Sounds like Phil gets his heart attack this week

This is the moment that Walford hardman Phil Mitchell suffers a heart attack in a dramatic episode of EastEnders due to air later this month.

The latest Albert Square drama kicks off when a scheming Phil demands £5,000 from Ian in return for keeping quiet about his affair with Glenda - warning that Jane will find out everything if he doesn't pay up.

At first, Ian thinks he can get out of the mess by begging Shirley for help, but she insists that he deserves everything he gets. Feeling helpless, Ian soon realises that he'll have to give into Phil's demands.

However, when he heads over to R&R to pay his arch-rival, Ian is shocked to find Phil and Glenda in a passionate clinch. Just as a huge confrontation seems inevitable, there's another twist in store as Phil collapses to the ground clutching his heart.

As Glenda rushes off to get help, Ian is left alone with his nemesis, who's in a desperate state. Will Ian help Phil or leave him for dead?

24th Jan

As Ricky prepares to pay a visit to Bianca in prison, Janine arrives after being kicked out by Diane. Janine reveals that she now wants to move into Pat's, but Ricky insists that it's out of the question. Ricky and Whitney then go ahead with the visit to Bianca, but Whitney struggles with the situation and leaves. When she arrives home, Whitney is shocked to find that Carol is there - especially when she says that she's moving in permanently. The pair begin to argue, but they're interrupted when the news comes through that Connor has regained consciousness.


Whitney heads off to visit Connor, but when she gets there, she bumps into Carol. While Whitney storms out, Carol goes into the hospital room to see him. They begin to talk but are interrupted when Connor's mum Kendra arrives. Kendra immediately orders Carol to leave, and Connor backs up his mum - choosing her over Carol, who's left shocked. Later, the tension between Carol and Whitney continues and, following a heated row over dinner, Whitney announces that she's moving out.


Meanwhile, Abi receives a video clip of Ben being bullied. She talks to Ben about the matter before showing the clip to Max, who decides to inform Ian. Later, Ian spots Ben skiving from school and confronts him about the bullying. However, just as Ben is about to open up, Phil turns up and demands to know why Ben isn't at school. When Phil finally discovers the truth, he declares that he wants to sort out the bullies his way - but Ben insists that isn't what he wants. Back at home, Ben gets upset and walks out as Phil continues to pursue the matter, and Phil gets annoyed when Shirley claims that he should have let Ben talk to Ian. Phil then heads out to see Glenda…

Elsewhere, things don't go to plan as Tanya and Greg move into their new house; Roxy is left feeling down after she has a bitchy argument with Janine and Albert does a runner; Max is upset when he notices how friendly Lauren and Greg are; Janine is heartbroken as Ryan finally moves his belongings out of the flat; and after one too many, Roxy offers to be a surrogate mother for Christian and Syed - but Syed doesn't seem happy.

25th Jan

Christian is feeling excited about having a baby, but Syed doesn't want to rush in too quickly. Nevertheless, Christian heads over to visit Roxy, who surprises him by having no recollection of her offer to be a surrogate. However, Roxy then awkwardly tells Christian that she does remember after all. Christian says that he and Syed will be around later, prompting Roxy to feign a smile - it seems like she'd forgotten about Syed's involvement until that point. At the same time, Syed confides in Tamwar about the situation. Tamwar asks Syed whether he really wants a child and explains that their parents would probably never accept it. Later, Syed spots Zainab and tries to help with her shopping, but she snubs him.


Roxy tells Glenda about her plans with Christian, but Glenda feels it necessary to remind her that it wouldn't be her baby and that it sounds like she wishes Christian was straight. Later, Christian turns up at Roxy's and they discuss how they would make the conception happen. Roxy makes Christian laugh by suggesting that they could sleep together, and Roxy has to pretend that she was only joking. Roxy soon ends up with a sample which she puts in the fridge, and she must decide whether to go through with the idea. However, when Christian and Syed spend time alone, Syed says that it's all moving too fast. Christian agrees that they can wait and the pair rush to stop Roxy - but she reveals that she's already gone through with the plan…

Meanwhile, Phil tells Ben that he will be visiting the school to sort out the bullies, so a mortified Ben tells his dad that he lied about being bullied to get Ian off his back. Phil is left in a cheery mood until Shirley reminds him that they have money problems. Later, Phil arrives at the Beale household and orders Ian to give him £5,000 - otherwise he will tell Jane all about Glenda. Coming up with an idea to get the cash, Ian decides to blackmail Masood for the same amount, threatening to tell Zainab about him and Jane. A desperate Masood decides to visit the bookies, but it doesn't go to plan and he ends up asking Phil for the money. Phil is left suspicious and he intervenes - warning Ian that he won't get what he wants from Masood and must come up with the money himself.


