Four Coronation Street stars have today been tipped to leave the soap at the end of their current contracts.

Holly Quin-Ankrah, Will Thorp and Finton Flynn - who play Gray trio Cheryl, Chris and Russ - are among the cast members bowing out and they will all finish filming with the Weatherfield drama towards the end of the year, according to reports in The People and the News of the World today.

Meanwhile, Sacha Parkinson - better known as Sophie Webster's girlfriend Sian Powers - will reportedly depart the cobbles in early 2012.

The decision to write out all four characters was apparently confirmed at a recent Corrie storyline conference, where upcoming plot developments were mapped out by the soap's team.

In a forthcoming twist, estranged couple Cheryl and Chris are expected to reunite and leave the Street with son Russ, causing heartbreak for their new partners Lloyd Mullaney and Maria Connor.

Sian has also been tipped for heartache before her departure as The People claims that Sophie is to embark on a new relationship with Dev Alahan's daughter Amber, who is returning to the programme.

In the story, Amber is expected to return home from university and it soon becomes clear that she has been questioning her sexuality.

Craig Charles, who plays Lloyd, will also disappear from Corrie later this year, but only on a temporary basis as bosses have granted him three months off to film new episodes of Red Dwarf. His Weatherfield commitments will continue as usual once he has reprised his role as Dave Lister for the project.

Coronation Street actress Sacha Parkinson has predicted that filming her final scenes for the soap will be an emotional experience.

Last month, it was revealed that the actress will be bowing out of Weatherfield at the end of her current contract, meaning that Sian's final scenes will air in early 2012.

Speaking about her forthcoming departure, Parkinson told Star magazine: "I'll be an absolute mess! I'll be crying my eyes out.

"But I'm looking forward to that feeling you have as an actress where you go out and audition again. It's exciting!"

She added: "I got loads of support on Twitter about leaving - it made me cry!"

Meanwhile, Brooke Vincent - who plays Sian's girlfriend Sophie Webster - admitted that it will be strange when she no longer has to film kissing scenes with Parkinson.

"It's normal now, I can't imagine not doing that any more," she said.

Gray trio Cheryl, Chris and Russ are also thought to be leaving Coronation Street later this year.

Sacha Parkinson has revealed that, despite a few nerves, she is excited about her career after she leaves Coronation Street later this year.

The actress plays Sian Powers in the soap, and decided to quit earlier this year. She told the Daily Star that she is expecting her final scenes with Brooke Vincent, who plays Powers'
lesbian girlfriend Sophie Webster, to be emotional.

She said: "Sophie and Sian are so strong that something is going to have to happen to break them up.

"I've been told they'll be leaving the door open for me but you never know for sure what's going to happen. I mean, Sophie could bump Sian off – you really don't know.

She added that she plans to "make the most" of her final months on the show, and that she is proud to have been part of Coronation Street history.

"I've still got five months left and a lot can happen from now until then. I'm definitely going to make the most of the next few months, even though I expect it to go really quickly. I can't even think about my final scenes without getting upset.

"It's amazing to have been part of Corrie history as one half of the soap's first ever lesbian couple but after nearly three years on the Street I knew the time was right to move on."

Parkinson explained that while she will be upset to leave, she felt it was the right time to do so.

"I didn't want to get to the stage where I stayed for years and years and then they asked me to leave – I would have hated that. I'm already feeling nervous and scared about getting back out there but at least it was my decision.

"It's going to be hard going to auditions again but there is a part of me that is excited about it all. I've got a lot to look forward to."

Brooke Vincent and Parkinson recently admitted that they often "argue like sisters".

Co-star Kym Marsh spoke of her "shock" upon hearing about Parkinson's upcoming exit.

Coronation Street character Chris Gray will reportedly leave the Street after developing a brain tumour.

The builder is played by Will Thorp, whose exit from the ITV1 soap was reported last month.

Chris will be told it's too late for surgery and dump girlfriend Maria Connor (Samia Smith) to get back with Cheryl (Holly Quin-Ankrah), the News of the World reports.

He tells his girlfriend: "I'm sorry Maria but I'm dying. I have to handle this my way. I can't do that whilst we're together."

