View Full Version : Orange British Academy Film Awards 2012
Meryl Streep is expected to land a Bafta nomination later for her portrayal of Margaret Thatcher - just a day after her Golden Globe success.
The US star was named Best Actress in a Drama for her role as the former British Prime Minister in The Iron Lady , and is tipped for an Oscar nod.
The shortlist for this year's Orange British Academy Film Awards is being announced at Bafta in Piccadilly by Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe along with actress Holliday Grainger and Bafta Chairman Tim Corrie.
Movies tipped for success in the best film category include silent film The Artist, Cold War thriller Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, Steven Spielberg's War Horse, and We Need To Talk About Kevin.
The best actor shortlist will be whittled down from a longlist that includes George Clooney for The Descendants; Daniel Craig for The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo; Eddie Redmayne for My Week With Marilyn; Jean Dujardin for The Artist; Gary Oldman for Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, and Michael Fassbender for Shame.
The best actress longlist includes Tilda Swinton for We Need To Talk About Kevin; Michelle Williams for her portrayal of Marilyn Monroe in My Week With Marilyn; Kate Winslet for Carnage, and Viola Davis for The Help.
Hosted by Stephen Fry, the awards take place on Sunday February 12 at the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden.
