It does justice to the character. Kat used to get upt to all sorts in her time. Always good to have a character with some humor. But HIV is never a nice discovery.
Over on EastEnders, there's not long to wait until the soap airs its special week of episodes set in Southend - which feature a reunion for Dot and her sister Rose.
When Dot heads off to the seaside resort in search of her sibling, she's surprised to discover that Rose is living in an expensive-looking house.
As the pair get chatting, Rose gloats to Dot while showing her a picture of her rich husband who has since passed away. Things soon turn sour and the pair start bickering, but Dot declares that she doesn't want an argument and decides to leave.
Later, though, Dot has a change of heart and pays another visit to her sister's home. However, as she arrives, she discovers that all is not what it seems with Rose…
A Walford insider commented: "Dot goes in search of her sister looking to mend their broken relationship. She is surprised to see how well Rose appears to be doing for herself. But when Dot arrives back later, she is shocked to discover that her sister hasn't been telling the truth."
EASTENDER Fatboy is thumped by pimp Rob as he tries to protect frightened Whitney.
Clash ... Fatboy
The clash comes after Rob tracks Whitney (Shona McGarty) to Southend, where she fled with Fatboy.
Fatboy (Ricky Norwood), tries to shield her but Rob (Jody Latham) attacks.
A source said: "Fatboy, wanting to be her knight in shining armour, confronts Rob, but Rob lashes out." The episode airs on Thursday August 25.
Mon 22nd
Whitney visits the park to meet up for a date with Lee as planned, but when she gets there, she's stunned to find Rob waiting for her. Rob is soon back to his old tricks as he tries to manipulate Whitney, telling her that he's come to apologise and say goodbye as he's heading back to Manchester because his mother is dying. He also tells Whitney that he loves her - knowing that it's the best way to get her on side. However, when Whitney tries to text Lee, she receives a shock as Rob's phone beeps. Realising that she's been set up, Whitney lies to Rob by telling him that she'll go with him - before frantically trying to make her escape.
Meanwhile, Dot returns from a hospital visit with Fatboy and hears about Heather's planned trip to Southend with Shirley for the '80s convention. Talk between Dot and Fatboy soon turns to the list that Dot has drawn up of things she wants to do before she dies. Not wanting to have any regrets, Dot asks Fatboy to take her to Southend to see her estranged sister Rose. Shirley isn't pleased to hear that the pair will be joining them for the journey, but they soon have another tag-along on their hands as Whitney jumps in front of the car and asks to come too - without revealing what has happened with Rob.
Shirley is suspicious that Heather hasn't told her everything about the trip and her fears are confirmed when they arrive in Southend and she learns that the '80s convention is for gay couples. Unhappy that Heather has lied to her, Shirley storms off, and Heather soon faces a further setback when the event co-ordinator tells her that she can't come in alone as it's against the rules. To Heather's relief, though, Shirley later returns - not wanting to let her friend down. At the same time, Dot tracks down Rose at a social club but leaves without speaking to her.
Elsewhere in Southend, Whitney finally confides in Fatboy about the latest developments with Rob. Although Fatboy wants her to phone the police, Whitney rejects the suggestion - claiming that Rob is gone for good. However, there's trouble ahead as Rob has arrived in Southend to find her…
Tues 23rd
Whitney visits the Southend fairground with Fatboy but realises her nightmare with Rob is not over when he starts calling her. Answering her phone, Whitney tells Rob to leave her alone, but he hears the noise of the fairground in the background and soon tracks her down. Rob tries to manipulate Whitney further by claiming that she will never be accepted by future boys, but he's interrupted when Fatboy spots him trying to coerce Whitney into his car. Whitney and Fatboy head off together, but Whitney soon receives a call from an unknown number and when Fatboy answers, he hears that Phil's Jag has been damaged. Fatboy heads off to sort out the car situation, while Whitney goes back to her hotel room. When there's a knock on the door, Whitney thinks that Fatboy has returned - but she comes face-to-face with Rob when she opens the door…
Meanwhile, Dot decides that she still wants to see her sister and returns to the social club just as Rose is leaving. Dot then follows Rose back to an impressive-looking house and as they're reunited, Rose explains how she had a rich husband who has since died. However, the pair soon begin to bicker over the fact that Rose stole Dot's husband Charlie. Not wanting to argue, Dot decides to leave and makes plans to return to Walford. However, she spots a doll in her bag that she had intended to give to Rose and heads back to the house. However, when she does, she learns that Rose has lied and does not live there. She then goes to Rose's real home - a dingy flat - and confronts her sister.
Back in Walford, Kim wakes up in a skip and Denise, Patrick and Ryan are horrified by her appearance when they see her. They all think Kim must have been attacked, but Patrick later sees CCTV footage of Kim drunkenly stumbling around the Minute Mart and helping herself to alcohol. Denise is angry with Kim for not correcting their assumption that she'd been attacked, but when they're alone, Kim tells her what's really going on - she's distraught after an ex got in touch to tell her that he has HIV.
Elsewhere, on her trip with Shirley, Heather has met a man named Andrew but she's unaware that he likes her. As Shirley doesn't like the look of Andrew, she continually scuppers his attempts to get close to Heather.
Thur 25th
Whitney is horrified as Rob forces his way into her hotel room. However, as Rob's manipulations continue and he tells her how much he loves her, Whitney starts to fall for his 'charms' all over again - even when she discovers that he lied about his mum being ill and he damaged Phil's car himself to distract Fatboy. When Fatboy finally arrives back, he confronts Rob - who shows his true colours by viciously attacking Fatboy. Horrified, Whitney orders Rob to leave and asks Fatboy to call Ryan as she wants her brother. When Ryan arrives in Southend, he goes looking for Rob and tracks him down at the pier. Whitney realises Ryan's intentions and rushes off to find him. When she does, she witnesses the climax to a dramatic fight between the two men as Ryan tries to push Rob off the pier. However, Rob doesn't let go and both men crash into the sea…
Meanwhile, Rose admits her lies to Dot before taking her off to an amusement arcade. Dot quickly realises that Rose has a habit of illegal gambling on fruit machines, but she is desperate to reach out to her sister and goes against her beliefs by helping Rose to gamble. Although there's still resentment between the pair, the ice begins to melt as Rose tells Dot that she always wanted to be her sister. Dot then invites Rose to dinner.
At the same time, Heather finally realises that Andrew likes her and gets angry when she realises that Shirley knew this all along and said nothing. Keen to make amends, Shirley arranges for Andrew to take Heather out for dinner. Later, Dot and Rose arrive at the same restaurant and there's a surprise in store as it becomes clear that Rose is Andrew's mother. Dot is confused as she wonders how Andrew fits into Rose's backstory and why she didn't mention him earlier. The foursome all end up sitting down for a meal together, but things turn sour as Rose belittles her son and he fires back by telling her what he really thinks of her. Heather is not impressed with the way Andrew speaks to his mother and soon leaves him alone.
Elsewhere, Denise and Kim have a heart-to-heart over relationships and how they've always been jealous of aspects of the other's personality. A scared Kim finally agrees to take a HIV test and is relieved when it comes back negative.
