Derek is being recruited into Makosi's nutty weather theories - whether he likes it or not - and she's working on Kemal and Science too.
Makosi had asked Derek if it had rained last night. When he confirmed it had, she said, "Do you think it had anything to do with the weather planes?"
"Yes," he replied. "It probably had everything to do with the weather planes."
"Well done," said Makosi. "I need people to start thinking."
She's not content with just Derek going along with her. She's working on the rest of the House as well.
Yesterday there was a weather plane and today it's raining," she told Science, Kemal and Maxwell. If they didn't believe her they should visit a library, she suggested.
Kemal speculated that when they leave the House they would finally be told that there really are weather planes.
"I reckon there are weather planes," said Science, not really living up to his name, "But I don't reckon they do what you think they can do. You can't change weather, or it wouldn't have hailed in April. What's that about?"
"How about all the droughts?" asked eco-warrior Maxwell, shooting holes in the weather plane theory.
"There are things they can't do," explained Makosi. "You can only make it rain if there are clouds. You can only manipulate the clouds."
Duh! Didn't everyone know that?