Cheryl decides to nurse Chris when he sobs: "Why me? I'm too young to die." They then leave Weatherfield for good with their son Russ (Finton Flynn).

A Corrie insider said: "It will be a sad end for Samia and Will, who have grown very close since we paired them up - but dating your on-screen lover is a lot of added pressure."

Thorp and Smith have been dating in real life since January.

Coronation Street star Will Thorp has insisted that he is feeling "fine" over his forthcoming departure from the soap, promising a big exit for his character.

Back in May, it was revealed that the actor's alter ego Chris Gray will leave the cobbles later this year, bowing out alongside his ex Cheryl (Holly Quin-Ankrah) and son Russ (Finton Flynn).

Chris will be diagnosed with a brain tumour in an upcoming storyline and it is thought that subsequent scenes will see him growing close to Cheryl again before they bid farewell to Weatherfield together.

Speaking of his departure, Thorp told All About Soap: "I'm absolutely fine with it - I've had a brilliant time and have loved playing Chris. It's been great to have a character who came in with a bang and is set to leave with one as well."

Meanwhile, discussing the illness plotline, he explained: "They tell Chris he has a very large tumour and the size of it means they can't operate. They suggest radiotherapy and try to reduce the size so they can then potentially operate. The future is looking very bleak for Chris at the moment."

After confiding in Cheryl about his illness and splitting from Maria, Chris is surprised when Lloyd lets him move in so he can be closer to his son.

Asked whether Chris's condition remains a secret to everyone else on the cobbles, Thorp replied: "No - Lloyd tells Karl and he tells everyone in The Rovers. Chris is very proud and doesn't want any pity. He tries to put off telling little Russ for as long as possible, but he knows something is wrong and so Cheryl decides they need to talk to him."

Chris's illness storyline comes to the forefront in next week's Coronation Street episodes.

Coronation Street star Craig Charles has hinted that his character Lloyd Mullaney will live to regret welcoming Chris Gray into his home in a forthcoming storyline.

Lloyd makes the shock decision later this week while under pressure from his girlfriend Cheryl (Holly Quin-Ankrah), who is keen to support her ex after learning that he is suffering from a brain tumour.

Although Chris is initially sceptical, he soon takes up the opportunity because he wants to be closer to his former partner and their son Russ during his time of need.

Charles told Coronation Street's official website of his alter ego's surprise gesture: "Lloyd's right in the middle - he can't be seen to be this horrible man. He's trying to get Cheryl to love and respect him, and yet he can't stand the fella. He's caught right in the middle."

He continued: "Lloyd's moved into Number 13, Coronation Street. 13 doesn't look like it's going to be a lucky number for Lloyd, I tell you!"

Meanwhile, Will Thorp - who plays Chris - confirmed that the builder's illness will spark changes for his relationship with Cheryl.

"Chris's relationship with Cheryl naturally develops and they do start to become closer again," Thorp explained. "She's just by his side and kind of being his best friend. And Chris, out of everyone, is very happy for Cheryl to take that place in his life."

Back in May, unconfirmed reports suggested that Chris, Cheryl and Russ will all depart the street together later this year, leaving Lloyd heartbroken.

No big loss as far as I'm concerned. Glad to hear that Amber is coming back. Not sure of the rumoured storyline though a new Lesbian Lover for Sawfie Webster

The steamy plot will see Sophie Webster break girlfriend Sian Powers' heart by cheating with bisexual Amber Kalirai. It will kick-off in October, with Sophie succumbing to the advances of shopkeeper Dev Alahan's daughter.
But afterwards, guilt-ridden Sophie will ask Sian to marry her in a Christmas civil partnership. Sophie and Amber's affair will start on a night out while Sian is on holiday, when the pair share a kiss.
Amber, played by 21-year-old Nikki Patel, has planned a move on Sophie for weeks and the two go out a few times as pals. And to get her way One she spikes Sophie's drink with gin. Then later that night, while Sophie - played by Brooke Vincent - is being chatted up by a confident Jack the Lad, Amber seizes her chance.
She steps in between them and tells the fella she's her girlfriend. And as the stunned bloke looks on, Amber pulls Sophie close and tenderly kisses her.
Sozzled Sophie's first reaction is to pull away but then she leans back towards Amber and the two snog passionately.
On the way home in a taxi, Sophie is overcome with guilt. But when they arrive back, she kisses Amber goodnight. As the pair part, Sophie is already smitten.
At first, guilty Sophie is keen to make amends and asks Sian to marry her.

