CheatEnders star Neil McDermott cheats on wife with 16-year-old girl
EastEnders heartthrob Neil McDermott *cheated on his wife with a star-struck 16-year-old fan – just weeks after the birth of his first child.
Neil, 30, who plays Ryan Malloy in the soap, bedded the teenager – 14 years his junior – while his wife Michelle was at home looking after their newborn daughter.
Last night the shamed actor issued a heartfelt apology as he desperately tried to save his three-and-a-half-year marriage and keep his young family *together.
Speaking to the Sunday Mirror, he said: “I am so sorry: To my wife, *daughter and our family for this *betrayal. I love my wife and family dearly and I’m distraught that my life is now in tatters due to a stupid *mistake.
“I’ve no excuse for my actions but I had no idea the girl wasn’t over 18 as we met in a nightclub. Either way, I’ve caused heartache to those I love most which I deeply regret.
“This was a one-off incident but I’ve let myself down as well as my wife and everyone who knows me. Now I just need privacy and time to do all I can to rebuild my family.”
His betrayal of sweetheart Michelle, 29, who he met when he was just 19, comes two weeks after they opened their home for a glossy Hello! magazine shoot to show off six-week-old Arabella Betsy.
The doting father – whose character Ryan had a baby with Stacey Slater despite being in a relationship with Janine Butcher – posed for a series of *heartwarming family snaps with Michelle and their child.
But family was the last thing on his mind when he made an appearance at Glam nightclub in Stockton-on-Tees last Saturday.
Neil, who recently spoke about how his job mirrors his life, lived up to his on-screen, love-rat persona and *immediately started *eyeing up the 16-year-old beauty, who we have decided not to name.
He was on stage signing autographs and playing a Blind Date-style game when she caught his *eye.
The girl told a friend: “Ryan just started staring at me through the crowd. It was so obvious that *another girl, who I didn’t even know, turned to me and said, ‘He keeps looking at you’.”
And it did not take long before Neil got the chance to make his move on the student as she paid £5 to go on stage and have her photo taken with him.
She told her friend: “I was a bit starstruck to be honest as I love EastEnders and I’ve always really fancied Neil’s character Ryan.
“I was very drunk, but he was really nice and friendly and not sleazy at all. He just kept smiling at me. At one point he started telling me about his wife and baby.
“As I was leaving the stage, he said he was going to The Parkmore Hotel and that I had to leave with his people. I remember he kept *repeating, ‘The Parkmore, The *Parkmore’.” Just before 4am, the girl got into a cab and made the five-minute trip to the hotel, where Neil was waiting at the bar.
The friend said: “He came out to meet her and said, ‘Pretend you’re my cousin’. They went in and sat at the bar and he ordered them a drink. Not long after, Neil said, ‘Are you coming to my room?’
“She immediately said yes. Even though she’d only just met him she said it seemed as though they’d known each other for years. He was really lovely and she really fancied him.
“He opened up to her but when she tried to talk about EastEnders, he didn’t like it. She got the impression he didn’t want to think she was just with him because he is in the show.”

When they arrived at Neil’s hotel room, the actor opened the door and led her in. The friend said: “He sat down on a chair by the window and lit up a *cigarette, but she was still a bit nervous so she stayed standing.
“They started chatting about the girls at the club who had been flashing their boobs at him and getting him to sign them. Then he started telling her he’d spotted her in the crowd and had fancied her from the moment he saw her.
“All of a sudden he said, ‘I’m going to bed’. They lay down on the bed and ended up having sex.”
The next morning, Neil got up early and started readying himself for the long drive back to family in Surrey.
The girl’s friend said: “He went to the bathroom to have a shower and clean his teeth, then he came and sat down next to her on the bed.
“She asked him if he felt bad about having sex with her. He said, ‘It’s been done now’ which seemed a bit cold. But then he said ‘I’ve never done this before’ and she has told me she believed him.
“At that point she said he seemed really sad so she asked him what was the matter. He didn’t answer, instead he just looked away and carried on getting his stuff together.”
When he was ready to leave he turned to the girl and said, ‘Good luck, see you later’. They did not swap numbers and have not had contact since.
Neil met wife Michelle at London’s Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts when he was 19 and she was 18. They have been *together ever since and married at Airth Castle, Stirlingshire, in 2007.
In his Hello! interview Neil, who has the date of his wedding day tattooed on his body so he “never forgets”, spoke gushingly about his devotion to his family. Describing fatherhood, he said: “It’s a love like nothing else; she is so precious. Patsy Palmer told me, ‘Get ready to feel a love like you have never felt before’ and she’s absolutely right. It’s unbelievable.”
Since joining *EastEnders two years ago, his character Ryan has become a firm favourite and starred in a number of gritty *storylines.
Last June, *Stacey *Slater (Lacey Turner) gave birth to his love-child and just three months later he married Janine (Charlie Brooks). But in December she poisoned him and held him captive after finding out about the affair.
Neil has enjoyed a dramatic rise to fame since joining EastEnders as good-looking romeo Ryan two years ago.
And he is set for an even more prominent role in the soap in the coming months when he leads the search for younger sister Whitney Dean (Shona McGarty), who becomes a prostitute.
But the revelation that he cheated on his wife is likely to dent his reputation among fans. Last night one of his friends said: “Neil is absolutely *devastated. He cannot believe he has been so stupid. This is not the way he usually behaves and he won’t make a mistake like this again.”
The Liverpool-born star was not *always destined for a life on screen. When he was growing up, he looked set to become a professional footballer.
He was signed by Chelsea youth team and was on their books until he was 16. When he realised he might not make the grade, he quit and went to drama school where, after a couple of years, he met Michelle.
He has starred in Doctor Who, *Casualty, Rosemary and Thyme, the film Goal! and various West End productions *including The Sound of Music.
But it was not until April 2009, when he landed his dream job at EastEnders, that he truly hit the big time.

