View Full Version : Daddy Dennis

Do you think if the IVF treatment goes well Dennis will be a good father? I mean, I know the character has a lot of love to give but it's not uncommon for a person to be neglected and abused as a child to treat their own future kids the same way, is it? It could go either way I think...

Treacle
17-06-2005, 18:18
There is often a trend but just because Dennis was abused it doesn't mean he will abuse his own child. He seemed pretty certain that he wanted to take care of his child when Zoe pretended she was up the duff with it. Mind you he did have doubts about staying especially after hearing the news Zoe was pregnant. He still wanted to go and be with Sharon until he decided to do the decent and honourable thing. Shame that she wasn't really preg with his baby afterall because they would have made fabulous parents. Zoe has so much love to give because she was deprived of so much herself.

I think he'll be a great dad. He'll know how it feels to abandoned and unloved so I don't think he'd do that to his own kid.

Hi Stapler!
Are you looking forward to tomorrow night? We'll destroy them! Are you going?

stapler

Clones? Not fricking allowed! A) I'm working down in Carrickfergus, another Protestant estate so I can't wear either of my tops - I deliver leaflets, aren't I great? lol, and B) Can't catch a lift.

Princess

I was working last week! Raging I missed it, and this'll be the second. Mind you I love Donegal equally as much as Armagh, my bedroom looks so random being half and half hehe.

Had to edit that - I wrote Tyrone instead of Armagh! I might as well prefer England to Ireland in football hehe.

I think he'd be amazing because he can show that child what love really is and he can give it everything he didn't have.

I'm welling up just thinking about that. He's an incredible actor and character, the emotion he shows in his scenes are amazing. Dennis will make a brilliant dad! He has a very good heart, and he loves Sharon to pieces! What Den did to him left a mark, but I don't think he will let this effect the relationship he has with his child. He will want to make his baby's life as happy and easy as possible.

stapler
17-06-2005, 22:40
I think it will be hilarious actually. Not the Dennis and child part, that will be emotional, but the Nigel Harman and child part... my mate has this clip of him holding either Kacey Ainsworth or Jess Wallace's (can't remember) baby at arms length and looking all awkward and then practically throwing it back at her once she was ready to put him out of his misery lol. Poor bloke, I guess that wasn't just acting with Baby Freddie then. Awww.

Jade
17-06-2005, 23:33
I think he will go one way or another, ie Dens obsessive/disfunctional relationship with Sharon or he will be the best Dad in the Square, he's got the capabilities to be either.

Treacle
17-06-2005, 23:47
It would be nice to see them have a baby but it's impossible. Sharon can't even have IVF, she can't carry a baby due to her womb problem.

I reckon you might be right he's seems the kind of guy who would but not just cos he's pleased that he's a dad it will all be about him and Sharon as well and how far they have come

I think Dennis will be a brilliant dad and I can't wait to see it just because he was abused does not mean he'll be a bad parent with him and Sharon together I reckon the child will want for nothing but I've got my heart set on them having twins he he a Mini Den and a Mini Sharon

Dennis is so desperate not to be like his dad that although he'll be firm but fair he's just got to be careful he doesn't end up lettign his feeling towards Den and his hatred at the thought of turning out like him ruin what he and the child could have as father and son/daughter

Its not impossible. Dr Truman said to her that its highly unlikely but anything’s possible.

As far as I know it’s not a womb problem. After Sharon had an abortion she stopped taking her antibiotics and that’s when she developed an infection and told that she couldn't have kids. She tried IVF in America but failed. However it often takes more than one try for it to work. The chances are slim but it’s not impossible. :)

Yes that would be a really bad idea, and I don't think Sharon would want that, or Dennis for that matter. There's not much in a name, it doesn't determine how well a child turns out, but I think it would seem to most people it was history repeating it's self. They should start afresh with something pretty (if it's a girl), but distinctive. Like Regan or Isobella, something like that.

That's for certain! Den was the worst dad he could possibly have. The only good thing about it for Dennis, was that he eventually met Sharon and Vicky, who have loved and supported him ever since they first met. And of course Sharon ended up being the love of his life! So that is something he could be thankful for. Although I'm sure Den wouldn't except his thanks for that!

Dennis would make an excellent father, as you said he knows what not to do! And having a family is very important to him, he would not want to mess it up. He has very big emotional problems that have effected his life in so many ways. Along with having Sharon in his life, a baby could also help him come to terms with everything. Being loved and loving others is very important to your development as a person, and I think Dennis is beginning to progress. Having a baby would only make it better for him, I'm hoping!

Yes, so Freya relates to their relationship because of Sharon's infertility etc. What other names do you think relates to them? A name that means strong and confident. Or they could just go for something like Hope or Patience, because the baby wouldn't be there without it.

I feel the exact opposite to that, I think Dennis is excellent father material. He's got a lot of love to give, and he likes babies, seeing him around Louise, Bobby and Freddie it made my heart melt. Most men have to warm to the idea of becoming a father, but I don't think Dennis will find it that difficult. He'll be great!

It was all Den and Zoe's doing! They ruined Sharon and Dennis's relationship (for a while), and they manipulated him into staying by lying about Zoe being pregnant by him. Dennis didn't have any obligation to tell Zoe or Den anything about where or what he was doing, Zoe and Den gave up the right to care when they slept together behind Dennis's back.

Do you mean for the writers to bring in a child for Dennis that belongs to another woman other than Sharon? I wouldn't like that. What Dennis and Sharon have got together is great and having Dennis father somebody else's baby would be ruining that. A baby between Dennis and Sharon would be something special, a dream come true, something which seemed impossible and a gift when it finally arrived. Him having a product of a one night stand wouldn't bode well with Sharon, it would be like her father all over again.

I really hope Sharon and Dennis have a baby together for all the reasons I just mentioned. They would make loving parents.
