POP legends THE MONKEES are reuniting for a 10-date British tour - 45 years after they first got together.
Three of the band's original members - DAVY JONES, MICKY DOLENZ and PETER TORK- will play a series of gigs in May.

The fourth member, MIKE NESMITH, will not be taking part in the concerts.

Tickets for the tour, which includes dates in Liverpool, Manchester, Glasgow, Cardiff Birmingham and London's Royal Albert Hall, go on sale on Friday.

The Monkees - now in their 60s - were put together in 1966 for a TV show and went on to have nine Top 40 hits, including I'm A Believer and Pleasant Valley Sunday.

At first critics blasted the band for being too manufactured, but the lads eventually proved themselves, writing more of their own songs.

They even starred in a 1960s cult movie called Head with JACK NICHOLSON.

My brother met Mickey Dolenz in Florida , he said he was the coolest guy he ever did meet, my sis met Peter Tork last fall she was disapointed how he treated his fans, after seeing him on One Show I can see why...Davy was every ones "dream guy"..I had their posters in my bedroom until I went off to University..Mike Nesmith went off to do his own thing..and stuck with it, ...." I always thought love was true in fairy tales,, meant for some one else,,, but not for me..love was out to get me..thats the way it seemed ,,disapointment haunted all my dreamssssssssssss..then I saw her face now I am a believerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr Not a trace of doubt in my minddddddddd I'm in love,, I'm a believer..I couldn't leave her even if I tried........................ ahhhhhhhhhh the 60's yep I was 15 when these guys came on scene.. to some Americans, they were our answer to the British Beatles.. of course we know that isn't true :-)

I know like everything it's all a matter of taste, but, speaking personally, I can't see how anyone could prefer the Monkees over the Beatles. Yes, the Monkees were pleasant, but the Beatles were just sensational, amazing, astounding, marvellous, exciting, thrilling, breathtaking, magnificent, wonderful, incredible, stunning, fantastic, fabulous, superb, awe-inspiring, remarkable, mind-boggling, cool, groovy and out of this world.

Just my carefully considered opinion of course.
