Former Home and Away star Lincoln Lewis has signed up for a guest role in Neighbours.
The actor, who quit his role as Geoff Campbell in Home and Away in 2009, will join Ramsay Street for a four-week stint.
In scenes to be filmed in Port Douglas, Northern Queensland, Lewis will play a marine biologist who encounters some Erinsborough locals including Kate Ramsay - played by Ashleigh Brewer.
Kate is on a mission to escape the drama of Erinsborough when she meets Lewis's charismatic character Dominic Emmerson and finds him to be the distraction she has been looking for.
"I've wanted to be on Neighbours since I was a little kid and finally it has happened," Lincoln said. "I'm filming in Port Douglas and working with Ashleigh Brewer and Stefan Dennis, it doesn't get any better."
Lewis and Brewer have previously worked together in children's series The Sleepover Club when they were aged 12.
Lewis is currently starring in Australian television mini-series Underbelly: Razor.
Neighbours has been tipped to boost tourism in North Queensland by featuring the region in a forthcoming storyline.
Cast and crew at the long-running soap are about to start filming special episodes which see Kate Ramsay head off to Far North Queensland after deciding that she needs time away from Ramsay Street.
Show producers have confirmed that Kate (Ashleigh Brewer) flees after she makes a mistake which causes her to lose her job and friends. However, things start to look up during her holiday when she meets a new love interest called Dominic Emmerson, played by former Home and Away actor Lincoln Lewis.
Tourism bosses in North Queensland have now expressed their excitement over the on-location scenes, which are expected to centre around Port Douglas.
Doug Ryan, head of tourism for Port Douglas and Daintree, told Travelbite: "Neighbours is arguably Australia's favourite national TV export and is watched by more than ten million viewers around the globe, including 1.5 million fans in the UK and 450,000 fans here in Australia.
"The timing couldn't be better. Just as the UK and northern Europe enters the depths of winter, Neighbours will project vibrant reef scenes, stunning rainforests and the iconic charm of the tropics right into their lounge rooms."
Paul Robinson, played by Stefan Dennis, will also appear in the episodes when more trouble at home leads to him embarking on a desperate mission to bring Kate back to Ramsay Street before it's too late.
Neighbours' Queensland episodes will air in early 2012.
Former Home and Away star Lincoln Lewis has revealed that his Neighbours character will be a "cheeky" guy with an appetite for adventure.
As announced late last year, Lewis has filmed a short guest stint for the Ramsay Street soap which will see him portray marine biologist Dominic Emmerson.
Established character Kate Ramsay (Ashleigh Brewer) meets Dominic after she flees to Port Douglas, Queensland in an upcoming storyline.
Following recent turbulent events in her personal life, Kate is searching for an escape and she is soon blown over by Dominic's charming ways.
Lewis, revealing what fans can expect from Dominic, told Adelaide Now: "The producers said it was going to be a fun role to play, that it would take a week to shoot, and that it would be in Port Douglas. I had just finished Underbelly. I got to return to Queensland. That's all [the encouragement] I needed.
"At the start, Dominic comes across as annoying but as time goes by you see it is just a cheeky persistence. He has a live-for-the-moment attitude. Nothing is too much drama for him."
Discussing her character's role in the storyline, Ashleigh Brewer commented: "Kate has been through a lot of heartache. Everything gets too much so she needs to have a break, get away, and find herself again."
Lewis played Geoff Campbell on Home and Away between 2007 and 2010.
