mmerdale's Declan Macey is in for a terrible shock next month as he discovers that his 'daughter' Mia has died, reports have revealed.

Declan, played by Jason Merrells, receives the bombshell news in a fortnight's time as he is told that Mia has been killed in a car accident.

The ruthless businessman is then immediately faced with a dilemma over whether to tell Jai Sharma - Mia's biological father - what has happened.

Jai (Chris Bisson) does eventually find out about his daughter's passing, but it is currently unclear whether it is Declan who breaks the news.

Emmerdale viewers saw Mia's final scenes at the end of August as Declan sent her away from the village after discovering that she was not his biological daughter.

Upcoming episodes see Declan's girlfriend Katie Sugden (Sammy Winward) left concerned by his refusal to have any contact with Mia. However, it is thought that her death comes just as Declan has finally agreed to let Mia pay a visit.

Mia was portrayed by actress Sapphire Elia, whose departure from Emmerdale was announced in May.

Coming up in Emmerdale, the village begins to gossip as Debbie and Andy announce that they're back together.

As fans already know, next week's episodes see Debbie (Charley Webb) and Andy (Kelvin Fletcher) decide to have a saviour sibling to help their daughter Sarah, who needs a bone marrow transplant as she is seriously ill.

As part of the plan, Debbie and Andy have to pretend that they're a couple in order to have the IVF treatment required for the 'designer baby'. Soon afterwards, they realise that they'll also have to lie to the villagers to avoid being found out.

Going ahead with the plan, Debbie arrives at the pub with Andy and announces to Pearl and Edna that they're an item and will be trying for another baby for Sarah's sake.

As Debbie makes the announcement, Andy's clearly more uncomfortable about the situation than her. Will Andy, Debbie, Alicia and Cameron be able to keep up this pretence?

Monday

Lisa tells a nosy Pearl that Andy has moved in with Debbie because of Sarah and they don't need people gossiping. Soon afterwards, Pearl approaches Alicia and Cameron looking for gossip. Alicia plants a kiss on his cheek to get a reaction and Edna can't deny that there must be something going on.

Later, Debbie thinks they'll have to persuade people to go along with their story, as it's the only way they can save Sarah. In the pub, Pearl and Edna continue to wonder about the Debbie situation when she arrives with Andy. She tells them that she and Andy are back together and are trying for another baby to save Sarah. Andy's clearly more uncomfortable than Debbie…

Meanwhile, Declan tells Katie that Mia's coming to stay tomorrow and it was Katie who reminded him of his priorities. Later, Declan visits the factory and warns Jai to stay away from Mia. Jai wants to repair their friendship, but Declan's not interested.

Elsewhere, Nikhil apologises to Gennie for his behaviour and promises not to interfere in her life again; Diane reassures Moira that her lips are sealed about her 'mistake' and she'd be a fool to lose John; while Paddy admits to Marlon that they're both under the thumb and need a lads' night out.

Tuesday

Declan tells Katie that he wants a couple of hours alone to chat with Mia, but will text her to join them after. As the day continues, Jai visits Declan as he wants to see Mia, but Declan can't risk it. Later, Declan leaves a voicemail for Mia as a car pulls onto the drive. He's nervous about seeing her, but is in shock when two police officers enter and tell him that Mia's been killed in a car crash.

Katie becomes increasingly irritated when Declan doesn't call. Declan eventually does, but he's unable to speak when she answers. Katie tries to call him back, annoyed as she thinks that he must have had a row with Mia. However, Declan is overcome with grief and drops his phone on the floor.

Meanwhile, Diane clocks the body language between Moira and Cain and starts to put two and two together. Moira threatens Cain not to come anywhere near the farm while John is away on a trip, and denies she's jealous when Cain buys Priya a drink.

Elsewhere, Andy is annoyed with Debbie for announcing that they're a couple, while Rachel suggests that Ali should quit her job to look after the kids.

Wednesday

At Home Farm, Declan heads out to identify Mia's body. Katie's thrown when he's rude to her and has had enough of being treated like this. She offloads to Chas in the pub and wonders if she should end things with Declan. Determined to have it out with him, she questions Declan but he wants Katie to leave him alone.

Katie persists and is shocked when Declan explains that Mia is dead. She's further taken aback when he blames her for making him invite Mia in the first place. Katie leaves, seeing that he needs to be alone. Later she visits again, but Declan pushes her away once more.

Meanwhile, Moira's startled when she sees Cain in the doorway at home. She tells him to go, but gives in when he moves closer and goes to kiss her. As they kiss on the bed, Moira panics on hearing a car pull up outside - it's John. Moira covers by saying that Cain's there for his money. Cain explains that he wants the debt cleared in full. John's angry but says he'll have it by tomorrow.

Elsewhere, Sean is delighted when his dad Dan arrives in his camper van; Laurel tries to persuade Ashley to celebrate his 50th birthday, but Marlon can't understand why she wants to play happy families; while Hazel's awkward when Adam and Marlon tease Aaron about being out on the pull and Aaron's touchy when Adam wonders why he's so defensive.

Thursday

Diane picks up on Moira's attitude towards Cain in the café and realises that he's the one she's having an affair with. Diane orders Moira to pull herself together and tell Cain that it's over. At the garage, Cain plays on Moira's emotions as she tries to call it off. He tells Moira that she lost the right to say what will and won't happen when she betrayed John.

