EastEnders' weekly omnibus has moved permanently to Friday nights, it has been confirmed.

The BBC has announced that the soap's two-hour catchup marathon will no longer air in its traditional Sunday afternoon slot.

In a statement on the EastEnders website, the corporation said: "The EastEnders omnibus has moved to a new late-night slot on Friday night/Saturday morning.

"It will no longer be on BBC One on Sunday. The next omnibus will be on Saturday [April] 14 at 0.05am-2am."

The EastEnders Omnibus was broadcast in the Friday night slot last week from 11.30pm, gaining 477k (7.2%) viewers in the overnights.

The Omnibus's last showing on a Sunday, on April 1, attracted 792k (9.1%) between 1pm and 3pm.

They are having a laugh, surely

You, me and Perdita !! Thats hardly a fair few more like very few LOL

In this day and age Im surprised anyone actually watches the omnibus editions of any soap. Most people record what they cannot watch or download it to the BBC iplayer etc

I didnt say everybody. I said most people. Bearing in mind the demographics of the majority of most EE viewers I would would say they ahead of other soaps would have an overwhelming majority of followes who use the internet and have the capability to record programmes

Now you will have to record it or watch it on the I player to Veg out on a Sunday afternoon.

EE is an excellent programme to VEG out to :)

This is the beeb's way of phasing it out. By the end of the year there will be no omnibus slot for EE as they can catch up with it using Iplayer or catch-up tv.
