View Full Version : Tyler and Anthony Moon
EastEnders bosses have today announced the casting of soap newcomers Tony Discipline and Matt Lapinskas as two new Moon brothers.
Following months of speculation surrounding the latest additions to the popular soap family, producers have confirmed that siblings Tyler and Anthony Moon will be joining Albert Square later this year - hot on the heels of their father Eddie, played by David Essex.
Youngest brother Tyler will be first to arrive in Walford when he turns up looking for his dad. Billed as a "bloke's bloke" who lives for the weekend, Tyler loves having a good time with his friends but often ends up in trouble, particularly when it comes to the ladies.
Anthony, who joins the Square shortly after Tyler, shares some personality traits with his brother - but viewers will soon see that while Tyler has a short fuse, Anthony is far more calm and collected in times of trouble.
A Walford source revealed: "Where Tyler is quick to use his fist to sort things out, Anthony will rely on his brains and natural wit to find a more sensitive solution to any conflict. The two new Moons are a couple of likely lads who are more than likely to cause a stir in Albert Square."
Speaking of his casting as Tyler, Discipline commented: "It's really exciting to be able to work on a show that you have grown up watching and have followed your whole life. I am very grateful to be given this opportunity and am looking forward to working on the show and becoming an East-Ender!"
Meanwhile, Lapinskas said of his new role as Anthony: "I'm absolutely over the moon! It's has been my lifetime ambition to be on EastEnders - I have watched it growing up with my nan, who is a big fan. I'm so pleased to get my first TV role, I just didn't believe it would be so big. I've met some of the cast I will be working with who were very friendly and welcoming and I can't wait to start filming."
EastEnders' executive producer Bryan Kirkwood added: "Both Tony and Matt are fabulous additions to the show. Headed up by David Essex, the Moon clan are on their way to becoming an established family in the Square."
Eddie's other son Michael, played by Steve John Shepherd, is already a familiar face to EastEnders fans as he joined the soap last year.

