Monday episode 5271 - 11/04/11

Xavier admits to Dex he lied about being a fantastic surfer so he could impress Miranda, a hot surfer chick. Dex warns about the dangers of lying to impress a girl, but the next time Xavier runs into Miranda she asks what course he’s doing at uni. Too embarrassed to admit he’s only in year 12, Xavier blurts out he’s studying philosophy. In order to keep up the façade, Xavier starts studying from Gina’s old philosophy text books. Gina is thrilled Xavier is showing an academic interest, but John suspects there’s more to it.

Casey has his misgivings about the party Ruby plans on throwing at the empty mansion. Ruby assures him it will only be a select few on the guest list, which eases Casey’s worries. However Heath hears about the party and guilt-trips Casey into inviting him. Casey gives him a fake address, hoping Heath won’t find out the truth. Unfortunately Heath figures it out and what was intended to be a small gathering becomes a disaster when Heath and his friends gatecrash - April is pushed in the pool while Dex finds Summer vomiting in the garden. Ruby tries to stop the raucous party but it quickly gets out of hand.

Keen to show she’s accepting of Casey Braxton as Ruby’s boyfriend, Charlie is putting in a special effort to make a cake for the Braxton barbecue she’s going to tomorrow night. Leah offers to help finish the cake while Charlie heads off to her night shift at the police station. She’s soon given the call to chase up a noise complaint from a mansion up on the hills – no doubt the mansion where Ruby is holding her party. After hearing sirens approaching, Ruby and Casey decide to do a runner from the party. But Ruby leaves her bag behind and Casey goes back after it. He throws the bag over the fence and goes to climb over it, but he is stopped in his tracks by Charlie shining the torch on his guilty face.

Tuesday episode 5272 - 12/04/11

Nicole worries her new designs for the Surf Club merchandise are boring and predictable. She considers giving up, but Roo suggests the right solution is sure to present itself. After seeing Angelo in a towel, Nicole hits upon an idea and starts doing some research. She enlists the help of Indi and Angelo as models for her presentation. At the presentation her designs are anything but boring and predictable – skin tight pink and black aqua-suits. The designs are crowd pleasers but John is not impressed. He gives her an earful of his opinions and Nicole is upset that she’s ruined her first semi-professional gig. Angelo is particularly consolatory, offering to be a sounding board for her ideas as Nicole begins to realise there’s a lot more to him than she ever knew. Could this be the beginning of a beautiful friendship?

Charlie begins the arduous task of processing and charging the party-goers with no intension of giving Casey special treatment. Brax comes down to the station to protect his little brother. However the owner of the mansion comes to the station and remembers Casey as the delivery boy that visited his house on the weekend. Charlie takes this as undeniable proof that Casey must’ve been the organiser of the party, but Brax tells her it’s just a co-incidence. Meanwhile Ruby has managed to escape the police but Charlie is certain she had a part in it. Charlie questions Ruby who denies any involvement at first, but soon admits she was there. Charlie is furious that Ruby has lied yet again and threatens to stop her from seeing Casey.

Meanwhile Brax gets the full story from Casey and finds Ruby’s bag on site at the mansion – proof that Ruby was at the party. Brax is certain Charlie wouldn’t charge Casey since it would mean having to charge Ruby as well. Charlie insists they didn’t have enough evidence to press charges but Brax thinks otherwise. The argument escalates to where Charlie is about to slap Brax, only to have Brax pull her into a kiss and this time she doesn’t pull back.

Wednesday episode 5273 - 13/04/11

Charlie’s high after sleeping with Brax is short-lived when she is reminded of how bad this bad boy is. Also struggling on the mother front, Charlie is trying to get Ruby to stop seeing Casey. Charlie believes Casey is bad for Ruby, the same way Brax is bad for her. However Ruby refuses to listen, certain Casey is the only person who cares about her. A talk with Angelo reiterates Charlie’s stance, but when Ruby defiantly decides to go to the Braxton barbecue, Charlie is too exhausted to stop her. Brax comes by that night, upset that Charlie is not at the barbecue. He believes they had a connection and have a chance of being together. But Charlie feels sleeping together was a mistake and tells Brax to stay away from her from now on.

Roo thanks Marilyn for having her over the other night and offers to return the favour by having Marilyn and Sid over for a casual dinner. Marilyn is wary of the invitation, anxious of how well Roo and Sid have gotten along. But being put on the spot she accepts the invitation. At the dinner party, Marilyn’s worst fears are coming to fruition as once again Roo and Sid strike up a rapport, making Marilyn feel very left out. They start sharing horror stories about giving birth which startles a heavily pregnant Nicole into a bout of hiccups. Angelo escorts Nicole home from the dinner party early and Marilyn, having had enough of Roo and Sid’s double act, tells them they’re being completely insensitive to Nicole’s feelings before stalking off to the bathroom. When she comes back, Marilyn overhears Roo and Sid talking about someone being “naïve and immature”. Marilyn assumes they’re talking about her and chides them for it. However Sid corrects her, explaining they were talking about Nicole’s feelings to the reception of her Surf Club designs. Marilyn feels embarrassed, wishing the room would swallow her whole.

