i don't recall calling anyone by name so why are you trying to make an argument out of it?..if you'd care to re-read what i posted you don't see anyones name.

it's been said more that once (and not just by me) that calling it 'deadenders' is unnecessary, if you don't like a soap then don't post about it, there's soaps i don't like but i don't take the mickey out of those that enjoy watching it. I think it shows a lack of respect is all.

Of course you're entitled to your opinion, inkyskin, but at least be honest about it.

This is what you said, "Also thank you to Perdita for not calling it 'Deadenders' like that other pillock."

So, can you give us your 100% assurance that you did not mean Alan by "that other pi8lock"?

Alan has been the way he is for as long as I have known him on this site( which has been a really long time ), he is endearing, and whatever he says about East Enders or anyone else in the program it is just the way he is and most of us who have been on this site for as long as I have are used to how Alan words things, he is entitled to his opinion as every one else, but we do not call him names for doing so.
Name calling is not on :-(

Does anyone else think Syed will ever find out about his baby with Amira? and do you think if Roxy had a baby for them they would use Christians sperm? Think its more likely as Roxy and Christian are best friends.

Cant believe Michael is living with Ronnie and he's going into business with Jack. He's living under the same roof of his son and he doesnt realise know. agh.

the syed/ amira baby storyline is bound to come up sometime in the futrure, it'll be one of those huge storyline cliffhanger things, maybe roxy will end up having christians baby, word will get back to Zainab about Amira, she'll tell syed, syed will realise he's straight and leave in a taxi on the search for his son...( it's bound to be a boy)

Inkyskin.. I understand where you are coming from and I am sure as Kath said, some people agree with you. In defense of Alan, he has always called it this and same for poison dwarf and beetroot man.. it is not an attack on the people, just the characters.. Is it just Deadender you object to or any other renaming of character as he calls Tracy in Corrie a plank?

it's not the name calling towards the characters i have a problem with as the characters are created that way so people will discuss the soap. but why call it 'deadenders'? it's implying that the soap is dull and boring, if so don't watch it. i also don't have a grudge against the person alan45 but i do have a grudge about it being called 'deadenders' and i know i'm not the only one.

Shiv I mind it as well. Iknow the characters are fictional but sometimes people are judged by their apearances as well. Like miss piggy, aka Sharon Watts. I'm not looking to start a fight. But it bothers me.

I can't recall seeing Alan's main critics, Cat2687, Dutchgirl and inkyskin anywhere in these awards so I think I know whose posts most people on the Soapboards prefer.

If he is to be stopped from employing his own brand of humour I'm sure he'll be off....and so will I.

Goodbye, it was nice knowing you all.

I'm gonna put my hand up and plead guilty to name calling. I apologise if my pet names "Poison Dwarf" & " Mr Beetroot Man" offends anyone it wasn't intentional. I call them that because I think that their acting skills are wooden, Peggy was always shouting and everytime Phil looses his rag his face turns purple. I would never call anyone on here a name that upset them.

Well Parkerman. I know we had a run in a couple of years ago.But this is really not your style. I never mentioned Alan 45 by name and have never upset anyone as far as I recall. I have been here nearly six years and always enjoyed the chatter. But sometimes enough is enough. And I do not like people referring to others with physical appearances. That is so low. That is humor at expences of others. Bright and intelligent people can do without that.

Next post by you which I like I will thank you as I did before.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion and nobody should direct name calling at any member on here whether they agree with them or not. That is part of the rules. I don't think this is the right place to discuss this either but I am willing to let it stay so people can air their opinions. Inky your remark about "that other pillock", did cause most of this as it was obviously directed at Alan as he is the only one who labels threads as Deadenders.

I don't mind this, doesn't bother me but I can see it bothers other. I will not be renaming threads already posted but I will check new threads. I don't mind people using character "names" within posts but I will ask that neither Parkerman or Alan leave as they both do give an opposing view of Eastender that most fans won't see or mention..
The board should be balanced and I would like it to stay that way.

Ronnie's latest lie has violent repercussions on EastEnders later this month as Jack punches Michael in the face.

