View Full Version : Julie Carp and Brian Packham
Coronation Street couple Julie Carp and Brian Packham will become UFO spotters in a forthcoming storyline, a report has claimed.
The eccentric pair, played by Katy Cavanagh and Peter Gunn, find a new shared interest in the coming weeks when they think they have seen strange objects overhead, according to the Daily Star.
It is thought that Julie and Brian soon spring into action and start keeping watch on the skies in the light-hearted plotline.
Brian apparently takes the lead in the new project, telling Julie that he is a "respected expert" in the field of UFO landings.
Meanwhile, Julie soon gets caught in the moment, grabbing Brian and admitting: "This UFO spotting business is really turning me on."
A Coronation Street source told the newspaper: "This could only happen to Julie."
Julie and Brian reunited on screen in the summer.

From Kirk to Brian she knows how to pick them
Plenty of Aliens in Corrie anyways
Coronation Street star Katy Cavanagh has revealed that she wants her character Julie Carp to marry Brian Packham.
The pair dated briefly last year but recently reunited following a chance meeting at a children's reading group.
Cavanagh told News & Star of her alter ego's future: "Well, she's fallen in love and is just about to move in with Brian. Hopefully there are going to be some big storylines for her.
"They are going to stay together. Julie has got a good man - I will be severely disappointed if I can't get a wedding dress! Though she may have to drag Brian down the aisle."
Discussing how Julie has changed, the actress continued: "I'm not sure she has toned down, but I've had more opportunity to flesh her out and make her more three-dimensional and this year I have really found my feet with her."
Julie and Brian (Peter Gunn) were today tipped to become UFO spotters in a forthcoming storyline.
I love the idea of Julie and Brian becoming UFO spotters :D
Roy Cropper is bound to get involved in this storyline. Wouldn't it be a great storyline to bring Curly Watts back with. After all he used to have a telescope in the attic so he could have become someone important in the field of UFOLOLOGY

You know I admire how Corrie embrace their eccentric characters like Roy and Hayley. I just hope they don't end up making a public humiliation of Julie and Brian.
While no one is quite rising from the grave, Weatherfield is about to get a whole lot spookier for two unknowing residents ahead of Halloween.
Brian Packham, played by Peter Gunn, and Julie Carp, played by Katy Cavanagh, go on their second UFO-spotting date and end up getting more than they bargained for.
Unknown to the couple, Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall) and Tommy Duckworth (Chris Fountain) discovered what the duo were doing and decided to play a trick on them.

On their previous alien excursion at the Red Rec, Brian and Julie's extraterrestrial shenanigans led to some rather risqué activity.
Factory supervisor Julie felt a little hot under the collar, saying: 'This UFO spotting business is really turning me on.
She then grabbed her boyfriend, adding: 'Make love to me Brian, I'll protect you from little green men,' before the couple were seen rolling around on their blanket.

Coronation Street star Katy Cavanagh has said that her character Julie Carp is a big hit with male fans of the soap.
The actress, who has been with the show since 2008, explained that "slightly older" men seem to find Julie particularly appealing.
"It's really weird, but I always get men over the age of 40 coming up to me and saying, 'I love Julie, I love Julie'. Not the wives - it's always the husbands who are fond of her," Cavanagh told The Mirror.
"I get lots of lorry drivers talking to me, too. And I get fan mail from men as well. I had a really lovely poem from a man who was slightly in love with Julie. He must have been over 60 and it was really nice.
"So I think there's something going on there with Julie and the male psyche. She's a throwback to a time when women behaved themselves, one of those old-fashioned women who'd do anything to keep her man happy. Maybe that appeals to slightly older men.
"And she's always nicely turned out. Sometimes men like it when women make an effort and we don't always make so much of an effort nowadays."
Cavanagh also confirmed that she is still hoping for Julie to marry boyfriend Brian Packham (Peter Gunn) this year.
"These things are out of our hands, but I would love them to get married - it would be hilarious," she said.
Cavanagh was last month confirmed as part of the lineup for Coronation Street's new musical Street of Dreams, which has its premiere in Manchester in March.