Adam has seen Cain and Moira together, so he tells John that he spotted Cain giving Moira a hard time. When John confronts the bad boy, Cain winds him up about Moira. He then playfully makes it clear to John that he has slept with Moira. Furious, John is unsure what to believe…

Meanwhile, Jai visits Declan saying that he won't tell Mia about him being her dad, but that it would be wrong not to see her. Declan doesn't tell him the tragic news. Later, Jai enters the pub after being on the phone to Ella, devastated after hearing about Mia and gutted that Declan wasn't going to say anything. Adam tries to take in the news as Jai heads to Declan's.

Elsewhere, Dan decides to stick around a bit longer in the hope that he could win Ali back, while Ashley's unsure about the party that Laurel's organising.

Diane sees John on the warpath and calls Moira to warn her. Moira feels her world crumbling when she speaks to Diane and realises that John might know the truth. There's a strained atmosphere when he arrives home and her hands shake as she serves dinner. Eventually, John coldly confronts her and Moira falls apart, admitting what she has done and that she is crippled with shame.

John is appalled as Moira tries to tell him she has no feelings for Cain. John declares his hatred of his wife and she sobs as he screams at her to pack her bags. They're both broken as Holly and Adam arrive back and explain about Mia's death. Holly quickly realises something terrible is going on between them.

Meanwhile, Jai marches in to see Declan, but he tells him to stay away and not come to Mia's funeral. Declan's heartbroken, having lost his daughter and his friend. Later, Katie's shocked when Declan reveals that Jai was Mia's father. However, Katie comforts him, saying that if Mia didn't know then Declan was her dad.

Elsewhere, Sandy's caught when Ashley asks if he thinks Marlon's taken a shine to Laurel. Sandy admits that he's had words with her. Ashley tries to brush off his doubts, but they both know he's suspicious and in denial.

Friday

It's Ashley's birthday and he suggests that he and Laurel should spend time together, but she claims that she has some errands to run. Later, a suspicious Ashley snoops around Tall Trees as Laurel's inside with Marlon. He calls her and is relieved when she tells the truth about where she is, saying they've been icing his cake. He's guilty for doubting her.

As the day continues, Marlon feels conflicted as she watches Laurel give Ashley his birthday present - a photo album full of pictures. Later, Ashley's worst fears are confirmed when he finds out that she lied about icing the cake, and he watches her follow Marlon out the back…

Meanwhile, Holly notices the strained atmosphere between her parents, but Moira tells her they're just shocked about Mia. Later, Moira finds John packing to go to Andy's. She tries to call his bluff, saying that she'll stay at her mum's, but she's left heartbroken when he agrees it's a good idea - either she moves out or he does.

Elsewhere, Ali and Ruby are stressed as Dan hangs around like a bad smell; Amy persuades David to give her a day's work in the shop; and Declan agrees to let Katie come to Mia's funeral with him.

Emmerdale star James Thornton has predicted tough times ahead for the Barton family.

The actor, who plays John Barton in the ITV1 soap, said his character will struggle to forgive wife Moira (Natalie J Robb) for cheating on him with Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley).

Cain winds John up by dropping hints about the affair, leading John to confront Moira and discover what really happened.

"John is very black and white. He thinks it's over," Thornton told Inside Soap. "He's made the decision that what she's done is so bad that she has to go.

"John's heartbroken and in shock. Of all the people to cheat with, it's Cain. Everyone hates him - he's the worst person out of everyone to have something like that over them.

"It's going to be a rocky road for them all. The children all react differently. Holly is firmly on John's side, Adam's supportive of Moira and Hannah is on the middle ground."

Robb recently teased that the Barton family would be rocked by the aftermath of her character's infidelity.

Emmerdale's Cain Dingle decides to cause some trouble later this week as he lets John know that he has slept with Moira.

When Moira tries to end her fling with the bad boy, Adam witnesses the pair clashing and soon reports back to John (James Thornton) about what he saw.

Determined to put an end to his family's association with Cain, John pays off their debt to him in full. However, he also wants to know why Moira (Natalie J Robb) paid Cain a visit earlier.

Enjoying the game, Cain (Jeff Hordley) playfully reveals the affair to John - mentioning a freckle on Moira's thigh as proof of what he's saying. How will John react?

Emmerdale airs these scenes on Thursday night at 7pm on ITV1.

Emmerdale's Katie Sugden receives a shock in tonight's episode as her partner Declan shares the terrible news that Mia is dead.

As a new day dawns in the village, Katie (Sammy Winward) wakes up fuming with Declan after he failed to get in touch with her last night. She goes to Home Farm to confront him, but he's heading out to identify Mia's body and is rude to her.

Not realising what is wrong, Katie is sick of being treated badly by Declan (Jason Merrells) and later pays a second visit to Home Farm to demand an explanation.

Declan finally tells Katie about Mia's fatal car accident, before angrily lashing out - claiming that it's all her fault for encouraging him to invite Mia in the first place. Will Katie be able to comfort Declan, or will he keep pushing her away?

Emmerdale airs explosive scenes for the Barton family in tonight's double bill as John discovers that Moira has been sleeping with Cain.

When Moira takes some advice from Diane and tries to end things with Cain (Jeff Hordley), the village bad boy is out to cause trouble and wastes little time before revealing the truth to John.

Diane soon sees John on the warpath and phones Moira (Natalie J Robb) to warn her that he might know about the affair. John still isn't entirely sure what to believe, but when he returns home and senses Moira's uneasy attitude, he demands the truth and his wife crumbles before confessing all.

John (James Thornton) is disgusted by what Moira has done and angrily expresses his hatred of her, making it clear that they can't live under the same roof any more. Is it the end for the Bartons' marriage?