Jack's furious behaviour comes after Ronnie puts poison into his ear about Michael, falsely claiming that he tried it on with her.

Michael is left baffled by Jack's behaviour, completely unaware that Ronnie has resorted to desperate measures to prevent him from going into partnership with her husband at a boxing gym.

Later, Michael heads over to visit Ronnie in an attempt to find out what's going on, but she refuses to talk to him.

A Walford source commented: "Jack is furious when Ronnie tells him Michael made a pass at her, and goes at him like a raging bull.

"Ronnie is desperately trying to stop Michael and Jack from working together but with Michael now trying to find out what on earth is going on, will her lies start to unravel?"

These scenes air on Monday, February 14 at 8.00pm on BBC One.

I've been reading this thread with some interest. Some points:

Personal attacks via name calling is not on. Anyone doing so in future will get a warning Calling a soap by a nick name, derogatory or not, is allowed as long as the person isn't trolling. Ditto nick names for characters

I, for one, am glad that we have people on the forum who aren't scared to give opposing views, otherwise this forum would be full of Kalfie, Shannis and numerous other teenage fantasies.

I've also had PMs saying calling EE Deadenders is bullying. I'm sorry, but I don't see how calling a soap a different name constitutes bullying.

Thank you for clarifying your position as owner of the site. I'm of the same view and don't see a problem with people calling a program what they like. I have far too much going on in my life to get upset by somebody calling a program different to its actual name. If folk don't like it, just skim over it or don't read the post. The forums have an ignore feature if people really don't want to read Alan's posts.

I am most concerned that neither Alan45 nor Parkerman have posted since this incident. They are both well known and well loved members of this community and it would be a huge loss to Soapboards if they left.

As for the original issue, as long as the name calling is restricted to T.V. series and fictional characters there is no problem.

This is my first post since "walking out" a few days ago. I have been tempted to return firstly by the level of support shown by a number of posters on here - thank you Shiv, Abigail, moonstorm, Trinity, Chloe - and secondly by Norman's statement above with which I agree 100%. If what he is says is adhered to by everyone I am happy to return to the fold.

I would also like to make it clear I have been a fan of Eastenders since it started in 1985 and there are many times when Eastenders has been brilliant and some of the storylines and characters absolutely gripping and I have said so, but there have been many occasions when it has deserved criticism and I feel it wrong not to speak up about it when it deserves it. However it seems to me that to a number of people on here anything derogatory said about EE is tantamount to treason and I think that view is just plain silly. If I return I will continue to give my views as I see them and I will support Alan's right also to say what he thinks. As far as I know he has never made personal remarks about anyone on here. Yes, he has nicknames for characters in EE and, incidentally in Coronation Street which for some reason no-one seems to mind, but that all adds to the richness of this forum. How boring would it be if we all agreed with each other?

1st poster: Eastenders was great last night.
2nd poster: Yes, I agree
3rd poster: Me too
4th poster: I thought Phil Mitchell was good
5th poster: Yes, me too.

Etc. etc. Yawn yawn.

This forum is probably the best Soap forum around; let's keep it that way and let's all keep our sense of proportion, our sense of humour and our right to disagree.

Soapboards wouldn't be the same without Alan and Parkerman. I've taken issue occasionally when Alan used to constantly put down Barbara Windsor, but I also know it's part of Alan's charm and I wouldn't change a thing about him.

Also thank you to Perdita for not calling it 'Deadenders' like that other pillock.

The Following 3 Users Say Thank You to inkyskin For This Useful Post:
Cat2687 (29-01-2011), Dutchgirl (01-02-2011), Perdita (29-01-2011)

What amazes me about this remark is that three supposedly senior members thought it worthwhile to thank the poster for her useful post. I appreciate that I was not named but as Im the only one who calls the Sacred Cow that is Eastenders by the IMHO more apt name of Deadenders its safe to assume that it was directed at me. Sticks and stones etc

What about Poison Dwarf and Beetroot Man... They aren't on either then?