Coronation Street character Julie Carp will fall pregnant by her boyfriend this year, it has been reported.
The factory worker, who is portrayed by 38-year-old actress Katy Cavanagh, is currently having a fling with teacher Brian Packham (Peter Gunn). However, her integrity is due to be doubted when she breaks her "happy" news to him.
According to the Daily Star, viewers will see Julie's happiness at her potential pregnancy when she tells her sister Eileen Grimshaw, played by Sue Cleaver.
However, Brian becomes convinced that Julie has cheated on him, as he confesses to Ken Barlow (William Roache) that he can't be the father because he had a vasectomy three years ago.
Cavanagh recently revealed that she gets a lot of attention from "slightly older" male fans, saying: "It's really weird, but I always get men over the age of 40 coming up to me and saying, 'I love Julie, I love Julie'. Not the wives - it's always the husbands who are fond of her.
"I get lots of lorry drivers talking to me, too. And I get fan mail from men as well. I had a really lovely poem from a man who was slightly in love with Julie. He must have been over 60 and it was really nice
Coronation Street star Katy Cavanagh has predicted that Julie Carp will be "completely appalled" if her partner Brian Packham accuses her of having an affair.
As first revealed last month, Cavanagh's character will discover that she is pregnant in an upcoming storyline. However, her happy news leaves Brian stunned as he had a vasectomy some time ago and hasn't told Julie.
The plot then shows Brian (Peter Gunn) in turmoil as he wonders whether Julie has cheated on him.
However, Cavanagh told Soaplife: "She'd never be unfaithful. And she'd be completely appalled, bemused, betrayed and angry that he could ever think she had been."
Discussing Brian's attitude, she continued: "Julie certainly doesn't get the reaction she expects. She thinks he'll be overwhelmed at the thought of being a dad, but he doesn't even come home that night."
Cavanagh added that she believes Julie and Brian can overcome the misunderstanding eventually.
"She'd forgive him everything, especially now she's carrying his baby," the actress said.
Coronation Street continues tonight at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV1.
Coronation Street star Katy Cavanagh has predicted that there will be "chaotic" scenes when her eccentric character Julie Carp becomes a mother.
Julie discovers that she is pregnant in an upcoming episode after weeks of trying for a baby with partner Brian Packham (Peter Gunn).
Pondering Julie's possible approach to motherhood, Cavanagh told Inside Soap: "Julie will be ridiculous. She'll take everything people tell her literally. It will drive her sister Eileen absolutely mad.
"Julie will work hard at being a mum, but it'll be quite chaotic. She'll probably end up leaving the child in the supermarket! She'll adore her baby, though - it won't be left wanting in the love department."
As previously reported, Brian is initially left wondering whether the baby is really his - as he had a vasectomy some time ago and failed to tell Julie.
Cavanagh commented: "She and Brian have been talking loads about having a child together, and he's seemed really into the idea. The viewers may have been aware that he's been looking a little bit shifty about the whole thing - but Julie hasn't noticed that anything's wrong."
Coronation Street continues on Thursday at 8.30pm on ITV1.

I'm sure this is all very good and all that but I really just couldn't care less about Brian as a character because there is absolutely no way in the world he would ever be a headmaster. I really think that giving him that job in Corrie spoils any story he might be in.
Does Julie live on the street?
I want to know how brian went from being head of english for 11-16 year olds to a primary school headmsster overnight!!

been wondering that too, unless producer/scriptwriters have changed their minds
That will happen soon as Brian realises he is to become a daddy and that he is the father which will be just after he loses his job as a head teacher
Do your really think Milton will be around long enough to open anything. Strangely enough I expected him to open a little tailors shop called Del Floria's