MO Harris just can’t resist locking lips with Alfie Moon’s young cousin Tyler – leaving the poor lad squirming in horror.
The dark-haired hunk gives Alfie a hand behind the bar and comes up with an idea to drum up business for the Queen Vic.
Tyler starts to mix cocktails and decides to do a special two-for-one offer.
As he relays his money- making scheme to Alfie, he cheekily suggests he could even throw in a free kiss – which prompts Big Mo to pounce.
She gives the cocktails a miss and goes straight in for a full-on snog – leaving Tyler mortified. But Alfie is in absolute stitches and can’t resist poking fun at the poor lad.
He jokes that Mo could well be the one for him – winding Tyler up even more and leaving the smitten gran believing her luck may well be in.
An EastEnders insider told us: “Tyler is a hot young lad and he’s single.
“Big Mo really can’t believe her luck when he moves into the Queen Vic after turning up to see his dad Eddie. She
thinks he’s sex on legs and can’t resist giving him a big snog after he makes a comment about giving away free kisses to help boost business.
“But getting a kiss from someone like Mo is not what Tyler had in mind at all.
“He’s definitely got an eye for the ladies but he likes them to be around his own age – and they have to be pretty.
“Tyler is going to make quite an impact when he arrives in the square.
“He will immediately hit it off with one or two of the Walford babes.”
Followers of the hit BBC1 soap will be able to watch Tyler arrive in Albert Square to join his dad Eddie and brother Michael a week tomorrow.
Daily Star Sunday
EastEnders welcomes another new Moon arrival next week as soap newcomer Tony Discipline makes his debut in the role of Eddie's youngest son Tyler. Fun, flirtatious and full of energy, Tyler wastes little time before trying to get to know some of the ladies on Albert Square and he settles in well at the Queen Vic. Digital Spy recently chatted to Tony to hear all the gossip on Tyler's place in the family, the character's future and what viewers can expect when his screen brother Matt Lapinskas (Anthony) completes the group of new Moons later this year.
When did you first hear about the role of Tyler Moon?
"I first heard about the role of Tyler back in November of last year. My agent gave me a call, told me there was a part in EastEnders and gave me a little breakdown of the character. I thought that Tyler seemed like a fun, lively character to play and felt that I could add something to it, so I went up to audition for the part last November and returned two weeks later for a workshop."
What was the workshop like?
"Well, in the workshop, there were six Tylers and six Anthonys and they paired us up. Funnily enough, I got paired off with Matt Lapinskas straight away! I came back a month after that for a screen test, then came back for another screen test and got the part."
How did you get into acting in the first place?
"I didn't get into acting until after I left school. I started working for a theatre lighting company when I was 15 and still at school, and then when I left school I went into full employment with them. We used to go up and light shows, put mirrorballs up and stuff like that. That was when I started taking a real interest. We'd light all the shows and it was fun to watch the whole process and how it all came together. So after that I started doing little workshops and courses."
What happened next?
"I then got a job with BT as they offered me an apprenticeship and my mum thought that getting an apprenticeship behind me was the safe option. But I left after a year because I was interested in doing other things, including acting. I got a job down at Billingsgate Fish Market when I was 17 and I trained at the Actors Centre in London at the same time. I was doing that for a few years - training and working, and I started my own market stall as well. I then went out, did a few plays and got an agent, had a few auditions and auditioned for EastEnders. It's my first big role!"
How would you describe the character of Tyler?
"He's very sparky and very charismatic! He can be quick to snap at certain people sometimes if they get on the wrong side of him, but he's a lovely guy. He's also very flirty when it comes to the women! He's a bit of a chap to say the least! It's not because he's seedy or he's horrible or anything like that - he genuinely enjoys chatting to women and chasing them. Even if they turned him down, it's all part of the chase and that's fun for Tyler. You can expect a lot of flirting, a lot of girls and maybe some arguments. We shall see!"
How have you found joining such a massive show?
"To be honest, everyone has been so nice that it hasn't felt like a massive leap. Everyone has been so welcoming and helpful, so it really felt like I was part of the team straight away. Obviously at first it's really daunting and you can't get your head around it because it's a really surreal situation, but as soon as you get there and meet everyone, you're instantly made to feel like part of the family. It's really nice."
Is there anyone in particular who's supported you on set?
"Definitely. David Essex, who's playing my dad Eddie, has been fantastic. He's such a warm, genuine geezer - he's just lovely. Shane Richie has also been absolutely fantastic, and you'll find that there's quite a bit of Alfie in Tyler. He's got that spark and energy that Alfie has, I think. Steve McFadden has been absolutely brilliant. Obviously after having such success with the Mitchell brothers, Steve has been guiding me and Matt with a few tips. That's not to say that we're going to be anything like the Mitchell brothers, because we're the Moon brothers, but he has been giving us tips and advice and he's been great. And my mentor is Johnny Partridge, who plays Christian. He's fantastic too - if I have any problems, I can just ring him up and he's been giving me some great advice."
Tyler sets his sights on Jodie soon after he joins the Square, doesn't he?
"Yeah, Tyler turns up on the Square in his dad's flash car and Jodie is the first girl that he sees. I pull up to her and you see Tyler trying to chat her up straight away!"
Do Kat and Alfie give Tyler a warm welcome at The Vic?
"Yeah, they do! When I first turn up, there's a bit of a drama to start off with, but Alfie loves Tyler and then Kat pretty much warms to him straight away. It's a really nice warm feeling in the family."
What kind of a relationship does Tyler have with his half-brother Michael?
"That's an interesting question, because Tyler sees Michael as this figure who just turns up at Christmases or the odd birthday, and is just quiet in the corner and doesn't really acknowledge anyone. So Tyler just sees him as a bit strange, and Tyler's not the sort of character who will fight for his affection! I don't think Tyler really understands Michael, but at the same time, he's not bothered by it. He just thinks, 'OK, whatever - it is what it is'. But Michael resents Tyler slightly, I think. I can't comment on Michael's character, but I think Tyler is Eddie's favourite son and because of the fractured relationship between Michael and Eddie, there's resentment from Michael's side. Tyler sees Michael as his brother, but they're not close at all."
As Tyler is the favourite, does that cause any tension with Anthony?
"No, that's the difference - Tyler absolutely worships Anthony. Anthony is Tyler's older brother and he's always there for him. Tyler and Anthony love each other so much and they would do absolutely anything for each other. So there's no resentment there at all, it's just pure brotherly love. And you'll see that when Anthony comes on screen in a few weeks' time. There's a real chemistry between them, and me and Matt are great friends in real life. I think that transcends over onto the screen. They really care about each other and you couldn't separate them!"
Tyler ends up getting a soaking from three blonde sisters during his first week on the Square, doesn't he?
"That's right! Basically, the reason that Tyler is on the Square is that he's three-timed these three sisters! But that's the thing with Tyler - he didn't do it because he wanted to hurt any of them. He did it because he was with one sister, and then the other sisters were there and he doesn't think of the consequences - he just does it! Tyler gets away for a bit and visits Walford, but the sisters are out to get him and they find him! They slap him and pour a cocktail over his head."
Is Tyler the kind of guy who would get with a girl even if she already had another boyfriend?
"That's a tough one! I think he would, but it would get to the point where he'd say, 'Listen - enough's enough'. I think the initial fun of chasing the girl and getting the girl appeals to him, because he wouldn't think of the consequences at first. But maybe afterwards, he'd think differently and realise it would all be a bit too much."
You've been at EastEnders for a few weeks now, so who have you been sharing most of your screen time with?
"A lot of my time has been with the Moons - Alfie, Kat, Eddie - and Mo Harris too. So there's been a lot of scenes in The Vic. But you'll see a nice little relationship with Fatboy as well. I've had scenes with the other young characters, too - trying to chat up Jodie and a few of the other girls. You'll see quite a variation in his scenes."
Have EastEnders given you much room to put your own stamp on the character?
"Yeah, they've been absolutely amazing. They've given me the template of the character, but then we add the characterisation together - I put across my thoughts, and they put across their thoughts. We put all of that into the melting pot and came out with Tyler, really! We've been building and growing him ever since."
Could Tyler have any secrets or is he a straight-down-the-line character?
"He's more of a straight-down-the-line character. Tyler is what he is - he'll say what he thinks to your face, and he's got no hidden agenda."
Is it true that you've been a fan of EastEnders for a number of years?
"Yeah, it's an absolute institution. It's one of those programmes that's always on and always there. In my opinion, it's the greatest soap that's going. I've always enjoyed it since I was a little kid, so it's an absolute honour to be part of it and to be able to say that I'm in EastEnders!"
What do your friends and family think of you getting the role?
"They're absolutely 'over the moon'! (Laughs) They've been so supportive - all of my friends and family are behind me. All of my friends from the fish market and from my football team have been great. The support has just been endless."