As Angelo escorts Nicole home she confides how terrified she’s feeling about the whole birthing process, especially since it’s looming ever closer. Feeling for Nicole, Angelo takes her in his arms for a hug and assures her that she’s going to be fine. Nicole takes comfort in his embrace as we see these two becoming closer and closer.

Thursday episode 5274 - 14/04/11

After Marilyn’s outburst at Roo’s party, Sid is angry, confused why Marilyn acted the way she did. When pressed, Marilyn reveals she thinks Sid and Roo get on a little too well. Sid denies this but is secretly feeling guilty. Marilyn approaches Roo hoping to smooth things over after the night before. Roo, who has already been clued into Marilyn’s behaviour by an observant Miles, assures Marilyn she understands and that Sid is off limits because he’s attached. Marilyn has her doubts and voices them to Miles. Meanwhile Sid goes to Roo’s house, hoping to clear the air. Sid reveals admits he does feel an attraction towards Roo and that’s what Marilyn is picking up. Roo feels immediately awkward, wishing he hadn’t voiced that. But Roo keeps her own attraction an unspoken secret. Will these two be able to keep their desire at bay?

Irene is starting to notice April’s strange behaviour and can’t help be concerned. April confides in Dex that she’s feeling anxious about Bianca being away, fearing she might be in a car accident or a plane crash. She knows it’s illogical and it’s making her OCD act up, but she asks Dex to keep her OCD a secret. Dex promises to do so, but desperately worried that she needs help, Dex betrays her trust and spills to Liam. Liam tries to confront April and she realises Dex told.

Miles and Morag voice their disapproval of Romeo’s reluctance to get his life going after quitting high school. Sick of the constant pressure, Romeo heads to the beach and meets up with Emily, a girl at school who is clearly into him. Glad for the distraction, Romeo goes with Emily to a secluded piece of bushland and they sleep together. Although Romeo quickly loses interest in Emily, she’s completely smitten and Romeo is shocked to discover Emily has changed her Facebook status to ‘in a relationship’ with Romeo. Romeo finds Emily and makes it clear they are not in a relationship. Emily won’t believe it first so Romeo tries to be cruel to be kind, telling her she means nothing to him. But when Indi witnesses this exchange she’s appalled at Romeo’s behaviour and gives him an earful. Romeo is left reeling, and in doubt that he’s messed up – yet again.

Friday episode 5275 - 15/04/11

Miles worries Romeo has become a couch potato with no direction. Romeo resents the pressure to get his life back on track and refuses to help at the shelter, citing he’s waiting to talk to John about a job at the Surf Club. However as fate would have it, Romeo made an enemy of one of the major sponsors of the Surf Carnival when he broke the heart of his daughter, Emily, a few days before. John feels he can’t hire Romeo if it means losing sponsorship money. With no other choice, Romeo spends some time working at the shelter to get Miles off his back. There he witnesses people worse off than him and he wakes up to reality – he doesn’t want to end up like them. Miles suggests Romeo will be okay once he stops wallowing in how he’s messed up his life and starts taking action.

Feeling frustrated she hasn’t been able to talk to Elijah since Grace’s deportation, Leah is even more confused when Colleen asks her for food donations for Elijah’s shelter, put out that she wasn’t asked by Elijah himself. Leah confronts him, demanding to know why he’s been avoiding her. Not ready to go into the real reasons, Elijah snaps at her, explaining he’s been busy with the shelter which is struggling with minimal volunteers and supplies. Leah feels bad for acting the way she did and offers to donate to the shelter. Later Elijah apologises for snapping and explains that he needs to keep his distance while he sorts himself out.

Xavier is getting more elaborate with his lies to impress Miranda. He ropes Dex into making him a fake ID so he can get into the club ‘Laguna’, and he toils endlessly over philosophy text books, so he can act like a philosophy student. On their date, Xavier learns ‘Laguna’ is actually the name of an art exhibition Miranda has taken him to. The façade is going well until Miranda introduces Xavier to her friend Oscar who studies philosophy at Uni. Oscar quickly susses Xavier as a fraud and Xavier removes himself and Miranda from the exhibition. Miranda is confused by the quick exit to the beach, but Xavier spins the situation claiming he’s too mature for clubs and getting drunk and he just wanted to spend some quality time with her. Miranda is impressed and they end up staying the night on the beach. Meanwhile Gina is beside herself, wondering where Xavier’s been all night. She assumes he’s been partying and drinking but when Xavier returns home he tells her the truth about the exhibition and staying on the beach with Miranda. Gina doesn’t buy a word of it and when Xavier leaves the room she checks his jacket for clues to find the fake ID. Xavier is busted.
