Chesney Battersby-Brown gets caught up in a baby shocker.

The ginger teen, played by Sam Aston, 17, is stunned when girlfriend Katy Armstrong says she wants a baby.

At first Chesney believes neither of them is ready but Katy (Georgia May Foote, 19) convinces him and he starts looking for a flat for them to rent.

His sister Fiz (Jennie McAlpine, 26) is far from impressed.

A show insider said: “After just having a child herself she knows how hard it is.

“She doesn’t want him ruining his life by becoming a dad when he’s still a kid.”

Coronation Street teenager Chesney Brown is to become a father in a forthcoming shock storyline.

It was previously reported that Chesney, played by 17-year-old Sam Aston, will be left to ponder girlfriend Katy's (Georgia May Foote) proposal of starting a family together, but the News of the World now claims that the decision will be made for him when his partner produces a positive pregnancy test during a romantic meal.

Confronted with the news, a teary-eyed Chesney will supposedly declare: "I can't believe how lucky I am. This is all I've ever wanted. We'll be a proper family."

A Coronation Street source commented: "Things will certainly change for the little misfit everyone loved. Soon he'll be living in a flat with Katy and his dog Schmeichel, with a kid on the way."

Aston first joined the ITV soap in 2003. His on-screen sister Fiz gave birth to her first child, baby Hope, amongst the chaos of the Weatherfield tram disaster in December.

Coronation Street actress Georgia May Foote has explained why her teen character Katy Armstrong is so desperate for a baby.

Katy told boyfriend Chesney Brown (Sam Aston) that she wanted to start a family with him last month, and will soon have some life-changing news for him as she reveals that she is pregnant.

Discussing the reasons behind her alter ego's parenthood ambition, Foote told Take It Easy: "Her mum abandoned her and she's never really had a proper family. Chesney's the same. His mum was a waste of space and he doesn't know his dad, so he's never experienced that family atmosphere either.

"They both feel like they're missing out on something, so Katy came up with the idea of having a baby and moving out of home."

Pondering how Chesney and Katy's families will feel about their surprising news, she added: "I'm not sure how Fiz will react because she's always looked after Chesney and been there for him. I think it'll definitely be a shock.

"Owen, Katy's dad, is going to absolutely flip! He didn't like the fact she has a boyfriend in the first place and now she's settling down and having a baby. This is definitely not what he wanted for her at all."

Sam Aston has predicted that Chesney Brown will prove to be a good father in his new Coronation Street storyline.

Chesney's life will soon change forever when girlfriend Katy Armstrong (Georgia May Foote) announces that she is pregnant with his child. The pair began making plans to start a family together earlier this year.

In an interview with Take It Easy, Aston was asked whether his character is cut out to be a dad.

He replied: "Yes, especially after everything he's been through with being in care and having a pretty useless mum himself. It's made him realise how important it is to always be there for your child and he'll make sure they're number one in his world."

Meanwhile, asked how Chesney's sister Fiz (Jennie McAlpine) will react to the surprising news, he replied: "I think she'll be shocked at first but, like when he announced he was moving out, she'll come round to it."

The 17-year-old, who has been with Corrie since 2003, also insisted that he does not get annoyed when fans of the soap still describe him as "cute".

"I don't mind, I've always had it and I've got used to it," he said. "Graeme Hawley, who plays John Stape, always get shouted out for being a murderer - I just get called cute! I don't think Chesney will ever really grow up in the public's eyes."

Coronation Street star Georgia May Foote has admitted that she's glad the show is tackling a big issue like teen pregnancy.

The actress plays 16-year-old *schoolgirl Katy Armstrong, who has just discovered that she is pregnant with boyfriend Chesney Brown's (Sam Aston) baby.

The 20-year-old insisted that while she doesn't want children just yet, those who do decide to have a family at a young age shouldn't be condemned.

"Everyone has their own choice," she told the Daily Star Sunday. "Personally I'm very career-driven and I'd be really, *really shocked if I found out I was pregnant but my sister is 23 and she's just had a baby and she's wanted one since she was really young.

"A lot of girls at my school had babies as soon as they left and half of them were planned, so it's a big issue. It's good that Coronation Street is tackling the subject and are going to show how Katy and Chesney struggle.

"I'd love to have kids *myself but I'd rather wait until I was older. Katie is more impulsive but I'd rather plan it."

The soap star recently suggested that the couple want a baby because they've both been abandoned by their mothers.

Interview in Star

GEORGIA May Foote is *certainly convincing as on-screen schoolgirl Katy Armstrong – she still gets asked for ID in shops!

Georgia May Foote, 20, is set for a very grown-up storyline when she *decides to have a baby.

But in real life fans still treat her as underage.

“I think it’s because I’m in school uniform,” she laughs. “I thought I’d escaped from that when I left Grange Hill and it does feel funny putting it back on when I’m 20!

“When I’m in Asda buying DVDs I get asked for my ID because they think I must still be a schoolgirl. But I’m in Coronation Street and I love it, so I’m not going to complain.”

She admits she got a shock when she did her first screen kiss.

Still a teenager, she had to get up close and personal with *Chesney (Sam Aston).

“It was in the Rovers Return and Sam was quite nervous,” she says.

“But although I was fine, I could tell everyone was a bit nervous for us, which made it worse.

“We did our first kiss in *rehearsals and when we finished the crew played Let’s Get It On by * Marvin Gaye across the speakers.

“It was hilarious. When you’re *filming a screen kiss you try to do it and then get past it. But they started playing this really smooth romantic music – I was like, ‘I hate you! You mean people!’” she jokes.

“And then we had to kiss again about 20 times because they had to get it from every angle. I’d only been in the show a month and it seemed strange, because although he’s 17 now, I still see Sam as little *Chesney.”

Georgia is at the centre of one of the Street’s most controversial *storylines, as the 16-year-old *schoolgirl and her 17-year-old *boyfriend decide to have a baby *together.

On screen, Katy has just found out she is pregnant and though the *couple are keeping the news secret for now, there are fireworks ahead when their families find out.

Yet Georgia herself refuses to *condemn the teenage sweethearts.

“Everyone has their own choice,” she insists. “Personally I’m very career-driven and I’d be really, *really shocked if I found out I was pregnant but my sister is 23 and she’s just had a baby and she’s wanted one since she was really young.

“A lot of girls at my school had babies as soon as they left and half of them were planned, so it’s a big issue.
“It’s good that Coronation Street is tackling the subject and are going to show how Katy and Chesney struggle.

“I’d love to have kids *myself but I’d rather wait until I was older. Katie is more impulsive but I’d rather plan it.”

Georgia, from Bury, Lancs, is currently *getting a house with civil *servant boyfriend John, who she met at school aged 15.

She says: “When I was kissing Chesney, John said it was what I had to do. When it comes on he makes a cup of tea – if he can avoid it he will but he *understands it’s part of the job.”

Coronation Street teen Katy Armstrong will consider having an abortion as her pregnancy storyline continues, a report has claimed.

According to the Daily Star, the schoolgirl will start to be swayed by her strict father Owen (Ian Puleston-Davies) in the coming weeks when he advises her that she is too young to be a parent.

Katy (Georgia May Foote) is expected to have second thoughts about motherhood when boyfriend Chesney Brown disappears in an upcoming plot, causing her to fear that he has abandoned her.

However, in a twist, the real reason for Chesney's disappearance is that he is being held hostage in a cellar by his crazed brother-in-law John Stape.

With Chesney not around, Owen reportedly tells Katy that his absence proves they are out of their depth. Finally listening to her father, Katy agrees to visit an abortion clinic.

However, on the day of Katy's appointment, Chesney's sister Fiz apparently discovers his whereabouts and John's involvement in the shock cellar incident. She then informs Chesney of what his girlfriend is planning.

Insiders say that Chesney will then face a race against time as he tries to see Katy before she goes through with her plan to terminate the pregnancy.

A Weatherfield source told the newspaper: "John has caused the death and destruction of so many lives. Could Katy's unborn baby be yet another victim? Or maybe Chesney will get to her in time."

Katy told Chesney that she is pregnant in last Friday's double bill of the soap.

Georgia May Foote has reassured her fans that she's not leaving Corrie.

