma is the same age as Kylie (about 27), that's definitely feasible.
It still does not explain Beth's criminal background unless Gemma was put into care because she was an unfit mother or something? But then noone ever turned up to check on Graig.

The two things might be unrelated. Or perhaps Beth's not afraid that Craig will find out she's a criminal but that she was the victim of a rape (during which Gemma was conceived)?

I have not seen an official confirmation yet but with Vanessa and Carley being sisters suddenly in Emmerdale, I can imagine this to become true as the soaps seem to run very similar storylines at pretty much the same times

Beth always brags about Tinkers being criminals so must be something more bigger could be connected to his father
Craig's sister then......
Good opportunity for the script writers to give more airtime to the Tinker clan, some good characters, bit more like corrie of old. Also help to balance the Steve, Michelle, Leanne, Marie ,Nick and Robert yawnfest.
The Tinker clan are more like the people who would live in the street, not business men like Nick and designer dressed women like Eva and Maria.
I do love Gemma though she has brilliant comic timing
Coronation Street is lining up a huge week for the Tinkers that will see the family torn apart as more secrets come to light.
Beth (Lisa George) has recently been forced to come clean about her shady past after her son Craig Colson was rejected from the police force.
Craig was rejected on the grounds that he failed to disclose a family member's criminal conviction, forcing Beth to admit that his dad Darryl has been in and out of prison for years - and she was the one who started it all by shopping him in for his first offence.
Quite understandably, Craig (Colson Smith) has been left devastated by his mum's lies - and has set up home at Sally and Tim's as a result. But things look set to get a whole lot more complex next week when Beth is forced to reveal another huge secret - and this one is even worse.
It all kicks off after a well-meaning Faye Windass writes to Craig's dad Darryl on his behalf - and he later makes contact with Craig from his prison cell.
While Craig is overjoyed by the news, Beth is devastated and forbids Beth from visiting his father - insisting he's a liar and a criminal.
After a conversation with Tim, Craig tears up Darryl's letter. But just as Beth thinks all her prayers have been answered, Craig has another change of heart and later books a prison visit (before getting very drunk and throwing up on Sally's carpet!).
Although Craig is keen to keep the meeting with his dad a secret, Kirk finds Craig catching a bus to the prison and is unable to dissuade him.
And while it seems like the prison visit couldn't be going on any better as Craig gets on famously with his dad, things take a sour turn when Darryl asks the teenager to smuggle in some drugs next time.
Aghast that Darryl's just using him, Craig refuses, before insisting that he's no rival for Beth's husband Kirk. However, Darryl retaliates by spitefully revealing some concerning home truths about Beth - that are set to blow the family apart.
Having relayed Darryl's bombshell to both Beth and Kirk, emotions run very high in the Tinker household and Kirk has spent the night on the sofa, hurt by the extent of his wife's lies.
Things grow even worse, however, when Kirk reveals the truth about Beth to a gobsmacked Maria. And there's another shock in store when Beth's past catches up with her in the worst possible way.
Fans will have to tune in to find out what exactly Beth's secret is, and what happens as a result, but by the end of the week a heartbroken Kirk will be moving out of their home for good. Will the family ever be able to come back from this?
Paul Loughran, best known for his past role as Emmerdale's Butch Dingle,has been cast as Craig's dad Darryl.