Betrayed ... Sian and Sophie

But as the Christmas ceremony draws closer she will realise it's Amber she wants and will dramatically call off the nuptials.
A Corrie insider told TV Biz: "It's all going to get very messy indeed.
"Sophie will be split about Sian and Amber - but it will be her feelings for Amber that will win the day.
"Sian will be devastated and will end up leaving Weatherfield for good."
It was revealed in May that Sacha Parkinson, 19, who has played Sian since 2009, would quit Corrie with her last scenes screened in early 2012.

Coronation Street star Holly Quin-Ankrah has revealed that the soap will air a shock fire plot in the coming weeks.

The actress announced the news on This Morning today, confirming that the blaze will tie in with the forthcoming departure of her character Cheryl Gray.

Cheryl is currently in a relationship with Weatherfield cabbie Lloyd Mullaney (Craig Charles), but her old spark with former partner Chris Gray (Will Thorp) has recently been reignited following his brain tumour diagnosis.

Earlier this year, it emerged that Cheryl, Chris and their son Russ will all be written out of the show as the storyline reaches its conclusion.

Teasing Cheryl's departure, Quin-Ankrah commented: "It's not too predictable. It might not be exactly how you expect it to be.

"There is a fire - it's dramatic! Something goes on fire - that's quite exciting."

Quin-Ankrah added that Cheryl will not be killed off in the blaze, leaving the door open for a possible return.

Reflecting on her time at Coronation Street, she continued: "It's been amazing. It's been an amazing experience, I've been really happy there. [I've been there] for 20 months, just under two years, and it's been fab.

"When I started, you don't know long you're staying. You think you're going to be there six months and that's it, so it's lovely."

Rival soap EastEnders has also been tipped to air a fire storyline before the end of the year.

Coronation Street star Sacha Parkinson has reflected on her decision to leave the soap, confirming that she is "excited" over what the future may hold.

The actress bows out from her role as Sian Powers on the show later this year as her character's relationship with Sophie Webster (Brooke Vincent) comes to an end.

Parkinson told PA of her forthcoming departure: "I'm very sad but I'm very excited. I'm in two minds, I don't know whether I'll regret my decision or not but as it's come closer I know it's what I need to do.

"But it's a sad place to leave because everyone's like a family and everyone's so close."

She added: "But I only live round the corner so I'll be popping in every day."

Parkinson's plans to leave Coronation Street first emerged back in May. Reports have since revealed that her exit occurs in the climax of a love triangle storyline featuring Sian, Sophie and Amber (Nikki Patel).

Coronation Street star Will Thorp has admitted that he is shocked by the way his character Chris Gray is lying about his health.

Chris has been receiving treatment for a brain tumour in recent weeks, but has since started pretending that his prognosis is poor in a bid to win back his ex-partner Cheryl (Holly Quin-Ankrah). In reality, the builder has been told that the signs are looking good for his recovery.

Thorp told Soaplife of his alter ego's scheming: "I think it's horrendous. His behaviour is totally disgusting. But Chris lies so easily he doesn't really consider it to be a bad thing. And if the lie leads to him and Cheryl getting back together, so be it."

He continued: "Chris's brain tumour has strangely united Chris and Cheryl. She has been his main support throughout his illness, right from the first diagnosis really. It has brought his family back together again.

"Chris, Cheryl and Russ are all getting along well and Chris doesn't want to jeopardise that by revealing that his tumour is responding well and that his prognosis is now positive."

However, things start to go wrong for Chris in a forthcoming episode when Cheryl insists on joining him as he receives his next set of test results.

Thorp added: "He panics. Whether he gets away with his lies and gets what he wants - Cheryl - remains to be seen. He knows that if the truth is revealed, he risks losing her."

Coronation Street star Will Thorp has revealed that viewers are often concerned for his character rather than angry at him.