The 20-year-old joined the soap as Katy Armstrong, now an expectant mum, nine months ago and is fast becoming one of the show's most popular characters.

Georgia is eager to ease any fears that she's departing the soap, saying: "Just want to say I'm not leavin Corrie as far as I know."

The Lancashire-born actress honed her craft in Doctors and Casualty before playing Weatherfield's Jess Burrows for a very short stint in January last year.

She may have no problems in the popularity stakes, but when it comes to getting from A to B while applying her make-up it's a very different story.

"Trying to put lipgloss on when walkin is not easy! I now have lovely glossy nostrils," she Tweeted.

Coronation Street star Sam Aston has predicted that people will always see him as "little" Chesney Brown.

The actor, who joined the soap in 2003, told The People that most of his fans are old women who find him cute.

He laughed: "He's about to become a dad but even so I'm sure people will still see me as little Ches. I've always had the same reaction on the female front. I get the old ladies, rather than the young ones. It's dead sad.

"I could be an old man hobbling round with a walking stick and people would still say, 'Aaah, there's little Ches', and pat me on the head. I'm not complaining though. I've been in the show since I was little so I suppose that's how a lot of people still see me. It's nice there's so much affection for him."

Speaking of Chesney and girlfriend Katy's current teenage pregnany plot, he added: "Chesney's normally a sensible lad and I'm sure he'll try his best to be a good dad but they could struggle once the baby is born and reality kicks in."

Aston recently teased that fans can expect "fantastic" exit scenes for John Stape.

Coronation Street's explosive week of episodes reached its dramatic conclusion tonight as the John Stape saga came to an end and the McDonalds' marriage lay in tatters.

Here, are recent spoilers, rumours and speculation and provides a one-stop guide to what's next for the characters who took centre stage this week.

Chesney and Katy
A bit less is known about this story strand, but with the possibility of an abortion for Katy no longer on the cards, it looks like the teenage couple will indeed be welcoming a baby.

Sam Aston, who plays Chesney, has spoken positively about the storyline, predicting that his character will be a good father following his own troubled upbringing.

Jennie McAlpine also recently praised Corrie bosses for giving Chesney bigger storylines, telling Digital Spy: "Sam's so grown-up now, he's not my 'little brother' anymore. It's great that he's doing his own things now. It looks like he could have his own family, he's flown the nest and he needs nothing from Fiz now!"

Another prospect on the cards seems to be Fiz, Chesney, the Armstrongs and the Windasses all coming together to share more screen time due to the connections and relationships between them.

In this week's Inside Soap, Corrie's series editor Louise Sutton explains: "Now Gary and Izzy are a couple, we're drawing together a bit of a hybrid family. You've also got Katy and Chesney in the mix, too - and Anna has been a big support to Katy with her pregnancy drama."

She added: "Like many a dad with a 16-year-old daughter would be, Owen's totally against Katy becoming a mother so young. He's deeply protective of his girls, but doesn't realise that the more he pulls them towards him, the more they'll strive to get away. Anna is going to act as a moderating influence within the family."

DEVASTATED Chesney Battersby will be left fearing his unborn baby is disabled in a shock new plot.

The teenager and girlfriend Katy Armstrong are due to become parents on Christmas Day.

But we can reveal that they face an anxious wait to see if their tot will be forced to spend its life in a wheelchair.

Medics believe the that couple’s child may be born with the hereditary Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome that already confines Katy’s sister Izzy (Cherylee Houston, 35) to a wheelchair.

Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, for which there is no known cure, is a group of disorders that shares common features including easy bruising, loose joints and weaknesses of the tissues.

In scenes to be screened later this month, excited Chesney (Sam Aston, 17) and Katy’s dad Owen will be at hospital whilst she has a scan.

And Chesney is over the moon with pride and delight when he sees their baby moving on the screen.

But the happy family mood is shattered when Owen (Ian Puleston-Davies, 51) asks a nurse whether there’s a risk that the baby could be born with the syndrome and the nurse sadly confirms it is a strong possibility.

The young lovers are devastated at the prospect of their child also being a sufferer.

But Owen reassures them that he’ll be there for them and will do whatever it takes to help them deal with it.

He tells Katy (Georgia May Foote, 20): “Just look at our Izzy.

“She lives a completely normal and happy life and what baby could ever have a better role model than her to look up to?

“And whatever happens I’ll be here for both you and the baby.”

The suspense of whether the child will inherit the syndrome will carry on right up the baby’s Christmas birth.

It will be a centrepiece of the festive season’s cliff-hanger storylines.

Viewers will be on the edge of their seats awaiting the outcome of tests on the newborn tot and will be desperate for the result to be for the best.

Coronation Street delivers some festive cheer next week as Katy Armstrong welcomes the arrival of her baby son Joseph Peter.

Katy goes into labour at the Weatherfield community centre in a week's time, just as she is busy acting out the role of Mary in the local nativity play.

As the production reaches the birth scene, the audience are impressed by Katy's realistic portrayal of labour - unaware that it's not a performance at all! When a frantic Katy asks for an ambulance to be called and chaotic scenes follow, will dad-to-be Chesney (Sam Aston) turn up on time for the birth?

Here, Georgia May Foote - who plays Katy - chats to Digital Spy about the storyline.

How do you feel about getting a big Corrie Christmas storyline?
"I was quite shocked when I heard that Katy would be giving birth around Christmas time! I remember when I was reading the scripts and realised that it was going to be one of the main storylines for Christmas. I was excited and just wanted to make sure I did it justice, really."

What can you tell us about the episodes which see Katy give birth?
"It all happens at a Christmas play that Faye is supposed to be taking part in, but in the end, she bottles it - she says that she doesn't know her lines and she doesn't want to do it. The only other person who knows Faye's lines is Katy, as she'd been helping her to prepare, so Sunita and Leanne ask Katy to step in.

"Katy is playing Mary, and just as they're doing the scene where Mary and Joseph are asking if there's any room at the inn, Katy begins to feel a bit hot and she starts getting pains. Soon after that, she realises that she's in labour and it all goes from there!"

Is Katy scared during the labour or has she prepared herself for it?
"Well, she's definitely quite shocked and the fact that there's so many people there makes her nervous at first, but she always knew the baby was due around this time. She's a little bit scared that she's not giving birth at a hospital, which is where she'd feel most comfortable. Obviously you don't expect to be giving birth in the middle of a play!"

Is there a comedy aspect to the birth scenes too?
"Yeah, there definitely is. When I was reading the scripts, I was thinking, 'Giving birth as Mary in a stable - you can't get any more cheesy!' But it's been done in a really nice way. It's a bit tongue in cheek and a bit of a joke, but at the same time it's going to be really nice to watch. There's some really nice scenes."

Chesney also faces a bit of a race against time in the episodes…
"Yeah, you see how Chesney is trying to get to the community centre in time for the birth, which is going to be really funny. At the same time as Katy is in labour, Chesney is riding a bicycle trying to get there in time. He's in an elf costume after spending a day working at the garden centre!"

With Chesney absent, does Katy get much support from anyone else?
"Anna is there to support her - she's had a kid herself, so she knows what to expect. And then you'll have to watch and see whether Chesney makes it back in time for the birth!"

How did you feel about filming the labour scenes?
"I was really nervous leading up to doing the scenes, and there was quite a long wait to do them. We filmed the storyline out of sequence, so I filmed quite a lot of scenes which take place after the baby arrives before I'd actually filmed the birth. But then the shoot for these scenes finally came up.

"It was a bit strange, but I had Debbie Rush who plays Anna there with me along with a midwife, and they were both really good and gave me loads of advice. In the end, I was actually quite pleased with how the scenes went - I think they went really well. It definitely wasn't as bad as I thought it would be."

Are you pleased with the choice of baby name - Joseph Peter?
"I'm surprised it's not Jesus! (laughs) They've obviously gone for the next best thing instead by choosing Joseph. It's a nice name, and then they've chosen Peter as a way of remembering Schmeichel the dog, so that's really nice too."

In real life, there's been some babies arriving in your family in the past year, so did that help you with the storyline?
"Yeah, definitely. I was there when my sister went into labour so I got an idea about the contractions and things like that. Also, one of my aunties has just had twins, and then another of my aunties has just had a baby too, and my cousin has as well - so babies just seem to be everywhere at the moment! I'm used to being around newborns, which is quite nice."

