Simon Cowell is reportedly planning an X Factor musical.
The Syco boss, who stepped down from the judging panel of the UK show to launch the upcoming American version, is said to be in talks to open a new West End show based on the hit competition.
Cowell has held talks with music producer Steve Brown about writing material while comedian Harry Hill has been approached to be involved in scripting the musical, according to The Mirror.
"Simon is excited by the idea of taking The X Factor brand on to the London stage," a source told the paper. "He is looking at great new songs and some laughter. It would be a perfect night out for *X Factor fans and former stars of the show could be involved in it.
"Steve is excited to be working with Simon. He has recently been invited into his inner circle, helping last year's X Factor runner-up Rebecca Ferguson on her debut album. He also knows how to create songs which get a laugh, so he could be perfect."
The alleged insider continued: "Simon doesn't want a super-serious musical. He thinks if this is going to be something that works it needs to be funny and have songs people might sing along to, but also laugh along with. Given how much Simon enjoys making money, I'm surprised he didn't think of it sooner."
Since The X Factor began in the UK it has launched the careers of Leona Lewis, JLS, Alexandra Burke and One Direction among others.
The X Factor continues with a Boot Camp double bill this weekend on ITV1 in the UK, while the US version of the show makes its debut this week on Fox.
