Why is it always that the person has to see their child in secret when their current partner is banned?? Surely Syed can let Christian know he is going to see his daughter and it is Amira that doesn't want Christian around??? Syed is gay, surely Christian can feel secure enough in his relationship to let him see his daughter and be near his ex??

How?we have seen it too many times before.. Jack going to see his many children, Michael going to see Tommy, Ryan going to see Lily... all done before.. for once I would like to see someone been honest and saying.. "look, <insert scorned lover/one night stand here> doesn't want you around our child but as a father I would like to be there"

Totally agree with you, but reasonable behaviour from the soap characters does not appear to be allowed by the scriptwriters in order to provide us with the many explosive storylines that rock the bla bla bla

EastEnders' Syed Masood faces a life-changing moment later this month as he meets his baby daughter Yasmin for the first time.

After Amira (Preeya Kalidas) has returned to Albert Square and revealed the news about their child, Syed is put in an awkward position as his estranged wife insists that Christian must have no access to Yasmin.

When Amira pays a visit to Masood and introduces him to his granddaughter, Syed (Marc Elliott) is hopeful that she will back down and heads over to see the baby with Christian in tow.

However, a defiant Amira stands firm, insisting that while it's important for Yasmin to spend time with her father, she doesn't want Christian (John Partridge) to be involved whatsoever.

Syed is desperate to see Yasmin but maintains his solidarity with Christian and they both leave together. Later, though, Syed heads out of the flat alone and spots Amira getting into a cab to leave.

Approaching Amira and asking to hold his daughter, Syed is thrilled to get an introduction to Yasmin. It's clear that his fatherly instincts are already kicking in, but will he be forced to choose between Yasmin and his happy life with Christian?

These scenes air on Monday, October 17 at 8pm on BBC One.

Syed meets his daughter for the first time
Airs Monday, Oct 17 2011 at 20:00 BST on BBC One

Amira pays a visit to the Masood household with baby Yasmin, where she gets a warm welcome from Masood and Tamwar but exchanges bitchy comments with Afia. When he gets a chance to talk to Amira alone, Masood tries to get her to see sense over the situation with Syed, pointing out that Christian is now part of his life. However, Amira doesn't seem convinced. Syed is aware of Amira's visit after watching from his flat, so he decides to take a chance by heading over to the house with Christian in tow.

To Syed's disappointment, Amira stands firm by explaining that while she thinks it's important for Yasmin to spend time with her father, she doesn't want Christian to be involved whatsoever. She also makes a subtle threat by revealing that she's planning a trip abroad to see her grandparents and may not return unless Syed does as she wishes. Syed stays loyal to Christian and they both leave together, but Syed later heads out of the flat alone. Seeing that Amira is about to leave in a cab, he goes over and asks to hold his daughter and is thrilled to finally get an introduction to Yasmin. Will Syed be forced to choose between Yasmin and his happy life with Christian?

Meanwhile, Kat is plagued with guilt following her actions last night, but her problems are only just beginning as Mark soon pays a visit to The Vic. Mark asks Kat whether she'd like to make last night a regular occurrence, but she insists that she's not interested as she's married. Kat panics that Mark might say something to Alfie, so she makes it clear that this drink at The Vic will be his last. Has Kat seen the last of Mark?

Elsewhere, Norman leaves Jean heartbroken by declaring that he's much too old for her and they'd be better off as friends; Tyler tells a jealous Fatboy that he'll end things with Whitney if he's not okay with them being together, but Fatboy assures Tyler that he can cope; while Ian is jealous when he spots Mandy flirting with Jack, but he later manages to impress the blonde by turning up on the Square driving a flash sports car.

Syed breaks his promise to Christian
Airs Tuesday, Oct 18 2011 at 19:30 BST on BBC One

Despite assuring Christian that he wants both of them to have access to Yasmin or neither of them, Syed is planning to see his daughter today. He tells Christian that he's paying a visit to his solicitor, but really goes for a secret meeting with Amira at the park. When Syed confesses that he's had to lie about his whereabouts, Amira insists once again that she doesn't want Christian to see Yasmin. Although they're at odds over Christian, Syed goes on to tell Amira that he's keen to start contributing financially to Yasmin's life.

As their time together draws to a close, Amira asks a passer-by to take a photo of the three of them on Syed's phone. Syed confirms that he wants to meet up with them again, but says that he'll be honest with Christian from now on. Syed goes home with the intention of telling his partner the truth about his day, but when he arrives, he's unable to say anything because Roxy is visiting Christian.

Meanwhile, Ian tries to convince people that his new car is for his own needs and not just to impress Mandy. Later, Ian returns home and is unhappy that Jack has been in the house, helping Mandy after she accidentally set the fire alarm off. Mandy is pleased as she's been hoping to make Ian jealous all along. However, Ian soon crosses the line by telling Mandy to "get upstairs", implying that she's there for sex. Furious, Mandy's behaviour completely spirals out of control as she smashes up Ian's car with a golf club. When a livid Ian confesses that the car is rented and not purchased, Mandy goes a step further by throwing a can of paint over the bonnet.

Elsewhere, Jack is concerned when Roxy admits that she finds it boring looking after Amy sometimes; Kat is shocked to receive a phone call from Mark and orders him to leave her alone; Whitney runs out on Tyler as they prepare to sleep with each other for the first time; and Alfie surprises Kat with the news that he's booked a holiday for the four of them.