How have you found working with the baby?
"It's been really good. I've had a year of looking after baby Hope when she was quite small, so I had a year's worth of practice before this actually happened. I was quite lucky in that respect."

We often expect doom and gloom from the soaps at Christmas, so are you glad to be getting a festive storyline which should have us all smiling?
"Definitely - I think it's going to be really nice. I remember when I was reading the scripts, I was thinking, 'Hang on a minute, this is all a bit too nice - what's going to go wrong?!' But I think that's what they're aiming for - I think it's going to be quite a nice Christmas. Most people are happy and there are some really nice scenes coming up after the birth, where Joseph has been brought home and brings everyone together. The extended family all comes together, so it should be great to watch."

What do you think we can expect from Katy and Chesney in the New Year?
"I think there'll be some struggles for the two of them. Next year, they'll have some problems with money, so Chesney will have to spend a lot of time on the market. That means that Katy will probably struggle a bit as she's looking after the baby on her own. It's not going to be easy for them."

Do you hope they have a strong future as a couple?
"Yeah, I hope so. I think it'd be nice to have a couple on the street who are quite stable and do get on! But this is Coronation Street, so you never really know for sure."

How much help will Katy and Chesney get from their families?
"Well, I don't think Katy minds her dad helping her out, but Chesney really doesn't like the fact that Owen's having to help them all the time. Chesney really wants to be the breadwinner and bring the money home, so he hates it when other people are doing it for them. I think they'll try to do as much as they can by themselves, but Katy definitely doesn't mind getting some money from her dad every now and again!"

Is it strange not to have Schmeichel on set these days?
"Yeah, it is - as when we had scenes with him, he was so big that he'd take up the whole set and he'd knock things over! It is a bit strange. We didn't have him on set all the time, but he'd be there now and again and it was always really nice."

Why was Katy so keen to start a family at such a young age?
"I think the main reason was that her mum wasn't there when she was growing up. It's the same with Ches - his parents weren't really there either. I think they both just want to have that family that they didn't have in the past. They see it as a way to get that complete family that they've always wanted."

How are you finding life at Corrie in general?
"It's been everything I hoped for and more - I really enjoy it. It's like a big family here - it sounds daft as everyone says that, but we all honestly get on so well. When the green room is full, it's such a good laugh and we have some good chats, so I love coming in when it's busy.

"I'm really enjoying my time here - especially now that the storylines are getting really good for us as well. It's brilliant to have something to really sink your teeth into. I've done a lot of television over the years, but I think my acting has definitely changed since I've started on Coronation Street. I think I've become more comfortable, especially as I know my character better - it makes it more effortless and everything flows easier."

Was Sam Aston, who plays Chesney, a big support for you when you first started?
"Definitely. Obviously it's not just the acting side - it's getting to know all of the crew and getting to grips with the schedules. It was really confusing at first, but Sam was always there to help - and he knew everyone's name in the crew, so that was quite handy when I was still learning them all!"

MILLIONS will love watching the birth of Corrie’s baby Joseph at Christmas but for two people it will be uncomfortable viewing.

As Georgia May Foote, who plays Katy Armstrong, goes through the agonies of labour spare a thought for her parents.

It’s been a particularly tough pregnancy for them seeing their daughter play a mum-to-be. Her father Howard was startled when he saw her on the Corrie set.

She says: “Of course, I completely forgot I had my bump on but whenever Dad saw me he’d say: ‘Georgia, it’s really weird.’ He said it was strange seeing his little girl like that.”

Georgia, 20, says: “Mum hasn’t seen me in person with the bump but says its odd watching it on screen.”

Georgia herself is completely unflustered about being a screen mum and relishes every *second with Joseph, played by newborn twins Tommy and Ronnie.

“They’re so cute,” she grins. “One of them was only 4lbs when he was born and they were just nine days old when we started filming so they were absolutely tiny.

“I love babies, I really do and I definitely want to have children of my own.

“My older sister Katie had a baby this time last year, my mum and dad foster and I’ve also spent a lot of time with Hope (Fiz’s baby daughter) so I’m used to having them around. Newborn babies don’t scare me at all.”

But there’s unlikely to be the patter of tiny feet any time soon as ambitious Georgia is adamant that her career comes first for now. “People at work always say the bump really suits me and I say: ‘oh give over’.

“I’d like babies in my late 20s but I think I’ll know when that moment comes – a switch will come on,” she explains. “For now I just want to enjoy my freedom.

“Playing Katy has made me realise just how hard it is to bring up a baby at a young age. She’s a teenager and her life has changed completely.

“What’s brought it home even more is how my life as an actress is completely based around the baby now. Every scene I have is with the baby. It’s given me a taste of motherhood and has it’s definitely made me think.”

Corrie fans will see 17-year-old Katy giving birth just two days before Christmas Day.

The drama happens when Anna Windass’s daughter Faye gets stage fright and runs off, minutes before she is due to appear as Mary in a nativity play.

“Katy had been rehearsing the lines with her. So, as the only other person who knows them, she dons Mary’s scarf and goes on *instead. As she’s acting the birth of Jesus she starts getting pains and everyone says: ‘oh, she’s doing really well – she’s dead good at acting.’ They think she’s taking it a bit seriously but she’s actually gone into labour. They clear the place and call an ambulance but Katy ends up giving birth to baby Joseph in the manger on stage.”

Little Elf from Ches: Katy gives birth in a nativity play with Ches there to help

Meanwhile dad-to-be Chesney, played by Sam Aston, 18, is desperate to make it there on time. He and Gary Windass have taken part-time work, dressed as elves at a garden centre. Gary’s van fails to start but after *finding a bike they pedal furiously in the hope that Chesney will see his baby son’s arrival into the world.

Georgia prepared for the birth scenes by doing research on the internet and by *watching the Channel 4 series One Born Every Minute. She was also in hospital with sister Katie when she gave birth and found that really helpful.

“It was a bit scary seeing so many births but thankfully I was not doing it for real.” Georgia grew up in Bury, Lancs, with her parents Tracy and Howard and two sisters.

She started acting at nine at the local Carol Godby Theatre Workshop and also began working as an extra at Coronation Street.

“I was in a fun run with Michael Le Vell who plays Kevin Webster and in an episode where Rosie was going to drama school.

Swanky

“I was playing Juliet and got to say: ‘Romeo, Romeo.’ I remember rushing home to tell my mum – I was so proud.”

Her first TV role came when she was 12 in the drama Conviction.

“I played a little girl called Angela who was stabbed to death. I was also stabbed in the neck in Casualty and I was in Life on Mars and was strangled in that,” she laughs.

She was luckier in Grange Hill where she spent three years as the nice but shy schoolgirl Alison Simmons. Last year she joined Corrie as Katy, the daughter of builder Owen and sister of factory worker Izzy.

With stunning looks that resemble a young Cheryl Cole and a job in Britain’s biggest show, Georgia should, by rights, be living the high life at nightclubs and swanky showbiz parties by now.

But she sheepishly admits that rather than painting the town red the only painting she’s been doing is at her new two-bedroom house in Bolton, Lancs.

She and her civil servant boyfriend John have spent six months renovating the property and have just moved in.

“We’ve gutted it and started again,” Georgia says proudly.

House proud: Georgia and John

“Me, Dad and my boyfriend ripped the kitchen out and fitted a new one.

“Dad and I did the tiling then I grouted it all, helped put the cupboards together and paint the walls. On a day off from Coronation Street I’d get there first thing in the morning and work until 7pm. It’s a nice feeling to think we’ve done it all ourselves.

“John and I have been together for five years. We were at the same school and have known each other since we were 11 but we had different groups of friends so we didn’t get together until we were 15.”

Despite her stunning looks, Georgia insists she rarely gets fan mail from besotted boys.

“It’s usually young girls sending me pictures of outfits they think I should wear, which is lovely,” she smiles.

“It’s nice to think I might be a bit of a role model.” Yet there is a downside to playing a 17 year old, for people often mistake her for a schoolgirl in real life.

“I still get asked for ID the whole time,” she explains. “I was at an off-licence recently and bought some wine and the lady asked.

