EastEnders teenager Jay Mitchell becomes an outcast on Albert Square later this month as news spreads of his involvement in Heather Trott's murder.

With the truth about Heather's death sending shockwaves through the local community, a troubled Jay (Jamie Borthwick) finds himself scared and alone amid all the gossip.

As Jay wanders around the Square with nowhere to go, he finds himself confronted by a number of angry residents - including Heather's fiancé Andrew Cotton.

Jay soon realises that he needs somewhere to hide out, but once he finds a suitable place, his sanctuary is short-lived as Patrick (Rudolph Walker) finds him.

Like many of the other locals, Patrick struggles to hide his anger towards Jay and the pair have a showdown. It seems that Jay will be dealing with the consequences of covering up Ben's guilt for a long time to come…

Monday

Jay is struggling to cope now that the truth about Heather's murder is common knowledge. Phil is furious with Jay for his recent actions and issues a stern ultimatum - he must change his police statement or be disowned. However, Jay stands firm and refuses to agree. When a livid Phil throws Jay out and warns him not to come back, Jay is forced to wander the Square and finds himself confronted by a number of angry residents - including Andrew Cotton.

As an upset Jay looks for somewhere to hide out, he bumps into Patrick, who is also angry with him. However, Patrick begins to feel sorry for Jay when he breaks down and reveals exactly what happened on the night of Heather's death. Later, Jay heads to Billy's place, where he has been offered a place to stay. However, he is left in further turmoil when Billy changes his mind, saying that with Lola and Lexi's welfare to consider, he can't stay there after all. With nowhere to go, Jay heads to the war memorial and considers everything he has lost…

Meanwhile, Phil is worried about what Shirley and Roxy will say to the police, reminding them that the future of their family is at stake. Phil convinces Roxy to lie for him, as she doesn't want Ben to be imprisoned for years. Shirley, however, struggles during her police interview and Phil is worried about their future together.

Elsewhere, Sharon moves out of the Beale house to give Ian and Lucy some space. She moves into the B&B despite being offered a room at Jack's, but will she end up succumbing to his charms again?

Tuesday

Shirley is still in shock after the events of the last few days. Things get worse when Andrew confronts her over the situation, determined to find out whether she knew the truth all along. Seeing how much Shirley is struggling, a caring Denise offers her a place to stay, but Shirley turns it down and is determined to stay strong. Shirley then reluctantly agrees when Phil suggests a family dinner to bring everyone together.

Later, Sharon approaches Phil for help with finding a job. As they talk, Sharon senses that something is wrong and starts to question him about Ben. Phil then lets slip that he's always known Ben was guilty, and although Sharon is shocked, she is supportive of him.

Back at the Mitchell house, everyone wonders why Phil hasn't arrived for the meal yet, so Shirley heads off to investigate. Shirley is livid when she spots Sharon leaving the R&R. As another argument erupts, Shirley confronts Phil over how he left George on his own in the flat after Heather's death. Phil tries to comfort Shirley by reminding her that he loves her, but Shirley cannot take any more and ends their relationship…

Meanwhile, Kat brings Jay into The Vic when she catches him eating food out of a bin after sleeping rough. When Alfie insists that Jay shouldn't be in the pub, Patrick reluctantly agrees to give the troubled teenager a place to stay. It's clear that few people on the Square are willing to forgive Jay as he faces some harsh words from Max and Cora. Later, Lola assures Jay that they're still mates, but he's shocked to spot her flinching as he approaches Lexi.

Elsewhere, Alfie encourages Fatboy to stand up to Nico, but Fatboy's efforts lead to him getting the sack.

Thursday

When Roxy complains that the Mitchells are being treated like criminals, a short-tempered Phil orders her to move out. Phil then leaves Sharon delighted by offering her the manager's job at the R&R. Sharon hints that Phil now has a big empty house while she is stuck in the B&B, but he doesn't react to her words. Later, Phil arrives home to find Shirley there and he wonders if she has decided to forgive him. However, Shirley insists that their relationship is over, before warning that she may still report him to the police.

At the same time, Denise isn't best pleased that Patrick is allowing Jay to stay at the B&B, and she warns the teen to stay out of her way. Later, Patrick is fed up with Jay hiding away from everyone, so he takes him over to The Vic. This provokes a furious reaction from Andrew, who tries to hit Jay. However, Phil stands up for Jay and forces Andrew to back down. Could an isolated Phil be prepared to forgive Jay?