Ian asks Mandy to marry him
Airs Thursday, Oct 20 2011 at 19:30 BST on BBC One

Mandy is staying with Pat following her row with Ian and they both talk about recent events. Pat tries to make Mandy see that Ian has a sensitive side, and Mandy soon starts to feel guilty about ruining his rented car. She explains to Pat that she always gets suspicious when men give her attention and affection. At the same time, Ian confides in Alfie over the situation, confessing that he only got the car to impress Mandy and is now through with women for good. However, Alfie tries to give Ian a confidence boost by explaining that he and Kat aren't as happy as they seem, and sometimes 'the perfect one' only exists in your imagination.

Later, Mandy turns up at the Beale house with a bunch of flowers as a peace offering. She explains that she is only back to pick up her things, but also tries to cheer Ian up by telling him about all the nice things Pat said about him earlier. Events take a twist as the pair both admit that they just want to be loved and agree to make a go of things as a couple. Ian then leaves Mandy stunned by asking her to marry him - will she accept?

Meanwhile, Whitney confides in Lauren that her date with Tyler yesterday was a disaster. Lauren suggests that she should start going out with Fatboy instead, but Whitney is dismissive of the idea. Later, Pat convinces Whitney that there's still hope for her and Tyler and suggests that she should go to speak with him. However, when she does, Whitney overhears Tyler telling Fatboy that she needs a "shrink". Whitney stands up for herself against Tyler before storming off and when Fatboy chases after her, she kisses him.

Elsewhere, Pat speaks to Simon on the phone and it's clear that he's given her bad news, while Lauren continues to look out for Tanya as she goes for another radiotherapy session.

Greg returns to Albert Square
Airs Friday, Oct 21 2011 at 20:00 BST on BBC One

Lauren is starting to feel the pressure of keeping Tanya's secret and she worries when her mother heads out to work, despite the fact that she's just been sick. Worried, Lauren makes a desperate call to someone, asking them to come back and help. Later, Tanya is left stunned when Greg walks into the salon and it's clear that he's the person who Lauren contacted. When they head back to Max's house to talk, Tanya initially keeps quiet about why she's finding life difficult at the moment, but she eventually tells Greg the truth about her illness. However, Greg is unable to cope with the enormity of the situation and leaves.

Lauren spots Greg as he's making his departure and desperately tries to get him to stay, but he makes it clear that he can't deal with the situation and leaves as planned. Lauren then tries to convince Tanya that they don't need Greg and can cope with this alone. Later, Lauren helps Tanya to brush her hair but is alarmed when the brush is filled with much more hair than usual. Needing an escape, Lauren heads out to Poppy's 21st birthday party at Anthony and Tyler's place. Feeling jealous over Whitney and Fatboy as they've gone public with their relationship at the bash, Tyler makes a move on Lauren and although she initially rejects him, it's not long before they're heading upstairs together…

Meanwhile, Norman is still trying to woo Pat but she gets angry with him and there's an alarming moment when she grabs her chest in pain. She soon takes some pills for her heart and admits that it's a stressful time for her as she's just heard that Simon is going to lose his house in New Zealand. Norman offers to help Pat with the financial problem.

Elsewhere, Ben feigns an injury while out running because he wants some attention from Christian. Syed later teases Christian that Ben must have a crush on him.

EastEnders' Greg Jessop makes a brief return to Albert Square next week after Lauren begs him to come back and see Tanya.

Struggling under the pressure of keeping Tanya's cancer secret and fearing that her mother isn't coping, Lauren (Jacqueline Jossa) makes a desperate phone call to Greg - claiming that Tanya is "lonely" and would love to see him.

Later, at the salon, Tanya is stunned to see Greg (Stefan Booth) and they soon head back to Max's place for a chat.

Tanya (Jo Joyner) initially makes an excuse for Lauren's concern and her own tired appearance, but Greg can sense that something else is wrong so she finally tells him the truth.

As Tanya opens up over her recent ordeal, it's clear that she's finding it a great help to confide in someone who knows her well. However, Lauren's plan starts to backfire as Greg seems unable to cope with the news - making Tanya feel worse.

When Greg starts making excuses to leave, it seems that Lauren may be forced to continue carrying the burden of Tanya's illness on her own. Will Greg really walk away for good, and if so, how will Tanya and Lauren react?

EastEnders airs these scenes on Friday, October 21 at 8pm on BBC One.

EastEnders star Jo Joyner has admitted that she was surprised when she heard that Greg Jessop would turn his back on her character Tanya in an upcoming storyline twist.

Greg returns to Albert Square at the end of next week after Lauren (Jacqueline Jossa) makes contact with him, which prompts Tanya to confide in her estranged husband over her cancer.

However, although Greg (Stefan Booth) sympathises with Tanya, he seems unable to cope with the news and soon makes a hasty exit - leaving Lauren to carry on facing the burden of her mother's illness alone.

Joyner told Inside Soap: "[Tanya] gets carried away as she talks to him. Tanya wants some support, but Greg won't give it to her. He says, 'I've got to go, the car's on the meter'. I mean, come on! Who ever had a car on a meter in Albert Square? I think that says it all, really."

She continued: "He's a bit rubbish. It's a surprise, because I thought Greg would be the one who'd stick around and help out.

"But you know what? He actually doesn't owe Tanya a thing, does he? Maybe he's grown some balls. He'd be a complete mug to come back and nurse her through this."

Greg left Walford in August after discovering that Tanya had been cheating on him with her ex-husband Max.

EastEnders airs Greg's brief return on Friday, October 21 at 8pm on BBC One.