Elsewhere, Tanya is surprised by Shirley and Jane's friendship; a desperate Whitney agrees to move in with Janine; Carol tells Ricky that she hasn't been thinking clearly but will be there for him while Bianca is in prison; Vanessa gets annoyed when Max runs over to Tanya to confront her over whether he or Greg will give Lauren driving lessons; and Janine is upset when she invites Ryan out for a meal and he knocks her back.

27th Jan

Phil receives a phone call with the news that Ben has been bunking off school. He confronts his son over the matter, and Ben is forced to admit that he is being bullied after all. Phil decides that he needs to have a chat with Ben's teacher, but Shirley, Jane and Ian all end up worried about his idea. Later, Ian visits Phil at the garage and suggests that he could help out with Ben - but Phil accuses him of using Ben to get out of paying up. He then forces Ian to get on his knees and beg. Later, Phil visits Ian at the café and takes some money out of the till. The pair are interrupted by Tanya looking for Jane and Phil tries to stir up trouble by saying that he saw Jane with Shirley.


Soon afterwards, with all options gone, Ian begs Shirley to help him but she refuses, saying he deserves everything he gets. Ian then heads over to the R&R to pay Phil, but when he walks in, he spots Phil and Glenda in a passionate clinch. At that moment, there's a shock in store as Phil suddenly collapses. Shocked, Glenda looks up to see Ian staring at them as Phil gasps for help…


Meanwhile, Christian and Syed argue about the situation they have got into with Roxy. Syed protests that having a child was what Christian wanted and not a decision they made together. Christian suggests that Roxy could take the pill, but Syed is against the idea - saying they should just pray that it doesn't work out. When Roxy joins the couple for lunch, she senses an atmosphere - but Syed claims they were merely arguing over baby names.

Elsewhere, Max and Jack decide to change the name of the car lot to "Branning Brothers"; Darren feels left out at the business and ends up all alone on his birthday; and Janine offers Whitney a permanent place to stay at her flat before winding Ryan up about her new flatmate.

28th Jan

Following Phil's heart attack, Ian tells Glenda to go and call an ambulance while he waits in the club. Glenda calls an ambulance but is interrupted by Billy, forcing her to hang up. When the emergency services call back, she has to ignore her phone and walk with Billy, leaving Phil behind. Back inside the club, Ian turns on Phil - vowing that he will tell Shirley about Glenda and boasting that he will look after Ben if he doesn't make it. However, Phil's condition is getting worse and he eventually stops arguing back. As Ian bends down to feel Phil's pulse, Phil grabs Ian's arm and threatens to take Jane from him. Ian wants to punch Phil but can't bring himself to do it, so instead he flees the scene.


Ian soon has a change of heart, however, and returns inside. He drags Phil into the office, unplugs the phone and turns up the music. As the paramedics arrive, Ian tells them that nobody needs help, and they eventually leave thinking that the call was a hoax. Returning to the office, Ian gives Phil a long speech about how he has made his life hell. Ian gets Phil to beg for his life, but still refuses to help. Phil asks Ian to tell Shirley that he loves her, but Ian refuses to agree to even this request. Instead, he turns up the music and leaves a desperate Phil behind. Has Ian left Phil to die?

Meanwhile, Roxy talks to "James" in his cot, asking if he would like a "little friend". Ronnie overhears and is shocked when Roxy tells her about her plan. Ronnie discusses the reality of the situation with Roxy, but it is clear to her that Roxy wants a baby with Christian rather than wanting to help Christian and Syed.


Elsewhere, Jane and Shirley meet Ben's teacher, who wrongly assumes that they are a couple; Ryan tries to convince Whitney not to live with Janine; Ben arrives home with a cut lip and breaks down as he reveals how badly he was treated in the young offenders' institute; Darren looks after George while Heather is unwell, but she gets jealous and pretends to be better so she can have the baby back; and Janine assures Whitney that she isn't just using her to win Ryan back.