“Nowadays its habit – when I get my credit card out to pay I automatically get my ID too, to prove I’m over 18.

“It’s annoying at the moment because I’m trying to buy knives and scissors for my new *kitchen but that’s proving difficult. I’ve had to ask Mum to get them for me.

“I even got questioned at a hardware store buying turpentine to clean my paint brushes.

“The woman asked my age and when I said I was 20 she wouldn’t sell it to me.” While viewers settle down to watch Coronation Street’s festive episodes this coming week, Georgia is hoping her own Christmas will be far more peaceful and much less eventful that Katy and Chesney’s, with a good old-fashioned family get-together.

“It will be a big family Christmas. We’ll open our presents together then go out for a big walk while the dinner’s cooking,” Georgia says.

Turkey

“They’ll all have turkey but I’m not keen so my mum always cooks me a beef or a ham joint. Apparently I’m the fussy one because I don’t like turkey.

“After dinner we always play some daft card games where the two losers have to do a stupid forfeit such as running out in the snow with no shoes.”

Coronation Street's Sam Aston has insisted becoming a father on the soap has not made him broody at all.

In fact the 18-year-old actor, who plays teenage dad Chesney Brown in the show, is feeling quite the opposite after all the stress his character is going through as his troubled girlfriend Katy has abandoned baby Joseph.

Sam told Inside Soap magazine: "I come from a big family and I'm used to having kids around, so working with babies hasn't made me broody at all.

"Anyway, I don't think I could take as much as poor Chesney has! I struggle at acting sometimes, never mind doing it for real!"

Chesney, who was dumped by his mother Cilla when he was young, is working hard to keep his job and look after Katy and the baby.

Sam said: "He wants a proper family unit, since he came from a broken home - and he really wants to stay together with Katy."

Coronation Street star Georgia May Foote has revealed that she would love her character Katy Armstrong to land a job at the Rovers Return in the future.

The actress said that she wants Katy to play a more prominent role on the cobbles as she continues to grow up in Weatherfield.

Foote told the Daily Star of future storylines: "I would love one like Alison King's. She's been brilliant. Something to get my teeth into would be good, and maybe a bit more glamorous, too.

"And I would love Katy to have a job behind the bar in The Rovers. I've worked in a bar so I love that sort of atmosphere and the banter you get from the customers. She's a bit young at the moment, so maybe just collecting glasses.

"The Rovers Return is gossip central. Everything seems to culminate there. I would really like to be in the thick of the action."

16-year-old Katy welcomed the arrival of a baby boy named Joseph at Christmas, but struggled to cope with her new responsibilities in the first few weeks of this year.

Foote commented: "The post-natal depression storyline has been hard and I found the filming very intense. It was quite good because it only ran over a couple of weeks, but I did end up locking myself away until I went on set.

"The Corrie green room is so lively, so if I was to go in there before a scene I couldn't switch to being sad and crying my eyes out on set. I would hide away until the last minute. Post-natal depression happens to so many people, so the pressure to get it right was huge.

"I was going home after a day's filming and feeling really tired and with a headache from the stress of it all. I can't imagine how hard it must be in real life."

Coronation Street airs Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays on ITV1.

Coronation Street's Katy Armstrong will offer to become a surrogate mother for her disabled sister Izzy in an upcoming storyline, a report has claimed.

The teenage mum-of-one makes the suggestion later this year, sparking disapproval from her strict father Owen, according to The Sun.

Coronation Street cast and crew have been spotted filming scenes on location which apparently show Owen (Ian Puleston-Davies) attacking Izzy's boyfriend Gary (Mikey North) after hearing about the idea.

It is currently unknown whether Katy (Georgia May Foote) and Izzy (Cherylee Houston) will go ahead with the plan, or if Owen's disapproval will deter them.

The plot rumours are also likely to spark speculation about a possible sad outcome to Izzy's current pregnancy story. Tonight's episode sees the feisty factory worker begin to share the news that she is expecting a baby.

Katy and boyfriend Chesney Brown (Sam Aston) are already parents to a young son named Joseph, who was born last Christmas.

Owen (Ian Puleston Davies) is at the church for the christening of youngest daughter Katy (Georgia May Foote) and Chesney Brown's son, who was born of Christmas Day.

And Chesney (Sam Aston) doesn't seem too happy that the day descends into chaos as he is seen walking off glumly with Joseph.

Coronation Street actress Georgia May Foote has spoken about her forthcoming surrogacy storyline

Katy gave birth to her first child Joseph last December, and the character has been tipped to act as a surrogate for her sister Izzy (Cherylee Houston) and Gary Windass (Mikey North).

Foote admitted that she hated the fake baby bump she was given when her character Katy was pregnant, telling The Sun: "I'm dreading it - I hated my baby bump last time. The pins stick in your sides and it's so heavy."

Alluding to recent speculation that Katy will become pregnant again, she added: "I never thought for a minute I'd be wearing it again so soon."

Foote also explained that her character's boyfriend Chesney Brown (Sam Aston) will not be happy with the surrogacy idea, explaining that "he is upset she didn't talk to him about it first".

She added that Katy "just wants to help" Izzy after she lost the child she was expecting with Gary, but hasn't "thought through the implications" of surrogacy.

Coronation Street's Sam Aston has suggested that Chesney will face a "struggle" to cope with Katy's upcoming pregnancy plan.

Young dad Chesney's girlfriend Katy Armstrong this Thursday (August 16) offers to be a surrogate to disabled sister Izzy, who lost her baby with Gary Windass last month.

Speaking to ITV.com, the actor teased of the potentially long-running plot: "I think he may struggle with the birth as it would bring back memories of baby Joseph.

"This may lead to problems with giving the baby to Izzy and Gary, as Katy and Chesney may grow attached."

The Weatherfield favourite revealed that his alter ego initially "starts warming to the idea".

Georgia May Foote, who plays Katy, recently told Digital Spy that she doesn't believe her character hasn't "thought it through as much as she could have done".

Details of the storyline first emerged early last month.

I don't think it's too daft, a sister is probably ideal for a surrogate and Katy already knows she's ok carrying a baby, she knows what she's going to have to go through. Maybe they implant via IVF? Can you get that on the NHS, I know you can get IVF but what about for surrogacy? I would just say they're rushing things a bit, but that is the nature of soaps.

Coronation Street character Tina McIntyre (Michelle Keegan) will reportedly be involved in a dramatic baby storyline.

The barmaid will step in to act as a surrogate mother to Izzy Armstrong (Cherylee Houston), according to the Daily Star.

Disabled Izzy has already turned to sister Katy (Georgia May Foote) to help fulfil her dreams of becoming a mother.

However, Izzy and Katy's dad Owen (Ian Puleston-Davies) later forbids his daughters' plans outright.

He then offers a struggling Tina cash in exchange for being a surrogate mother to Izzy's child. Tina's boyfriend Tommy Duckworth (Chris Fountain) is shocked after she tells him of her plans.

Tommy reportedly tells her: "I can't do this for nine months. All I just want is it to be me and you."

Tina replies: "You know that they need us as much as we need them.

"If you want to wipe the slate clean and have the kind of life we want to have, then this has to work. We've got to go to that clinic and keep everything crossed that this works."

A show source added: "It's a massive deal for everyone involved."

Georgia May Foote recently spoke to Digital Spy about the ongoing surrogate mother storyline.

Gary seems to be the driving force for wanting a baby, for a guy who's had military training, he's always got his hands in his pockets, slouching about, putting Izzy under pressure and expecting everyone to do his bidding. He's really getting on my wick. Tina must be nuts if she goes through with the surragacy just to bail that pratt Tommy out., and as for Tommy he needs to stop taking the stupid pills, perhaps go and shack up with Taceyluv ideal match. Can't see what Tyrone can do if Tommy doesn't pay him ? More what Kirsty will do to 'em both !! As already said by Parkerman & Alan WHY?

Coronation Street's Michelle Keegan has discussed how Tina McIntyre's controversial surrogacy may cause big problems between her and Tommy Duckworth (Chris Fountain).

Tina offers to be a surrogate parent for Gary Windass (Mikey North) and Izzy Armstrong (Cherylee Houston), who are struggling to start a family on their own.

