Coronation Street's troubled ex-soldier Gary Windass suffers a fresh meltdown later this month after his fears for girlfriend Izzy Armstrong cause him to spiral out of control.

After Izzy is mugged by yobs at a cash point, an unstable Gary vows that he will never let her come to harm again - still haunted by the fact that he was unable to help his tragic army friend Quinny in Afghanistan.

Izzy's wheelchair was damaged in the attack but when it's ready to be picked up from the repair shop, Gary decides not to hand it over to his partner and instead keeps it locked in his van.

When Izzy realises that something is amiss, she confronts Gary but is stunned when he refuses to let her leave the flat - claiming it's too dangerous. The feisty factory worker tries to reason with her boyfriend but soon becomes deeply disturbed as she realises that she's a prisoner in her own home.

With the situation escalating and Gary losing his grip on reality, Izzy's father Owen comes to the door and hears her screaming for help. Can he rescue her and will Gary get the help that he needs?

These scenes air on Monday, July 25 at 8.30pm on ITV1.

25th July

Gary collects Izzy's wheelchair from the repair shop but keeps it locked inside his van. Already on edge, he's thrown to find Anna at the flat and when he realises she's told Izzy about his attack on Sean, he angrily throws her out.

Unnerved by his behaviour and with no news of her wheelchair, Izzy calls the shop. But when she hears it was collected earlier she confronts Gary. Losing his grip on reality, how will Gary react?

Meanwhile, when Tracy overhears the Croppers discussing a postcard from Becky, she pumps Sylvia for more details. In the pub, Tracy wastes no time in filling Steve in on what she's learned about Becky's new man.

Elsewhere, old friends rally round a demoralised Ken after Deirdre fails to get through to him, while Julie offers to help Sean out by taking Dylan to a pre-school reading group.

As Gary refuses to let Izzy leave the flat, he puts a positive spin on them spending time together - but this only disturbs Izzy more. She tries to reason with him, but Gary's firm as he insists that he can only protect her if he knows where she is - he won't let her down like Quinny.

Izzy's scared now and when Owen comes to the door, she cries for help. Will Owen get to Izzy as Gary breaks down?

Meawhile, when Julie arrives at the reading group and is mistaken for Dylan's mum, she fails to correct people. However when the person taking the class arrives - Brian - Julie's desperate to disentangle herself. Will Julie get the chance to explain or has she ruined her chances with Brian again?

Elsewhere, Tracy invites a heartbroken Steve round for tea and tells Deirdre that she's going to get her man, while Dennis and Rita attempt to jolt Ken from his torpor.

28th July

Steve's turned down Tracy's offer of tea as he's still wallowing. But when he sees a sun-kissed Becky arrive home, confirming she's moved on and so should he, it's another bitter blow for Steve who finds himself on Tracy's doorstep.

Steve enjoys the family atmosphere and with Amy in bed, he agrees to a glass of wine with Tracy. As they discuss their failed relationships, both agree Amy is the most important thing in their lives. The barriers falling, will Steve succumb to Tracy?

Meanwhile, as Doctor Carter recommends Gary needs psychiatric help, all he can think about is seeing Izzy. After work, she calls at the Windasses where Gary begs for forgiveness, accepting he needs professional help. Will Izzy stand by her man?

Elsewhere, Brian makes a fresh start with Julie after revealing that he's no longer with his wife, while Marc asks Audrey to accompany him to an LGBT charity event where he's speaking as Marcia.

29th

s Steve tries to sneak out of Number 1, Tracy insists he stay for breakfast, excited that she's got her man. However, Steve's not quite as keen and when Tracy asks if this means they're an item, he hedges.

Alone with Lloyd, Steve insists it was a one-off and no-one needs to know, but when Becky hears Amy talking about Steve spending the night, she heads to the pub to confront him. As her stories about her new boyfriend are all a front, Becky is devastated. How will Steve react?

Meanwhile, Owen has been Anna's rock as she prepares a wary Gary for his first psychiatric appointment. Knowing she needs a distraction, Owen books cinema tickets for her and Faye. Touched, Anna invites him along too - will Owen accept?

Elsewhere, Tommy sweet-talks Amber into agreeing to a drink; a nervous Audrey agrees to accompany Marc to the LGBT event; while Amber swears Sophie to secrecy as she reveals some shocking news.

Tracy's devastated as Steve lets rip at her, believing she told Becky about them sleeping together. With all hope of a reconciliation gone, she tells Deirdre she's moving to London immediately.

Stunned, Deirdre tells a horrified Steve the truth. He races round to Number 1 to find Tracy and Amy getting into a cab. Will he be in time to stop her, or has Steve lost them both for good?

Meanwhile, Audrey's moved as she listens to Marc speak about his alternative sexuality. It's clear it meant a lot to Marc too, but as they enjoy a drink in town, two men start heckling Marcia. Will Audrey be able to handle their taunts?

Elsewhere, Amber's furious when Dev insists that he wants her home from her date with Tommy by 11pm, while Anna and Owen grow closer following their night at the cinema.

Coronation Street's troubled Gary Windass leaves girlfriend Izzy Armstrong terrified as his behaviour takes a disturbing new twist in tonight's double bill of the soap.

Following Izzy's mugging ordeal, Gary takes his partner's wheelchair away to be repaired but soon steps up his control by refusing to hand it over once it's fixed, leaving Izzy a prisoner in her own home.

Soon afterwards, Gary shocks the feisty factory worker by claiming that it's too dangerous for her to leave the house again, before declaring that he plans to look after her all the time from now on.

Speaking in a recent interview with Digital Spy, Mikey North - who plays Gary - explained: "I think what we're seeing is Gary's post-traumatic stress coming back to the fore… At first, I think [Izzy] can sense that something's not quite right, but she doesn't want to overreact in case it makes the situation worse.

"She tries to get Gary to calm down and just goes along with it, but then things spiral too far out of control…"

Coronation Street's Tracy Barlow decides to flee to London after Steve McDonald leaves her heartbroken in tonight's double bill of the soap.

As the pair wake up from their night of passion, it's clear that Steve (Simon Gregson) regrets falling into Tracy's arms - and he soon starts trying to let her down gently by insisting that he's not ready for another relationship.

Later, Steve learns that Becky is aware of his night with Tracy (Kate Ford) and immediately assumes that the scheming Barlow has been boasting to her. Not realising that Amy was responsible for spilling the beans, Steve launches a vicious verbal attack on Tracy which devastates her.

Deciding that there's nothing keeping her in Weatherfield following Steve's rejection, Tracy books train tickets for her and Amy and makes plans to leave for London that night. Can Steve stop her from leaving?
