Matt Cardle has said that Gary Barlow managed to write a song he was trying to pen for years in the shape of his debut single 'Run For Your Life'.
Take That star Gary has written the song that Matt will release in October, with the X Factor winner revealing that he was delighted when Barlow's track was sent to him.
"We had 90% of the album written, and then really late in the process, Gary sent the song through," Matt told BBC Breakfast. "I really related to it. I've been in that position many times, you know, that the song is talking about.
Cardle went on to say, "It's about not being good enough for the person you're with and not being able to give enough. I've actually been trying to write that kind of song for a long time - it's putting yourself down in a clever way."
Adding: "Gary nailed it, and then he let me have a go at singing it. I couldn't pass it up, so I'm really happy about that."

He did on the show last year.
I think Matt should have be the first of last year's contestants and as the winner to have a single and album out

Yeah the first couple of winner's of x-factor released single's and album pretty quickly after the show but the last couple of years the production has taken months. It's not as if Matt would be writing all the songs himself. His first album will have mostly cover versions on it so I don't know what the hold up has been.

X Factor winner Matt Cardle has hit out at One Direction and Simon Cowell, for allowing the boys to release music before him. Matt, who releases his debut single next month, said it was “*******” that the boys were able to put their first track out ahead of the winner.
In an interview with the Sunday Mirror, Matt also criticised Cher Lloyd and the show itself, saying he wanted to ditch his association with it.
He moaned to the newspaper today: “They’re competition and it is ******* they got to release before the winner of the actual show.
“It’s also worrying me that if One Direction decide to get slicker and go for more of an older market, then I’m stuffed too. It shouldn’t have happened really. Simon’s naughty.”
He continued to whinge: “I just hope I’ll be able to cement myself into the charts before that happens. Otherwise I’ll be fuming. I can’t win unless I have an album that does the talking, and I think it does.”
And he took a swipe at both Cher Lloyd and One Direction, saying the pair rushed their debut records.
“If I had my album *finished by the time Cher Lloyd and One Direction got their tracks in the charts then I would have been really bothered,” he explained. “But the truth is I wasn’t finished. Simon let me go away and co-write the album and work on this as a long-term *project.”
With his debut album out next month, Matt added he wanted to “shake off The X Factor tag.”
He nearly have been better not winning hope he does well though