Keegan revealed to What's on TV that Tina wants to help out the couple as she is a "nice person", but "first and foremost, she sees she can make some money out of being a surrogate".

"She needs to get her and Tommy out of debt and this is one way she can do that," Keegan explained

The 25-year-old revealed that Tommy is upset when he finds out, saying: "He obviously thought that if and when Tina was to have a baby it would be theirs."

Keegan argued that Tommy demanding her to choose between him and the baby may backfire.

"It's a dangerous ultimatum to put to Tina," she said. "Wanting the money isn't only about Tommy. She saw her father suffer so badly because of his own financial woes and she sees this as a fresh start. She may well choose the surrogacy over Tommy!"

Off the Street, Keegan is currently rumoured to be dating rugby star Mark Flanagan, after splitting with The Wanted's Max George in July.

Coronation Street star Chris Fountain has opened up about Tina's (Michelle Keegan) surrogacy storyline, hinting that it may not be long before Tommy becomes a parent himself.

The actor said that Tina's decision to have a baby for Izzy (Cherylee Houston) will cause further issues among the already-troubled couple, but he hopes they will stay together and start a family of their own.

Asked by Digital Spy at the TV Choice Awards if he believes Tommy and Tina will end up settling down, Fountain replied: "I'd like to think so. Tommy and Tina has been a very slow, gradual thing. It's been great how they've developed it.

"It's quite difficult for Tommy. If your girlfriend or your wife is going to have a baby for someone else, I think that's always going to be an issue and quite a sensitive subject."

He continued: "I think Tommy would like to become a parent, he's said that to Tina already, but it's just a case of whether she's ready or she's going to do this surrogacy thing. It's a big thing at the moment so I'm not too sure how that's going to go."

Keegan recently suggested that Tina may choose becoming a surrogate over being with Tommy.

Coronation Street's Chesney Brown will discover Katy Armstrong's infidelity just hours after proposing to her, reports have claimed.

Chesney (Sam Aston) surprises Katy by popping the question at the Rovers Return next month, according to the Daily Star.

Unfortunately, things turn sour for Chesney later that day when he discovers that Katy has been cheating on him with bad boy Ryan Connor.

Coronation Street star Georgia May Foote has spoken about her character's infidelity storyline for the first time, insisting that cheating Katy Armstrong doesn't mean to hurt her boyfriend Chesney Brown.

Last month, it was revealed that Katy will develop an attraction to bad boy Ryan Connor in upcoming episodes, jeopardising her stable family life with Chesney and their baby son Joseph.

While it's unclear how far things will go between Katy and Ryan, recent scenes shot on location saw the pair sharing secret kisses.

Foote told Daybreak this morning (February 13) that the storyline begins when Katy's friends start teasing her for being 'dull'.

She explained: "It's her friend's 18th birthday, so they're having a party. They all keep taking the mick out of her, saying she's sitting at home and she's boring. She just wants to go out and have fun, and then [Ryan] starts making a bit of a move on her!"

Teasing the upcoming heartbreak ahead for Chesney, the actress continued: "Poor Ches! But poor Katy as well - she has been sat at home with the baby while he's been swanning off to the market. I don't think she means to hurt him, it just happens and it's out of her control, really."

Ryan sees Katy in a new light when he agrees to DJ at her friend's party. He then manages to get Katy a job at the kebab shop, where they grow even closer.

Sol Heras, who plays Ryan, said: "He's never really noticed Katy before, and then he sees her dolled up rather than being a stay-at-home mother. It grabs his attention and it goes from there."

Coronation Street continues tonight (February 13) at 7.30pm on ITV.

Ryan DJs at the 18th birthday party of one of Katy's friends and later makes his move while they're working in the kebab shop.

"He realises how pretty she is and what a gorgeous girl she is. He manages to sort it for her to get a job at the kebab shop and yes he probably does have an ulterior motive.

Foote added: "Katy hasn't really had that teenage wild time because she settled down so early with Chesney.

Corrie star Georgia May Foote has revealed that her character Katy Armstrong will show a manipulative side when she gets jealous over Ryan Connor.

The pair grow closer in the coming days, but when Katy tries to stay loyal to boyfriend Chesney, a rejected Ryan (Sol Heras) turns his attention to her friend Steph instead.

Unhappy with Ryan's new romance, Katy turns ruthless as she plots to break the pair up.

Foote told Soaplife: "Her friend Steph makes a play for Ryan and Katy gets really, really jealous. She actually goes out of her way to ruin it and try to split them up, which isn't very nice.

"[Ryan's] the kind of person who won't wait around for someone when he can have whoever he wants. When Katy told him they shouldn't be doing this, he said that's fine - then went off with Steph instead. When he realises that Katy's been trying to split them up, he asks her what her problem is.

"She suddenly snaps and tells him why she did it - and this leads to a big kiss. Katy and Chesney never really shared any passionate kisses, it's only ever really been more of a peck. But Katy and Ryan are pretty full-on. It's something she's never experienced before."

As Katy begins to give in to temptation with Ryan, she is completely unaware that Chesney is planning to propose to her.

Asked how Katy would feel if she knew this, Foote replied: "I think she'd be absolutely devastated. Deep down she does love Chesney and knows that she should be staying loyal to him. But she's found in Ryan something she hasn't been getting from Chesney."

Pondering whether Katy would marry Chesney, Foote concluded: "Perhaps before this she would have been ready, but now I think she feels differently. Maybe she needed Ryan to come along to make her realise that she wasn't that happy after all."

Coronation Street airs these scenes on Monday, March 11 at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV.

Corrie star Georgia May Foote has admitted that fans are "annoyed" with her character Katy Armstrong's recent behaviour.

Katy has found herself tempted by bad boy Ryan Connor (Sol Heras) in recent episodes, and the pair finally embark on a fling next week.

The young mum's relationship with Chesney Brown (Sam Aston) has always seemed stable, but they hit a crisis point in the next fortnight when the truth about Katy's antics comes to light.

Foote told the Yorkshire Evening Post: "The fans have already said they're annoyed about Katy and Ryan's relationship. They weren't too happy with it."

She continued: "There is a reason behind the affair, and that is that Katy is trying to get on with her own life."

The actress added that the storyline has brought the character of Katy into new territory.

Foote said: "It's really strange, it's a completely different storyline for Katy. I think Ryan was just being Ryan at the beginning, but then I think he does genuinely start to get feelings for Katy.

"Katy does like Ryan a little bit, but it's not until it all kicks off really that she falls for him."

Coronation Street continues tonight (February 6) at 7.30pm on ITV.

Coronation Street actress Georgia May Foote is engaged to her long-term boyfriend.

Foote had been spotted wearing a diamond ring in recent weeks, and a spokesperson for the ITV soap has now confirmed her engagement, The Mirror reports.

The spokesperson said: "They got engaged a few weeks ago and are very happy.

"They have no immediate plans to get married."

A source added that Foote is "blissfully happy" following the engagement.

The actress, who plays Katy Armstrong in the soap, is currently at the centre of an affair plot. Viewers have seen Katy become increasingly attracted to Ryan Connor after the pair began working together at the takeaway.

The 22-year-old explained that her fiancé is "protective" of her because of her fame.

"He copes well with my fame," she said. "He is protective when we go out, he keeps an eye out for troublemakers and helps me avoid attention.

"We went to school together, so he's grown up with me doing television. He's not one for red carpets.

"If I was going somewhere and it was VIP, he'd ask, 'Why can't you go in the normal bit?'. He's low-key."

Her on-screen personality will also receive a marriage proposal this week when Chesney proposes, unaware of her infidelity.

On the proposal, Foote said: "I think she just really wants the ground to swallow her up, because she knows deep down that she shouldn't be getting married and she feels awful for what she's done.

"But she feels as though she's got no choice but to say yes because he asks her in front of everybody."

"But she feels as though she's got no choice but to say yes because he asks her in front of everybody."

Coronation Street's Sam Aston has revealed that Chesney will struggle to trust Katy (Georgia May Foote) again after he discovers her betrayal.

Chesney is left devastated this week when he discovers his wife's affair with Ryan (Sol Heras).

Speaking to the Radio Times, Aston said: "Because he's from a broken family, he felt like he could rely on Katy. Now all of that has been blown to pieces.

