So Sunita wants Karl to leave Stella for her
Coronation Street's Simon Barlow is rushed to hospital later this month as his latest act of rebellion ends in disaster.
The youngster's behaviour continues to spiral out of control in the coming days, leading to a confrontation between him and headteacher Brian Packham.
Simon (Alexander Bain) runs out of school following the row, resulting in panic for Peter when he learns that his son has done a disappearing act. Peter (Chris Gascoyne) initially presumes that he'll have gone to Leanne, but when she insists that she hasn't seen him, they realise Simon is missing and are forced to call the police.
Unbeknown to Peter, Simon has actually returned to the flat, but he hides in the cupboard when his worried father comes home. As Peter heads back out to continue the search, Simon then comes out of his hiding place, where he has found a bottle of wine stashed by Carla (Alison King).
Still without news, Peter later returns to the flat and is horrified to find an unconscious Simon on the sofa with the open bottle of wine.
Simon is immediately taken to hospital, where a shocked Peter and Carla are forced to explain what has happened. When a guilty Carla then suggests that she should move out for Simon's sake, will Peter be able to give her the reassurances she needs?

more ammunition for Leanne to get custody of Simon
MONDAY
Hour-long episode
As Peter struggles to cope with Simon's disruptive behaviour, it's clear that he's on the edge. Having heard about Simon's stealing, Ken pleads with Peter to let him see his grandson again, but Peter is stubborn. At the same time, an upset Simon has had a confrontation with headteacher Brian and run out of school. Peter presumes he'll have gone to Leanne, but when she insists that she hasn't seen him, they realise Simon is missing and are forced to call the police.
Later, Peter is told to go back to the flat and wait for news. Simon is there, but when he hears his father coming, he panics and hides in the cupboard where he was looking for his toys. With Simon nowhere to be seen, a desperate Peter insists on going back out to look for him. With the coast now clear, Simon comes out of the cupboard, where he has found a bottle of wine stashed by Carla.
Still without news, Peter returns to the flat, where he's horrified to find an unconscious Simon on the sofa with an open bottle of wine. As they call an ambulance, Ken and Leanne rush over, but have they found Simon in time? And when a guilty Carla suggests she should leave for Simon's sake, will Peter be able to give her the reassurances she needs, or is this the end for their relationship?
Meanwhile, Karl is horrified that Stella has taken Sunita in and that Sunita is allowing herself to be comforted by the woman she's betraying. Finding time alone, Sunita tells Karl that she and Dev are over and it's him she wants to be with. How will Karl respond?
Later, Sophie urges Dev not to give up on Sunita. At the pub, Dev begs Sunita to come home, promising that he'll change and even offering to make a new life somewhere else if that's what she wants. Will Sunita agree?
Elsewhere, Lewis and Sean have called in sick and Eva and Nick are rushed off their feet at the Bistro. They work well together and Eva is given hope of a reconciliation. But when Nick hears about Simon, all thoughts turn to supporting Leanne. Is Eva building herself up for a fall?
Also today, Marcus is Maria's knight in shining armour as he helps out with Liam
Wednesday
At the hospital, a social worker speaks to Peter and Leanne about Simon's welfare. They start by trading insults, but they're made to realise that it's Simon they should be worrying about now. Having made a good recovery, Simon can go home - but it's Leanne that Simon wants rather than Peter.
Back at the flat, the atmosphere is tense as Peter knows that he needs to build bridges with Carla. Apologising for last night, he admits that they need a chance to overcome their problems if their relationship is ever going to work. Arriving at the pub, Peter is emotional as he tells Leanne that Simon needs her and asks her to come to the flat.
As Simon runs into Leanne's arms, Peter explains that he just wants his son to be happy. Carla is then left stunned as Peter asks Simon who he wants to live with. Will Simon break Peter's heart and choose Leanne?
Meanwhile, insisting that it's a bad idea for Sunita to stay at the pub after what she told him, Karl callously shows her some flats in the Gazette. Sunita is heartbroken by his rejection, especially when Karl insists that what they had was never going to be anything more than a bit of fun.
Sunita makes it clear that her feelings were much stronger than that, and Karl is unnerved by how much of a loose cannon she is. Forced to change tack, he plays the family card, urging Sunita to think of her kids and go back to Dev. Will he be able to persuade her?
Elsewhere, as Maria meets Marcus in the pub for lunch and then again for a drink later, Audrey clocks how much she's enjoying his company. Pulling her to one side, a concerned Audrey asks Maria if she's developing feelings for Marcus. As Maria struggles to deny it, Audrey warns her to nip it in the bud before she ruins their friendship.
Also today, convinced that Nick wants to rekindle their relationship, Eva just thinks he needs a little nudge so flirts with Jason in the Bistro. But when Jason asks her out and Nick offers to give her the night off work, a confused Eva is forced to agree to a date with Jason.
Coronation Street's Chris Gascoyne has praised Alex Bain's performances as Simon during his emotional scenes on the soap.
The 44-year-old, whose character Peter Barlow is Simon's father, said that the young actor "coped really well" with such a "heartbreaking" storyline.
Simon has been at the centre of an angry custody battle between his dad and stepmother Leanne, who Peter left for Carla last year.
Gascoyne told MSN: "It's hard for him to [cry]. He has coped with it really well and we try to make it a bit of fun.
"The story is hard because it happens to so many people and it affects you and it's heartbreaking to even play it out. He has done great and it's not been an easy storyline for him, or any of us. It's a tough thing to portray."
The 9-year-old's troubles come to a head next Monday when he is found unconscious next to a bottle of wine.
It was recently announced that Gascoyne, along with Alison King who plays Carla, will take a six-month break from the Weatherfield soap. Their exits are set to coincide with the end of Simon's custody fight in July.
Coronation Street's Simon Barlow is found unconscious this evening (June 11) as his rebellious behaviour spirals out of control.
Simon (Alexander Bain) is continuing to misbehave in tonight's hour-long episode and he finally reaches breaking point following a run-in with head teacher Brian at school.
When the troubled youngster does a disappearing act from the building, Peter (Chris Gascoyne) and Carla (Alison King) are horrified to hear that Simon is missing.
After fleeing school, Simon actually returns home to the flat and hides in a cupboard there. However, his worried loved ones are unaware of this and frantically call in the police.
Later, following time out searching, Peter and Carla return home and are shocked to find an unconscious Simon on the sofa with an open bottle of wine, which Carla had stashed in the cupboard. As Simon is rushed to hospital, will Peter blame Carla or stand by her?
