Over on EastEnders, Kat and Alfie Moon continue to be adversely affected by the consequences of Michael's financial scam.

Roxy Mitchell recently helped Alfie (Shane Richie) out by giving him a substantial loan, but the money worries at The Vic are far from over as the Moons have suppliers on their backs who won't deliver more stock until existing debts are settled.

As Alfie prepares for a meeting with the bank manager to discuss a possible loan, Kat (Jessie Wallace) helps out by making sure that he looks his best. However, as Michael has now confessed to conning Jean, Kat and Mo both think that Alfie should be chasing him for repayment rather than heading to the bank.

With Michael and Janine's premature baby daughter fighting for life in hospital, Alfie doesn't think that it's the right time to confront him and argues that the bank is the best option for now.

As a concerned Kat asks Alfie whether they will get through this crisis, he immediately assures her that they will. But does he really believe that?

Monday

Janine wakes up in hospital and is desperate to see her newborn daughter. She makes her way down the corridor and spots Michael, who has been sitting next to the youngster's incubator in the NICU. Michael then gently informs Janine that their child is very ill. After reaching into the incubator to touch the baby, an emotional Janine takes her anguish out on a young nurse, before openly wondering whether she and Michael are being punished for their past misdeeds.

Soon afterwards, Jean pays a visit to the hospital to confront Michael, but she has second thoughts when she sees how weak the baby is. However, Anthony, Tyler and Ricky spot Jean before she has a chance to leave, and they're furious over her behaviour. Anthony and Tyler later confront Jean at the pub, warning her to stay away from Michael and his family. Kat wants to fire back at the pair by revealing the truth about Michael's con, but Jean stops her as it's not the right time.

Back at the hospital, Michael stays with his newborn child while Janine is resting in her own room. Suddenly, alarms sound around the incubator and medical staff rush to help the baby. Unable to cope with the situation, Michael walks straight out of the hospital…

Meanwhile, Alice decides that she wants to move in with Derek, but she will only do so on the condition that he leaves Lucy alone, which Derek agrees to. Soon afterwards, Joey is furious to see Alice and Derek together and a huge argument breaks out when he tries to separate the pair. Later, Derek makes an emotional plea to Joey and is pleased when his son agrees to meet him the next day. However, Joey lets Alice know that he's going to give Derek a taste of his own medicine by not showing up!

Elsewhere, Ray and Ricky find themselves arguing over parenting on Morgan's birthday, while Jay helps Max out at the car lot - but ends up spitefully sabotaging some of the vehicles when Max implies that Abi is better off without him.

Tuesday

Janine is frantically worried as the doctors deal with her baby daughter's emergency situation. Needing support, she asks after Michael, but he is nowhere to be found. Ricky later finds Michael at home, where he has been up all night. He begs the troubled businessman to come back to the hospital, so Michael reluctantly agrees. However, when Ricky falls asleep while waiting for him, Michael sneaks out with a packed bag and begins ransacking Butcher's Joints - taking anything he might find useful.

Michael is soon interrupted by Jean, who locks the door to Butcher's Joints and throws the key into the ransacked mess. Michael frantically searches for the key so that he can make his escape, but he is stopped in his tracks when Jean urges him not to run away from his ill daughter. Pulling out Michael's St Christopher charm, Jean reads his feelings like a book and reminds him that he is capable of love. Ending the discussion, Michael gathers his things and leaves - but will he do the right thing?

Meanwhile, Jay continues work at the car lot, insisting that the sabotaged vehicles were nothing to do with him. Lola soon arrives on the scene, wanting to cause some mischief after being sacked by Lucy. Later, Max is livid to find chip fat dripping all over the cars, which they have been busy working on for Phil. Max believes that Lucy is responsible for this latest incident due to her feud with Derek, so he heads off to confront her with Phil in tow. Lucy protests her innocence, but when Phil threatens to call social services, the teenager knows she can't risk losing Bobby and agrees to pay for the damages.

Elsewhere, Alice comforts Derek after Joey fails to turn up for their planned meeting, while Ray considers moving in with Kim until she angers him yet again by revealing a little too much about her previous dalliances to Sasha.

Friday

Kat is stunned when Jean announces that Michael isn't to blame for everything, but soon changes her mind when Jean explains why.

Meanwhile, Joey considers giving Derek another chance following a plea from Alice. However, he soon changes his mind when Lucy breaks down in front of him, revealing how she has been intimidated by Derek, Max and Phil. Determined to make Derek pay, Joey puts a plan into action by pretending that he is skint. Derek jumps at the chance to help him out, but is livid to realise that it was all a scam when Joey hands the takings straight over to Lucy.

Later, Jay feels guilty over Lucy taking the fall for the goings-on at the car lot, so he decides to take the blame for everything himself. However, Max quickly realises that he is covering for Lola and considers calling the police. Jay convinces him to change his mind, though, pointing out that Lola may never meet her baby if she is sent to prison. When Lucy discovers who was to blame, she isn't so forgiving and decides to get revenge. As Lola and Billy leave a social worker meeting, they are stunned as a police officer approaches - wanting to arrest Lola on vandalism charges…

Elsewhere, Denise causes some mischief by falsely claiming that there is an anonymous spot check taking place at the Minute Mart, forcing a grumpy Zainab to be on her best behaviour all day!

Some storyline details have been held back for this episode.

Jean Slater becomes an unlikely ally for Michael Moon on EastEnders next week as she urges him not to make a terrible mistake.

Viewers have seen the pair at the centre of a twisted feud in recent weeks as Jean (Gillian Wright) has been battling to prove that Michael conned her.

However, when Michael struggles to cope with his newborn daughter's fight for life in the coming days, it's Jean who encourages him to stand by his partner Janine.

The latest story twist comes as Michael (Steve John Shepherd) considers fleeing Walford rather than sticking around to support Janine and their premature baby.

Paying a secret visit to Butcher's Joints, Michael starts ransacking the place with the aim of taking anything he might find useful once he leaves.

However, Michael is stopped in his tracks when Jean tries to prevent him from going anywhere, using her knowledge of his past to get through to him.

Pulling out Michael's St Christopher charm, Jean reminds him that he is capable of love, even though he is scared.

It's clear that Jean has given Michael food for thought, but has she done enough?

EastEnders airs these scenes on Tuesday, June 26 at 7.30pm on BBC One.