"He's been in a bit of a bubble because everything was just working out for him for once. They have still had their financial problems but he didn't mind because they had each other. And now, all of a sudden, his rock has been taken away from him."

Chesney will stumble upon the truth after Gary (Mikey North) realises that Katy has been unfaithful.

"Whichever way he'd have found out would have been horrible, but at least if she hadn't have lied to him and accepted his proposal he wouldn't have lost all of his pride," Aston added.

Fiz (Jennie McAlpine) will try to reason with Chesney and persuade him to give Katy another chance.

"He thinks she's unbelievable for even asking. They were supposed to be a tight team. She's done the ultimate betrayal in his mind," Aston said.

"In his mind, there's no taking her back at all. Maybe in the distant future when he realises how much he misses her and needs her he might start to listen. But right now, he's having none of it."

Coronation Street's Chesney Brown is left devastated in tomorrow night's double bill (March 15) as he discovers that his girlfriend Katy Armstrong has betrayed him.

Chesney is currently on a high after Katy (Georgia May Foote) agreed to marry him, but he's not smiling for long when her fling with Ryan Connor comes to light thanks to an indiscreet Gary Windass.

We recently chatted to Sam Aston, who plays Chesney, to hear about his character's heartbreak and where things are heading next.

Have you enjoyed filming this new storyline for Chesney and Katy?
"Definitely. It's always nice to get a big storyline that you can sink your teeth into. I feel quite lucky, because all of my storylines have taken me down different paths and routes. Once again, this is something completely different for Chesney - it's not something that he's been through before. It's been challenging but I've really, really enjoyed it.

"I also didn't think this storyline would run for as long as it has done. I thought it would just be a quick storyline, but it's on screen at the moment and we're still filming it now. It's nice that it runs on for quite a bit."

We've usually seen Chesney and Katy as a happy couple. Have you been sad to see them run into trouble?
"Yeah - it's still weird now! At the moment, we're filming scenes where Chesney and Katy are trying to make things up but they're not together. That's a bit strange, because Georgia's been here for over two years now, and I started working with her pretty much as soon as she stepped foot on the cobbles.

"It's really weird for us to be apart now, because we've done so many scenes together. We're good friends on set and it feels weird to not be working as much with her."

Do you think Chesney is partly to blame for the problems in the relationship?
"Definitely, although I think he means well. He's not nasty to Katy - she means so much to him and he'd do anything for her. I just think he gets so wound up with money issues, and problems that someone of his age wouldn't normally have.

"I think that's taken a toll on the relationship in general, because Chesney hasn't been giving Katy the time and attention that she needs. Even just the little things - you don't really see Chesney buying Katy any cute presents, or trying to take her out for dates. They're both usually just concerned over whether they can pay the next bill and look after Joseph properly."

What is Chesney's initial reaction when he finds out about Katy's fling?
"His reaction is not good at all! The fling between Katy and Ryan never really gets too far, as the truth comes out before it can really go anywhere. If that hadn't happened, they probably would have gone all the way and slept together.

"Katy and Ryan have only been kissing, so a lot of people might think that Chesney overreacts to it, but it goes against everything that he stands for. Chesney comes from a broken family, so this is the one situation that he never wanted to be involved in.

"Chesney feels so let down, because he never thought that Katy would do this. So you'll see that his reaction is pretty drastic - he kicks her out!"

Katy wants another chance from Chesney, and Fiz also thinks they should sort things out. Does Chesney consider forgiving and forgetting?
"He tries! This is what we're filming at the moment, really. They get to a point where they're trying, but Chesney just can't seem to forget what Katy has done. He can't just rush into a reunion and pretend that nothing's happened. It's still very, very fresh in his mind and at the minute he can't look at Katy in the same way."

What advice would you give to Chesney if he was a friend of yours?
"I'd probably say that he should give Katy another chance, especially because she realises that what she's done is wrong. You'll see that Katy misses Chesney a lot, and it's clear that he misses her.

"I'd say give it another shot, because they've got so much at stake with baby Joseph to think about. I think it'll be sad if something quite small ended up blowing their family life apart for good. It's tough, though. I know that if I was in Chesney's situation, I'd be pretty annoyed!"

Corrie are bringing in Beth Tinker's niece Sinead as a love interest for Chesney. Are you excited about this possible new romance?
"Yeah, Sinead is a very different character and I think her and Chesney would be quite well-suited. At the same time, I think Chesney's heart will always belong to Katy! But that might just be my own personal take on it rather than the way the story is going!

"We've been filming some nice scenes between Chesney and Sinead and it'll be interesting to see what happens."

Have you been helping Katie McGlynn, who plays Sinead, to settle in?
"Yeah, I've been showing her around the set. Katie knows what she's doing anyway - she knows how it works because she was on Waterloo Road before this. But she was a bit lost on the first day, so I tried to be as helpful as possible!"

Do you think Chesney will start supporting Fiz and Tyrone a bit more?
"Of course he will, but at the moment he's just got too much on his mind. With the trial coming up, I think Chesney will try to be there for Fiz more so than Tyrone. In the end, Chesney will probably see that Fiz has found someone good. He knows that Tyrone is decent, so hopefully he'll support the relationship."

You've been on Corrie for nearly ten years now. Do you still enjoy it as much as when you first started?
"Absolutely. I've loved the time that I've spent here. Ten years is a pretty long time, but there's just something about Corrie. In my time here, I've been lucky enough to continue getting storylines. Like I said earlier, those storylines have all been quite different, so I feel very lucky.

"I do love it here and I'll stay for as long as they'll keep me - definitely for the foreseeable future. I've had a great time here, a great childhood."

Do you get much of a reaction from viewers when you're out and about?
"I do, actually! I'm quite lucky with the reactions, because I play a character who people feel sorry for nine times out of ten. When people see me they usually say, 'It'll be alright, Ches!' - because there's always something going on in his life! There's always something getting him down!

"People are usually pretty decent with me. I'm not sure if it's because of the red hair, but I seem to be pretty recognisable, and people will shout from across the street as if they know you! Because Corrie is a programme that's about real life and it's on all the time, people just seem to think that they're one of your mates! I've had people coming up to me who think I'm their neighbour - it's mad!"

Have you enjoyed working with your on-screen baby over the past year or so?
"I have, but it can be hard because I don't always see the babies all the time. We have twins playing Joseph and they're lovely - two of the cutest babies. But I don't think they're used to me - I think they're more used to Georgia! I definitely think they're mummy's boys, because they don't always want to come to me!

"We're just doing scenes at the moment where I've not seen Joseph for a couple of weeks, but when I've tried to hold him, he's started crying!"

Are you similar to Chesney in real life?
"I think I'm different to Chesney. I don't have a son, for one! We're living completely different lives. Although Chesney is a real family-orientated person, and I am too. We're similar in that way, but I'd say not in others because Chesney has been through a lot and luckily enough I haven't!"

Would you like to see Chesney's mum Cilla make a return to the cobbles?
"I think it would be nice! After everything Chesney has been through and as much as he says that he doesn't like Cilla, he does love her. We still have scenes which mention Cilla, when it's her birthday or things like that. I think you can see in those scenes that Chesney actually misses her. Cilla was a fantastic character so it would be great to see her back

Coronation Street star Sam Aston has spoken about his character's new romance storyline for the first time.

Sinead Tinker has been brought into the soap as a love interest for young dad Chesney Brown, and she quickly catches his eye when she arrives in Weatherfield this spring.

Speaking to Digital Spy, Aston said: "Sinead is a very different character and I think her and Chesney would be quite well-suited.

"We've been filming some nice scenes between Chesney and Sinead and it'll be interesting to see what happens."

However, Aston also hinted that, despite Chesney starting up a new relationship, he believes his alter ego will always love Katy.

"I think Chesney's heart will always belong to Katy! But that might just be my own personal take on it rather than the way the story is going!"

Aston also admitted that he helped Katie McGlynn, who will be playing Sinead, find her feet on her first day on set.

"I've been showing her around the set. Katie knows what she's doing anyway - she knows how it works because she was on Waterloo Road before this. But she was a bit lost on the first day, so I tried to be as helpful as possible!"

Corrie's Katy Armstrong faces a tough battle to win back Chesney Brown over the next few weeks in the aftermath of her fling with Ryan Connor.

