Vanessa is disgusted when she finds out what Darren has done, which forces Darren to make a heartbreaking decision, as the drama in Walford continues.

Syed is hurt when he finds out that Zainab has withheld information from him and refuses to forgive her... little does he know that Yusef is behind it all.

Everything gets too much for Tanya as she tries to deal with Lauren and Abi's behaviour and she decides to tell someone about her illness.

Jodie starts to worry about money following last night's events, but Poppy has an idea that could solve all her problems, in tonight's visit to Walford.

Ben is hurt when he sees how impressed Phil is while he watches Jay box, so he decides to ask Christian to coach him.

Elsewhere, Zainab is determined to stop taking the sleeping pills that Yusef has been giving her... but is Yusef ready to relinquish his control over her?

Phil mocks Ben's attempts at boxing and arranges for him to spar with Duncan, one of Jay's friends, as the drama in Walford continues. But Ben soon realises that he is interested in Duncan as more than a boxing partner.

Over on EastEnders, Darren's friends band together to make his stag celebrations a night to remember, while his brother Mickey makes a surprise return for the occasion.

As things get rowdy at the party, the boys cheekily ask Mandy to put her experience to good use by stripping for them, and she happily obliges until Alfie steps in to stop her.

At the same time, Jodie, Poppy and the girls head over to the R&R for the hen night, which includes karaoke and cocktails.

The next day, Poppy helps an excited Jodie to get ready for her upcoming wedding and the bride-to-be looks beautiful. However, with Darren guilt-ridden following a drunken encounter with Lauren, will the day go as planned?

An EastEnders insider commented: "Jodie is really excited about getting married and even cuts her hen do short so she can go to see Darren!

"The boys are determined to throw Darren a great stag party, but he is more concerned that Jodie doesn't find out the secret that could cause her to call the whole thing off…"

Monday
Darren wakes up in the car lot office with Lauren and is mortified as he remembers that he cheated on Jodie last night. Just as the pair vow to keep their drunken encounter a secret, they're shocked as they hear the office door close and wonder who has caught them. Later, Darren shares the news of his indiscretion with a shocked Fatboy. At the same time, Jodie is eagerly awaiting her fiancé's return back at the flat - appearing positive and upbeat over tomorrow's ceremony even though Darren is nowhere to be seen. When Darren does catch up with Jodie, he asks her about Anthony and she assures him that nothing happened between them and the wedding is still on.


Later, Fatboy accidentally reveals Darren's cheating to Whitney and Mickey, who has returned for the stag night. Soon afterwards, Mickey shares the secret with Poppy as he tries to win her affections. Poppy is appalled by the revelation and confronts Darren, warning him to come clean with Jodie by the end of the day. Jodie's hen night goes ahead as planned with cocktails and karaoke, but Poppy later tells Lauren that she's banned from attending tomorrow's wedding, and soon decides to tell her friend everything. As Poppy informs Jodie that Darren cheated on her last night, she receives a shock as Jodie admits that she already knows - she saw Darren and Lauren at the car lot this morning…

Meanwhile, Eddie informs Anthony that Tyler will be woken up in hospital later today. Soon afterwards, Michael tries to help out his family by doing some work at the antiques emporium, and he assures Eddie that they can keep quiet over the Craig secret until Tyler is better. Later, Vanessa confronts Michael and demands the money she is owed for her part in his scheming. Michael hands over the cash as agreed, but warns Vanessa to stay away from the Moon family from now on. However, as Tyler wakes up in his hospital room and appears well, Vanessa is by Eddie's side to support him - offering him a hug. It seems that Vanessa hasn't been scared off by Michael's warning.


Elsewhere, Tanya has her operation after making up an excuse for where she is going; Mickey convinces Mandy to strip for the stag party; Faith makes a move on Fatboy and the pair end up in bed together; Tanya is overwhelmed with emotion as she considers what her family's life would be like without her; and Phil is pleased to have evidence he could use against Mandy after taking a picture of her stripping.


Tuesday

It's the day of the wedding and despite her knowledge that Darren has cheated on her, Jodie is adamant that the ceremony will go ahead and gets ready at the flat with Poppy. When Vanessa hears what Darren has done, she's shocked to learn that Jodie has already forgiven him. Vanessa soon confronts Darren - expressing her disappointment that he's just like all the others, leaving Darren to question whether he really deserves Jodie. Later, just as he's about to leave for the wedding, Darren puts a stop to everything and rushes towards Jodie on Bridge Street. He tells her that he can't go through with the wedding and a stunned Jodie runs off.

Later, Darren hides out with Heather, who tries to persuade him that there's still a way for the wedding to go ahead. Despite Heather's encouragement, Darren is downcast and he says that the money he saved for the reception will all go to George. When Darren catches up with Tamwar later, he tells his friend that he's decided to leave Albert Square. Before Darren goes, he apologises to Jodie - saying that he hates the man he's turned into. Jodie considers running after his car as he leaves, but soon realises that her relationship with Darren is over.

Meanwhile, scheming Yusef hands over a sherwani brochure to Christian, saying that he found it. As Christian flicks through the magazine with Syed, a scrap of paper falls out - showing Zainab's shopping list and Amira's phone number. Syed calls the number but is disappointed when Qadim answers rather than Amira, saying that he doesn't know where his daughter is. Later, Syed confronts Zainab, who is confused as she remembers throwing the number away. Syed is furious that his mother has been withholding information from him.

