Is it true that Ben Mitchell commits suicide after he murders Heather?
EastEnders hardman Phil Mitchell is to take centre stage in a special BBC Red Button episode, show bosses have announced.
Phil has been locked up in jail over the past few weeks, and the upcoming special will provide an exclusive insight into what life has been like for him behind bars.
The Red Button audience will follow Phil as he is given the task of showing a young new prisoner named Devon (Tobi Bakare) the ropes.
However, trouble lies ahead for the pair when Devon starts to clash with the prison's dangerous top dog Craig Jenkins (Glenn Doherty), leaving Phil with a decision to make about whether to protect him.
An EastEnders statement teased: "How far is Phil prepared to go to save someone else? The red button is sure to reveal all."
Phil was sent to prison earlier this year after his own son Ben (Joshua Pascoe) falsely told the police that he was responsible for the death of Stella Crawford.
EastEnders fans can see Phil's BBC Red Button programme on Monday, March 12 from 8.30pm, straight after the regular episode of the soap.
Over on EastEnders, Shirley Carter is thrilled when her partner Phil Mitchell finally agrees to let her see him in prison - but the visit doesn't go well.
Shirley (Linda Henry) is excited to see Phil, but her happiness is short-lived when he reveals some shocking news about his legal case.
Phil (Steve McFadden) explains that his solicitor has managed to reduce his charge to manslaughter and he plans to plead guilty, as he'll have his sentence reduced by half this way.
Shirley begs him to reconsider, but when she starts to question Phil over his welfare behind bars, the hardman loses patience and storms out. Can Shirley convince Ben to get his father out of this mess?

Monday
Shirley is delighted as Phil finally agrees to let her see him in prison. As the pair come face-to-face again, Phil explains that his solicitor has managed to reduce his charge to manslaughter and he plans to plead guilty, as he'll have his sentence reduced by half this way. Shirley disagrees with his decision and is also startled when she spots a weal mark on Phil's arm. However, when Shirley questions Phil about it, he announces that the visit is over.
Later, a desperate Shirley turns up at the Beale house to see Ben. Ian makes it clear that she isn't welcome, but Shirley smashes her way into the house and violently implores Ian to use any decency he has left in him to get through to Ben. However, Shirley is forced to leave when Ben threatens to call DCI Marsden. Soon afterwards, Ben and Ian have a heart-to-heart as they share their delight over the thought of Albert Square being a Phil Mitchell-free zone for a long time to come. However, Ben then lets his true colours slip by telling a shocked Ian that his police statement was a pack of lies…
Meanwhile, it's the day of Tanya's MRI scan. As they attend the hospital together, Tanya asks Max whether he could cope if the news turned out to be bad, but he evades the question. As the radiographer calls Tanya in, Max is left guilt-ridden as he receives an incoming call from Roxy. He texts her back and cancels plans for a rendezvous, so Roxy heads out for a picnic with Alfie and the kids instead.
Elsewhere, Lauren remains isolated from her family, Ian is feeling unsure about Mandy following Lorraine's visit, while Rose becomes suspicious when she hears Dot making a telephone bank transfer.
Tuesday
It's the day of Tanya's MRI scan results. Max wants Lauren to be at the hospital later, but she responds with an angry outburst - claiming that she'd only be getting in the way of her parents' relationship as it's only ever about them. Back at the Branning house, Tanya creates some memory boxes containing mementoes of the kids' childhoods. She then heads out to the hospital, but it's clear that she's struggling with the enormity of the day.
Max and Cora are also cracking under the pressure and taking their worry out on each other, but they soon realise that they need to put on a united front. Soon afterwards, this is solidified when an apologetic Lauren turns up to join her family at the hospital. Suddenly, the consultant's door opens - the moment of truth has arrived for Tanya.