The actor, who plays Chris Gray in the ITV1 soap, admitted that he is surprised by the public reaction to his character's decision to exaggerate the seriousness of his brain tumour.

According to Inside Soap, Thorp said: "I've not had any bad experiences with angry viewers.

"Most of the comments I get are from builders who feel Chris is just like them - he's one of the lads as far as they're concerned."

He added: "At times Chris comes across as pure evil. His behaviour is totally disgusting - it's horrendous."

The soap star has previously confessed his shock at Chris pretending that his cancer prognosis is poor in a bid to win back his ex-partner Cheryl (Holly Quin-Ankrah).

Thorp, who is dating co-star Samia Smith, leaves the soap later this year. He has said that his character will leave with a bang.

Coronation Street star Will Thorp has warned that the tension between his character Chris Gray and Lloyd Mullaney could soon come to a head.

Chris is currently holding out hope for a reunion with his ex-partner Cheryl (Holly Quin-Ankrah), who is now in a relationship with Lloyd. In a twisted plan, the builder has been exaggerating the seriousness of his brain tumour in order to win her back.

Coronation Street viewers see Chris have a heart-to-heart with Cheryl later this week as he tells her that he wishes things were like they used to be.

Thorp told Take It Easy of the scenes: "[Cheryl] is touched by this. It really is not ideal for them to be apart when they have a son together. The idea of being a family is appealing to her."

Asked whether Chris's antics could lead to a "massive showdown" with Lloyd (Craig Charles), the actor replied: "Yes, I think so. There has been this simmering tension between the pair bubbling away for some time now, and I think there is only one way to resolve it - and it isn't going to be pretty."

Cheryl, Chris and their son Russ will all bow out of Coronation Street later this year as the current storyline reaches its conclusion.

Thorp added: "I will miss playing Chris. He's such fun to play and I have really enjoyed playing a Northerner."

Coronation Street star Will Thorp has said that he is looking forward to new projects as viewers await the climax of his character Chris Gray's current storyline.

Chris is due to bow out from the cobbles later this year as his love triangle plot with Cheryl Gray and Lloyd Mullaney (Craig Charles) reaches its conclusion.

Speaking on Lorraine this morning, Thorp explained that he is keen to keep spicing up his career with a variety of roles.

"I haven't got a clue what I'm doing next. It's scary, but it's the charm of being an actor," Thorp commented. "I'm an actor that likes to play different parts.

"That's why Chris has been great. It's been great to be a Northerner and horrible - I'm not horrible in real life! So we'll see what's next."

Chris's current storyline sees him lying about his condition after being diagnosed with a brain tumour. Although doctors have informed him that he is on the road to recovery, Chris is pretending to still be seriously ill in a twisted plot to win back ex-partner Cheryl (Holly Quin-Ankrah).

Thorp said: "He came in as a wife-beating angry man. He has changed - he's been on a journey. We've seen that he has got a heart and he can be loyal. But unfortunately a leopard doesn't always change its spots, and we see that with Chris."

Asked whether Chris could get his comeuppance before he leaves, the actor replied: "Absolutely. He's been a very naughty boy and needs a slap!"

Coronation Street continues tonight at 8.30pm on ITV1.

Coronation Street's Holly Quin-Ankrah reveals to Soaplife how Cheryl finds out Chris has been faking it - and how that dramatically changes her bedside manner!

Chris has wormed his way back into Cheryl's life by claiming he's a dying man - even though he now knows he's not. And when Cheryl finds out he's living one big fat lie she wants him out of her life all over again. "She's in a state of utter disbelief that Chris could sink so low," Holly tells Soaplife. "She's lost everything and made a huge mistake." A mistake she can't put right.

So has Cheryl fallen for Chris all over again or does she feel sorry for him?
"She loved Chris in the past and seeing a softer side to him is bringing up old feelings. It's like when they first met and married... It's passionate, fun and exciting and they're getting on really well."

But he used to beat her!
"When his tumour was diagnosed one of the side effects mentioned was mood swings, so maybe she's thinking his violence was due to the tumour."

How did she feel when Chris told Lloyd they're having an affair?
"Mortified. She loves Lloyd - even though she's being unfaithful - and doesn't want to hurt him. It was like a car crash taking place in front of her eyes."

