Coronation Street and Emmerdale have schedule changes on the way for the week that Simon Cowell's new gameshow Red or Black airs on ITV1.

An extra Coronation Street episode will be airing on Sunday, September 4 at 8pm and the Weatherfield soap then moves out of its normal slots for the rest of the week - including airing some more post-watershed episodes.

With a Euro 2012 qualifier between England and Wales also in the mix, Emmerdale is affected too and won't be airing a Tuesday episode that week, but there's hour-long editions to make up for the disruption.

See full details of the changed schedule below:

Sunday, September 4
8.00pm - Coronation Street

Monday, September 5
7.00pm - Emmerdale (Hour-long episode)
9.00pm - Coronation Street

Tensions are also running high over on Coronation Street as the pressure of having seriously-ill Chris living under his roof finally starts to take its toll on Lloyd.

When a row between Chris and Lloyd gets out of hand, things get physical as the two men square up. However, Russ is also at home and he's horrified by the tense scene.

After watching the clash, Russ does a runner from the house and when Chris and Lloyd see that he's missing, they're forced to deal with the realisation that they've let the youngster down.

The warring men try to put their differences aside as they search for Russ, while Cheryl is horrified when she hears what's happened.

Will Russ be found safe? And with Cheryl already growing closer to Chris again, could this incident push her even further away from Lloyd?

Sunday

As Frank's parents arrive and the party gets under way, Carla feels suffocated. Spotting Peter, she starts to drink in a bid to cover her turmoil. However, when Frank makes a speech about how happy he is, all eyes are on Carla. At sea, she starts necking drinks. Peter's about to intervene, but a row kicks off between Leanne and Eva which ends with Leanne laying into Stella, saying she wishes she'd leave town.

A row is also brewing between Frank and Carla as he accuses her of being drunk. She storms off outside, and Frank is stunned to find her behind the wheel of the car. He jumps into the passenger seat in a bid to stop her, but she goes careering off down the street just as Stella heads out to talk to Leanne. Out of control, the car slams into Stella before smashing through the bookies…

Meanwhile, having discovered Leon's escaped, Tyrone and the other lads are on tenterhooks. When they then hear Norris has vanished, their fears grow. What has Leon done to Norris?

Elsewhere, a desperate Russ runs from the house after Chris and Lloyd square up, while Becky starts work at Underworld where Kirk trains her in packing.

Mon

As Frank checks Stella's lifeless body, Peter emerges to survey the carnage. Sending him for an ambulance, Frank drags Carla into the passenger seat, a desperate plan forming. He's just finished when the emergency crews arrive.

An emotional Leanne goes in the ambulance with Stella as Peter calls Karl. Still at the scene, the police question Frank as medics attend to a groggy Carla. At the hospital, Stella's on life support, her injuries critical. But as Frank tells a confused Carla that he's prepared to take the rap for her, will Stella pull through?

Meanwhile, as Norris reveals what happened inside the butcher's, the boys are relieved to hear that Leon has been sent back to jail for breach of parole. As Norris is hailed a hero, Tyrone calls Fiz, who is low after having her cell trashed again. But rallied by the news that Leon is back behind bars, she decides it's time to stand up to Ruth.

Elsewhere, Cheryl is furious to hear that Russ ran off because Lloyd was rowing with Chris, while Becky helps Steve out behind the bar as news of the crash spreads.

Wednesday

Stella is bleeding internally and is taken into surgery, while a distraught Karl, Eva and Leanne wait for news. Seeing Frank, Karl flies at him, demanding to know what happened. Frank continues to cover for Carla, saying that it all happened so fast and Stella came out of nowhere. It's not good enough for Karl who has to be restrained, but will it be enough for the police?

At the same time, Carla's in turmoil. She's horrified to hear that Stella might die and refuses to let Frank take the blame for her. As Frank insists she keep to the story, will Stella pull through?

Meanwhile, as the lads head to a bar in town, Tommy decides that it's time Tyrone got back in the saddle. Getting Kirk and Jason to chip in, he pays an attractive girl to flirt with his mate and boost his self-esteem. Agreeing, Kirsty approaches but as she hits on Tyrone, she enjoys his company. Money aside, it becomes clear they've got a lot in common - will Tyrone bag a date?

Elsewhere, Chris makes a move on Cheryl, while Steve thanks Becky for her help behind the bar

Thursday

As Carla struggles to cope with the spectre of the lie, she's desperate to visit Stella, who is still fighting for her life. Frank insists that it's a bad idea, but when he's at work, she heads to the hospital.

Karl refuses to let her see Stella, claiming that Frank's done enough damage. Full of guilt, Carla breaks down. But as Peter comforts her, will she reveal the truth about who was driving the car?

Meanwhile, Cheryl and Chris are awkward around each other after his pass. Chris offers to move out, but thinking it's because of him, a guilty Lloyd insists he stays. Chris reluctantly agrees, but when Lloyd reveals he's got tickets for a gig to surprise Cheryl that night, will Chris mess up his plan?

Elsewhere, Marcus is gutted as Sean reveals that Violet is ready to have Dylan back, while Tommy wonders whether to come clean with Tyrone.

Friday

When Karl accuses Frank of sending Carla to do his dirty work, he's shocked to hear that she went to the hospital. He confronts Carla, who cracks, claiming that the weight of the lie is getting to her. Frank's aghast as Carla admits that she told Peter she was the one driving the car. Furious, he claims that if Peter tells the police, they both face jail.

Carla reasons that she never asked Frank to do this for her, but he insists he had to as he loves her. Wondering if he enjoys holding this over her, Carla starts to worry about their relationship. Frank pleads with Peter to back up his lie to protect Carla. But when the police come calling, will an under-pressure Peter tell them the truth?

Meanwhile, as Sean and Marcus spend their last day with Dylan, it's tinged with sadness as they don't know when they'll see him again. Marcus vows to help Sean through it, but when Maria flippantly suggests they should have a baby of their own, Marcus starts thinking.

Elsewhere, Steve confronts the Barlows and vows that he's calling the police to get Amy home, while Lloyd is forced to comfort Cheryl as she breaks down over Chris's illness.

Becky isn't enjoying watching Steve suffer after losing Amy, despite the way they lost Max, so she offers some words of comfort. At the same time, the Barlows are relieved when Tracy and Amy arrive home.

Ken and Deirdre presume that Tracy got their messages about Steve calling the police. But when Tracy refuses to talk to Steve, they're stunned. Deirdre pushes it until Tracy snaps - she's pregnant with Steve's baby!

Meanwhile, as the police question Peter and Leanne about the night of the crash, Peter's torn between protecting Carla and revealing the truth. At the same time, Frank is taken to the police station to make a statement. Will he be charged or will their attentions be turned to Carla?

Elsewhere, Marcus tells Sean that they should adopt after they say goodbye to Dylan, while Chris is pleased by Cheryl's reaction when she catches him chatting to Maria.

Coronation Street businessman Frank Foster does some quick thinking in tonight's episode of the soap, going all-out to protect fiancé Carla Connor in the aftermath of her destructive car crash.

After making sure that seriously-injured Stella (Michelle Collins) gets the help she needs, Frank secretly moves unconscious Carla (Alison King) into the passenger seat to ensure that she can't be blamed for the incident.

As news of the crash spreads, Frank (Andrew Lancel) tells everyone that he was behind the wheel and that Stella came out from nowhere. Soon afterwards, Stella and Carla are both rushed to hospital.

Later, as Stella's family hear that she may need life-saving surgery, Frank is called to give his statement to the police. Will he carry on with his plan to take the rap for Carla?

Coronation Street airs tonight at 9pm on ITV1.