Tammy honey didn't U know that the living quarters over the Vic and at Pat's are like the Tardis,, theres always room for a couple more LOL
I gotta admit most houses on TV soaps always seem to have big houses and room for lots of people. I wish my house was like that lol.
Who is living in the Slater house now since Mo is in the Vic?
EastEnders' new recruit Matt Lapinskas has revealed details of his character Anthony Moon's background, admitting that he worships his twisted half-brother Michael.
Anthony makes his first appearance in Walford at the beginning of next week, completing the trio of new Moons who have been cast in the BBC show.
In an interview with Inside Soap, Lapinskas teased the dynamic that viewers can expect between Anthony and Michael (Steve John Shepherd), who has stirred up Albert Square with his erratic behaviour over the past few months.
The actor explained: "Anthony just idolises him. When they were little, Michael corrupted Anthony into really looking up to him.
"The fact of the matter is that Michael has his own business and has all this money coming in, without having to worry about all the family politics, so Anthony's in awe of that. Also, Michael has this incredible confidence."
Asked whether Anthony has a good relationship with dad Eddie (David Essex), Lapinskas replied: "Yes, he does - and he wants to show his dad that he's the man to take over the [family] business. For Anthony, his main interest is the antiques emporium - forget the girls!
"That said, if he does take over from Eddie, then maybe there could be time for a lady in his life for once. There might be somebody new for him."
Anthony's brother Tyler, played by Tony Discipline, arrived in Walford at the end of June.
EastEnders newcomer Matt Lapinskas has admitted that joining the soap was a nerve-wracking experience.
The actor landed the role of Anthony Moon on the BBC show earlier this year and viewers will see the character's first appearance on screen next week.
In an interview with Soaplife, Lapinskas confirmed that he is "over the moon" about his new part as joining EastEnders is a "lifelong ambition".
However, asked whether he was nervous about taking on the job, he replied: "Very! As a young actor coming straight out of drama school, there's a lot of weight on your shoulders. I shot a couple of episodes of E20 before I started EastEnders so that broke me in.
"I'm lucky because Steve McFadden is my mentor and he's been showing me the ropes. He sat me down and told me all the dos and don'ts. Basically he said you have to behave and keep focused."
Lapinskas also revealed that he is planning to watch his first EastEnders episode with friends and family when it airs on Monday.
"We were going to hire out the local theatre and I invited about 100 people," he said. "But they can't get a live TV licence so it looks like I'm going to be inviting around 100 people to my house instead!"
Viewers have already been introduced to Anthony's father Eddie (David Essex) and brother Tyler (Tony Discipline).
EastEnders newcomer Matt Lapinskas has confirmed that his character Anthony Moon will be drawn into the feud between his dad Eddie and half-brother Michael when he joins Albert Square.
Anthony makes his first appearance on screen in Monday's episode of the BBC soap, completing the batch of new Moons who have descended on Walford.
Earlier this year, viewers discovered that Michael (Steve John Shepherd) has resented Eddie (David Essex) for years - blaming him for the death of his mother, who killed herself when he was a youngster.
Speaking to All About Soap about whether Anthony knows the truth about the dark incident, Lapinskas explained: "He doesn't - but he finds out as soon as he arrives in the Square. Jack and Michael have had a big fight - Jack beats Michael badly. So the first time Anthony sees Michael, he's got a big bruise on his face.
"Anthony's very shocked and wants to know what's going on, so he sits down with Michael and finds out all about how [she] really died. Eddie told the boys she'd died in a car crash, so this is all news to Anthony."
Asked how Anthony deals with the situation, the actor replied: "He's the peacemaker in the family, so he goes to see Eddie and forces him to talk to Michael. From there you see them come together - but it's not as simple as it looks and you find out later on what really happened."
Lapinskas also predicted that the new Moon arrivals will take no nonsense from the other residents of Walford, warning that there could be fireworks ahead.
"The Moons are so tight that nothing can really affect them, but if someone tries to mess them up or tries to divide them, then they'll sort you out," he said. "They're a friendly family, but you don't cross the Moons!"

EastEnders newcomer Tony Discipline has revealed that he would like to see how his character Tyler Moon would change in a serious relationship.
Tyler quickly developed a reputation as a womaniser upon his arrival in Albert Square in June, but he has so far shown little sign of wanting a long-term romance.
Speaking to Inside Soap about his alter ego's attempts to woo the women of Walford, Discipline commented: "Tyler hasn't got very far, has he? It'd be nice to see how he copes in a relationship and how he'd change from being this cheeky guy."
Asked how he feels about being branded a soap "hunk", the 22-year-old replied: "Oh gosh, well I get a bit of stick about it from my mates, especially when people come up to me in the street.
"Occasionally when you walk in somewhere, people can be like, 'Tyler Moon! Tyler Moon!', which my friends find hilarious. But I'm actually really flattered by it all."
Tyler will feature in a serious storyline next month when a mismatched boxing fight organised by his half-brother Michael (Steve John Shepherd) leaves him seriously injured.
"I'm a massive fan of boxing," Discipline added. "When they wrote that into the show, I was really happy."
Tyler was recently tipped to feature in a love triangle storyline alongside Whitney and Fatboy in the coming weeks.

So Anthony is 25 I thought he was younger
EastEnders newcomer Tony Discipline has revealed that he is pleased to have been paired up with co-star Shona McGarty for his latest storyline.
As reported last month, the actor's character Tyler Moon is to carry on pursuing McGarty's alter ego Whitney Dean in the coming weeks, causing a love triangle as Fatboy Chubb is also interested in her.
In an interview with New magazine, Discipline explained that he is excited to be working alongside McGarty, who has been with the soap since 2008.
He said: "It could be a lot worse! Shona's a lovely person and a great actress. And she's beautiful! There are loads of beautiful girls in EastEnders, aren't there?"
Tyler will feature in a more serious storyline next week as he ends up being seriously injured in a boxing match, as planned by his twisted half-brother Michael (Steve John Shepherd).
Viewers will see Tyler's loved ones learn that he has bleeding between his brain and his skull as he fights for life in hospital. In real life, Discipline has shaved off his hair for the plot.
Discussing his new look, the 22-year-old said: "I didn't mind, but it makes me look a lot younger. When I first had it done, I walked out of the make-up room and David Essex was p*ssing himself. He said, 'You look about ten years old, mate!'"
Discipline joined the cast of EastEnders earlier this year.
EastEnders' Eddie Moon finally shares his secret with Anthony and Tyler next week, telling them about Craig.
Following his recent decision to confide in Michael, the Walford businessman arranges a family meal in an attempt to be honest with everyone else.
Anthony (Matt Lapinskas) and Tyler (Tony Discipline) are stunned by the news that their father has a secret son and while Anthony quickly expresses a desire to meet him, Tyler is furious that Eddie (David Essex) has lied for so long and accuses him of being ashamed of Craig.
The fact that Vanessa (Zöe Lucker) has turned up at the meal only serves to make matters more complicated, but in the end she proves to be a real peace-maker as she tries to talk Tyler round.
Meanwhile, once the dust has settled, Michael (Steve John Shepherd) makes it clear to Vanessa that he's sick of her pursuit of Eddie and her involvement in family matters.
Michael resorts to desperate measures the next day by offering Vanessa money to leave Albert Square for good. Will Vanessa accept the bribe and will it be the end for her and Eddie?

