John's sinister side emerges again
Airs on Monday, May 16 2011 20:30 BST on ITV1

As he bundles the Hoyles outside, John tells them not to come again as his new girlfriend won't be happy. He agrees to go to their house to talk, but as he arrives it's clear that John's a man on the edge once more.

As the Hoyles reveal that his little brother Chesney came to visit, John realises that Chesney is on to him. The Hoyles also want to know why he's living on Coronation Street, the very place where Charlotte died. Inwardly panicking, John knows he can't talk his way out of this one. Asking them to show him their basement bar, John turns sinister...

Meanwhile, there's tension at the garage when Kevin suggests that he and Tyrone should spend money on new tools. When they then have to turn down a job because they don't have a hydraulic lift, Kevin feels vindicated. Aware they can't carry on working like this, Kevin has a shocking proposition for Tyrone.

Elsewhere, Sean's been duped by Eileen - his blind date is Marcus. At first he's annoyed, but as they relax in each other's company, it's clear that the spark's still there. When Marcus moves in for a kiss, will Sean respond?

Also today, Gail offers Kylie and David her support in gaining access to Max, but this may not be what Kylie wants, Amy enjoys having her mum and dad looking after her, and Tommy causes a stir in The Rovers.

John decides to deal with Chesney

Chesney confronts John, revealing that he knows about his double life and his engagement to Charlotte, before demanding answers on what he did with Mrs Fishwick. John protests his innocence but Ches doesn't want to hear it and vows that he's going to tell Fiz what he knows.

At the same time, Katy confides in Anna about how her morning sickness is affecting her exams. Faye hears the conversation and reveals to Owen that Katy is pregnant. Owen's soon on the warpath and Katy calls Ches. He tells her that he's on way home, but Ches never makes it back.

Insisting he needs to hear the truth from the Hoyles, John has taken Ches to the house. But when he finds them bound and gagged in the cellar Chesney's worst fears are realised. Will he escape or is Chesney about to become John's next kidnap victim?

Meanwhile, Tyrone seethes as Kevin's new state-of-the-art hydraulic lift arrives, but Kevin insists that it's his and his alone. Kevin declares that he bought it with his scratch card winnings and he'll be claiming all the profit on any jobs using it. Downbeat, Tyrone tells Tommy that he's considering selling up and moving away.

Elsewhere, another row breaks out between Rosie and Jason, while Marcus heads back down south to tie up loose ends, leaving Sean to fear that he will lose him again.

A nasty accident puts Kevin in jeopardy

Tyrone is near breaking point following more rows with Kevin. Left alone, he looks at Kevin's precious lift before whacking it with a spanner. Regretting breaking the lift, he quickly fixes it before heading to the pub to drown his sorrows with Tommy.

Later, Kevin works in the garage under an elevated car, but the lift suddenly buckles. Could Kevin be in danger?

Meanwhile, Katy's drained as she waits for news from Chesney, still struggling to believe John's story that he's walked out on her. She questions John over exactly what Ches said before he ran off, but it still makes no sense. However, Owen's delighted, revealing that he's booked her an appointment at an abortion clinic. Later, in the Hoyles' basement, an eerily calm John cares for his captives...

Elsewhere, David wants Kylie to arrange for them to have Max at the weekend, but Kylie comes up with a million reasons not to, determined to throw him off the scent. However, when David spots a stressed Steve snap at Max, he's given more ammunition.

Also today, Sally arrives back from Paris, Xin looks into job opportunities away from Weatherfield, and Audrey plays confidant to Marc.

Kevin is rushed to hospital

Trapped under the car in agony, Kevin screams for help. Tyrone and Tommy find him being crushed by the car. Tommy calls an ambulance while Tyrone uses a jack to free Kevin. As Kevin's rushed to hospital, Sally is by his side, while Tyrone fears it's all his fault. With the Websters threatening to sue the manufacturer, will Tyrone come clean?

At the same time, Jeff has a special night planned for Sally but as he waits at the bistro with a ring box on the table, it looks like Sally is a no-show. Will Sally stay by Kevin's side in his hour of need?

Meanwhile, with Chesney still missing, Owen continues to push Katy towards an abortion. At the same time, John admits that he has more bad news for Fiz - Colin Fishwick is back in the country and unless they want to both go down for fraud, they must leave town…

Elsewhere, when Max runs into the road, it's David who plucks him to safety before rounding on Steve and Becky, claiming this is evidence that they're incapable of looking after Max. Kylie's between a rock and a hard place but promises she'll talk to Becky. At the same time, Amy has witnessed the incident and is desperate to regain Steve's full attention, so she resorts to desperate measures.

Also today, Tina's not happy when Graeme gets Xin a trial at the bistro.
