Neighbours bosses have announced that a real-life band will be joining the soap for a one-month guest stint.

William and the Tells, a four-piece indie group, start filming at the show next week for a new storyline which sees Andrew Robinson (Jordan Smith) try his luck as a band manager, Channel 5's Neighbours website reports.

The quartet comprise of brothers William and Peter Ewing along with their friends Ben Callaghan and Sam Walsh. On screen, the musicians will be known as Red Cotton.

As part of the storyline, William and the Tells will be showcasing their own material as they perform at Charlie's Bar.

Frontman William Ewing, who is currently studying drama at the National Theatre in Melbourne, commented: "It's a huge opportunity for a bunch of local boys. Being able to blend acting and music will be great fun, and I'm looking forward to meeting long-time hero Lou Carpenter."

The group's first Neighbours episode will air in Australia in January and in the UK a few weeks afterwards.

Bosses at Channel 4 soap Hollyoaks also recently signed up a real-life band named Daytona Lights who will feature in upcoming storylines.