EastEnders star Shona McGarty has admitted that her character Whitney Dean still prefers to date bad boys.
Whitney has been in a relationship with Fatboy Chubb (Ricky Norwood) in recent weeks, but she remains secretly attracted to local womaniser Tyler Moon.
McGarty told Inside Soap's Yearbook 2012: "I personally think that it'd be lovely if Whitney and Fatboy could live happily ever after in Walford. Deep down though, I reckon that Whitney knows that Tyler's actually the guy for her. She does like her bad boys, doesn't she?
"Tyler's not that bad in reality of course, but he still has that little bit of an edge - like Billie Jackson did when she was going out with him. I think she knows Tyler is going to be the one for her."
The actress also suggested that Bianca Butcher's forthcoming EastEnders return will have a positive impact on Whitney.
"I think it's worked really well for Whitney's storylines this year that she's felt quite alone, but now is definitely the right time for Bianca to come back," she said. "Whitney just needs her mum in her life."
Tony Discipline, who plays Tyler, recently claimed that the antiques dealer "understands Whitney more than anyone else".
EastEnders star Tony Discipline has called for his character Tyler Moon to get a girlfriend.
Speaking to Inside Soap, the actor predicted that his alter ego will eventually start a relationship with Whitney Dean (Shona McGarty).
Discipline said: "I think Tyler needs to decide what he wants when it comes to women.
"I'd really like to see him settle down with Whitney eventually. He's harbouring some big love for her."
Co-star Matt Lapinskas, who plays Tyler's brother Anthony, said that he hopes his character gains confidence in the future.
Lapinskas speculated: "I'd like to see Anthony come out of his shell a bit more now that he's settled in Walford. And I want the Moons to get a dog!"
EastEnders duo Tony Discipline and Matt Lapinskas have admitted that being in the public eye keeps them under pressure to stay in shape.
The pair, who joined the BBC soap as Moon brothers Tyler and Anthony last year, recalled their first experience of appearing half-naked in an interview with Heat magazine.

"When you're in the public eye, though, you feel like you have to keep in shape," Lapinskas said. "You're always under pressure. You can get quite caught up in it and people do become anorexic in the industry.
"When we first filmed in your boxers we walked into our dressing rooms and there were just some boxers hanging up. We rang down saying, 'Our costumes aren't here', and they said, 'Yeah, they are'. I was like, 'Are you serious?'"
Discipline added: "It's easy when you can hide behind a character."
The pair, who appear in a strip poker themed photoshoot, are now dating co-stars Shona McGarty (Whitney Dean) and Jacqueline Jossa (Lauren Branning), but insist that they don't bring their private lives into work.
"We don't take our relationships on set. When we get to the gates of the BBC, we're at work," they said.
The full interview appears in the new issue of Heat magazine, out now.

Looks like a photoshop job to me.
McGarty - who plays Whitney Dean in the soap - began dating Lapinskas (Anthony Moon) in October, and she revealed that she was first interested in him after looking at his photo before he joined the cast in July.
"I saw a photo of these two new boys joining EastEnders and was like, 'Oh my God, he's so amazing!' So yes, I fancied him just from a photo!" she told New magazine.
On starting their relationship, she explained: "There was a bit of nervous hesitation on my part. I'd be very well-behaved when he was around - not as giggly or chatty - so everyone knew something was going on! Then me and Matt just became really good friends.
"One weekend, I went to a family barbecue of his and it was absolutely amazing. That's where I knew that I really, really liked him."
She added: "He's sweet and really lovely. He'll make me cups of tea and he ran a bath for me the other night. Once, when I had to go into work early, he wrapped me in a duvet in the car because I was so freezing.
"It was so amazing - I've never been treated that way before."
Matt Lapinskas revealed last year that he aims to keep their relationship "professional" while on set.

EastEnders star Tony Discipline has revealed that he would like his character Tyler Moon to marry Whitney Dean in the future.
Tyler has harboured feelings for Whitney (Shona McGarty) for some time, but she is currently in a relationship with his friend Arthur 'Fat Boy' Chubb (Ricky Norwood).
Discipline has now told Soaplife that he believes Tyler and Whitney have the potential for a strong future together.
"Once they finally get together and everyone's accepted it for what it is and they're left alone, I think they could go really far," the actor explained.
Asked whether that could include a wedding, he replied: "I hope so! Their characters would have a big East End wedding. Maybe they'd get Tyler's dad Eddie back from Spain."
EastEnders fans will see Tyler make an attempt to win Whitney's heart later this month.
Speaking of the plot development, Discipline explained: "Lucy starts meddling and tells Tyler that Fat Boy is going to propose to Whitney on Valentine's Day. They're at R&R and Tyler feels he has to tell her not to do it, and reveals his feelings for her.
"[But] she tells him it's too late. He's really hurt. He knows what he feels about Whitney, and he knows he wants to be there for her, but he can't put it into the right words. This is all new to Tyler. He's never found a girl that he really wants to be with like this."
EastEnders continues tonight at 8pm on BBC One.