The 16-year-old girl who EastEnders actor Neil McDermott cheated on his wife with has revealed details of the night they spent together.

Yesterday, the 30-year-old - Ryan Malloy in the BBC soap - issued an apology to his wife Michelle for his betrayal, which occurred just weeks after she had given birth to their baby daughter.

Speaking to The Sun, Chloe Peebles described how the pair had met in Stockton nightclub Glam, where McDermott was making a personal appearance.

"I've always thought Neil was gorgeous. When he came on stage, girls kept asking, 'Why does Neil keep looking at you?'" she said. "I hadn't even noticed, but later I bumped into him and he said, 'Oh, it's you, from the front of the stage - come and have a picture'."

The fashion student revealed that the actor had invited her back to his £60-a-night hotel, but insisted that they left the club separately.

"He said we couldn't go together in case we got photographed, so I left after him in a cab. When I got to the hotel, he met me and whispered, 'Pretend you're my cousin'," she explained. "I said, 'OK, I've only come for a quick drink'. But I could tell he had other things on his mind."

She continued: "We chatted a bit about the club, but he didn't mention his family. Then he said, 'I'm going to bed - are you coming?' He started taking his clothes off. His body was amazing. I was thinking, 'Oh my god, oh my god'. We got into bed and he leant over and kissed me really passionately. We just couldn't stop from there.

"Afterwards we fell asleep, and Neil held me the whole time. I felt safe. He wrapped his arms round me and we slept face-to-face, inches from each other."

Discussing the following morning, she said: "We couldn't get enough of each other. The sex was as good in the morning as when we were drunk. He was very passionate, but gentle with me too. Afterwards we lay in bed talking. He asked how old I was and I told him. He seemed a bit shocked. He said he thought I was about 23.

"As we snuggled up, he spoke a bit about his wife. I didn't even know he had a wife. He also mentioned he'd just had a baby. I felt terrible, I didn't want to be a home-wrecker. But he said he didn't regret doing what he did as it was too late anyway."

The teenager's mother Natasha added: "I was furious when Chloe told me about this - she shouldn't have been there in the first place.

"I didn't know she was going to Glam. I don't approve of it at all. She won't be going anywhere for the foreseeable future - I'll be keeping a firm eye on her."

I think in common with most ''stars'' he thinks he can do as he likes. Do they not for one moment stop to think that there will always be someone who will want to tell their pals they have bedded a soap star or footballer and then when they discover it wasnt really love they go to the tabloids. In the case of the stars it really is a case of the d**k ruling the brain

EASTENDER Neil McDermott moved out of his marital home yesterday without his wedding ring - following an illicit romp with a 16-year-old.
The love-rat, 30, stalked out with a bin liner full of belongings, appearing to indicate his four-year marriage is at an end.

McDermott bedded soap fan Chloe Peebles in a budget hotel room two weeks ago while wife Michelle Edwards was at home with their newborn daughter.

Yesterday there was no sign of devastated Michelle, 29, at their two-bedroom mid-terrace home in Sutton, Surrey.

Asked how he was as he left, an emotional-looking McDermott just shook his head.

The two-timer - Albert Square's Ryan Malloy - had arrived at the £250,000 pad at lunchtime with an older woman believed to be mum Sharon, 57. They stayed inside for three hours before emerging with McDermott carrying his gear. They then headed off together in his black VW Jetta.

The Sun told yesterday how the BBC1 star met student Chloe when he appeared at a club in Stockton, Cleveland, last month.

