Coming up in Emmerdale, Zak Dingle's unstable behaviour continues as he heads to the hospital for an important appointment.
Zak (Steve Halliwell) has been behaving strangely for some time, and viewers will soon see him latching onto the possibility that his cancer has returned - desperate to find any explanation for why he isn't feeling right.
Lisa (Jane Cox) is distraught at the possibility that Zak is unwell again, and immediately arranges for him to go for tests at the hospital. However, Zak warns his wife that he doesn't want her to be present when he picks up the results.
When Zak does head back to the hospital, Doctor Maude leaves him stunned by explaining that the test results are all fine and there's nothing for him to worry about.
Struggling to accept that there's nothing physically wrong with him, Zak continues to insist that he must be sick - and Doctor Maude is forced to call security when he becomes aggressive.
Zak is later advised that counselling could help him, but he's reluctant to acknowledge that his recent problems have been mental ones.
As Zak returns home, he makes a shocking decision by telling Lisa that the cancer has definitely returned and there's no treatment for him. As Lisa is left devastated, Zak tries to comprehend the scale of his lies…

Monday
Laurel is stressed as she is on the phone to the police, trying to find out what is happening with Ashley. Sandy is annoyed that Edna got the police involved, insisting that he won't testify against Ashley. Later, Rodney is surprised when he sees that Ashley is back in the village. Ashley explains that he received a caution, but is clearly terrified by what the future holds.
After hearing that Ashley has returned, Sandy goes to find him. Ashley tells his father and Laurel about the caution and explains that he has resigned from his job. It soon dawns on him that this may be the least of this problems - as judging by Laurel's coolness, winning his family back will be harder.
Meanwhile, Debbie tells Chas that Cameron won't need any more pub shifts. Back at home, Cameron cooks Debbie a meal, but they're interrupted when Andy brings Sarah back. Cameron then feels left out when Debbie and Andy get excited over feeling the baby move. Cameron leaves them to it and heads to the pub, where he tells Chas that giving up his shifts was not his decision. Cameron then passionately declares that he can't do this any more and if Chas will only say the word, he is ready to leave Debbie for her.
Elsewhere, Brenda and Pollard go public with their relationship and Pollard assures her that she will soon win Amy round, Dan makes plans to move into the village, Sean falls and injures his ankle while being chased by Bob after stealing money from the café counter, Chas agrees to give Priya a trial shift behind the bar, while Rishi and Nikhil are surprised when Jai confirms that he is keen on having kids.
Tuesday
Chas shows Cameron through to the back room at The Woolpack, and he is desperate to hear her thoughts on leaving Debbie. Chas is terrified over the prospect, questioning how it would work in reality. Although it's clear she is tempted, Chas tells Cameron that her answer is no at the moment.
Later, Debbie teases Chas about men, insisting there is someone out there for her. Having been given food for thought, Chas visits Cameron at the garage. She has changed her mind - she wants him to finish with Debbie after all. Chas admits that she couldn't live with herself if she didn't give this relationship a chance.
Meanwhile, Ali forces Sean to apologise to Bob for stealing the money from the café yesterday. Later, Belle visits Sean and tries to convince him to admit the real reason why he needed the money so badly. Ruby knows they are hiding something, so Sean confesses to her that he's being bullied over Ali's illiteracy. Genuinely concerned for Sean, Ruby covers for him when Dan and Ali arrive back. Sean is grateful and later defends Ruby to Dan.
Elsewhere, Edna tells Ashley she cannot forgive him but Jude tries to be supportive, Amy uses Brenda's good will to take advantage of her, Lisa is increasingly worried over Zak's health, while Ali is unimpressed to hear that Bob has agreed to let Dan move in.
Wednesday
Zak warns Lisa that he doesn't want her with him for his hospital appointment. Lisa is worried as Zak seems more preoccupied by the health of his chickens than his own. Soon afterwards, Sam is annoyed when Zak hasn't turned up at Home Farm and grumbles to Lisa. However, Lisa warns him that Zak's cancer may have returned. Sam is gutted, feeling guilty about how he's treated Zak recently.
Later, Lisa is surprised when Zak returns home with lots of cash following a deal with two unfamiliar men, but he heads straight out to see his chickens. He is worried about one of them, and not wanting the hen to suffer, he kills it. Sam is shocked to find what Zak has done.
Meanwhile, Ali quizzes Ruby and is shocked to hear that Sean is getting bullied because of her. Ali wants to talk to him about it, but Ruby pleads with her not to as it's the first time that Sean has confided in her. Sean is later relieved when Ruby reveals that she has asked Ali to lay off him, omitting to say that Ali now knows about the bullying. Later, Dan is shocked by Sean's turnaround when he sticks up for Ruby, saying he likes living with her and his mum.
Elsewhere, Cameron delays breaking up with Debbie when the school call to report that Sarah is ill, Sandy explains to Laurel that he's asked Ruby if she can start helping him, while Nicola worries about Angelica being left out as Jimmy is excited about spending time with Elliot.
Thursday
Zak heads to the hospital alone, where Doctor Maude tells him the test results are all fine and there's nothing to worry about. Zak insists that he must be sick, and Dr Maude calls security when he becomes aggressive. The doctor suggests that Zak would benefit from some counselling, but he leaves in turmoil.
