Most boring and unrealistic soap storyline ever - Max and Tanya! Has she forgotten she buried him alive in the woods, once upon a time - what an uplifting story of true love - NOT!! Look up the word "depressing" in a current dictionary - the definition is "Eastenders".

"Meanwhile, Billy is down on his luck and things get worse when he loses his job"

That's a novel storyline!

Over on EastEnders, Tanya's romantic dilemma will soon come to a head - before her world is turned upside down by some heartbreaking news.

After weeks of juggling her marriage to Greg and secret affair with Max, Tanya finally decides that it's Max who she wants to be with and the pair prepare to tell their families the truth.

However, before Tanya gets a chance to end her relationship with Greg, she receives some earth-shattering information from local doctor Yusef - she's had some abnormal smear test results and may well have cancer.

As the shocking news sinks in, Tanya arranges to meet Max - but what will she tell him and will she still go ahead with their original plan?

A Walford insider commented: "Tanya finally feels like she knows what she wants, but when Dr Yusef speaks to her, her whole world is thrown into turmoil and it makes her question everything again. What will she do?"

Mon 8th

Max is at The Vic with Vanessa at lunchtime, but he isn't happy to be there at the same time as Tanya and Greg, who are with Abi and busy planning their next holiday to Mexico. When Vanessa tries to turn the conversation topic to their upcoming honeymoon, an irritable Max storms out - leaving poor Vanessa close to tears. When Tanya joins him outside shortly afterwards, Max declares his love for her and they head down an alleyway together.

Back inside the pub, Greg and Abi finish their lunch and wonder where Tanya has got to. As the pair exit The Vic, Vanessa decides to go too and leaves an angry voicemail on Max's phone. None of them see Tanya and Max as they're out of sight down the alleyway, but as the cheating pair share a passionate embrace, the back door of the pub opens. Someone has caught them together - but who?

Meanwhile, when Michael turns up at The Vic to collect a delivery of live eels, Jean lets some intriguing news slip - telling him that Eddie has been strangely angry over some letters which have arrived from Chingford. At lunchtime, Jean gets chatting to Norman and it's obvious that she likes him, which makes him feel awkward. When Jean decides to make him the perfect pie for lunch, she does so at the expense of the other customers as their orders are delayed. Jean is later crushed when she spots Pat flirting with Norman after all of her efforts to impress him.

Elsewhere, Jack apologises to Kat over everything that happened and she allows him to see baby Tommy; Carol accuses Eddie of gossiping about her when it becomes clear that half of Walford knows about their night-time antics, but he adamantly denies telling anyone; Lola's social worker assures Billy that Julie's departure shouldn't affect his chances of keeping her; while Kat complains to Alfie that they no longer have any intimate time together and soon realises that, despite seeming to have everything she's ever wanted, she's still not happy.

Max and Tanya see each other at the café and arrange to meet up at lunchtime, but they're unaware that Jack is watching from the corner - hearing every word. Later, as Max prepares for Tanya's arrival by preparing a romantic setting, Jack turns up and confronts him - ordering his brother to be careful or he'll end up alone like him. However, spiteful Max tells Jack that his loneliness is all his own fault, leaving him furious. When Tanya turns up as planned, Jack turns on her - telling her that her behaviour means she's no better than Stacey. As Jack leaves, Tanya appears to have taken heed of his words - telling Max that they need to end their affair.

Later, Tanya, Greg and Lauren head to The Vic to celebrate as Lauren has just passed her driving test. Max is also there but walks out, unable to watch the happy scene. However, as he sits alone at the car lot, Tanya makes a surprise appearance and declares her love for him. Promising Max that she wants to be with him, she explains that they can tell everyone tomorrow…

Meanwhile, Kat has lost patience over the absence of her sofa and orders Eddie to return it today or give her £1,000 for a new one. However, Eddie soon discovers that Tyler sold the sofa to a woman for £200 - all to get her phone number. Eddie orders him to get it back immediately and the sofa is later returned to The Vic. Kat is happy to have it back but can't help wishing she'd got the cash instead.

Elsewhere, Billy has taken on Julie's cleaning job at The Vic but Kat sacks him when he fails to turn up on time; Ian gives Lola a trial run when she offers to attract teenage boys to the café in exchange for a job; while Billy's day improves when he discovers that he's been chosen as an Olympic torchbearer.

Tanya is still planning to come clean over her decision to be with Max, but things become awkward when Greg announces that he's bought Lauren a car in celebration of her passing her driving test. Tanya reacts angrily to his revelation - saying that if anyone should be buying Lauren a car, it's her. Later, Max pays a visit to Tanya at the salon, and they arrange to meet up at the bedsit for a drink together to calm their nerves before they tell their families that they're an item.

At the same time, Vanessa is panicking as she's lost her engagement ring and fears this could be a bad omen. Jodie and Poppy arrive as she frantically searches for the ring, and the ditzy pair start encouraging Vanessa to set a date for the wedding - saying she should get married on the same day as Jodie. Soon afterwards, Jodie informs Darren that she's setting the wedding date, but Darren tells Max that he's secretly worried as he can't afford it yet. When Max assures him that everything will be okay, Darren wrongly assumes that he's promising to foot the bill and assures Jodie that she can have anything she wants for the wedding.

Later, Tanya's plans to meet up with Max are delayed when Cora calls her and explains that Oscar has hurt himself. Tanya meets her mum and son at the surgery, but soon has bigger things to worry about when Yusef calls her in. Yusef asks her whether she's received a letter from the health service, and Tanya admits that she has the letter with her in her bag but hadn't opened it as she thought it wouldn't be important. When Yusef urges her to open the letter immediately, she reads the shocking news that she has abnormal smear test results. Tanya is then forced to come to terms with the fact that she may have cancer…

Meanwhile, Kat is looking for ways to cheer Jean up and suggests that she should get Norman's attention by starting a campaign to save the community centre. Jean launches the campaign later that day and starts delegating roles to interested parties. She suggests that she and Norman should work together to organise an event, but Pat instructs her to concentrate on catering while she and Norman do the planning. Keen not to give up, Jean suggests that they should organise a fete, where Norman could do his "Pearly King" act and she could be his queen. However, Jean receives another setback when Norman declares that Pat is already his queen.

It's decision time for Tanya Jessop in tonight's climactic edition of EastEnders as she makes her life-changing choice.

After receiving the worrying news from Yusef about her smear test results, it's clear that Tanya (Jo Joyner) has been provided with cause to question everything she has planned with Max and where her future should lie.

Heading to meet Max (Jake Wood) at the bedsit, it's time for Tanya to put an end to her romantic dilemma - will she decide to be with him or stay with Greg (Stefan Booth)?

Full details about tonight's episode are being kept strictly under wraps, but show bosses have lined up an explosive climax to Tanya's affair storyline that's not to be missed…

and one that will rock the Square