He posed for a snap - wearing his wedding band - with the teenager before inviting her back to his £60-a-night room.

After his fling was revealed, McDermott apologised to Michelle and tiny Arrabella Betsy, born six weeks ago. He said: "I've caused heartache to those I love most, which I deeply regret."

The couple have been together since meeting as teenagers.

Chloe said she had no idea the actor was married until after their passionate session. She told The Sun: "I felt terrible. I didn't want to be a home-wrecker."

SOAP legend Larry Lamb has blamed the pressure of acting in EastEnders for Neil McDermott cheating on his wife.
He reckons the soap's plotlines made Neil's Albert Square character Ryan Malloy too similar to the actor's real personality.

That, combined with the temptations of fame, left him losing his grip on reality - and romping with a 16-year-old fan at a budget hotel. Larry, 63, who has written his autobiography, Mummy's Boy, since being bumped off as evil Archie Mitchell last year, said of Neil: "What a silly boy! It is so dangerous, all that.

"They hire you because you are like the person they figure is the character, but then the character can take over.

"If you're playing a young guy who's a Jack The Lad with the girls, where does it stop? It's very difficult for the young fellas."

Neil's soap character Ryan last year married Janine Butcher but had a baby with Stacey Slater after a one-night stand.

In real life he met fan Chloe Peebles at a nightclub and romped with her while his wife was at home with their newborn daughter. The Sun told this week how she kicked him out of the marital home.

However, despite Larry's fatherly disproval of Neil's mistake, he admitted in his younger days he was desperate to bed as many women as possible. And he is grateful the height of his fame came in "early old age".
He said: "I'm not now, but I was brought up to be a misogynist by my father. Women were game. Absolutely. I was a hunter, trained by an old Victorian hunter. I certainly had my share and several other people's. No. I'm not starting to commit to numbers but I certainly got among it."

Larry became a household name after joining EastEnders and found women were attracted to his baddie character.

He said: "I should be so lucky, aged 63, to be a sex symbol. It's a bit late now! They'd have had to chain me down in my younger days. It's nice when people tell you they love you but you have to take it in the right spirit. It's a laugh."

Larry is grateful he was a late bloomer and had learned to deal with fame before EastEnders and his role as Mick in Gavin & Stacey came along.

He said: "Without any shadow of a doubt I was better equipped to deal with it. It's difficult to prepare people.

"There are all these guys reading it about themselves that they're heart-throbs and it's a very confusing time for them.
"I've been knocking around for more years than most of them have been alive and have read all that blah about being a sex symbol. But at the end it disappears and you're not a sex symbol."

Larry admits he doesn't have all the answers but he wants bosses to think of ways to help young actors and actresses cope with the attention they get.

He said: "It's very difficult to prepare people for this. It's an interesting question. Should there be people who actually counsel people about that? There is no one to do it. In a funny way I would like young people to read my book Mummy's Boy. I've written a lot about my discoveries of being an actor. It ain't all fun."

He added: "If nothing else, the entertainment industry should come with a massive health warning."
Once Larry had been on EastEnders he found his fame was worse than when he appeared in movies like Buster back in the 1980s.

He said: "If you're a Hollywood star you could walk around anywhere in London and no one would know who you were unless you wanted to get noticed. But if you're in a soap opera, you've got to cover up because everybody knows who you are. Disproportionate? It's unreal."

However, Larry insists he has always enjoyed attention. He said: "The thing is, most of the time being recognised is a great sort of appreciation of what you do and at the end of the day everybody likes to be appreciated for what they do."

Cheeky Larry even admitted he's had relationships with actresses he's worked with before, but insists he won't tell who.

He said: "There were various times during my complicated life and there were relationships with various actresses - but I don't kiss and tell."

Larry's exit from EastEnders saw a whopping 20million viewers tune in - catapulting his character into soap history.

But he admits he would liked to have stayed and that his exit sparked Barbara Windsor's decision to leave her role as iconic Cockney landlady Peggy Mitchell.

He said: "According to Barbara, one of the key reasons she left is because I went. If I'd have stayed maybe she wouldn't have left. It upset her when I said they'd let me go, She was just not happy about that. But I knew it would end."

Larry admits he stopped watching EastEnders after Barbara left.
He said: "I've lost interest now she's not in it any more. That character was the keystone to the show. Now she's gone, I just think, 'Oh...'."

Leaving EastEnders gave Larry enough time to write his book. And the biggest critic he had to face was his son, George, who is a DJ and TV presenter best known for hosting Big Brother's Little Brother.

Relieved Larry said: "George, I'm extremely pleased to say, really loved it and if there is anyone to criticise me it's him. If he hadn't liked it he would be very blunt about it."