I cannot claim the credit for these nicknames, similarly I cannot claim credit for calling Sharon Watts/Mitchell/Woodman Miss Piggy. Personally I think they are hilarious and wish I had thought them up.

wow I always wanted to be called a drama queen,, whoo hooo,,, Alan will reply,, trust me as soon as he catches his breath,, Having caught my breath I am making a considered and measured reply. I never thought of you as a Drama Queen Jodi but hey who cares. Im sure you have been called worse name just like me

Tracy is a plank. At least thats something we can agree on. However why is it okay in your opinion to use nicknames for Corrie Charaacters and not for Albert Squares finest. Double Standards it would appear to me

. And I do not like people referring to others with physical appearances. That is so low. That is humor at expences of others. Bright and intelligent people can do without that.
. Bright and intelligent people do not thank someone for calling another member a pillock. I take it you are referring to my calling Eileen in Corrie Big Eileen. This of course as I previously pointed out is the name she is referred to by both Steve and Lloyd and beleive me Im not in a position to talk about anybodys size and/or weight.

Soapboards wouldn't be the same without Alan and Parkerman. I've taken issue occasionally when Alan used to constantly put down Barbara Windsor, but I also know it's part of Alan's charm and I wouldn't change a thing about him. I have called Eastenders Deadenders since I joined SB. and find it amazing that people have suddenly found it ''offensive'' A cynic would say this is no mere coincidence. Good job Im being ironic and not cynical.

I am grateful for All the messages of support I have had on here from all my many friends. I am very glad that NB has clarified what is and isnt offensive so it looks like I will be able to carry on in my own inimitable fashion. If you dont like it please feel free to hit the ignore button but then you never know what gems you may miss. Some of you annoy me on here as no doubt I annoy you but I can honestly say I dont actually hate anyone on here so we will just have to agree to be different. Feel free to argue with me but I feel an open forum is not the place for rows. I am more than happy to argue my case by PM if you wish.

And now the spoilers

14th Feb

Michael returns from Brighton with Alfie and phones Jack, who ignores the call. At the flat, a guilty Ronnie tells Jack that she shouldn't have said anything about Michael and orders her husband not to do anything stupid. Later, Michael tries to continue his romance with Roxy by buying flowers for her, but she ignores him when he tries to give them to her. Soon afterwards, Jack spots Michael in the market and punches him, angrily warning him to stay away from Ronnie. Meanwhile, Roxy also orders him to stay away from her sister. Desperate for answers, Michael pays a visit to Ronnie. She tries to ignore him, but Michael vows that he won't leave until Ronnie talks to him. Finally, Ronnie confesses that she may have said something about him that has been taken the wrong way. Michael then grabs Ronnie - and at that moment, Jack appears in the doorway.

Seeing Ronnie and Michael up close only makes Jack angrier, so he yanks Michael away from his wife and repeats his warning to stay away. Once Michael has gone, Ronnie advises Jack to buy Michael out at the boxing gym so he has no reason to stay in Walford. Later, Jack visits the gym to make this suggestion, and Michael takes the opportunity to protest his innocence once again. Michael explains that he thinks Ronnie fancies him because a passport photo is missing from his wallet. Pressing the point, Michael promises that he will sign everything over if Jack agrees to ask Ronnie about the photo. Back at the flat, Jack starts to search for the photo and he's stunned when he finds it…

Meanwhile, Janine and Whitney decide to start job-hunting. Whitney lands a trial shift at The Vic that evening after Ryan asks Kat to give her a chance. Kat then announces that it's singles' night at the pub, and Whitney heads off to spread the word - but Janine isn't happy. As Whitney's trial shift gets under way, Kat catches Whitney sneaking Janine money. However, she agrees to give Whitney the job as long as Whitney promises that she can be trusted.

Elsewhere, Jane tells Alfie that he should celebrate Valentine's Day with Kat, but he insists it's too soon; Roxy is jealous when she sees Michael with another girl, but he whispers that the girl isn't a patch on her; Shirley is left overwhelmed by the number of customers at the R&R after Glenda takes the night off and fails to arrange cover; and Heather is still struggling financially.