One of the problems I find with the three of them is that Steve John Shepherd can act and has developed Michael into an interesting and somewhat enigmatic character, whereas the other two are like wooden planks who couldn't act their way out of a paper bag.
EastEnders antiques dealer Anthony Moon has experienced a turbulent few weeks on Albert Square, facing threats from villain Derek Branning over an unpaid debt, burying the hatchet with half-brother Michael, and embarking on the early stages of a romance with Amira Shah.
Digital Spy recently caught up with Matt Lapinskas, who plays Anthony, for a chat about his recent storylines, life at EastEnders and where he wants his character to go next.
How are you finding your time at EastEnders?
"I'm really enjoying it and it's been a real learning curve. Every day I come into work and I learn something new from a different member of the team. It's fantastic working with everybody here.
"For example, the viewers have just seen a big week that we did with Jamie Foreman who plays Derek Branning, and he's a master at what he does. He's absolutely brilliant, as he sat down with me and chatted about various aspects of acting and projects that he's worked on. That was a real inspiration."
When did you decide that you wanted to pursue acting?
"I've wanted to do it ever since I was little. I was never really academic at school and was much more interested in hands-on things, rather than Science, Maths or English.
"I did well with Drama at secondary school and developed a massive passion for it. I took part in all of the school shows and played the role of Bill Sikes in Oliver Twist when I was 14, which was quite fun! So I went on from there, really."
What was it like to film last week's episodes with Derek and the Moons?
"I loved the challenge. Every time you get a big storyline and lots of scripts, it's fantastic - there's lots to sink your teeth into. Myself, Jamie and Tony Discipline sat down and spoke about the scenes beforehand, discussing how we were going to perform them. It's like taking on a new project, so every time I get a new storyline, I'm hands-on and ready to go for it."
Anthony and Tyler had always got on quite well with Derek. How did they feel when he turned so nasty?
"I think it was definitely a shock for them to see his true colours! Anthony was really worried as he didn't want them to get into trouble, so as we saw, he was trying his best to get them out of it. But even though they were scared of Derek, Anthony and Tyler are brothers and they've got each other's backs, so it was nice that we saw them standing up to Derek in some of the scenes."
Have they learned any lessons from it?
"I think they've learned a massive lesson when it comes to who they can't trust, and who they shouldn't cross!"
Anthony's gambling problem means that there's a slightly edgier side to the character. Do you enjoy portraying that?
"Yes, it's a great thing that our executive producer Bryan Kirkwood and the EastEnders team came up with for Anthony - that he does have this gambling problem and various insecurities connected with it. It adds some more depth to the character and it's brilliant when we can explore that. With every topic and every storyline that crops up, I think Anthony's background will always have an effect and impact on it. That's really nice to play."
Anthony and Tyler now seem to be on better terms with Michael again. How hard was it to swallow their pride and forgive him?
"Well, from the start, I think Anthony always admired Michael and looked up to him. Michael was a businessman and very independent, and I think that's what Anthony wanted to be himself. So Anthony definitely took it to heart when he found out about the boxing match and how Michael had put Tyler in danger.
"But I think Anthony has always wanted to forgive Michael - it was Tyler who wanted to keep his distance. Anthony is always going to stick by Tyler, but he does have a soft spot for Michael and that's why he made the first move by approaching him for help."
Would you like the three brothers to stick together more and perhaps become more of a force on Albert Square?
"That would be brilliant - it'd be fantastic to take over the Square! Maybe they could take over the various businesses and start running everything. I'm sure that's probably not going to happen, but you never know - maybe in the future!"
Do you think Anthony and Tyler can ever fully trust Michael?
"I think they might be able to trust Michael, because he is family. But if they do trust him, they'll always be open to being taken for granted and maybe backstabbed by him again. We'll have to wait and see what happens, because he is very devious."
Does Anthony wish he was a bit more like Tyler?
"I think he does every now and then. Tyler is a bit more of a hands-on character, who has a real 'get up and go' attitude. But Anthony is more of a thinker and he'll analyse situations beforehand, rather than just going for it and not really thinking of the consequences. There are times where Anthony wishes he was more like Tyler, but at the same time, he's quite happy with who he is."
How strong are Anthony's feelings for Amira?
"Well, from the very first time Anthony saw Amira at the pub, he said she was a goddess. Since then, he's been helping her out a bit, and she's warming to him. You never know what could happen - watch this space. It could turn into something beautiful!"
Does Amira really like Anthony, or is she just using him?
"I think at first she might have wanted to use him to make Syed jealous, but over a period of time, she might start warming to him. He is genuinely a nice guy and quite charming, so she could fall for him."
As EastEnders is your first big role, how have you found the recognition that comes with it?
"It has been an adjustment, as you can be walking down the street and people will be staring at you. Sometimes I forget why! But the great thing is that I haven't had any negative recognition - it's all been positive. Everyone has been really nice and I've always got time to talk to the EastEnders fans."
As your screen brother Tony started at a similar time as you, has that been a big help?
"It's been great to have that, really. When you come into such a big show, it's fantastic to have another new person on the journey with you. We started off together and became friends, and it's grown and grown from there. We're great friends off the set, and I think that really comes across on screen as we are so close."
How supportive are the other co-stars you work closely with?
"Shane Richie is a fantastic guy - he always makes you laugh, but he's so professional as well. Jessie Wallace is a brilliant actress - she's done so much for EastEnders and is a lovely woman. Also, Steve McFadden is my mentor and he always helps me out. If I need anything, I can just call him or text him. He's been in the show for years now, and he's always willing to sit and chat."
Moving forward, what kind of storylines would you like to explore with Anthony?
"I'd really like to deal with an issue or a current topic - something that affects young lads out there who are Anthony's age. It'd be great to go away, do some research and portray a topic that would be quite hard-hitting. I think that's what EastEnders is all about - it likes to take real-life topics and educate people about them."
It sounds like you're really enjoying your time on the show.
"I am, especially as I was a massive fan and I'd watched EastEnders since I was little. It really is fantastic to be a part of something that you've watched for so long!"
EastEnders star Tony Discipline has revealed that his parents supported his decision to become an actor.
Discipline, who plays Tyler Moon in the BBC One soap, thought about becoming a professional wrestler like his father and grandfather before settling on the acting profession.
"My dad has always been the type of geezer to get behind you no matter what. Whatever I said I wanted to do he would be behind me 100 per cent without questioning it. He wasn't against it but said, 'if you are going to do it, do it properly, get yourself to class'," he told the Sunday Mail.
"My mum was a bit apprehensive but only because she wanted me to be secure in life, but as soon as she knew I was serious about the acting she was fully behind me as well. I have really supportive parents. When I got the role my mum was over the moon, if you'll excuse the pun.
"I remember coming in after getting the phone call and she was just as happy and excited as I was, jumping up and down. I rang my dad and told him and he got a bit choked up to be honest. My dad is a massive fan of EastEnders. He was made up for me to get a part in it."
He added: "The big thing about EastEnders is when you turn up, everybody makes you feel at home right away.
"You are made to feel welcome but it takes six to eight months for you to feel comfortable with yourself, being with all these big stars, being part of the show, being in the Queen Vic and iconic places like that which you have grown up watching. Now, I feel like it is home."
It was recently announced that Discipline would stand trial for assault in August 2012.