Katy was kicked out by a devastated Chesney (Sam Aston) earlier this month, and things are unlikely to get back to normal anytime soon as she struggles to earn her ex-partner's forgiveness in upcoming episodes.

Digital Spy recently caught up with Georgia May Foote, who plays Katy, to hear about the future of the storyline and the introduction of Chesney's new love interest Sinead.

What has the Katy, Ryan and Chesney storyline been like to film?
"I've been really busy working on the storyline, but I've absolutely loved it. It's been a big challenge for me because it's the biggest storyline that I've done so far, but I've really enjoyed that."

Are you still filming the fallout from the storyline?
"We are - the story is still going on, because as you've seen recently, Katy and Ches aren't together at the moment. The story is going to concentrate on them and whether they can get back together.

"Obviously Chesney isn't going to forgive Katy straight away, so this story will be one that goes on for quite a while, I think."

Is there part of you that's been sad to see Katy and Chesney split up?
"A little part, yeah. Sam is such a good friend of mine, so it's been strange not to work with him as much. But at the same time it's also good, because if couples in the show always stayed together, I think people would soon get bored watching Corrie! I think it's nice to have a little bit of a mix-up every now and again."

What were Katy and Chesney's recent break-up scenes like to film?
"They were exhausting! It can be hard work to make yourself cry and then keep crying for hours and hours. We did more or less all of those break-up scenes in the house on the same day, so it was about five or six scenes of us constantly crying! But we got through it in the end and we had a really good director, which always helps."

What kind of response will Katy get from Chesney when she's trying to get back with him?
"I think Chesney wants to get back with Katy, too. Deep down he never wanted to break up with her in the first place, and it wasn't his fault that this situation happened. I think Chesney was quite happy just going along as they were.

"But now it's going to take quite a while for Chesney to be able to trust Katy again. Katy has crossed a line, so it'll take a lot for him to forgive her."

Does Katy still love Chesney, or is she mainly concerned with getting the family back together for Joseph's sake?
"I think it's a bit of both, really. As she's realising the consequences of what she's done, Katy can see that it's going to affect Joseph more than anyone else. That's one of the things that Katy is considering, but deep down she does love Chesney too."

Can you understand why Katy was tempted by someone else?
"I can, yes. Katy has been with Chesney since quite a young age, so he's all she ever knew. When someone else shows her a bit of attention, you have to remember that she's been stuck in the house all day and isn't really being appreciated by Chesney as he's always at the market.

"I can see why it happened, but I don't think it was ever the case that Katy did it on purpose. It's clearly something that just happened and was blown out of proportion."

You're on Twitter, so what kind of a reaction have you seen to the storyline?
"It's been a bit of a mixed bag, really. There's probably been a few more people saying, 'How could you do that to poor Chesney?' and 'Team Chesney!' But there's also been a few people saying, 'Oh leave her alone, she's obviously struggling'. I think it's 60-40, on Chesney's side!"

Does Katy regret settling down and having a baby so young?
"I don't think she regrets it - it's just that she had no idea how hard it would be. She thought she'd have a baby and everything would be fine, but with all of her friends going out and having fun, it's made her realise that she's missing out on a lot of stuff."

Corrie are bringing in Beth Tinker's niece Sinead as a possible new love interest for Chesney. Will Katy get jealous?
"Yeah, we've already done some scenes where Katy is very jealous over that! We'll have to wait and see what happens, as I don't know how far things are going to go between Ches and Sinead. That's Sam's little storyline - he doesn't know what I've been up to, and I don't know what he's up to now! It's funny as there are some scenes coming up in the Bistro with the three of us, and I think it's going to be a good story."

Waterloo Road star Katie McGlynn is playing Sinead. Have you had a chance to get to know her?
"Yeah, I've met Katie a few times now since she's been in. She seems really lovely. It can be a bit daunting when you join this show, so me and Sam have been showing her around and spending time with her."

Will Katy and Ryan continue to have a connection?
"I think so - I think there'll always be that spark there between them. Even if they decide never to speak to each other again, I think there'll always be those awkward moments. I don't know whether it's over, but even if it is, there'll always be something there!"

Would you like Katy to get up to even more mischief?
"Definitely, as I love playing those scenes. It's been really fun having scenes where Katy is drunk and just doing some different things, rather than walking around with the pram!"

How do you feel about being nominated for 'Sexiest Female' at the British Soap Awards?
"I'm really excited about it. I've always watched the Soap Awards from being a kid, so the thought of even being nominated for a prize is lovely. I feel like I'm finally part of the Street now, so it's very flattering."

Do you think Corrie is in with a good chance on the night?
"I think so. There's been a lot of really good acting in Corrie, especially in the past couple of years. We've had all the stuff recently with the Rovers fire, and a lot of drama with the Barlows and everyone else. There have been really good storylines so I do think we deserve some prizes. Fingers crossed!"

Coronation Street continues on Sunday (March 24) at 7pm on ITV.

Coronation Street star Georgia May Foote has revealed that Katy will be jealous of Chesney's new love interest.

Coronation Street star Sam Aston has revealed that his character Chesney Brown will compare his new love interest to Katy.

Katy will try to win Chesney back next week by quitting her job at the kebab shop and telling Chesney that she wants to concentrate on their family. She will soon have competition though as Sinead Tinker (Katie McGlynn) catches Chesney's eye after being introduced by Beth.

However, Aston doesn't think that Chesney is ready for a new romance so soon after being betrayed by Katy.

Speaking to the Radio Times, he said: "Chesney and Sinead get on so well, although maybe in his head he's comparing her to Katy.

"I think he sees her as a distraction from everything going on in his life, although he does quickly realise that Sinead's a nice girl.

"Katy started all of this and I think he probably wants her to feel a little of the pain he's been going through."

Aston also admitted that Chesney will start to use Sinead in order to make Katy jealous.

"Katy's not pleased at all. She says to Chesney that if he wanted to get back at her and make her jealous then he has succeeded.

"Chesney is quite cruel really. He purposely gets a picture taken with Sinead knowing full well that Katy is watching. Chesney then looks over at Katy as if to say that two can play at her game. When she storms out though, Chesney does start to feel guilty.

"In his head, he probably thinks that it would be best to move on, but he's not there yet. He's too caught up with Katy and he's certainly nowhere near being over her yet. It's heart-wrenching enough for him just seeing her in the street

Georgia May Foote has revealed that viewers will soon see "the final nail in the coffin" for Katy Armstrong's relationship with Chesney Brown.

Chesney (Sam Aston) dumped Katy last month as he was unable to forgive her when he discovered her fling with Ryan Connor.

In a fortnight's time, there is a glimmer of hope for the estranged couple as Chesney seems open to the idea of a reunion. Unfortunately, things soon go wrong again.

Foote told All About Soap: "They do come close. They have a heart-to-heart and decide to try and get back together slowly and make things work. You can see they do both love each other and really want to.

"However, then it all goes horribly wrong and they never actually end up going on a date. It's quite upsetting! They're about to go on a date when Chesney sees Katy's phone messages, and one pops up from Ryan.

"Ches just doesn't trust her. She tells him nothing's going on, but he doesn't understand why these texts are coming through from Ryan if there's nothing between them any more. Katy can't really explain it, and he's eaten up with jealousy."

With Chesney furious all over again, Katy then decides to turn her attentions back to Ryan (Sol Heras).

Foote added: "The fact that Chesney doesn't want her makes her think, 'Right, if he's not going to trust me and take me back, then I'll go and have a good time'. She's determined now.

"She gets drunk and Ryan helps her home, insisting she stay the night, but they don't sleep together. Unfortunately, though, Chesney sees her leaving Ryan's the following morning and that's the final nail in the coffin."

Coronation Street continues tonight (April 10) at 7.30pm on ITV.

Coronation Street stars Georgia May Foote and Sol Heras have confirmed that their characters are to become a proper couple.

Katy Armstrong (Foote) and Ryan Connor (Heras) embarked on a fling, leading to Katy being kicked out by a devastated Chesney (Sam Aston).

"They do [get together]. Because Chesney has left Katy, it gives them a chance," Foote told Take It Easy magazine.