The thread is about Julie and Brian, nothing to do with Milton
Coronation Street star Katy Cavanagh has predicted that her eccentric character Julie Carp will forgive partner Brian Packham after he wrongly accuses her of an affair.
Brian (Peter Gunn) has been left in turmoil after learning that Julie is pregnant, fearing that he can't be the father as he had a vasectomy some time ago.
After Brian accuses Julie of sleeping with another man, the pair visit Doctor Carter (Oliver Mellor) at the medical centre later this week - hoping for an explanation.
Cavanagh told This Morning today: "[At first], Julie's got absolutely no idea why Brian's not over the moon as well. Obviously they've been trying extremely hard to make babies! It's going to completely knock her for six.
"Doctor Carter's going to put it all right. He's going to tell us that apparently, if you have a vasectomy, it's not always 100%. It's all going to come alright in the end, but Brian's really hurt her."
Asked whether Julie can forgive and forget Brian's accusation, the actress replied: "Well, Julie's got a lovely goldfish kind of memory, I think! She likes everything to be lovely.
"I love her, she's brilliant. It's lovely being nice!"
Cavanagh added that she is expecting more comic scenes for the pair as they prepare for parenthood.
She said: "Julie will love it. She'll be reading every book, she'll be looking at every possible thing - natural birth and all sorts. She'll be having Brian doing all sorts of mad stuff, I think!"
Coronation Street continues on Friday at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV1.
Coronation Street star Katy Cavanagh has joked that her character Julie Carp would probably make her own maternity clothes.
The factory worker is expecting a baby with her headteacher boyfriend Brian Packham (Peter Gunn), although her pregnancy got off to a rocky start when Brian revealed he had undergone a vasectomy and accused Julie of cheating.
"I should imagine Julie will be having some very interesting maternity outfits that she can make herself. That will be good fun," Cavanagh told MSN.
"I think [Julie and Brian are] all sorted now. They're on cloud nine and they're very excited about being parents. Julie's very, very happy, I think she's never been this happy.
"Julie just thinks Brian's amazing, so he's going to be this incredible father in Julie's head. I would imagine she is probably putting a lot of pressure on him, but I don't think Julie would think so.
"She has her own version of life, doesn't she? As far as she's concerned, Brian is absolutely delirious about having a baby and it's all going to be fabulous."
The 38-year-old actress recently signed up to play the Angel of the North in the Corrie stage musical Street Of Dreams.
Coronation Street's Katy Cavanagh is reportedly pregnant.
The actress, who plays Julie Carp in the Weatherfield soap, is said to be expecting her third child with filmmaker husband Chris Jupe.
Coronation Street Blog reports that Cavanagh is due to give birth in the spring of next year.
She and Jupe are already parents to Noah, 8, and Jemma, 5.
The real-life development leaves Coronation Street producers in an awkward situation, as they will be unable to write her pregnancy into the storyline.
Cavanagh's character Julie had her ovaries removed earlier this year after a growth led to a false result on a pregnancy test.

CORRIE favourite Peter Gunn has been axed from the soap, The Sun can reveal.
The actor, who plays Brian Packham, was given the boot by new producer Stuart Blackburn last week.
Peter, who first appeared in Weatherfield in April 2010, will leave the cobbles later this year.
The shock axing — the first since ex-Emmerdale boss Stuart took the reins — has sparked fears that more stars could soon be heading for the exit.
An ITV source said: “Brian goes down well with the viewers. They love his light-hearted banter. Peter has done a brilliant job in developing the character.
“Most of the staff thought his position was as safe as houses. So when the news came out of the blue that he was getting the chop, people were shocked.
“It is nerve-racking when someone new comes in to try to change things. It was expected that a younger star with little connection to viewers would be the first out. But it seems the new boss felt the character was running out of steam for the future.
“Peter will be missed by lots of people around here. And the atmosphere on set has become very tense because everyone is wondering who will be next.”
Peter became a regular when previous bosses decided to flesh out his English teacher bit-part.
They saw his bumbling character as an easy source of comedy — and he soon became a hit with viewers.
After landing the job of head at Bessie Street School, he kicked off a steamy relationship with factory worker Julie Carp, played by Katy Cavanagh.
A Corrie spokesman said last night: “Peter will leave at the end of his current contract.
“The decision is purely storyline-driven. Peter is a great actor who has made the character of Brian Packham a joy to watch.”

awwww I like Brian, and I liked the relationship between Brain and Julie. What a shame.
Still, I suppose with the actress who plays Julie on maternity leave soon, they didn`t know how to write for Brian when Julie leaves for maternity leave. That`s sloppy writing in my opinion.