EastEnders antiques dealer Anthony Moon is to leave the soap,
The shop manager, played by Matt Lapinskas, will depart screens in the coming weeks after less than a year in Walford.
Lapinskas, confirming his exit, commented: "I'm having a fantastic time working on EastEnders and playing the role of Anthony Moon. Working with David Essex, Tony Discipline and the EastEnders cast has been an absolute pleasure.
"Although I will really miss EastEnders and everyone involved, I am very excited about future projects and what is next for me as an actor."
Anthony turned up on Albert Square last July, just a few weeks after his dad Eddie and brother Tyler.
His storylines have included short-lived romances with Poppy Meadow and Amira Shah, as well as a dangerous encounter with the villainous Derek Branning.

EastEnders star Matt Lapinskas has spoken about his plans after he leaves the show.
The actor - who plays Anthony Moon in the BBC One soap - confirmed his exit earlier this month, having joined in July last year.
Lapinskas told BBC Radio 1 that he intends to try taking the step up to movie roles in the future, while also hoping for a spot in this year's Strictly Come Dancing.
"I'm loving it [at EastEnders]. It's been a great year," he said. "Obviously I'm leaving in a little while.
"I should be on screen until around September. I loved my time there, there's fantastic actresses and actors there.
"I'd love to go off and do some great films. I'd love to work with Guy Richie, that's pushing it out there a bit! I'd love to do Strictly as well."
Anthony Moon's storylines in the soap have included romances with Poppy Meadow and Amira Shah, as well as a dangerous escapade with Derek Branning.
Matt Lapinskas has spoken of falling for his EastEnders co-star Shona McGarty on the set of the soap, saying it was "love at first sight".
The 22-year-old actor, who plays bad-boy antiques shop manager Anthony Moon, immediately hit it off with McGarty, who plays teenager Whitney Dean, reports the Daily Mail.
He told Closer: "I had seen Shona on TV and always thought she had a gorgeous smile, but it is all about the personality.
"When I met her, we just clicked. It really was love at first sight."
He went on to say that the pair bonded over music, recalling: "I play the guitar and Shona is an amazing singer, so we would hang out in each other's dressing rooms playing songs."
The pair met after Lapinskas joined the show a year ago. McGarty, 20, had been playing Whitney on the show for four years.
It was announced last month that Lapinskas is to exit due to Anthony Moon being written out of the show.
"These things happen. The show has a new executive producer and she wanted to make changes," he said. "I am upset, but EastEnders has been amazing and hopefully it will be a springboard into something new."
Speaking of his post-EastEnders plans, Lapinskas recently expressed his desire to appear as a contestant on Strictly Come Dancing, as well as pursuing a movie career.
EastEnders star Matt Lapinskas has been tipped to join the next series of Dancing on Ice.
The actor, who films his last scenes as Anthony Moon in the coming weeks, is said to have been targeted by the show's producers and impressed during audition stages.
According to the Daily Star, the 22-year-old will confirm his involvement once his contract has been finalised.
Jodie Marsh is also said to be joining the lineup for the eighth series of the ITV show, after she was spotted undergoing a skating trial at Alexandra Palace ice rink in North London.
An insider told the paper that the former glamour model has been approached as ITV1 bosses are keen to build hype and want to bring a bit of drama to the forthcoming series.
"The show was slammed as being boring last time around so bosses are keen to pick people who will make the headlines," said the source.
"In Jodie's case it doesn't have to be for the right reasons. She loves the limelight and they reckon she'd be great on the show."
The insider added: "They also want Matt. They approached him after he said he wanted to do Strictly Come Dancing so he really is top of their list.
"He's young, good-looking and has that cheeky personality that female viewers love."
The source also revealed that Steps star Ian 'H' Watkins has auditioned for the show and hinted that the 'ice panel' may undergo a few changes.
"There is going to be a major shake-up of the judges and they want *contestants who will appeal to all ages," they said.
"The crazier and louder the better is what they're thinking."
EastEnders star Matt Lapinskas has revealed that he would like to make a future return to the soap.
The actor recently filmed his final scenes as Anthony Moon, who bows out from Walford at the end of the month.
Anthony makes his exit as his current romance storyline with Alice Branning comes to a head, with the newcomer's father Derek and brother Joey both against the relationship.
Lapinskas told All About Soap: "Poor Anthony - they gave him a relationship with Jodie and she left, then with Poppy and she also left, and then he was with Amira and she left too! Don't get in a relationship with Anthony or you'll have to flee the Square!
"This time, though, it's the other way round - he gets in a relationship with someone and it ends with Anthony leaving."
He continued: "It's a good exit and it's very open for Anthony to come back. With Tyler and the Moon family still around, there's definitely cause for Anthony to return in the future."
Asked whether he would be willing to return, he replied: "Yeah, I'd love to. My contract came to an end and they decided not to renew it - that was their choice, but I'd love to return. I feel like I've got a lot more to give and I'd like to be able to prove myself."
Lapinskas added that he has "a few exciting things coming up" over the next few months.
He said: "It's going to be good - you should see me on screen soon. I'm looking forward to it."
EastEnders star Matt Lapinskas has revealed that his character Anthony Moon's exit plot sees him make a "big mistake".
Anthony bows out from Walford in a fortnight's time as his romance storyline with Albert Square newcomer Alice Branning (Jasmyn Banks) comes to a head.
The antiques dealer realises how much he likes Alice in upcoming episodes, but he is still unsure of how to deal with her troublesome family members Derek and Joey (Jamie Foreman and David Witts).
Lapinskas told Soaplife: "Joey manipulates Anthony into challenging Derek, which is a big mistake.
"I can't give too much away, but I can tell you that after going up against Derek, Anthony has no choice but to leave the Square."
Magazine reports have revealed that Anthony packs his bags after losing everything in a game of poker with Derek and Joey.
The storyline revisits the character's gambling problem, which first became apparent on screen last year.
Lapinskas, who has already filmed his final scenes, recently said that he is hoping for a future return to the show.

