Only Fools And Horses creator John Sullivan has died at the age of 64. The celebrated sitcom writer passed away after suffering a short illness, reports BBC News.
Only Fools And Horses ran from 1981 to 1991 and several Christmas specials have followed in the years since.
Sullivan's latest work, Del Boy Trotter-focused prequel Rock & Chips' is due to air on Thursday (April 28). He was also known for his work writing spin-off The Green Green Grass and Citizen Smith.
BBC director general Mark Thompson paid tribute to Sullivan, commenting: "John had a unique gift for turning everyday life and characters we all know into unforgettable comedy.
BBC head of comedy Mark Freeland added: "He was the Dickens of our generation. Simply the best, most natural, most heartfelt comedy writer of our time."