I couldn't agree more, LV.
CORRIE star Katy Cavanagh has given birth to her third child after a real-life Call The Midwife delivery.
The star who plays flaky factory worker Julie Carp in the soap, used Independent Midwives UK – a firm that operates outside of the NHS – to help deliver her son Jacobi at home.
And she was so impressed she has pledged to help battle against laws that could make independent midwives ILLEGAL.
New government legislation will outlaw the home service if they do not have suitable insurance – which is difficult to get.
Katy said: “It’s vital women have a choice of who cares for them during pregnancy and birth. I have nothing but praise for the NHS but they were unable to provide me with a known midwife or guarantee the birth of my choice.”
Corrie fans have not seen infertile Julie for months after she was written out when Katy became pregnant.

Coronation Street actress Katy Cavanagh has tipped her character Julie Carp to search for a new love interest after current partner Brian Packham leaves the soap.
Fans know that Peter Gunn, who plays Brian, will soon be bowing out on screen after show bosses decided to write out his character.
While exact details of Brian's exit have yet to be revealed, Julie will be heartbroken as her relationship comes to an end.
Cavanagh admitted: "She's going to be devastated and moan for England. However, with Julie being Julie, she will bounce back. She's a bit of a survivor and as long as she has her family around her and she doesn't get too lonely, I think she'll try and find herself a new man."
On the departure of co-star Gunn, she added: "I'm absolutely beside myself. I will miss him terribly. He's a fantastic actor and it's been amazing to work with him. Brian and Julie have just been heaven and worked really well as characters together."
Upcoming episodes will show the couple start to drift apart as Brian struggles to tell Julie that he doesn't want to foster children.
Brian is also offered a new job in Wales but fails to tell Julie anything about it.
Cavanagh explained: "It's actually Todd who finally lets slip about the job. He randomly comes up to her in the street when she's getting her Christmas cards and tells her. I think the fact that she doesn't find out by Brian makes it even worse for Julie to grasp.
"I think she would like to forgive him, but this is a huge thing for Julie. She won't see it as just a little white lie because this affects her whole life.
"This might be the wake-up call that shows her that things aren't working and they both want different things. They both really love each other but I'm not sure if they can make a compromise. Julie wants children but Brian doesn't and Julie is going to have to realise that Brian's not going to shift."

Poor Julie. Would make a really good mum. Hope she finds a partner who has kids and is on his own.
Coronation Street star Katy Cavanagh has revealed that she would like to delve deeper into the "vulnerable" side of her character Julie Carp.
Julie is heading for heartbreak over the next fortnight, as her relationship with Brian Packham breaks down when they are forced to accept that they want different things.
Peter Gunn, who plays Brian, has left the ITV soap and his final scenes air next week.
Speaking on ITV's Lorraine this morning (December 10), Cavanagh explained: "She's so in love with him, or in love with her idea of who she wants him to be, and she's not really dealing with the reality of Brian. I don't think she's ever really dealt with the reality of Brian!"
Asked whether Julie will feature more on screen as a consequence of the story, the actress replied: "You never know. We never get told anything. But I hope so. I think there's a lot more that you could discover about her.
"It'd be nice to see her behind closed doors a little bit, because I think there's a real vulnerability to her. I think she's lonely and I think she wants a family. She wants to be part of something."
Cavanagh also discussed the upcoming on-screen exit of Julie Hesmondhalgh's terminally-ill character Hayley Cropper, who will end her own life in January in a 'right to die' storyline.
She said: "It's honestly been real. We're all still grieving. We miss her so much. The funeral, because we've shot all that now, was heartbreaking."

Coronation Street star Katy Cavanagh has decided to leave the show after seven years in the role of Julie Carp.
The actress has chosen not to renew her current contract with the ITV soap but will remain on screen until late spring.
Julie's exit storyline will see her decide to move away from Weatherfield after her relationship with Dev Alahan (Jimmi Harkishin) runs into trouble.
When Dev returns to the cobbles after a trip to India, the couple's romance starts to unravel - prompting Julie to rethink her life and seek a fresh start elsewhere.
In a statement released today (February 4), Cavanagh commented: "I have decided it's time to take a break from the cobbles and pursue other projects and opportunities.
"I have loved every minute in the world of Julie Carp and I'm not ruling out a return to the Street in the future. However, I am looking forward to a new challenge and a pair of flat shoes."