Won't be a miss
Matt Lapinskas has admitted that he was sad to be written out of EastEnders.
The actor, whose character Anthony Moon departs Albert Square next Thursday, said he would have liked his gambling addiction storyline to deepen further.
"I was quite disappointed when I found out Anthony would be leaving - I'd have liked to do a lot more stuff with him," he told Inside Soap.
"It's a shame not to be a part of what's coming up - I'd have loved to explore Anthony's gambling problem in more depth, made him more of a player."
Lapinskas, whose Walford stay has lasted 13 months, added that he will miss friend and on-screen brother Tony Discipline (Tyler Moon) and girlfriend Shona McGarty (Whitney Dean).
"I've worked with amazing actors and made some great friends," the star gushed. "Tony and I are still best mates. And while I never went in expecting to find love, I met my girlfriend Shona there."

there is only so much you can do with "yet" another young male on this soap, there are far to many at the moment, and who wants to see a story about gambling problems? Of course it was recently a storyline on another soap, so guess it was only a matter of time before it was shown here, what is it about scriptwriters that they have to copy other soaps stories?
Nah let him go!
What ever happened to the typcial 2x2 family in the soaps, why not a nice family (hunky hubby, attractive lady and "normal" kids) more of this please, and less of singletons who are rejects from their families

Seemed the same to me, also ,wasn't Tyler co-owner ? I can't see Derek risking that amount of money & his daughters future on the turn of a card without cheating somehow.
EastEnders star Tony Discipline has predicted that Tyler Moon's decision to go into business with Derek Branning will backfire.
Bad boy Derek (Jamie Foreman) approaches Tyler and offers him a stall in the market next week, secretly hoping to make his son Joey jealous.
The surprising development will be the first storyline for Tyler since the recent departure of his brother Anthony, who was played by Matt Lapinskas.
Speaking to PA about Lapinskas's departure and his own Walford future, Discipline explained: "I'm going to miss [Matt] a lot. He played my brother on screen, he's a big part of my life, but he's gone off to do other things now and I wish the best to him.
"Tyler's obviously going to miss his brother, but he's going into business with Derek Branning, so I think he's going off on his own and we'll see where that takes him. [Derek] is going to do me over at some point, I think!"
Discipline added that he now feels settled on EastEnders after more than a year on screen.
He said: "It's a bit clichéd to say it, but it is like a family. Everyone gets on, there's always laughing and joking going on."
Tyler heads back to Walford next week following time away on a work trip.
Former EastEnders star Matt Lapinskas has admitted that he was shocked to be written out of the soap.
The actor bowed out from his role as Anthony Moon last summer after only a year in the part.
Lapinskas, who is still dating current cast member Shona McGarty (Whitney Dean), has now spoken candidly about his axing for the first time.
He told The Sun's TV Magazine: "I had absolutely no idea what was coming. The week before, I'd been talking about storylines that were to come for Anthony in the years ahead.
"Before my meeting telling me they'd decided not to renew my contract, I was having a laugh with everyone: 'I'm going to get my P45 now.' Then it actually happened. People didn't seem to know why. When I told Shona, she was upset."
The 23-year-old said that Anthony's exit could have been linked to the decision to bring in Joey Branning, played by David Witts.
He commented: "Maybe they wanted to swap one young guy for another young guy. The show is very Branning-orientated at the moment. Almost every scene's got a Branning in it."
Lapinskas added that he is looking on the bright side as his relationship with McGarty has been "ten times better" since he left EastEnders.
The soap star also returns to screens this weekend as a contestant on ITV1's Dancing on Ice.

