Hi guy's. How far were you all when you felt baby move for the first time, and did you feel it quicker with each pregnancy? I was 18 weeks with first, 16 weeks with second, and awaiting the day at the moment, though can't wait and sometimes not sure if the familiar bubbles popping are what I thing they are, or just wishful thinking. Did anyone else feel it this early???

Treacle

I didn't feel this one move until about 2 weeks ago. My first was always moving from about 18 weeks and my second about the same but I didn't feel my second move as much.

I can't wait till it can start kicking my hubby in the back again, like my other 2 did, to keep him awake at night aswell as me!!! :rotfl:

I hate it when they move, it's supposed to feel exciting but it feels weird to me.

Well being 18 I don't know what it's like to pregnant let alone feel it moving around inside you!

Does it hurt? Or just feel funny?

Treacle
18-06-2005, 01:15
It doesn't hurt but it just feels weird. Like you have a person in there, I know you do but it sort of makes it more real.

Jojo

Like I said, it feels a bit like something out of Alien, where there is no pain (unless its kicking you in the ribs !!) but once you can distinguish whether it is a punch or kick, looks like something is trying to escape from your stomach!!!!! It is a great feeling though, cause then you know that everything is ok. In my previous pregnancies, they have tended to move more when my stomach was exposed (bath, shower etc) as apparently the baby can see the sunlight through your skin, especially if you have lots of stretchmarks (like me LOL!!)

I was kicked more in the bath and in bed. I never seem to get any kicks when I'm on the move, it this normal?

I was kicked more in the bath and in bed. I never seem to get any kicks when I'm on the move, it this normal?I was always like that with my other two. Mostly in bath (when I would play games with it!!!) and bed, but not when moving....but they do say that the walking movement sends them to sleep, hence why they like to be rocked once they are born........

my first one kicked at about 16 weeks,2nd around the same time, they say the more you have the quicker you feel it but with this one i didnt feel anything til bout 18 - 19 weeks, also it doesnt really kick like the other two did it just feels like bubbles popping.the other two were quite high up when they kicked, but thias one feels realy low down which it is as i saw at the scan.
doesnt hurt but its lovely to be reasutred everythings ok in there when they do move about,i like it when they kick hard and you can see the outline of a foot.

Jojo
20-06-2005, 11:18
I know what you mean Chance - when Ciaran used to kick in the bath, I used to tickle his feet, and he used to move them away, and then kick me again so I would tickle him etc. And his feet are really ticklish now!!!

I think cause I am so close to the point where I should start feeling it move, I am starting to think about it more, which then make the waiting game worse if that makes sense!! Plus I am addicted to orange juice, so I have a really acidic stomach and can't tell if any bubbles popping are the baby or the orange juice!!!

chance
20-06-2005, 11:31
i was craving for orange juice at the beginning, ooo maybe you have a girl in there like me?!!

Jojo
20-06-2005, 11:35
Yes please......all this testosterone is killing me!!!! :rotfl: :rotfl:

I even tried the old chinese gender chart, but then it took 6 months and I was just happy to have conceived!! Would love to have a girl though, but my boys are great and wouldn't have it any other way.

Addicted to cherry tomatoes as well and I usually hate them. Not a good mixture to have though

20-06-2005, 11:39
have you got two boys?
i have so was shocked to find out it was a girl, are you going to find out at your first scan? i reasd that if you crave orange juice its a girl so maybe it is true,im liking baked beans too which i have never ever like oh and sausages which i hated before!

Jojo
20-06-2005, 11:44
Yeah, two boys - 12 and 3. Had my nuchal scan couple of weeks ago, and it looks kind of petite. My next scan is July 28th, so roll on 7 weeks!! I am wondering if it is a girl though, cause with my boys I had really bad morning sickness, but this time I had nothing. Didn't feel brill, but no actual sickness. Everything just seem completely the opposite to last time. I am drinking probably 1 1/2 litres of OJ a day, which is pretty scary, and I have completely gone off of sweet things.

chance
20-06-2005, 12:16
i was sick with both my boys but i was only sick twice this time and it wasnt even in the early stages it was at bout 18 -19 weeks and it was just after id eaten my brekkie and got in to a car,so i think that set it off,but i think if i hadnt of gone in the car i wouldnt have been sick so yes i was a bit different this time too,bet you got a girl, make sure you let us all know ! :)

Jojo
20-06-2005, 14:10
Definitely, as soon as I find out, I'll post it.