"Everyone at Corrie wishes Katy all the very best and hopefully as far as Julie is concerned, the cobbles haven't seen the last of her."
Cavanagh joined the show's cast in early 2008.

Yes shame she is leaving. Means Mary will still have a big hold over him.
Coronation Street bosses have confirmed that Peter Gunn will be reprising his role as Brian Packham.
It is believed that the former headteacher's return will coincide with Julie Carp's exit storyline later in the year.

It was previously reported that Katy Cavanagh has quit the role of Julie after seven years, and will exit Weatherfield in the spring after her relationship with Dev Alahan (Jimmi Harkishin) runs into trouble.
Prior to her relationship with Dev, Julie had a strong partnership with Brian before they split in 2013 and he left for a new job in Wales.
The couple had run into problems after a medical scare for Julie resulted in her ovaries being removed, dashing her hopes of starting a family with Brian.
Brian then deliberately scuppered her chance of fostering, before revealing that he didn't actually want children at all.
The Daily Star reports that Brian's unexpected return to Weatherfield will leave Julie gobsmacked.
While details surrounding Brian's return storyline are being kept under wraps, it looks like Julie and Brian might get a happy ending after all.

I`ve always liked Brian, and thought he and Julie made a wonderful couple.
It`s great to see Brian come back, but I`ll miss them both when they leave. At least they get a happy ending. :)
Brian Packham makes a shock return to Coronation Street next week and he’s on the hunt for his old flame Julie Carp.
His arrival comes at the right time because Julie’s romance with Dev Alahan is on the rocks.
Julie tells Mary Taylor that she’s expecting Dev to propose as he’s invited her out for a meal tonight.
But Mary’s aghast when Dev admits he’s not planning marriage, but instead intends to confess that he met someone else in India and wants to break up!
Meanwhile Beth Sutherland’s shocked to spot Brian knocking on at No.12 for Julie. Informing him that Julie’s happily dating Dev now, Beth sends Brian away with a flea in his ear.
Later, Mary informs Julie that Brian’s back in town leaving her speechless at the news.
When there’s a knock at No.7, she dives for the door thinking it might be Brian but Dev opens it to a striking-looking woman instead.
Mary and Julie are lost for words as Dev awkwardly greets his new love interest, Talisa.

Coronation Street gossip: Brian’s back for Julie!
Coronation Street’s Brian Packham makes a brief appearance back on the cobbles this week but is sent packing by Beth Sutherland. However, next week the teacher returns to the street again, informing Ken Barlow he’s jacked in his job in Wales in the hope to win back Julie Carp. Brian makes an attempt to plead with Julie that they are destined to be together but he’s left deflated when she tells him that she’s now with Dev Alahan. Meanwhile, Julie’s life with Dev is looking a lot less rosy that she makes out to Brian as she quizzes Talisa about how long she plans to stick around. Julie thinks it’s time for Talisa to get a job and suggests she starts teaching yoga at the community centre. Later in the week Brian approaches Julie in front of Dev, suggesting they go on their holiday together, but yet again Julie sends him packing. How will Dev react to this and will Brian give up without a fight?

Yes, they really did a number on Brian when they decided to axe him. Stupid decision as he fitted in so well. :wall:

I agree. Unless Julie comes back at some point too .. which I would like .. She has Eileen on the Street and family ... Brian was sick of kids and teaching, so coming back in that profession would be wrong ... but why else would he come back?? :searchme:

Brian now works for the council for complaints about food hygiene, I thought he was a teacher :searchme: He was but started to hate it before he left Corrie .. got retrained but obviously they never taught him not to accept food from the premises he is to inspect and also not to pay for it !!!
Since when have environmental health been that quick and why would they arrange to meet the anonymous complainant at the place of complaint and how would Adam know what time they are comng. Why would Brian eat before inspecting. Was he always like this using hs position as i cannot think why Roy would be his friend

More great research by the Corrie team into the way Councils work.

I am annoyed they have done that! Brian was bearable in the classroom (believable not so much) but when he doesn't have a job he grates on me! I hated his character when he worked for the council