Meanwhile, Ian is appalled with Ben after finding out about his lies. Ian reminds Ben that this situation has long-term implications and he could end up back in prison over this. However, an unstable Ben remains convinced that he's doing the right thing. Unsure of what to do next, Ian takes Ben to the prison to see Phil. However, Ben is overwhelmed with emotion when he comes face-to-face with a visibly beaten Phil and flees from the room.
Elsewhere, Heather tries to make the best of her second-hand wedding dress but is later left thrilled when Dot pays for her dream dress, while Roxy is horrified to discover that she has caught nits from Amy.
Thursday
Tanya and Max prepare for the worst as they walk into the consultant's office, with Lauren and Cora waiting outside. When the couple eventually emerge again, they have tears in their eyes but Max quickly announces excellent news for the family - the results were all-clear. Back at home, Derek calls for a celebration and everyone later arrives to congratulate Tanya. Soon afterwards, Tanya has a heart-to-heart with Lauren, admitting that she still feels frightened that her cancer could return. However, Lauren tries to make her mum see that she can't waste time fearing the worst.
Later, Derek feels left out of the celebration and tries to make himself the centre of attention by delivering a speech, unable to resist reminding everyone that he's head of the family. Suddenly, however, everybody's eyes are on Tanya as she enters the room wielding an axe and plunges it through the sofa! Tanya cheerfully explains her actions, telling everyone how the sofa was a prison for her while she was unwell, but it won't be anymore.
Meanwhile, still at the prison, Ian offers to help Phil - but is left frustrated when the hardman disowns Ben as his son. Ian criticises Phil for never letting Ben be himself, but a furious Phil isn't in the mood for this and grabs Ian by the collar. Ian immediately decides that he doesn't want to help Phil after all, but once he returns home, it's clear that he's still uncomfortable at being complicit in Ben's deception.
Elsewhere, Shirley continues to fear that she is losing Heather to Andrew, Kim is the latest Walford resident to get nits, Andrew finally comes clean with Heather and reveals that he was released from prison 18 months ago following a sentence for GBH, while Ray shares a kiss with Kim - wearing a motorcycle helmet for protection from the nits.
Friday
Heather's hen night gets under way at Dot's house, but she's still feeling uneasy after hearing Andrew's secret - meaning that the Square's female residents are unable to get into the spirit of the occasion. When Heather tells Shirley that she's not sure whether she can go ahead with the wedding, Shirley advises her to scrap the ceremony - claiming that it's not worth it as Andrew will probably end up back in jail again at some point.
Later, Heather and the other women head to the VIP section of the R&R to continue the hen night there. At the same time, Patrick discovers that Andrew hasn't got a stag night planned, so arranges a proper send-off for him at The Vic.
As the celebrations continue at the R&R, Rose makes a scene by drunkenly laying into Heather, accusing her of stealing away her little boy. Soon afterwards, Dot hijacks Fatboy's microphone to make a toast to the happy couple. However, this only leaves Heather with more guilt as she continues to wonder whether she should go ahead with the wedding. What will Heather decide?
Elsewhere, Ian is still in turmoil over Ben, but he's given food for thought when Patrick recalls his experience with his son Paul. Patrick explains that he would have shopped Paul to the police if he'd been given the chance, preferring to have his son hate him than throw his life away. Patrick's words help Ian to make a life-changing decision.
EastEnders' Ian Beale has a huge decision to make next week as he finally sees the true colours of his twisted half-brother Ben Mitchell.
Ian (Adam Woodyatt) and Ben (Joshua Pascoe) continue to put on a united front against the Mitchells in the coming days, expressing their delight as they chat about Albert Square being a Phil-free zone for a long time to come.
However, Ian is left stunned when a smug Ben finally tells him that his statement about Phil (Steve McFadden) causing Stella's death was a pack of lies.
Ian is disgusted by what Ben has done and points out the seriousness of the situation, reminding the teen that he could end up in serious trouble for perverting the course of justice.
However, Ben is defiant as he continues to maintain that he's doing the right thing as Phil deserves it.