Treacle
20-06-2005, 14:53
I have mixed feelings about my bump. I'll stroke it but I feel weird most of the time. It must be even weirder for the first timers who aren't used to having this big bump.

Jojo
20-06-2005, 14:54
But I think that first timers are so in awe of what is happening that you just want to play with all of the time - I know I did!!

Treacle
20-06-2005, 14:56
I felt even stranger. I do still feel a little strange now though. I'm not keen on the bump because I worry a lot about what I can do. Can I expose it to sunlight etc? Can I lie down on it?

Jojo
20-06-2005, 15:00
I sleep on my front and get worried that I am going to squash it if I do, and I worry about what I can eat, drink etc. That sometimes spoils it.

Treacle
20-06-2005, 15:02
If pregnancy didn't involve a bump then I wouldn't feel strange but it's like my body's abnormal to what I'm used to.

Jojo
29-06-2005, 15:48
NEWS UPDATE: I've felt it moving today!!! Albeit, kicking me in the bladder etc, rather than bubbles popping, but I can feel it! :cheer:

29-06-2005, 18:19
aaaah hooray!

i loved it when i could feel connor move it was wierd but lovely! and i really missed it when i had him! in fact dave used to spend hours at night stroking my belly and i still really miss that now!!

i think the best bit of pregnancy is the first movements!

Jojo
30-06-2005, 09:39
I'm loving it. I just wish he/she wouldn't kick me in the bladder etc, and roll over and kick me in the belly instead!! These are the best moments though, cause its the point where I am thinking, I haven't got midwife for another 8 weeks, no scan for 4 weeks so how do I know everything is ok, and now I have started to feel it, I know its fine!!

Treacle
30-06-2005, 13:27
I'm feeling my little girl move on a more regular basis now. Think this pregnancy's been a bit slow. My bump is only starting to get bigger now!

Jojo
30-06-2005, 13:31
I wish I was slightly slimmer and not showing quite so much...makes me think about all of the exercising I'm going to need to do to try and tone the old stomach muscles.

I can't wait for more regular movements though, when they are more definite and you can start making out hands and feet!

Treacle
30-06-2005, 13:32
I honestly thought I'd never get a proper bump this time and it's only over these past few weeks that it's become a bit more distinguishable.

Jojo
30-06-2005, 13:34
According to my "wonderful" hubby, I am expanding greatly on a daily basis. Instead of the "hi honey I'm home" bit when he gets in, I get "god you're huge, you've grown again"!!

Treacle
30-06-2005, 13:35
It doesn't always mean you'll have a smaller baby though does it? If your bump isn't massive or it doesn't grow as fast.

Jojo
30-06-2005, 13:39
Nope, just depends on the condition of you before you fell pregnant - me, my rectus muscles were still split from having Ciaran, and still weighed the same as I did when I was 42 weeks!!! When I lie down, my bump disappears and I have a tiny mound, just like I should have when I am stood up!!!

You're just in better shape than I was!!!

Treacle
30-06-2005, 13:40
I cannot wait for it to go grow to it's fullest extent though but it gets harder not to have it on display and I get peoeple stroking it in the supermarket.

Jojo
30-06-2005, 13:43
Don't you just hate that!!

I do get lots of sympathetic looks though, especially when it was hot, so that one good thing I suppose!!

Treacle
30-06-2005, 13:52
That's why I like to wear big dresses but not good in the Winter. It's summer though now so I can put on my summer dresses and hide it.

Jojo
30-06-2005, 13:54
When I was expecting Stephen, cause I was so young, I ended up hiding my bump because of all of the looks/stares etc I was getting, so with Ciaran and this one too - its all tight!!!!

