Townsend retaliates against Casey, Sasha encourages Dex and Lottie to get together and Brax is surprised to find that Hayley is still in Summer Bay.

Liam struggles to help Hayley and Harvey faces pressure leading up to his court case. Meanwhile, when Colleen is feeling down, Marilyn assures her that the universe works in mysterious ways.

Monday episode 5516 - 14/05/12
Romeo’s experiencing some intense pain, alerting Sid to complications with his knee. Romeo’s whisked back into surgery and to Ruby’s horror, she learns he may lose a leg. It’s a big relief when the surgery goes well. But when Romeo finally stirs awake, Ruby’s not happy to hear him calling out for Indi.
Logan requests Indi’s company for the evening. Despite Indi’s hesitation, Roo pushes her into it. During their date, Indi’s informed by her father about Romeo’s situation and she becomes distracted. Logan asks Indi to think about going to Hong Kong with him for a business award he’s receiving. Later, Indi tries to visit Romeo at the hospital but Ruby encourages her to let him rest.
Heath wants to be involved in all the baby developments but Bianca continues to push him away. She gets her job back at the school and asks April to be her birthing partner. Heath then asks April to keep him informed about the baby, which she refuses to do. Bianca eventually gives in to Heath, saying she’ll let him be a part of the baby’s life, and allows herself to wonder if Heath would make good father material.
Tuesday episode 5517 - 15/05/12
Colleen proudly shows off her expensive jugs, which are featured in the local paper. Jett, also at the diner, clock this. Jett goes to Heath to try and score drugs, but Heath rejects him. Afterwards, Jett breaks into Colleen’s caravan. Colleen’s excitement builds about auctioning her jugs off, but is soon upset to find her caravan door forced open and her jugs broken on the floor.
Xavier and John see Jett hanging out with some shady characters on the beach and speculate he was trying to contact Heath. When Jett doesn’t show up at school, Gina confronts Heath and warns him to stay away from him.
With Romeo reeling from news that he’s not going to surf again, Ruby suggests they start a business together. Having learnt Ruby made Indi feel unwelcome at the hospital, Roo suggests to her that Romeo could use everyone’s support right now – including Indi’s. Romeo also learns that Ruby turned Indi away the night before and Ruby apologises. Indi visits Romeo and they both realise their lives are moving on with their new partners. Off the back of this, Romeo tells Ruby he realises his marriage is completely over and he wants to be with her.
Gina asks if Bianca could loan her ultrasound DVD for a class, prompting Bianca to get it back from Heath. When she does, Heath pretends he hasn’t seen it yet, but doesn’t quite fool Bianca. As they watch it together, Bianca takes in Heath’s joy.
Wednesday episode 5518 - 16/05/12
Running into a training Xavier, Dex muses that ripped guys always seem to get the girls. But it seems Lottie is already interested in him when she later wants him to confirm he likes spending time with her. With a little detective work, Lottie realises she may have competition in April. Mid-training session, Dex admits to April that he feels confused around her, but he agrees to stop avoiding her. Dex wallows, post-exercise, and learns that Lottie isn’t really fussed with muscles. Then he misses a call from April. It seems Dex just can’t win.
Colleen feels violated in the wake of the theft and the police suggest she was targeted. Xavier suggests Jett as a suspect to Senior Sergeant Emerson but when he’s questioned, Jett denies remembering where he was at the time of the robbery. Gina makes an effort to get Jett to open up to her, but he remains tight-lipped. Xavier tries to get a confession out of him but Jett tells him to leave him alone.
Casey accidentally spills pizza on Mr Townsend, who’s increasingly hostile towards him. Casey later hands in an assignment late and gets an automatic fail for his efforts. Feeling sorry for Casey, Sasha makes the situation known to Gina. Townsend is forced to re-mark Casey’s assignment, but when he makes a wise-crack about Henri being a tart, Casey punches him in the face.
Sasha, in the wake of her break-up with Xavier, realises her abusive relationship may have had a lasting impact on her. Counselling with Natalie looks like it might help to get her life back on track.
Thursday episode 5519 - 17/05/12
Gina hands down her punishment to Casey – a four-day suspension and mandatory counseling. Townsend’s irate with Gina for what he sees as a slap on the wrist, but Gina’s hesitant to go further, knowing that with his stint in juvey, Casey may go to gaol. Later, Casey is surprised when police come to question him about the assault. Casey confronts Townsend, imploring him to be reasonable, but he stands his ground. When Gina tries to get him to reconsider, he insinuates he’ll go over her head.
Sasha cottons onto Lottie’s feelings for Dex and encourages her brother to ask her out. Meanwhile, Roo has a dinner with Lottie, where she admits to missing her father. Roo tells Harvey he shouldn’t leave bonding with his daughter until it’s too late. Harvey takes the advice and helps Lottie with how she should approach Dex. Later, Lottie explains to Dex she’s done a cost-benefit analysis and thinks the potential benefits outweigh the costs in declaring her feelings. Dex reciprocates and they kiss.
Brax discovers Hayley’s still in town, who asks after Heath. Assuming she’s wanting drugs, Brax tells her to leave his family alone. Hayley then shows up on Liam’s doorstep asking for money and he immediately understands what it’s for. Brax and Liam try to sort things with Hayley but she shuts them out. Eventually she admits to her problem. Liam offers to stay with her while the drugs get out of her system.
Friday episode 5520 - 18/05/12
Liam sets up with Hayley, telling her there’ll be light at the end of the tunnel. She’s reluctant to go through this but Liam wants to make her see life is better clean. Despite her physical hostility and attacks on his shambolic life, Liam stays there for her. The next morning, Hayley apologises for her behaviour. They kiss, but Liam puts the brakes on.
Harvey’s steeling himself in the face of his court case. Mel shows up and gives Harvey an unpaid bill – and some attitude. When Harvey complains about his current lawyer, Roo offers to pay for a new one, though Harvey hesitates in accepting. Feeling held at a distance, Roo tells Harvey that he needs her and Lottie. Mel later returns with more venom, angry at Harvey for letting their finances fall into disarray.
Marilyn’s worried that Colleen’s withdrawn after the robbery and tries to make a show of generosity. Irene suggests a fundraiser and approaches Brax for his support, but he says it’s not a good time. While helping clean out Colleen’s things, Marilyn finds an unchecked lottery ticket. After promising Colleen the universe works in mysterious ways, Marilyn returns with a winning ticket. The universe has paid out $175,000 and the women celebrate.
