EastEnders couple Tamwar and Afia celebrate a happy occasion as the day of the Mehndi arrives later this month, but the simmering tension between Masood and Yusef could cast a shadow over the heartwarming event.

As everyone gets ready for the procession around Albert Square, friends and family come out in force to show their support for the young couple, but Masood has been banned from attending.

Once the procession gets under way, a hurt Masood watches on from a distance and is furious when he spots Yusef put his arm around Tamwar's shoulder. Additionally, the fact that Christian has been invited and he hasn't only makes the situation more exasperating for the frustrated father.

Unable to keep a lid on his feelings for any longer, Masood decides to turn up to the Mehndi uninvited. As tensions rise following his arrival, will Tamwar and Afia be forced to reveal that they're already married?

A Walford source commented: "Tamwar is feeling upset knowing that his father won't be there, but he puts on a brave face and the happy couple are joined by their friends and family for the procession.

"Yusef does everything he can to make Masood feel left out, and Masood later decides that he can't stand back and watch his family join with Yusef's. He then decides to go to the Mehndi with disastrous consequences…"

EastEnders character Zainab will be wrongly accused of having an affair Yusef Khan, it has been reported.

Yusef will tell Zainab that he wants to be with her while at Tamwar and Afia's mehndi ceremony. His sister-in-law Shameem overhears and announces to the congregation that they are having an affair, causing Masood to punch Yusef.

"The whole day turns into a disaster. When Shameem sees Yusef and Zainab together she automatically thinks they're having an affair," a source said. "Everyone struggles to come to terms with what they have just heard.

"But not Masood. He sees red and punches Yusef. [Yusef's girlfriend] Denise is stunned by the news and confronts Zainab but she denies everything and flees the ceremony.

"Afia is devastated and demands answers from her dad Yusef. He assures her it is all lies before leaving to find Zainab. It's one hell of a fall-out."

Tamwar and Afia's wedding airs a week on Tuesday on BBC1.

20th
Tamwar and Afia have some final discussions with Zainab and Yusef over the wedding and when Tamwar mentions that he wants his father to be at the ceremony, Zainab concedes that it would raise more questions if he wasn't present. Tamwar also wants Syed to be there, so Yusef later invites Syed and Christian to the wedding - promising that it's not like the engagement party and they're actually welcome this time. However, when Yusef explains that the invite is under the condition that Syed doesn't talk about being gay or planning the adoption, he refuses to attend. Tamwar pays a visit to Syed and begs him to change his mind, and there's a further twist in store later when Zainab sees Syed and personally invites him and Christian.

As the day continues, Yusef manipulates Afia into asking Tamwar to ban Masood from the wedding. When Afia tells Tamwar that she's scared of Masood, it seems that Yusef's plan has worked. Tamwar pays a visit to his dad and gives him a Fathers' Day card, but warns that he's not welcome at the wedding due to the way he's been acting. Not long afterwards, Masood spots Yusef on the Square and shouts that he plans to stop the wedding…

Meanwhile, Greg invites Max, Vanessa, Lauren and Abi over for a Fathers' Day barbecue. However, Tanya feels uncomfortable with having Max around. As the pair have a moment alone, Max brings up what happened between them the other night. Tanya insists that it was a mistake, but the sexual tension between the pair continues to sizzle.

Elsewhere, Eddie gives Michael some boxing tickets, but Michael rejects the gesture and tells his father that he should stop pretending to be a nice guy, while Billy goes to stay with Julie at the B&B and leaves her stunned by revealing that he wants to track down their son.

21st

It's the day of the Mehndi and Zainab has explained Masood's absence by telling everyone that he's flown off to Pakistan due to a family emergency. When she bumps into Masood on the Square, she informs him of the cover story and warns him to keep a low profile so nobody finds out it's a lie. Masood tries yet again to warn Zainab that Yusef is dangerous, but she refuses to listen. Over at the B&B, Yusef's sister-in-law Shameem is not pleased to hear that Yusef is dating Denise when she's been married three times already. It's not long before the two women are arguing.

As the procession gets under way on the Square, Masood watches on from a distance and is furious to see Yusef put his arm around Tamwar's shoulder, as well as the fact that Christian has been invited and he hasn't. Soon afterwards, when Ian taunts Masood at The Vic for being shut out of the family occasion, Masood realises he needs to take drastic action. At the Mehndi, Yusef tells Zainab that he still has feelings for her and wants to know if she feels the same way. At that moment, Masood bursts in and says that he forbids Tamwar from marrying Afia. As everyone starts arguing, Tamwar admits that it's too late - he and Afia are already man and wife…

Meanwhile, Eddie and Liam strike up a bond as they continue to work on the fruit machine. Carol soon discovers that Liam has lied about being unwell just so he can work on the project and she isn't happy. However, she comes to realise that Eddie is just as lonely as Liam, who's missing his dad. Carol thanks Eddie for making the effort with Liam and as they chat further, Eddie kisses her.

