Shepherd signs six-figure Corrie deal

Jack P Shepherd has signed a six-figure one-year deal to continue playing David Platt in Coronation Street.

The 23-year-old actor will reportedly pocket £100,000 for carrying on his character's bad boy antics in the ITV1 soap.

An insider told the News of the World: "He's one of the stalwarts of the show now."

Shepherd, who first joined the show in 2000, admitted last year that he wanted to stay on the soap for the foreseeable future.

"I don't see why I couldn't be here in another ten years," he said. "By then he could own the Rovers or Underworld, or be an out-and-out thug. He could go either way."

Dont get me started about footballers wages.

I just think about how many nurses we could pay with the average footballers wage or how long the average squaddie lying in a ditch in Afghanistan would have to serve to earn the amount these overpaid twats earn per week

Jack P. Shepherd and his long time girlfriend, Lauren Shippey are planning their wedding but it probably won't take place until next winter. Having said that, they're looking at winter themed ideas, inspired by the opening of the North Pole Bar in Manchester which they attended recently.

At the same event, ITV Corrie staff were celebrating the stag do for one of Corrie's PR officers, Stuart King. They all dressed up in a "nerd" theme. Let's hope Stuart's upcoming wedding theme is a bit more elegant
