A few people have complained about Mrs. Fowler. Not just on our message board but on several across the internet. So I thought I'd start a poll so we can see how many people think she should go.

Pauline is a vital character for EE. You have to have a mix of old and young and grumpy is part of her character make up. There is loads of EE history behind her giving scope for story lines based on old happenings. I agree she needs to be part of a better
storyline though.

Hiya!!!!!
She Does Really Annoy Me,As She Moans All The Time,And She Was Quite Selfish With The Whole /Chloe/Rebecca/ Storyline,But She Has Been In EastEndeRs Since The Very Beginning,And I Think That Albert Sqaure Might Not Be The Same Without Her,So I Say,Give Her Another Chance!!!!!

Love

i think now is the time to go what more can they do with her the way that she is going all she is there for is to be a burden to martin and sonia and have a moan with dot she doesnt really even interact with the ather characters anymore apart from ian (and this week sharron and dennis) i think she should go but in a memorable way that wil do credit to wendy as an actress who dedicated so many years to eastenders and have a massive impact on sonia and martin

I really would hate to see her go. I can identify with her as I remember her from the 80's.

20-06-2005, 14:52
I thought her friendship with Derek made good viewing, especially when they talked of old times... but then she focused soully on Martin and to Martin comes Chloe hence her downfall, Derek shouldn't have been axed! :thumbsdow

Luna
20-06-2005, 14:56
I dont know - Sometimes she really gets on my nerves so much i'm shouting at the screen and i can feel the rage building inside of me but then other times i feel really sorry for her like when she had to say goodbye to Chole

Treacle
20-06-2005, 15:06
She has the power to evoke so many different emotions.

Luna
20-06-2005, 15:12
It's so sad but i am actually screaming at the tv and i always get really angry i think it might because she reminds me of my gran and the wy my gran can always say just the right thing to get me arguing with her....i'm the same with blanch (sp) in corrie

20-06-2005, 15:14
although pauline is one of them characters you hate she is good in the show

Treacle
20-06-2005, 15:16
I think they should behead her though so she can't speak but let her body stay.

Luna

LOL. I'm evil though but that's what I'd do.

Luna
20-06-2005, 15:28
I'll hold her you can swing the axe :ninja:

BlackKat
20-06-2005, 16:02
Hm..as long as the word 'Chloe' never passes her lips again, I may be prepared to give her another chance. She's never been my favourite character, but I'd never hated her until that storyline. So...I'm torn.

lilnick
20-06-2005, 16:09
OK Derek turned out to be gay but why not give her a new relationship or at least a decent storyline of her own. It would be interesting to see the identity of Micheles
son, Mark come out when Grant returns and how she would react.

Treacle
20-06-2005, 16:16
That's always been a loose end that needs tying up.

20-06-2005, 16:26
I can just picture her on the execution block "Oh err if only ARFUR were here he would know what to do!!!" :-)

Treacle
20-06-2005, 16:48
LOL. You gotta love old Arfur, his mental breakdown was great.

Richie_lecturer
20-06-2005, 17:26
If Arthur had any sense, he would have harpooned his pitchfork straight into Pauline Fowler's chest. "Ooohh Arrrffffuuurrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!"

Treacle
20-06-2005, 17:36
Didn't she clobber him with a frying pan lol? :D Genuis!

Luna
20-06-2005, 17:38
lol yeah i think so when she found out he was having an affair

Treacle
20-06-2005, 17:39
That was fabulous.

Luna
20-06-2005, 17:42
Wonder what she'll say when her ikkle dog thingy was used to kill den lol

Since when has Kat Slater been a murder weapon?

Treacle
20-06-2005, 17:43
Kat Slater doesn't belong to Pauline Fowler though, does she?

Richie_lecturer
20-06-2005, 17:45
Well if Charlie gets any fatter there'll be no more room at the inn at the Slaters, so she may have to share lodgings with the Walford Witch.

Luna
20-06-2005, 17:45
Since when has Kat Slater been a murder weapon?

Good one though :rotfl:

Treacle
20-06-2005, 17:51
Charlie has always been that size since he joined and the Slaters can get a new bedroom out of the cupboard and set it up like a tent lol :D

Richie_lecturer
20-06-2005, 17:54
Ah yes, the ever magically contracting and expanding Slater house. :hmm:

Treacle
20-06-2005, 17:58
It's a tardis!!!

Luna
20-06-2005, 17:59

Yeah shes been there since the beginning, we need to keep oldies such as dot, pauline, ian and sharon, even if they are a pain!

I think she should disappear, but still be there coming out to give digs at Dennis, as that is so funny .

why would you want to keep pauline for she never shuts up.