On whether Ryan will be able to cope with being a dad to Katy's son Joseph, she said: "I don't think he realises what he's let himself in for. He just thinks it'll be fine. But obviously Katy doesn't find parenthood that easy, so I don't think he would find it easy. They will experience problems down the line, they both struggle.

"And now Katy is not with Chesney where will she be living? If she is staying with Ryan, that has an effect on Michelle and Steve, either way it will cause problems. And Owen is really unhappy about it. He just keeps looking at Katy as if he's disappointed."

Sol Heras said of the storyline: "I think the biggest reaction is from Owen. It's going to be quite tense with Owen and Ryan, because Katy's made the decision to leave Chesney for Ryan, and he thinks it's a terrible idea.

"But I think some people can see that it is a genuine thing, it's not just a one-off. People think if they're happy together and it's genuine, we'll see what happens."

Speaking about how Ryan will deal with Katy's family, he added: "I don't think Ryan has thought that far ahead, but he's fallen for Katy and I think he's willing to take on anything for her. I don't think Ryan can really wash his own clothes let alone wipe a baby's bottom!"

Katie is devastated when she catches love-rat Ryan red handed with another woman, Georgia May Foote has revealed.

Georgia said: "Ryan tells her that this girl is just a club promoter that he’s met in town, and for a while she believes that."

"But when he keeps texting someone, she decides to suss him out. She goes to check his phone and sees loads of messages from a girl called Jamie-Lee and decides that she’s not going to be walked all over..."

Katy gets dressed up to the nines and goes to see for herself what Ryan is up to behind her back. "Katy walks in and sees them sat drinking together and giggling. Ryan has his arm wrapped around Jamie-Lee," said Georgia.

"Katy really sees red, marches over and slams her bag on the table, demanding to know what’s going on..."

After sacrificing her relationship with Chesney for the thrill of Ryan, Katy feels embarrassed that it is all backfiring on her.

"Ryan wanted Katy but not the baggage, so now he’s losing interest," she said.

"Katy’s used to being with someone who likes the same things as her and wants to stay home with the family, but that’s not who Ryan is."

"This is exactly what she did to Chesney, but now she knows how it feels too. She just feels so stupid"

In light of Ryan's cheating, Katy begs Chesney for a second chance.

"I don’t think she ever stopped being in love with Ches. She’ll always love him, he’s Joseph’s Dad. Now she realises how well Chesney treated her," said Georgia.

But as Chesney grows ever closer to Sinead, will he forgive Katy and give their relationship another try?

"Katy feels as though Sinead’s just come along and jumped in her grave," added Georgia. "Katy misses the family unit, she came from a broken home and she doesn’t want that for neither her nor Joseph."

Coronation Street star Georgia May Foote has said that she doesn't want her character Katy Armstrong to lose her feisty side.

Next week's episodes see Katy realise that her recent behaviour has been a terrible mistake as she sees the true colours of her bad boy lover Ryan Connor (Sol Heras).

Afterwards, Katy begs ex-partner Chesney Brown (Sam Aston) to take her back, but show bosses aren't giving away whether he will agree.

Discussing the latest story developments, Foote commented: "I think at first Katy mainly wanted Chesney back for the sake of their son Joseph, but she does love him too. Katy misses the family unit. She came from a broken home and she doesn't want that for neither her nor Joseph.

"I would like to see Katy and Chesney try again, but then I really like this new Katy that has come out of all of this. She's feisty! And I like the character on her own too and the problems that come with Katy and Chesney being separated but having a child together."

She added: "Katy does wish she'd never ruined her family life for Ryan, but for Katy and for myself playing that character, I think it was a really good thing. It's certainly made Katy her own person and made her realise what she's got in life."

Foote's latest storyline has also resulted in her character glamming herself up on screen more often.

She laughed: "Katy is glam in a completely different way to myself! Katy's idea of glam is just a little bit more mascara than usual and a slick of lipgloss! It's been a good change, although it takes longer in make-up and I like to be in and out!"

I completely disagree with the comments made above that Chesney can't survive on his own as a character. I think he's a great little actor. And I personally would like to see the relationship with him and Sinead develop. We haven't seen a lot of her but I think she's be a welcome addition to the Street. Not sure about Katy and Chesney's relationship. I don't think it's really what Katie wants is to be back with him. She wants a family for Joseph. But I think she secretly wishes she had lived her life properly first. She's definitely not as set in her ways as Chesney, and think she will get bored again if she goes back to him. And you cant force a person to change. So ultimately, no I think they should stay separated.

Coronation Street teen Chesney Brown will decide to give his relationship with Katy Armstrong another try later this month.

Chesney makes the difficult choice to end his romance with Sinead Tinker (Katie McGlynn) and reunite with Katy (Georgia May Foote) as he wants to put his son Joseph first.

However, with Chesney feeling awkward around Katy once she moves back home, it's unclear whether the couple will be back together for long.

Sam Aston, who plays Chesney, told Soaplife: "He has a heart-to-heart with Tyrone and admits the most important thing in his life is Joseph. At that point, he knows what he has to do and he finishes with Sinead.

"Having a mum and dad living together for Joseph means so much to Chesney because he never had that growing up. Katy's thrilled they're back together, but Chesney's just happy to have his son back."

Chesney quickly realises that he hasn't fully forgiven Katy for cheating on him with bad boy Ryan Connor.

Aston continued: "It's not good. Katy's very seductive and tells Chesney how much she's missed him, but Chesney just doesn't feel the same. When she goes upstairs, he can't bring himself to follow her.

"Sinead and Chesney had a much more fun relationship then he has with Katy. Ches and Katy grew up too fast."

Asked whether Chesney could change his mind and get back with Sinead again, he replied: "All I'm saying is that the foreseeable future looks quite bright for Chesney - but that could change."

Coronation Street's Sam Aston has revealed that he thinks his character Chesney Brown needs a makeover.

The actor has starred in the ITV soap for ten years since joining in 2003 aged 10 years old.

He told Inside Soap: "I don't think Chesney's clothes have improved much! Maybe a bit, because I used to have to wear some sad stuff.

"Mind you, they're probably better than mine. I'm always in trackies and trainers. I'd come to work in my pyjamas if I could!"

Viewers have seen Chesney reunite with Katy Armstrong (Georgia May Foote) after being involved in a love triangle with Sinead Tinker (Katie McGlynn).

Aston admitted he is unsure whether Chesney and Katy's reunion will last.

The 20-year-old said: "Chesney and Katy have got problems that you wouldn't think people their age would have.

"They spend their lives worrying about bills and feeding their baby.

"It's sad - I think they've grown up too fast."

Coronation Street star Georgia May Foote has revealed that fans can expect much more "mischief" from her character Katy Armstrong.

Katy has recently won back her boyfriend Chesney Brown (Sam Aston), but the reunion proves short-lived when it becomes clear that he took her back for the wrong reasons.

In another twist to the love triangle story, Chesney decides to make a go of things with Sinead Tinker again, while Katy goes back to the single life.

Despite this, Katy should still have some fun and laughter on the horizon as show bosses have decided to promote her friend Steph Britton (Tisha Merry) to regular character status.

Foote told Inside Soap: "They needed to shake up Katy and Ches, so now they're single parents, it'll be very interesting. I'd like Katy to go off the rails, because I've never played a character like that.

"Katy's friend Steph will be a regular, so expect to see those two getting up to lots of mischief together!"

Katie McGlynn, who plays Sinead, has also praised the storyline.

She said: "There's going to be lots of fun and happiness with Sinead and Chesney when they get together properly. They're pretty comical together because they're like an old married couple.

"Then there's Beth and Kirk - they end up going round as a foursome, and there will be lots of laughs. I think the audience will like seeing them all have a nice time together."

Urgh. I was disappointed when they split up, but now I don't like them together at all. Aside from the wrong reasons thing, I get the impression that Katy is now just all about herself. He should get together with Sinead, although I couldn't blame her if she wasn't interested after this.

how many bedrooms do the houses on the street have?

amazing tardis-like buildings, I wish I had one!!!

so at Anna's we have: her and owen, Faye, Katie, and Joseph? 3 rooms maybe 4?

and the older houses look like 2 up 2 downs to me? but they have at least 3 people in different rooms and have had space to build an indoor bathroom at some point?
