Comic Ben Miller has been announced as the host of the 2011 TV Choice Awards.

The Armstrong & Miller and Primeval star will front the ceremony, which takes place at London's Savoy on Tuesday, September 13. Miller has hosted the show twice before.

It is the 15th year for the awards show, which celebrates the magazine's favourite stars and programmes. Daz will sponsor the event, while the beneficiary charity is Cash For Kids.

Fans can cast their votes for their favourite shows until June 10. A shortlist will then be announced and voting will reopen.

Winners at last year's TVChoice Awards included Gordon Ramsay for 'Best Food Show', Lacey Turner for 'Best Soap Actress' and Britain's Got Talent, which won the 'Best Talent Show' gong.

EastEnders has picked up three prizes at the TV Choice Awards 2011.

The BBC drama beat off competition from Coronation Street, Emmerdale and Hollyoaks to be named 'Best Soap', while show favourites Jessie Wallace and Shane Richie also secured gongs.

Wallace, who plays Kat Moon, triumphed over Emmerdale star Pauline Quirke and Coronation Street's Katherine Kelly and Michelle Keegan in the 'Best Soap Actress' category.

Meanwhile, her screen husband Richie (Alfie Moon) won the 'Best Soap Actor' prize. Coronation Street's Simon Gregson, Emmerdale's Danny Miller and Hollyoaks' Emmett Scanlan had also been nominated in the category.

Coronation Street also secured recognition as the 50th anniversary tram crash disaster was voted the 'Best Soap Storyline'.

Additionally, Weatherfield's new recruit Paula Lane (Kylie Platt) was named 'Best Soap Newcomer'.

The TV Choice Awards 2011 were hosted by Ben Miller and took place tonight at a ceremony in London.

I can't believe Downton Abbey didn't win, and there are far better actors in soap than Jessie Wallace and Shane Richie.

Best Daytime Show
BBC Breakfast (BBC1)
The Jeremy Kyle Show (ITV1) - WINNER!
Loose Women (ITV1)
This Morning (ITV1)

I think this explains all about the type of person who voted for Wallace and Ritchie along with the terminally depressing Deadenders as best soap.

I cannot believe Jeremy Kyle show has won. I would not give it air time. Absolute RUBBISH show. The Wright show on 5 a lot better TV.