15th Feb

Heather is still worrying about her financial problems and as she completes her cleaning job at Phil and Shirley's, she considers stealing a bottle of milk - but Jay snatches it off her before she can do so. She then heads over to the launderette but is disappointed when she realises that she's not scheduled to work on the rota. Later, at the café, Heather asks Shirley for her wages but is gutted when Shirley explains that she's left her purse at home. When Heather storms off and Shirley asks what's wrong, Heather loses her temper - asking Shirley where she was last night and accusing her of choosing Phil over her. Fighting back tears, Heather declares that their friendship is over.

Later, things look up for Heather when Patrick gives her £20 for being the Minute Mart's employee of the month. Heather decides to buy some chocolates for Dot and Jim because she's been desperate to buy them an anniversary present. She also shops for some clothes for George at the market, but is left embarrassed when Jodie suggests that she should do her shopping at the high street. When she returns to the shop, Heather learns that Patrick only made up the 'employee of the month' prize to give her money, so she puts £20 back in the till.

As the day continues, Heather is shocked when Morgan breaks a wheel on her buggy. Heather goes through his pockets to look for money to pay for the damage and finds 50p. However, her actions are witnessed by a furious Carol, who threatens to call the police. Back at the flat, Heather puts George to sleep before leaving to visit her mother. There's more disappointment in store, however, as she hears from a neighbour that her mum has moved. As she hands the neighbour a picture of George to pass on, she suddenly remembers that she has left George alone and rushes home.

Billy witnesses Heather arriving back on the Square and follows her, concerned by how frantic she appears to be. Heather confesses to Billy that she left George on his own and she soon realises that she can no longer provide for her own son. As a result, she pays a visit to Darren and leaves him and Jodie to look after the baby. Returning to the flat, Heather finds a note from Shirley containing her wages. She starts getting ready to see Shirley, but Shirley later arrives at Heather's and bangs angrily on the door as Heather failed to show up at the club. Shirley is unaware that Heather is lying unconscious inside due to a faulty boiler.

17th Feb

Darren is trying to get in touch with Heather, so he asks Dot and Shirley where she is. All three still remain oblivious to the fact that she is lying unconscious in her flat. Because he can't reach Heather, Darren has to bring George to work with him, but ends up recruiting Tamwar as a babysitter after Jack expresses his displeasure. George's time with Tamwar at the Argee Bhajee ends with the baby being covered in curry, so when Darren arrives back, he has to visit Heather's to get some clean clothes. He knocks on Heather's door but there's still no response. Darren then decides to use a credit card to get inside and he's shocked when he finds Heather slumped in her chair.

Shirley is also wondering about Heather because the house is in a state. Shirley vows to sack Heather, but she soon realises that Heather is her friend and makes a phone call to her, leaving a message. Later, paramedics arrive on the Square and a crowd gathers as everyone wonders what's going on. Shirley rushes over and is worried about Heather, but she also feels guilty as she feels that she has treated her friend badly. Shirley tries to run after the ambulance as it drives away, but she's left alone - wondering whether Heather will survive…

Meanwhile, Christian and Syed want Roxy to take a pregnancy test, but she doesn't show up to meet them as planned. The pair visit her flat but an argument follows when they find Roxy and Michael wrapped only in towels. Christian eventually storms out, while Syed confronts Roxy, saying that she's being unfair and accusing her of not wanting the baby plan to work out. However, things calm down when Syed admits to Roxy that he's jealous of the close relationship she has with Christian. Roxy then confides in Syed about her feelings for Michael, saying that she'd love to have a relationship as strong as Christian and Syed's. Later, Syed tells Christian that he didn't want a child at first but has since come round to the idea, while at The Vic, Roxy is heartbroken when another woman warns her off Michael - declaring that he's taken. Roxy then pays a visit to Christian and Syed, looking for some comfort. Soon afterwards, Roxy drops a bombshell by announcing that her period is late…

Elsewhere, Kat receives a letter from the coroner; Jack wonders what to do about the photo and later apologises to Michael; Whitney takes advantage of her new position at The Vic by conning customers out of money; Jane advises Alfie to fight for Kat, but he insists he has no fight left; Fatboy suggests that Dot should start having her meals delivered and she considers the idea; and after Jack confronts Ronnie over the photo, she admits she needs proper help.