Elsewhere, Phil's phone goes off while he's having lunch with Shirley - it's Rainie, who explains that she needs him. Phil cuts the lunch short and finds Rainie at The Vic, where she's ordered a drink. Phil vows to help Rainie, but he's unaware that Shirley has entered the pub and is watching everything. Shirley realises that Rainie is the 'guy' that Phil has been sponsoring and is furious over his lies.

23rd

Zainab, Yusef and Masood are appalled following Tamwar's confession that he and Afia are already married. Syed tries to defend his brother and reveals that he already knew the truth. When the girls' dance ends, Afia joins the warring group and she gets emotional as she discovers that Tamwar has confessed. Zainab and Masood try to blame each other for what has happened, while Yusef brushes off Denise when she tries to talk to him, claiming that he doesn't need her help with his daughter.

Tamwar soon reveals the truth about the previous wedding to everyone else at the Mehndi, prompting Yusef to announce his consent and pleasure at the marriage. Tamwar and Masood also reconcile, with each apologising for their actions. At the same time, Yusef's attentions turn back to Zainab as he tells her that he wants to be with her. They share a moment, but it all gets too much for Zainab and she rushes off. However, Shameem has been watching and has seen everything.

Wasting little time before making a scene, Shameem announces to the guests at the Mehndi that Yusef and Zainab have been having an affair. Everyone is left stunned by the claim and a furious Masood punches Yusef. Denise also confronts Zainab, who denies everything before fleeing. Yusef tracks down Zainab shortly afterwards and assures her that he'll sort out the situation. At the same time, Tamwar opens up an envelope from Yusef and discovers a cheque for £10,000 inside, while Yusef meets his cousin Tariq outside on the Square and a heated conversation between the pair follows - but why?

Elsewhere, Shirley is still furious over Phil's arrangement with Rainie, but he asks his partner to trust him. However, Shirley makes it clear to Phil that she can't trust him, even when he explains that it's just a case of him and Rainie being able to understand each other due to their shared experiences. Shirley is soon left to wonder whether she'll ever be able to trust Phil.

24th

Zainab wakes up from a sleeping pill-induced sleep and starts worrying about the night before. She's startled when she realises that Yusef slept in her house last night and makes it clear to him that they can't be friends. At the same time, Kim has been gossiping at the B&B over the alleged affair between Yusef and Zainab, prompting Denise to head out looking for answers. When Denise spots Yusef leaving Zainab's house, she's shocked and confronts him. The pair then have an argument at the café and Denise finally realises that Yusef was never that serious about their relationship.

Later, Zainab tries to make things right with Masood and invites him to come back home for a family meal, but he doesn't give her an answer over what he intends to do. She then goes to see Tamwar and Afia, who are staying at Max's house, to invite them to the lunch - but they're also non-committal about attending. In the afternoon, Zainab receives a visit from Yusef, who wants to say goodbye. Suddenly, the doorbell rings again as Masood, Tamwar and Afia have all arrived for the family meal. Zainab pushes Yusef out via the back door before inviting in her family, but the atmosphere between them all remains awkward.

Meanwhile, a mischievous Max spots Greg coming out of the Minute Mart with breakfast supplies and advises him that Tanya likes exotic fruit in the mornings. Greg goes off to find some, so Max takes the opportunity to pay a visit to Tanya in his absence. Tanya soon realises that she doesn't want Max to leave and when Greg returns home, she makes an excuse for him to pop out again. With Greg gone, Max and Tanya begin to kiss…

Elsewhere, Shirley receives a shock when Phil tells her that he's bought her the café, and Billy leaves Julie thrilled when he tells her that he's found them a new home - a squat on George Street.

EastEnders star Steve John Shepherd has confirmed that his character Michael Moon will want to get even with Ronnie Branning when she rejects him in a forthcoming storyline.

Fans of the BBC soap are about to see Michael become increasingly obsessed with Ronnie, believing that they share a bond as they both have turbulent family histories.

However, in an EastEnders episode airing next month, Michael tries to kiss Ronnie (Samantha Womack) and is left furious when she makes it clear that she's not interested.

"She says she's with Jack and that if he comes near her again, she will kill him," Shepherd told Soaplife. "It's not the reaction he was expecting and that feeling of rejection takes him back to his childhood. Michael's a person who wants to win in every situation and he's angry Ronnie has turned him down."

As previously reported, Michael is expected to start telling lies about Ronnie to Kat and Alfie Moon, whose baby she snatched on New Year's Eve. As part of the vengeful plan, he even tries to convince the pair that Ronnie wants to steal Tommy again.

"He's not making rational decisions," Shepherd continued. "He just wants revenge and isn't thinking of the consequences."

The actor added that Michael may come to regret his behaviour further down the line.

"Remorse is something that comes later," he said. "Michael will be working out what he feels over the coming weeks. It goes on for a while."