DANCING On Ice heartthrob Matt Lapinskas is planning a sensational return to East-Enders – and hints it could involve a full Moons reunion.
He let slip that plans are already in motion to get the whole clan back together for Tyler Moon’s marriage to Whitney Dean.
If it does come off, the Walford wedding will be a bizarre experience for Matt — his real-life girlfriend and former co-star Shona McGarty plays bride-to-be Whitney.
Matt fell for Shona after joining the BBC1 soap in 2011. He was cheeky chappie Anthony Moon, who turned up in Albert Square with dad Eddie, played by David Essex, and brother Tyler (Tony Discipline).
Both Matt and David have since left the show. Their characters are supposedly keeping out of trouble in sunny Spain. Anthony fled there last summer to join Eddie after upsetting villainous Derek Branning.
Matt told TV Biz: “Shona is very excited about her East-Enders wedding and I’d love to be involved.”
Explaining how his comeback might come about, he added: “Tyler might text his brother and ask him to come back, so we’ll see what happens there.
“Anthony is now in Spain with his dad and there could be a Moon clan reunion.”
However, Matt wouldn’t want to go back to Albert Square full-time. He’d prefer his character to occasionally pop in and out... and leave chaos in his wake.
He admitted: “I’d love to go back — not to stay but to have a beginning, a middle and an end, cause some trouble then leave again. That would be fun.”
Shona’s excitement about her upcoming soap wedding is making Matt think about their own big day.
Not that he has actually got around to proposing yet.
He revealed: “She likes the whole Big Fat Gypsy Wedding thing, so if our day did come I think there would be some arguments.
“I’d say, ‘You’re not wearing that!’ And she’ll be like, ‘Yes I am and we’re getting married here with this horse!’ ”
Matt may not be on the verge of popping the question but he does believe that he and Shona are soulmates and will be together forever.
He said: “She is definitely The One and I love her to pieces, but we’re still young.
“I’m 23, she’s 21, but when the time is right, the time is right.”
Shona has been seen in the audience for Dancing On Ice, cheering on Matt during his performances.
He is really enjoying being in the ITV show, partnered by professional skater Brianne Delcourt.
He is still favourite to glide off with the winner’s trophy despite ending up in the bottom two last weekend, along with singer Shayne Ward.
When not practising at the rink, Matt has been reading scripts for new TV shows and admits he is itching to get back to acting.
He said: “It’s a great thing to get myself out there and for people to see me for who I am. And it has also been great to come out of EastEnders and express myself.
“But I miss acting and I want a good script to get my teeth into after this.”
It is not all work and no play, though. He is planning a relaxing break to recuperate from his Dancing On Ice aches and pains.
Matt said: “My shoulders are so sore from lifting Brianne above my head.
“When I’ve finished this, Shona and I are going on a nice holiday!

EastEnders bosses have denied claims that Matt Lapinskas could be reprising his role as Anthony Moon.
Tabloid reports today (February 6) have tipped Anthony to return to Walford for his brother Tyler's upcoming wedding.
Lapinskas, who is currently competing on ITV's Dancing on Ice, told The Sun that there could be a reunion for the Moons if Tyler's plans to marry Whitney Dean go ahead.
In real life, Lapinskas is still in a relationship with Shona McGarty, who plays Whitney, and also remains friends with former on-screen brother Tony Discipline.
The 23-year-old commented: "Shona is very excited about her EastEnders wedding and I'd love to be involved. Tyler might text his brother and ask him to come back, so we'll see what happens there.
"Anthony is now in Spain with his dad and there could be a Moon clan reunion."
However, an EastEnders spokesperson told Digital Spy this morning: "We currently have no plans for Anthony to make a return to Walford."
Anthony was written out of the programme last year, departing Albert Square after being scared away by Derek Branning.

Lol, how desperate is Matt Lapinskas? He's come across as an arrogant tool on DOI and the second he's in the skate-off he starts spreading rumours about going back to Eastenders, which the BBC immediately deny!
EastEnders has announced that Tony Discipline will be leaving after two years on the soap.
The door will, however, be left open for a possible return.
Tyler arrived on Albert Square with his brother Anthony Moon (Matt Lapinskas) and father Eddie (David Essex). His character is currently engaged to Whitney Dean (Shona McGarty).
An EastEnders insider told the Daily Star on Sunday: "It was decided that there really wasn't much else they could do with Tyler.
"His exit will focus on Tyler's relationship with Whitney. They haven't got the strongest of relationships but they do love each other so it's going to be an emotional time for them both.
"It will also spell the start of a big storyline for Whitney. She has been through so much during her young life and things are set to get dark for her again as she struggles to cope with losing Tyler."
The actor is currently dating co-star Jacqueline Jossa (Lauren) in real life.
Discipline's exit follows those of Jo Joyner (Tanya Branning), Scott Maslen (Jack Branning) and Steve John Shepherd (Michael Moon).
Tyler Moon's exit will air later this year.

EastEnders airs Tyler Moon's exit scenes next week as he leaves Walford to work on a cruise ship.
Tyler, played by Tony Discipline, decides that he wants a fresh start after splitting from girlfriend Whitney Dean for good.
When Tyler's brother Anthony reveals that he can get him a job on the cruise he's currently working on, Tyler jumps at the chance to see the world and have some fun again.
Later, as Tyler shares his intentions with Whitney (Shona McGarty) and she doesn't give him a reason to stay, it's clear that he's making the right decision.
Before leaving Albert Square, Tyler helps his older brother Michael (Steve John Shepherd) with an attempt to con cash-strapped Danny Pennant (Gary Lucy).
Dressing up in smart clothes, Tyler pretends that he is on the Square to repossess Danny's flash car, which the charmer reluctantly hands over.
Towards the end of the day, Tyler departs Walford in style as he drives off in Danny's car.
A torn Whitney doesn't let him go without saying goodbye, so Tyler tells her that he will always love her before making his departure.
Show bosses confirmed Tyler's exit last month following a two-year stint for the character.
