The King's Speech has picked up the most nominations for this year's BAFTA Film Awards.

The picture, depicting King George VI's struggle to overcome a crippling stammer, is nominated in 14 categories, closely followed by Black Swan, with 12 nods, and Inception, with nine.

Golden Globe winner Colin Firth will battle it out alongside Jesse Eisenberg (The Social Network), Javier Bardem (Biutiful), Jeff Bridges (True Grit) and James Franco (127 Hours) for the title of 'Leading Actor'.

The 'Leading Actress' prize will be contested between The Kids Are All Right duo Annette Bening and Julianne Moore, Black Swan's Natalie Portman, Hailee Steinfeld of True Grit and Noomi Rapace from The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo.

The 'Director' category finds British directors Danny Boyle (127 Hours), Christopher Nolan (Inception) and Tom Hooper (The King's Speech) facing off against David Fincher (The Social Network) and Darren Aronofsky (Black Swan).

The King's Speech is also up for the 'Outstanding British Film' along with 127 Hours, Another Year, Four Lions and Made in Dagenham.

Ok I am in a really snotty mood LOL who noticed Jenice ( from Waterloo road ) she was almost the color of a walnut,,she looked like one of the brides in my big fat gypsy wedding,, ugh,,, I thought that kid who played Whitney looked like a street walker in her dress,, who else noticed one of the women at one of the winners table was holding the front of her dress up,, for heavens sake did the woman not have a fitting to make sure the dress would stay up ??? I did like how quickly things went..not like in the USA where they thank every one and the man on the streets,, it was all good,,, oooooh did u notice Jesse Wallace was CLINGING to some dude on stage, partner said,, who the heck is that hes not on east enders,, I said hes probably this new guy shes ENGAGED TO..why did she drag the poor man on stage, he didn't have anything to do with east enders ( rolling my eyes ) Ok snottieness over :-P

I agree with you Jodi so much for Jessie wanting to keep her man out of the limelight, dragging him on stage will really do that. And TOWIE winning an award over quality drama like Downtown Abbey was just outrageous. It's just a joke, I was cringing at the fame-hungry wannabes they can't even read properly how can they win awards. The only decent award winners were David Attenbourgh,FI, Daniel Rigby(Eric & Ernie) and Sir Trevor McDonald. Brendan Coyle should have got one for Downtown Abbey.

Yes especially with all the Corrie stuff for the 50th Anniversary

No wonder the Corrie cast looked pig-sick, even Emmerdale had better storylines last year, they didn't even get a look in.