The teenage girl who slept with married EastEnders actor Neil McDermott has spoken of her regret at their night together.

It was revealed last weekend that McDermott - Ryan Malloy in the BBC soap - had cheated on his wife with 16-year-old Chloe Peebles just weeks after the birth of his first child.

Speaking to the Evening Gazette, Peebles insisted that she had not sold the story to the Sunday newspaper who published details of their encounter.

"All I want is everyone to know I didn't sell the story," she told the paper. "I'm deeply sorry, I didn't want this to happen. I didn't know he was married and he had a baby. I'm so sorry to my family and friends as well."

Peebles said that having the story published was the "last thing" she wanted, adding: "I was devastated. I didn't want to hurt his wife or her family. I felt guilty, I didn't want to be known as that type of person."

EastEnders star Neil McDermott has reportedly been taken back by wife Michelle.

The actor, who plays Ryan Malloy in the BBC One show, cheated on her in February with 16-year-old fan Chloe Peeble after meeting her in a nightclub.

Michelle, who has been with McDermott since they were teenagers and has a four-month-old daughter with him, initially kicked the soap star out, but has now decided to give him a second chance by moving into a new £300,000 home in Datchet, Berkshire, the Sunday Mirror reports.

A source told the paper: "It will take a long time before they are back to being the happy couple they were," adding that relations are currently "extremely strained".

McDermott said at the time of his infidelity: "I am so sorry to my wife, *daughter and our family for this betrayal. I love my wife and family dearly and I'm distraught that my life is now in tatters due to a stupid *mistake.

"I've no excuse for my actions but I had no idea the girl wasn't over 18 as we met in a nightclub. Either way, I've caused heartache to those I love most which I deeply regret. This was a one-off incident but I've let myself down as well as my wife and everyone who knows me."

EastEnders star and alleged adulterer Neil McDermott has decided to leave the show after two years in Walford, it has been announced.

The actor's character Ryan Malloy is being lined up for a "dramatic" exit storyline which will air later in the year, the Daily Star Sunday reports.

An EastEnders spokesperson told the newspaper: "We can confirm Neil is leaving EastEnders. It was a mutual decision that was made before Christmas when Neil's contract came up for renewal and we wish him all the best for the future.

"His exit storyline will be dramatic and fans will not be disappointed."

Ryan Malloy's final EastEnders storyline will see him go on the run following an explosive showdown with evil pimp Rob Grayson, a report has claimed.

The Queen Vic barman is bowing out from the BBC soap as Neil McDermott has decided to leave the role after two years.

McDermott and his screen sibling Shona McGarty have now been pictured shooting emotional farewell scenes as the show's on-location filming in Southend, Essex continues.

According to The Sun, Ryan decides to flee following a massive fight with Rob on the pier at the seaside resort.

Fearing that the police will catch up with him for what he has done to Rob, Ryan reportedly says goodbye to half-sister Whitney before doing a runner. Whitney is believed to help him by securing some cash to assist his getaway plan.

In the storyline, Whitney was sexually exploited by Rob earlier this year, leaving Ryan furious when he later found out what had happened. Jody Latham has reprised his role as Rob to conclude the plot.

Malloy's exit scenes are expected to air later in the summer.

Shona McGarty has admitted that she was in "hysterics" when EastEnders co-star Neil McDermott filmed his final scenes.

The actor announced his departure from the BBC soap in June. McDermott's exit as Ryan Malloy transpires as Whitney comes face-to-face with pimp Rob Grayson (Jody Latham) in Southend.

"Fatboy calls Ryan, who then turns up in Southend," McGarty told Digital Spy. "Whitney is so happy that Ryan is there and she thinks that everything will be okay now. But all I can say is that everything goes horribly wrong…"

Reports have suggested the outcome of a dramatic showdown between Ryan and Rob, filmed on location in Southend, Essex earlier in the summer.

"In Ryan's last scene, Whitney is absolutely devastated and she cannot stop crying," the actress said. "But I felt the same way and when they called 'cut', I couldn't stop crying! I was in hysterics - I was so upset."

Despite the drama, McGarty said that the cast had "absolutely loved" filming in the seaside resort.

"But after a really long and hard day's filming - where we'd be shouting, screaming and trying to find that dark place inside of our characters - we'd all sit down for a nice meal in the evening and chill out," she said.

"We'd run lines together and we all really bonded, actually. We do bond in the studio, but at the same time we're all rushing around and sometimes just passing each other in the hallway. But in Southend, it was really, really nice - we all got on so well. Everyone sat down together - make-up, lighting, camera - and we all really got to know each other."