18th Feb

Janine encourages Whitney to steal alcohol from The Vic, so she chooses the right moment to put three bottles of vodka into a bag. However, a livid Kat later finds the bag and sacks Whitney, offering her £40 in unpaid wages - which Whitney chooses not to take. Whitney soon turns to Dot for support, but Dot advises her to go back home to her family. Feeling desperate for cash, Whitney tries to sell some of her belongings - including her phone - on the street, but has no luck. When Whitney returns to the flat and reports that she's been sacked, Janine is furious. Janine's temper gets worse when she hears that Whitney turned down her wages and she slaps her lodger.

Meanwhile, the coroner pays a visit to Kat. Kat later shows Alfie a letter from the coroner which states that Tommy died from Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. Alfie tells Kat that the confirmation means she can now stop blaming herself. As the pair each discuss their own sadness, Kat says that it might have helped her if she'd known how much Alfie was hurting sooner. The couple then bond as they remember Tommy.

Elsewhere, Ronnie heads to her first counselling session. While waiting for her appointment, she spots a magazine article about babies which upsets her, and she ends up leaving without having the session. When she sees Jack later, Ronnie tells him another lie - explaining how helpful she found the meeting with the counsellor.

Also today, Roxy tells Glenda that she will get her money back when Phil returns; Mo complains to Christian and Syed that nobody has celebrated her birthday, but Kat and Alfie soon appear to take her out for a meal; and Christian and Syed wait as Roxy takes a pregnancy test - what will the result be?

Wow what shall we call this Alanendergate  I can see the papers calling us all on here to sell our stories on this :p

:cheer: Story has already been sold, we are going to be on the front pages of the New of The World. I am the very sexy one in the skimpy outfit (no airbrushing was involved). Proceeds will obviously be squandered on booze and nightclubs, all welcome :cheer:

Cheryl Fergison has claimed that she is like a "magnet" to EastEnders fans.

The actress, who portrays Heather Trott in the soap, explained that viewers are drawn to her but avoid her co-star Linda Henry, who plays Heather's best friend Shirley Carter.

The 46-year-old told PA: "If I'm out with Linda people will come to me like a magnet and avoid her like the plague.

"They'll do a semicircle around her avoiding her and come the other way to me. So they'll be on my left-hand side and nobody on her side, which is very nice.

"When I'm out they always want to give you a cuddle. Which is fine but a bit hard when you're driving in your car and you get a pair of arms shoot through your window in summer - that's a bit frightening but other than that nine times out of ten it's a positive thing."

Fergison is to star in her own special episode of the serial on February 15, which focuses on her everyday life and the problems that she faces.

She added: "No matter how many times she gets knocked down she gets back up again, and I think that's the thing with Heather and the thing that people like with Heather.

"Being hopeful about the situation, her glass is always half-full even when she's down to the lowest point. You know you've got to give her ten out of ten for trying every time.

"If Heather had lots of luck and lots of love and lots of everything she wouldn't be Heather, you'd have to lose the head bands and everything, wouldn't you? A whole new character."

http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/soaps/s2/eastenders/news/a304495/potd-roxy-takes-a-pregnancy-test-in-enders.html

It's the moment of truth for Christian and Syed's surrogacy plan in tonight's episode of EastEnders as they discover whether Roxy is pregnant or not.

As the trio gather for their important 'date', Christian and Syed ply Roxy with glasses of water in order for her to take a pregnancy test.

However, with the effects taking longer to occur than expected, they're hit with an unexpected delay - which frustrates Christian until Syed warns him to be patient with Roxy. Not one to miss out on an opportunity, Roxy then asks the couple to make her some food while they wait.

Finally, however, Roxy is able to take the test and they all stand by anxiously for the result. But will it be positive or negative?

EastEnders airs tonight at 8pm on BBC One.