Elsewhere, Abi, Ben and Lola terrorise Grace all day by playing practical jokes and ruining her gardens; Faith receives a slap from Grace as punishment for throwing a wild party last night; while Tanya snaps when Lauren accuses her of sleeping around - revealing that she is sick.

Thursday
Zainab's use of sleeping pills is continuing to take its toll and she wakes up late for work. Soon afterwards, she bumps into Syed, who is still angry with her for keeping Amira's number from him. Tamwar is also unhappy with Zainab, asking why she hid Amira's number and pointing out that she can't control everyone. Later, Zainab goes to see Yusef and says that she knows she threw Amira's number away. However, Yusef manipulates Zainab into thinking that she is mistaken. Deciding that the sleeping pills are clouding her mind, Zainab vows to stop taking them from now on.


Yusef is unwilling to relinquish his control over Zainab and soon puts another plan into action, offering her a different set of pills which he promises will stop the symptoms. When Yusef brings them over to Zainab at home, she says that she wants to come off the pills completely. However, taking his twisted plots a step further, Yusef crushes up the pills into a powder to put them into her food. After dinner, Zainab feels drowsy and collapses on the sofa. While she's unconscious, Yusef walks over to her and plants the pill bottle in her hand. He then exits the house, leaving a lifeless Zainab behind - looking as though she has made a suicide attempt. Will she survive?


Meanwhile, Phil is full of pride as he sees Jay sparring with Duncan. Ben is also watching but is forced into having a go following some goading from Phil. Ben goes into the ring with his father, but struggles to hold his own. Later, Ben approaches Christian for help with training, saying that he wants to join the boxing gym. When the pair meet for their first training session, Christian notes that Ben seems to have a lot of anger that he needs to get out. Is he right?

Elsewhere, a worried Lauren starts researching cervical cancer online following her mother's confession, while Tanya heads off to another appointment after lying to Lauren about where she's going; Poppy suggests that she should move in with Jodie to help her through her emotional time; and Tanya berates Jay for encouraging Abi's recent bad behaviour - leading to a clash between her and Phil.

Friday

Tanya is worried that Lauren may have told Cora about her illness, but Lauren assures her that this isn't the case and she'll keep the secret. As Abi's rebellious behaviour continues, Lauren orders her to start obeying their mother. Tanya is relieved that she now has Lauren's support, and this continues when Lauren confiscates Abi's possessions to ensure that she doesn't misbehave again.

Later, Tanya continues to confide in Lauren over her illness, revealing some sad news - her cancer has spread and she'll need chemo-radiotherapy immediately. Tanya breaks down over her situation but Lauren puts on a brave face, trying to stay strong.


Meanwhile, Phil sees that Ben is exhausted at the boxing gym and when Christian shows his support for the teen, Phil mocks his credentials, commenting that boxing is better than show tunes. Phil says that Ben would pay for a proper trainer if he was really committed to boxing, but Ben isn't pleased to see that his father doubts Christian's abilities just because he's gay. Later, Phil arranges for Harry to train Ben and it's decided that Duncan will spar with the youngster.

As Ben's latest round of training begins, Duncan teaches him that he should look into the eyes of his opponent. However, Ben ends up blushing as he meets Duncan's gaze. Once the session is over, Ben kisses Duncan before quickly pulling away and apologising. However, Duncan soon kisses him back - leaving Ben thrilled.

More on sleeping pill story

EastEnders airs Zainab and Yusef's chilling new storyline twist next week as the manipulative doctor steps up his attempts to control his ex-wife.

Things start to go wrong for Yusef (Ace Bhatti) in next week's episodes when Zainab vows to stop taking the sleeping pills that he has been supplying her with, expressing fears that they've been clouding her mind.

When Zainab (Nina Wadia) adds that her next priority will be trying to mend her relationship with her family, Yusef realises that he can't let this happen and stoops to a new low in order to keep his schemes on track.

Secretly crushing up a new set of pills into Zainab's food as she cooks a meal, Yusef waits for the drugs to take effect and is grimly satisfied when his former partner collapses on the sofa.

Yusef then places a pill bottle into the hand of unconscious Zainab before leaving the house, hoping to fool people into thinking that she's made a suicide attempt.

Although Yusef doesn't want to kill Zainab, he hopes that his latest stunt will result in her becoming more reliant on him than ever. Will his scheme go according to plan?

EastEnders star Jacqueline Jossa has predicted that viewers will see a new side to her character Lauren Branning when she discovers that her mother is unwell.

Next week's EastEnders episodes see Tanya Jessop (Jo Joyner) confide in Lauren over her sad secret, explaining that she has been diagnosed with cervical cancer.

Jossa told Inside Soap of Lauren's reaction: "Immediately, there's a change in her - with Tanya so sick, Lauren has to grow up. You'd expect her to dive into the drink again or something like that, but she's right there for Tanya from the minute she finds out what's going on."

She continued: "Tanya is still convinced she'll be fine, but then she finds out that the cancer has begun to spread. Tanya's really vulnerable at that point and it's Lauren who's saying, 'We're going to fix this and everything will be fine'.

"She's there for her mum the whole time - shopping, cooking, cleaning, looking after Abi and Oscar. She really wants to help Tanya and actually enjoys the responsibility."

EastEnders fans will see Tanya tell Lauren the truth next Tuesday at 7.30pm on BBC One.