Treacle
30-06-2005, 13:57
My sister who is now 16 had her little girl at christmas and the looks she used to get were terrible. When she was 6 months gone she wouldn't go out atall. She didn't want to go anywhere until she'd had the baby. The only person who could get her to go out was me because I'm the tough cookie in the family and if she's with me people are more likely to be giving me the stares for my reputation than bothering with her atall.
I love a good slanging match in the middle of the road. We went to mothercare and the women behind the counter was giving her a dirty look so I gave her one look and she never looked at her again.

Jojo
30-06-2005, 14:01
Thats what I had, and back then, I would just take it. I wouldn't now though. When I was expecting Ciaran I was doing an engineering degree at college, and used to get looks from people, because they would see me coming out of college with a bag etc. I would having goes at them and making remarks like "I am 26 and married you know, I am allowed to be pregnant" etc. Back then though, I felt so self concious (sp?). I even had an old lady have a go at me for not giving my seat up for her on the bus.
Didn't have anyone to stick up for me either :(

Treacle
30-06-2005, 14:10
I think it's wrong. You were only pregnant. If I'd have been there they would have got a pasting.

Jojo
30-06-2005, 14:16
Thanks.....

People are so pre-judgmental (blimey, thats a long word!!). The fact that I was in a relationship etc when I was expecting Stephen, didn't matter to these narrow minded people. Its only now that I see it though. Now I just walk past and smile and say hello, which they hate cause they realise that you know they have been staring at you!!

I must have kept my youthful looks cause even now, I get the glares. I've started to think it quite funny and things like "it is legal" when I walk past!!! My mum gets a bit embarrassed when she is with me and I start to get funny about it!!

The older I get the thicker the foundation gets. I've just ordered 70 quids worth of foundation from Avon.

Jojo

I've given up using foundation cause it kept causing spots and I was starting to look like a teenager again!!

Jojo
01-07-2005, 09:43
I'm ok if I only use it occasionally, but as soon as it starts going on on a daily basis, thats when the problems start. Plus hubby then starts asking who I am trying to impress and doesn't believe me when I tell him its for my own self confidence (which I don't have loads of) and not for anyone else!

Treacle
01-07-2005, 15:53
Make-up is a confidence boost. If I look good, I feel good.

Jojo
01-07-2005, 15:56
I go through phases, though will probably start again soon for a bit, as I'm feeling pretty confident. Although, I did go to B&Q earlier and ended up having goes at people cause they were giving me dirty looks and looking at Ci and my bump, almost in disgust!! So I was like "Is there a problem???" to them and the slinked off pretty quick!

Treacle
01-07-2005, 15:57

That'll raise the eyebrows :D

Jojo

Jojo
18-07-2005, 12:19
Girl definitely - my eldest is coming up to 12 so hormones are starting, so what with him and hubby with their testosterone and then Ci being a normal 3 year old, I want some female sanity!! :rotfl:

I don't mind if its a boy though as long as its ok at the end of the day but my fingers are crossed!

i had the same when i was pregna t with my first son at 16,it didnt seem to matter to people that i was still with the father,i had it too with my 2nd,people assume because you are young and they can see no ring on your finger that each child has a different father, now im oregnant with third and i still get the look where 'you shouldnt be wearing that' etc and i wonder who the father of this one is,lol.theyve all got the same dad thanks and weve been together since we were both 16 so kiss my a**.(thats what id like to say, lmao)

Jojo
19-07-2005, 09:27
Exactly Chance - I can't help it if I don't look my age - in fact, I think I must be the only person I know that was asked for ID in order to buy a lottery ticket when I was 24!!! If I have kept my young, youthful looks (yeah right lol!!) I can't help it. I just so hate people making assumptions all of the time about stuff they know s** all about. Even now at 29 people look at me being huge, look at Ci and tut! And its even worse when I have Stephen with me cause of him being nearly 12 and pretty much the same height as me......

By the way - hubby felt baby moving for the first time today, so now hes panicking even more.....whats he like!!!

Jojo
21-07-2005, 20:57
I still have to get up at least twice in the night for the toilet even if I don't drink anything for an hour before I go to bed. My worst problem is the trapped nerve/pulled muscle feeling I get in my side when I turn over, which causes a shooting pain through my stomach and basically I get stuck and hubby has to help me over/up!!
