EastEnders' wideboy Mickey Miller is stabbed and kicked to the ground by the Albert Square mugger in a forthcoming episode of the soap.

Mickey, played by Joe Swash, gets several wounds when he is attacked in the square by the hooded robber, but luckily escapes serious injury, the Daily Star reports.

He is the third victim of the Walford mugger, whose crime spree starts tonight with an attack at knifepoint on driving instructor Derrick Harkinson, played by Ian Lavender.

Stacey Slater, played by Lacey Turner, then claims she has been attacked too - but in fact she is just trying to cover up the fact that she has stolen the MinuteMart's takings.

After the attack on Mickey, which had to be hastily written into the script after actor Joe broke his hand, Albert Square residents begin to worry that soon someone could be killed

Never SoapRach, never! :)

When i showed my little sister this about Mickey yesterday, she screamed and said "oh my god, he doesn't die does he, no not Mickey", she loves him! So i sat there and explained to her that because the actor who plays him has a broken arm in real life the script writters rewrote the story so that Mickey ended up with a broken arm! She gave me a weird look and said "yeah alright, i only wanted to know if he was gonna die or not!" Cheeky cow! :D

Yeah he was - that storyline died a death though when he moved into the Fowlers place and started working on the stall and at the community centre.

I agree - wonder how him and Kareena will break up? Hope she doesn't just take off without hardly saying goodbye or anything! Maybe he won't like her attitude to the drugs - he didn't agree with Tariq and Juley after all.

Former EastEnders star Joe Swash is returning to the soap, it has been confirmed.

The actor, who was axed as Mickey Miller in 2008 after five years on the show, will return next week to film two episodes involving on-screen brother Darren's wedding to Jodie Gold.

"Typically, Mickey arrives back for Darren's wedding but he's more interested in giving his little brother a proper knees-up to celebrate his last night as a bachelor," a source told the Daily Star Sunday.

"He's pleased to see some of his old mates but when he finds out what they've planned for Darren's stag do he realises he has to take control as it's pretty dire.

"Luckily for Darren, big brother Mickey makes sure he gets one hell of a send-off before his big day."

Earlier this year, it was announced that actor Charlie G. Hawkins, who plays Darren, would be leaving EastEnders.

Swash recently signed up to star in new ITV2 game show Minute to Win It with Caroline Flack.

Joe Swash has described his return to EastEnders as "interesting".

The actor, who was axed as Mickey Miller in 2008 after five years on the show, has agreed to film two special episodes for the soap to commemorate on-screen brother Darren's wedding to Jodie Gold.

Swash told PA: "I went back to EastEnders a couple of weeks ago to do some episodes, which was interesting and nice. Basically I head back for Darren's leaving storyline, but I can't say much more than that. I'm sorry - I'd tell you if I could!"

Last month, Swash said of Mickey's return to the Square: "He's pleased to see some of his old mates but when he finds out what they've planned for Darren's stag do he realises he has to take control as it's pretty dire. Luckily for Darren, big brother Mickey makes sure he gets one hell of a send-off before his big day."

Charlie G Hawkins, who plays Darren, said earlier this year that he has "enjoyed [his] time at EastEnders immensely" and thanked the show's team for their "tremendous support".

Kylie Babbington has previously confirmed that she will be staying on in her role as Jodie.

Joe Swash has admitted that EastEnders 'still has a bit of his heart'.

The 31-year-old played Mickey Miller on the BBC soap between 2003 and 2008 and reprised the role for two episodes in 2011.

He is set to host the behind-the-scenes show at this weekend's British Soap Awards alongside Zoe Hardman.

Swash admitted to Star magazine that he does get nervous working as a presenter in front of his former cast mates.

"I really do! They're my peers and it's where I started," he admitted. "I want to do a good job in front of them."

He also said that a "little bit" of him misses his days as a soap star, although he enjoys being a presenter.

"There's such good morale on set with everyone. There's no real rivalry - it's like being part of a massive team. But I do like what I'm doing now," he explained.

Swash hasn't accepted any acting roles since leaving EastEnders and has focused on presenting. However, he said that the idea of starring in a comedy might tempt him back.

He admitted that he will be cheering on his former show at Saturday's (May 18) awards ceremony, confessing: "EastEnders still has a bit of my heart."

However, he said that he can't call it between EastEnders and rival Coronation Street for the 'Best Soap' prize.

"Coronation Street has had a massive year, too. It's always tight between EastEnders or Corrie, so we'll see," Swash added.

The British Soap Awards 2013 air on Sunday (May 19) at 8pm on ITV. Swash will co-host The British Soap Awards 2013: The Party at 10pm on ITV2

and once again, the works dried up!

Not surprised as Mickey has been busy presenting on ITV2 oh I mean Joe no wait Mickey!

Its a shame they axed the Bill cause he would have fitted in perfectly. Maybe try an acting school or drama lessons.

I can't see a place for Mickey in Walford any more because all of his family have left. He was introduced by himself, but I think once a character brought in like that has been given a family, it is very difficult to go back. They can bring him back to write Poppy out though. Not keen on her :p

Joe Swash has revealed that he would "definitely" return to the BBC soap, adding that Gillian Taylforth's recent return as Kathy Beale has given him hope.

The actor and presenter played Mickey Miller from 2003 to 2008, before making a brief appearance in 2011 when the character returned for his brother Darren's wedding.

Speaking to The Sun, he said: "I've got a really good relationship with EastEnders. I am up there quite a lot. I will definitely go back one day.

"I loved playing Mickey Miller and if Kathy Beale can come back from the dead, that always gives us other actors hope.

"Sometimes characters run out of storylines and they like to move you on."

Following his departure from EastEnders, Swash was crowned winner of I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here! and has hosted its spinoff show on ITV2 since.

This is not the first time Swash has spoken about a return to EastEnders. Earlier this year he revealed how he left the show on good terms and would welcome the opportunity to return.