Later, Lisa is emotional when Zak tells her that the cancer has definitely returned. Lisa is upset while Zak tries to comprehend the scale of his lies…
Meanwhile, Sarah needs to go to the hospital as she is unwell. Cameron visits Chas and she is torn as he tells her that he needs another day or two to sort things. Cameron talks Chas round and the pair head inside to spend some time alone. At the same time, Debbie is anxious as Andy hurries her to get Sarah to the hospital, but Cameron is not back. Debbie tries to call him, but he doesn't answer. Debbie continues to try calling from the hospital, but Cameron is still with Chas and ignores his phone.
Elsewhere, Nicola is annoyed when Jimmy boasts about Elliot's first day at playschool, while Bob is surprised by Dan's optimism over having a chance with Ali.
Zak is defensive as Lisa questions him about what the consultant said. He knows that he's gone too far with the deception to back out now, so he lies that the cancer has spread to his glands. Zak is relieved to escape more questions when Paddy comes to look at the chickens. Zak heads out, leaving Lisa to tell Paddy the bad news about his cancer. Paddy offers to try talking to Zak, but they're all puzzled when he drives away again, leaving Lisa in tears.
Later, Gennie steers Zak out of the pub and home to Lisa. Back at the Dingles', Lisa, Sam and Gennie are overwhelmed when Zak tells them there is no treatment for him. He realises that he's dug himself in even deeper…
Meanwhile, Andy and Debbie wait for Sarah, who is in theatre. At the same time, Chas is called out to serve in the pub, so Cameron lets himself out the back and checks his phone. Chas feels guilty when she realises that Cameron should have been at the hospital. Back at Tug Ghyll, Cameron explains himself by telling Debbie that he had wanted to give her and Andy some time alone. Andy is unconvinced, but Debbie is persuaded and lets Cameron comfort her.
Elsewhere, Carl reminds Jimmy that it's not all about Elliot and he has to think about his daughter too, while Katie is exasperated by Megan's attitude towards the Robbie situation.
Friday
The guilt begins to get too much for Chas as Debbie asks her to take some clothes to the hospital for Sarah. As Debbie goes to speak to the doctor, Chas battles her emotions as Sarah reveals that Cameron has promised to take her to Disney World when she is better. At the same time, Cain asks Cameron why he wasn't with Debbie and Sarah yesterday. Cameron covers by saying that he was on a job, but Cain warns that he is onto him.
Later, Chas is awkward around Cameron, but is distracted when Cain tells her the news about Zak being ill. Chas is shocked to hear that Zak only has a few weeks to live. When Chas gets back to the pub, she lashes out at Cameron, but he convinces her that he needs her. In the end, Chas agrees to carry on their affair but insists that Debbie must not find out.
Meanwhile, Lisa is at the end of her tether and tells Zak that he needs to get a second opinion. Zak is agitated further when Lisa says they will have to tell Belle. Later, Lisa, Sam and Gennie are shocked when Zak says that he might only have a few weeks left to live. Cain is shocked as Gennie tells him the news about Zak.
Elsewhere, Declan gets a call from the private investigator and Katie wonders what is going on, while Alicia is jealous when she thinks Holly is flirting with David.
Emmerdale star Steve Halliwell has revealed that there are dramatic moorland scenes on the way for Zak Dingle as his mental state deteriorates.
The actor's troubled character has been on a downward spiral for some time in the aftermath of his brutal attack on son Cain (Jeff Hordley).
Things get worse for a confused Zak next month as he wanders out onto the moors and starts having hallucinations.
Halliwell told Inside Soap: "Zak drives out into the wild countryside, but he gets confused. He fantasises about loved ones who are long dead and starts talking to them.
"Zak gets progressively worse and thinks Cain is looking for him, trying to kill him. It gets very tense up high on the rocks. While we were filming, I had to wear a safety harness because it was so windy - we nearly got blown away!"
Zak's ordeal comes a few days after he has falsely told his family that he has terminal cancer, desperate to cover up the fact that his recent problems have been mental ones.
Discussing Zak's terrible decision, Halliwell commented: "He knows that something is wrong with him, but he's not accepting that it might be in his mind. Zak isn't the kind of man who could admit to being mentally ill, so keeps it to himself."
Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV1.

When is Holly leaving?
Next month apparently.. I can't wait
Steve Halliwell has revealed that his Emmerdale character Zak Dingle will come close to committing suicide.
The 58-year-old actor, who has played Zak since 1994, revealed that the Dingle patriarch ends up digging his own grave as he wanders onto the moors in an upcoming episode.
"Viewers see him cowering in a ditch alone on the moors after causing a scene at Belle's school. He has no idea where he is," he teased to Soaplife.
"He starts fantasising and talking to people who have died. He's frightened of everything. He gets progressively worse and is convinced that Cain (Jeff Hordley) is on the moors looking for him because he wants to kill him."
Halliwell also explained why Zak lies to loyal wife Lisa (Jane Cox) about his cancer, adding: "He says the cancer's gone too far for any treatment. It's just to shut everyone up, but once he's said it he can't retract it.
"He's just saying anything that comes into his head. And he's heaping more stress on himself with all the lies."
Chas agrees to carry on their affair but insists that Debbie must not find out.
Yes that will happen