We know Lloyd goes ballistic and knocks Chris out...
"Yes and Cheryl's terrified. Seeing Chris out cold scares her. She's really angry at Lloyd, but he's worried, too, and hopes he hasn't made Chris's condition worse."

Chris is rushed to hospital and the smelly stuff hits the fan, doesn't it?
"Cheryl finds out Chris has been lying to her. The doctor tells her the tumour has been shrinking and he should make a full recovery. Cheryl is shocked. She's pledged her future to Chris based on his illness and it's all been a huge lie. She's devastated and realises what a lowlife he really is. What's really appalling is that Chris has lied to their son Russ and that's unforgivable."

What happens with Lloyd?
"Cheryl begs him to take her back so she can pick up the pieces of her shattered life. She's always loved him and she's trying to get back what she's lost. I know she's upset Lloyd, but she was deceived, too, and now she's left with no one."

We know you're leaving Coronation Street, so what does that mean for Cheryl's future?
"If Lloyd won't take her back then Weatherfield has nothing for her and she'd look at making a fresh start somewhere else. It's a shame she's hurt Lloyd so badly because he really didn't deserve that."

Coronation Street fans threw a leaving party for Sacha Parkinson outside the show's set, it has been reported.

It was announced in May that the actress, who plays Sian Powers, would be leaving the ITV1 soap in early 2012.

She filmed her final scenes for Coronation Street last week and was met by fans outside Granada Studios in Manchester, where a surprise party was held.

Parkinson was joined by her on-screen girlfriend Brooke Vincent, who plays Sophie Webster, The Sun reports..

She was said to be overwhelmed as fans gave her gold balloons that spelled her name alongside a cake and other gifts.

Speaking of her exit, Parkinson recently admitted that she has mixed feelings about leaving Coronation Street.

"I'm very sad but I'm very excited," she said. "I'm in two minds, I don't know whether I'll regret my decision or not but as it's come closer I know it's what I need to do.

Sacha Parkinson has revealed that she found filming her final scenes with best friend Brooke Vincent both difficult and easy last month.

The Coronation Street actress - who will leave her role as Sian Powers at the end of her contract in early 2012 - filmed her last scenes with her on-screen girlfriend and real-life best friend Brooke Vincent, who plays Sophie Webster.

She revealed to the Manchester Evening News that because of the pair's genuine sadness for her exit, it made filming the scenes much easier to act out.

"The last scenes were actually easier because both myself and Brooke had to be so upset for them," she said. "It was hard for us as people, but easy to play out the emotions because we were so upset ourselves!"

Parkinson added that while she is looking forward to life after Coronation Street, she is currently not looking beyond Christmas due to other commitments.

"I'm really excited about the future, but it won't feel real until after Christmas as I'm still tied to a lot of media work with Corrie up until then," she said.

"Everything breaks up for Christmas and after that I'll start to think about what will be next career-wise."

Coronation Street star Sacha Parkinson became tearful during a TV appearance today as she spoke fondly about her time with the soap.

The actress recently filmed her final scenes as Sian Powers, who will soon bow out from Weatherfield as her relationship with Sophie Webster (Brooke Vincent) comes to an end. In real life, meanwhile, the 19-year-old left the cobbles of her own accord to pursue new projects.

Parkinson shed tears on This Morning at lunchtime today as she was shown a montage of Sophie and Sian's long journey together.

Discussing her Coronation Street exit, she later commented: "It's just really exciting, to be honest, just going back to auditioning. I'm not scared - maybe in a few months if I don't get anything, I will be!

"It was just something that I had to do. I was so comfortable there that I could have stayed there for the next 50 years. I'm looking for anything that's interesting - just something different and something to get my teeth into."

Coronation Street fans will see Sophie and Sian's wedding day arrive at the end of next week. The episodes have been tipped to show a rollercoaster of emotions for the pair.

Parkinson added: "The last two episodes are around one day. It's not just them getting to the church and it all goes bad. It's happy again, then it's down again, then it's happy again - it goes up and down about three times, and then it's the end."

Coronation Street continues on Thursday at 8.30pm on ITV1.