Bryan
21-06-2005, 18:43
why would you want to keep pauline for she never shuts up.

she is legendary, she has been there since day one, and eastenders without pauline (regardless of how annoying she is) is not eastenders.

bondboffin

lildevil
21-06-2005, 18:49
but it would be eastenders without pauline cause they've got other story lines going on so it really wouldn't matter if she went off or slowly and painfully die.

but it woild be eastenders without pauline cause they've got other story line sgoning on so it really wouldn't matter if she went off or slowly and painfully die.

if you've been wathcing eastenders for years you'd understand why pauline is important to the show

bondbofin

Luna
21-06-2005, 18:52
Not that important i dont think - send her off to live with michelle i say...

Oh BTW bondboffin congrats on making 1000 :)

21-06-2005, 18:55
i'm not sure about her, she is really annoying but then she is a staple of the show!! what to do what to do???????

Treacle
21-06-2005, 22:21
My concern is the younger people who are saying get rid of her don't appreciate her importance to the show.

Jade
21-06-2005, 22:25
Yep but we cant get rid of her!! she is a core character in the show. I reckon some people would just have Dennis, Sharon, Chrissie, the Moon Brothers and Dot and Jim!!!

BlackKat
21-06-2005, 22:30
I reckon some people would just have Dennis, Sharon, Chrissie, the Moon Brothers and Dot and Jim!!!

I'm sure that isn't true. We'd have Ruby and Stacey as well. :p

I agree though, I don't think we could get rid of Pauline. It would feel a bit wrong, she has been there since the beginning, even if she's annoying me at the moment.

willow
21-06-2005, 22:33
My concern is the younger people who are saying get rid of her don't appreciate her importance to the show.

i know what you mean, she is like one of the matriachs(is that the right word????) of the show, its just like saying get rid of dot!!! it would not be right!!

i have had a good think about this since my last post!!

Jade
21-06-2005, 22:34
She is a pain in the behind but Wendy Richards (think thats her name) is such a good actress and I think Pauline has alot more storylines in her!!!

Wish she would leave Sonia and Martin to it, but really they should just move out!!

Treacle
22-06-2005, 03:44
They have a joint mortgage though :)

I'm afraid all we'd be left with is a limited cast if some people here had their say who stays and who goes lol.

Bryan

she needs to realise that martin is a grown lad, and doesnt need her constant support

she needs to stop infering in his life and focus on making something of her own... then people may begin to like pauline once more

bondboffin

Jade
22-06-2005, 11:36

Yea but they knew what they were getting themselves into before hand

22-06-2005, 11:39
I'm confused... didn't they move into Dot and Jim's once all the Chloe stuff came to light?

Luna
22-06-2005, 11:42
Yes but only to teach pauline a lesson i think Derek ended up there too

Bryan
22-06-2005, 11:42
I'm confused... didn't they move into Dot and Jim's once all the Chloe stuff came to light?

that was temporary just because of the anomositiy between them all, they've all made up following the final goodbye (well as made up as sonia and pauline ever will be)

Luna
22-06-2005, 11:43
Has derek left yet? If so where did he go and how did i miss it lol

stapler
22-06-2005, 11:44
Oh, I do know this bit! Lol. Pauline apologised for driving him out for disagreeing with her and asked if he would like to move in again, but he said his son was putting him up.

Did they ever explain how a few of the others went... Juley?

Luna
22-06-2005, 11:46
Oh right.......so nothing major then? they should have given him a big ending storyline.
I liked derek

stapler
22-06-2005, 11:47
Yeah, I thought he was a class actor and didn't have the chance to prove himself... I reckond they should have given him a proper stoyline like developed his relationship with his kids and grandson a bit more as opposed to 'You've accepted me on Christmas Day1 Brilliant now let's never talk of each other again.'

Luna
22-06-2005, 11:48

i think derek's only purpose in the show was as a replacement for arthur in martin's teen years

martin needed a father figure to give him advice and bail him out of problems (helping on the stall, and taking the blame for the cannabis)

now that martin is a mature adult there was no need for derek so thats why he went

bondboffin

Luna
22-06-2005, 11:55
yes but we still need him to put pauline straight and keep her in line

stapler
22-06-2005, 11:56
No, but there was - there was a lot of scope for him regarding his past... that dude he fell in love with and his children. He missed them growing up but has a grandson to correct it (kind of like Den's ideal situation if say Sharon/Dennis were to have a kid) but they ignored all that.

Bryan

his was never a "main" character and i doubt eastenders had any intentions of making him one

kinda sad, but that's soaps for you...

Well it seemed like a good deal at the time I suppose although I must admit I wouldn't be getting a mortgage with her if I was Martin and Sonia.

I just realised - while Sharon and Dennis are staying at Pauline's, we've seen them talking to Pauline but never to Martin and Sonia. It's like they've just disappeared though I think they were in the pub at one point.

Treacle
23-06-2005, 01:07
Well to be fair we haven't seen them in the house that much and Martin and Sonia have been around.
