Lady GaGa has caused fury among Christian groups for planning to release her new music video for 'Judas' at Easter.

The singer-songwriter is to play Mary Magdalene in the promo, which has been described by the video's co-director as a "new Jerusalem".

The president of the Catholic League for Religious and Civil Rights, Bill Donahue, has condemned the release, claiming that the star has no talent and needs to use religion for its shock value to gain attention, reports The Mirror.

"She is trying to rip off Christian idolatry to shore up her talentless, mundane and boring performances," he explained.

"Another ex-Catholic whose head is turned around... Is this the only way to jet up her performance?"

GaGa rush-released the single five days early after the track leaked online.

'Judas' is the second single to be taken from GaGa's new album Born This Way, which is to be released worldwide on May 23.
