The Hollywood Foreign Press Association has insisted that the Golden Globe Awards will still air in 2012 despite an ongoing lawsuit with Dick Clark Productions.

The organisation, which presents the ceremony, began legal action against Dick Clark Productions in November 2010, claiming that the company had signed an agreement with the NBC network without its knowledge to air the show through to 2018.

However, in a statement released Monday, the HFPA said that the case would not affect the future of the Golden Globes.

"Regardless of the legal proceedings with… Dick Clark Productions, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association will present the 69th Annual Golden Globe Awards Show as scheduled in January 2012," said a rep for the group according to Entertainment Weekly.

"The show will go on, with or without DCP."

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association was recently sued by Cinepoint Productions over a contract dispute.

Ricky Gervais has revealed that the Hollywood Foreign Press Association have invited him back as host for next year's Golden Globe Awards.

Writing in Heat magazine, the comedian said that the ceremony's high ratings last month led organisers to offer him the post again despite controversy caused by his material.

"The ratings went up again, and the organisers asked me to consider a third year. [But] I don't think I should," he wrote.

"I don't know what I could do better. I certainly couldn't get more press for them, that's for sure. The response was staggering. It was discussed on every news channel and chatshow for weeks."

However, Gervais stood by his earlier assertion that he did nothing wrong, adding: "The weird thing is, the question is always, 'Did Ricky go too far?' And the answer is always, 'No'.

"I have yet to find anyone who was actually offended by it."

Ricky Gervais has been confirmed as host of next year's Golden Globes.

It will be the third year in a row that the British comedian has hosted the ceremony, despite provoking controversy for his stint earlier this year.

The official Golden Globes Twitter page announced: "Ricky Gervais will host the 69th Golden Globe Awards on January 15, 2012."

Referring to Billy Crystal's return as Oscars host for 2012, Gervais tweeted: "Just told Billy Crystal he'd better not use any of my holocaust or pedophile material at The Oscars. He agreed (true)."

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association's president previously said that Gervais had "definitely crossed the line" with his various jokes during this year's show.

Gervais recently expressed an interest in hosting the ceremony for a third time, saying that NBC wanted him to do so.

The 2012 Golden Globes will be held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on January 15.

Natalie Portman and Jake Gyllenhaal are to present awards at this weekend's Golden Globes ceremony.

The Hollywood stars will be joined by Mila Kunis and Nicole Kidman to honour the very best in film and television at LA's Beverly Hilton on Sunday (January 15).

Portman will be returning to the Golden Globes one year after triumphing as 'Best Actress (Drama)' for her performance as a mentally disturbed ballerina in Black Swan.

This year's Golden Globes gala will be hosted by comedian Ricky Gervais for the third year in a row.

Gervais's hosting stint proved controversial last year because he joked about Robert Downey Jr and Charlie Sheen's drug history, but the comic has vowed not to censor his jokes.

Groundhog Day star Andie MacDowell's 21-year-old daughter Rainey Qualley will serve as Miss Golden Globe for this year's event.

The 69th annual Golden Globes air on Sunday from 8pm EST/5pm PST on NBC.

Eyebrows were raised when Britain's Ricky Gervais was invited back to host this year's Golden Globe awards.

The co-creator of The Office and Extras was criticised in some quarters for his acerbic quips at last year's ceremony.

Yet the 50-year-old was in more generous mood on Sunday night, which saw him poke fun at the great and good without drawing blood.

Here is a selection of his more memorable remarks.

"Tonight you get Britain's biggest comedian, hosting the world's second biggest awards show on America's third biggest network [NBC]. Sorry, is it fourth? it's fourth."

"For any of you who don't know, the Golden Globes are just like the Oscars, but without all that esteem."

"The Globes are to the Oscars what Kim Kardashian is to Kate Middleton. A bit louder, a bit trashier, a bit drunker and more easily bought. Allegedly."

"Who needs the Oscars? Not me and not Eddie Murphy [original host of next month's Academy Awards]. When the man who said yes to Norbit says no to you, you know you're in trouble."

[On Boardwalk Empire] "It's about a load of immigrants who came to America about a hundred years ago, and they got involved in bribery and corruption and worked their way up into high society. But enough about the Hollywood Foreign Press.''

[To winners] "You don't need to thank everyone you've ever met or members of your family, who have done nothing. Just the main two - your agent and God."

"Our next presenter is the queen of pop - not you Elton, sit down. Please welcome Madonna."

[On Antonio Banderas and Salma Hayek] "They're ridiculously gorgeous specimens, they're extremely talented and probably very interesting. I'm not sure - I couldn't understand a [expletive] word they said."

"What you don't know about Colin Firth is he's very racist. I've also seen him punch a little blind kitten."

NBC executive Paul Telegdy has insisted that Ricky Gervais is welcome to host the Golden Globes for a fourth time.

The network's president of alternative and late night told Deadline that the controversial comic "scored" with his performance at last night's (January 15) ceremony.

"It's an incredibly bold and brave thing to take on a hosting job and do it for three consecutive years while facing such level of scrutiny," Telegdy said. "He came out, he was himself, he had a great time and he was backed by the biggest stars. I laughed heartily throughout."

Telegdy also dismissed suggestions that Gervais's performance was tame compared to his 2011 stint.

"I believe people were prepared after last year," he argued. "But I would say that he was as disruptive and intrusive this year. I can't see how he could have been more outrageous."

Gervais himself previously declared that he will not return as Globes host, "at least for a long time".

"We would welcome him back," said Telegdy. "He is a gentleman and a scholar, I was greatly impressed by him as a host and have totally enjoyed working with him.

"I'm also a great believer that the only word that should be unspoken in the entertainment business is 'never'."

David Furnish has questioned if Madonna won a Golden Globe because she agreed to present an award.

The Canadian director, who is married to Sir Elton John - who was also nominated in the Best Song category at the event on Sunday (15.01.12) - does not think she should have picked up the prize because no one has heard the song 'Masterpiece' from her directorial debut 'W.E.'.

He is quoted by the New York Post newspaper as saying: "I think it was a fluke. When this happens you have to question the integrity of the awards. Did Madonna get the Golden Globe because she attended the awards and agreed to be a presenter?

"Can you sing Madonna's song? Can you hum it? It's a song nobody has heard from a film few have seen. The award should have gone to Mary J. Blige or Elton."

Despite his comments, David went on to praise Madonna's music - but took a swipe at her movie-making skills.

He added: "I like Madonna's music, but not her movies. She should stick to what she is good at."

Writing on Facebook immediately after the Golden Globes, an angry David claimed Madonna was "embarrassing" and "desperate".

He wrote: "Madonna. Best song???? F**k off!!!

"Madonna winning Best Original Song truly shows how these awards have nothing to do with merit. Her acceptance speech was embarrassing in it's narcissism. And her critisism ofGaga shows how desperate she really is. (sic)" ..