Meanwhile, Ian agrees to cover Lucy's shift at the café while she attends a party that Lauren is throwing. After a shaky start, his old business skills soon come flooding back to him, and it seems that the café could be on the way to making money again. However, Ian's good mood doesn't last for long when Phil arrives and orders him to visit Ben. Phil wants Ian to convince Ben to change his statement to avoid going to prison for years. Will Ian co-operate?

Elsewhere, a game of spin the bottle begins at Lauren's party. Lucy is miffed when Joey and Whitney have to kiss, so she gets revenge by taking a picture and sending it to Tyler. Soon afterwards, Lucy and Lauren have to kiss, along with Fatboy and Anthony!. Alice and Anthony also kiss and seem to enjoy it, but Lauren makes things awkward by drunkenly blurting out how much Alice fancies Anthony.

Also today, Janine makes a hasty return to work and ends up feeling sidelined when she hears that Sharon is now in charge at R&R.

Friday

Under increasing pressure from Phil, Ian tries to decide on a course of action - but the decision is taken out of his hands. Later, Phil says a poignant goodbye to the person he truly loves…

At the same time, Shirley and Andrew have finally managed to put their differences behind them. As they have a heart-to-heart, Andrew realises that he'll never be able to get over Heather's death if he carries on living in Walford. Andrew then decides to pack his bags and leave Albert Square for good.

Meanwhile, Sharon asks Jack who he'll be romancing tonight, but he insists that he's not a womaniser and she has the wrong idea about him. Sharon then confesses that she's not planning to stay in Walford for long, but Jack cheekily bets that she'll change her mind - suggesting that she owes him a kiss if she sticks around. The pair seem to be getting along again, but when Roxy asks Jack for his front door key, Sharon gets the wrong idea and loses interest.

Elsewhere, Tyler is going away on a job but is now paranoid about Whitney and Joey. Anthony agrees to keep an eye on Whitney in his brother's absence, but his efforts are misinterpreted when a disgusted Whitney thinks he is flirting with her. Poppy witnesses this mix-up and when she later spots Alice speaking to Anthony about an upcoming date, she storms over and drags Alice away. Now starting to genuinely like Alice, how will Anthony react?

Also today, Janine encourages Michael to take her out for the evening but is disappointed when the venue turns out to be R&R, while Alfie feels guilty for his part in Fatboy's sacking and offers him a job at The Vic.

A game of spin the bottle leads to some surprising kisses for EastEnders' younger characters in an upcoming episode.

Whitney and Joey, Lucy and Lauren, and Fatboy and Anthony are the unlikely pairings who lock lips as a lunchtime party takes place at the Branning house next week.

Lauren hosts the gathering for some fun with her friends, but the drunken spin the bottle game soon brings some jealousy and unresolved issues to the fore.

Lucy isn't best pleased when she spots Whitney and Joey's smooch, so she takes a picture on her phone and sends it to an absent Tyler - hoping to cause some trouble. Tyler is then left paranoid that Whitney could be tempted to cheat on him.

Meanwhile, Fatboy isn't impressed at having to kiss Anthony - but the girls insist that he must stick to the rules!

Things later look up when Anthony and Alice have to kiss and both seem to enjoy it, but when a tipsy Lauren blurts out just how much Alice likes Anthony, will her embarrassing comments make things too awkward for the pair?

EastEnders airs these scenes on Thursday, August 23 at 7.30pm on BBC One.

EastEnders hardman Phil Mitchell takes the drastic step of disowning Jay in tonight's (August 20) emotional episode of the soap.

Despite Ben's recent murder confession, a desperate Phil (Steve McFadden) is still determined to ensure that his son does not receive a prison sentence - so his first task is to order the entire family to toe the party line in their police interviews.

However, when Phil instructs Jay (Jamie Borthwick) to change his damning statement, the teenager refuses to agree - insisting that he did the right thing by telling the truth and it was what Ben wanted.

Realising that Jay is unlikely to change his mind, Phil angrily kicks him out onto the street - and even refuses to let him take any of his own clothing and belongings away.

When Billy later refuses to give Jay a place to stay, it's clear that he's all alone and has nobody to turn to. What will he do now?

Patrick is confident that he's doing the right thing, but when an irate Max confronts Jay (Jamie Borthwick) on the Square, Patrick realises that his kind gesture may well alienate some of the local residents…
